- Here is the clutch kit that fits the 2017 - 2019 Honda Civic Si and the 2017 - 2018 Honda Civic!
PLEASE NOTE: During the editing of this video we put the removal of the subframe in the wrong order. Be sure to drop the subframe first, before removing the axles. It is the proper order and it makes it much easier to get to the bracket securing the axle to the engine. When we reassembled it you will notice we edited it in the correct order. We put the axles in then reinstalled the subframe.

It’s not that I can’t do it’s that I don’t want to do it🤣
2 years later, I’m bout to do it😢
keep us updated 🙌
@@yeahok6748yup everything going so good so far I have clutch in. Doing this solo IS TOUGH had to call it a night tomorrow everything going back on getting the transmission on is definitely the hardest part Im hoping my friend wants to come help me as Im only using a hydraulic Jack😀
Got it done. Took me solo bout 22 hours 2 days😂 did it in the street with 3 jacks stands and just one hydraulic jack. Was tough but saved some money!! Grabs hard
Came back to say stay away from this dog 💩 clutch kit. Throw out bearing failed at literally 300 miles. Read forums all the supplied throw out bearings they give fail. gonna have to do this job twice to remove one supplied and replace with a oem one.
Thanks advanced clutch.
this video deserves more credit, most detailed video i've ever watched
Thank you! We really appreciate it!
Props to you guys for including the reassembly procedure.
Excellent video. Shows me why I'm going to pay someone else to do this and why it cost as much as it does. ;)
Instructions unclear vehicle is now RWD automatic
Thanks for making this video. It really came in "clutch" for me.
🧀 🫕 🍕
Wow this is very informative. Thank You
Ma gawd! I want a stiffer clutch on 20 si!
This looks intense! Seems so easy..... Once you get to the transmission!
Man none of this looks outside my skill level until I think about doing it all in one job 😆 I want a slightly lighter flywheel and a clutch in my 2018 si but I don't know if I should do it myself. I have all the tools, outside the alignment tools for clutch and subframe. If I do decide to diy it, I'll be watching this video a few hundred more times.
I’m with you. I have the know how and the tools to do the job. Question is do I want to attempt it, or do I pay a shop $3k and save myself the headache? 💀
@@fordxbgtfalcon If you have the know-how, then you can comfortably do this in a weekend.
Do not get anything from SPEC! Don't ask me how I know or I will cry again 😢
It's just managing the tons of little ticky tacky crap just to get to the damn clutch. I hate that. That's why I'll pay for it to be done.
wow this makes the clutch job on my mk 7 GTI look simple
I would rather do Mk7 clutch than this anyday
I got this same clutch installed in my car, thought the clutch was bad cause the car was grinding gears and wouldn't go into gear. Two master techs told me the clutch is bad. Just as a note, I thought to think like on a dirtbike the clutch and brakes are adjustable be it hydraulic or cable. So I did adjust the clevis and jam nut / rod underneath the foot well. All fixed, adjusted to have a little free play. Just as a note to others.
Thanks guys for the video , finally got this clutch replaced and I am happy with it
Did it all by myself with two sets of jack stands and one hydraulic jack.
Time consuming but it was done properly ..
Thank you for the support! We're happy to hear the video was helpful for you.
How long did it take you?
@@paull9086 it took me about 5 hours from start to finish,
No need to do alignment or bleed clutch
I used an engine support from harbor freight,
It is better to remove bolts from wall when putting transmission back on , it’s easier .
If you have any questions , I could tell you how I did it
@@acevent1281 whats up do you have Instagram so I can text you question about this?
@@acevent1281 Not bad, I'm trying to ball park how long a shop could do this in.
Cool video, still not doing it myself
Just did one just this week if I had seen this before it would of helped. Did it on jack stands the lower starter bolt would not come out it would spin then lock up but would not come out. Had to pull out the Ridgid R86211B it's a beast with1500 ft.-lbs torque. It got it out the bolt had a ball of aluminum on the last 1/2 of the bolt. Pulling the trans & found the bolt hole on that bolt had cracked the trans welded it back up with a tig. When I put it back together used a course thread bolt instead of the fine thread one. The other bolt had wiped out the treads. Doing it by myself took me about 16 hrs. I'm near 67 years old so I'm a bit slow. How long did it take them 2 guys to do that one?
What a mission man, what am I getting myself into
Good god man! No wonder a shop quoted me $3k to install an ACT stage 1.
I was gonna replace clutch myself but after watching this video I might as well hop on the bicycle...
its easier than it looks, just follow the guide, the hard part are the heavy lifting points like taking the trans out. putting it back in is a nightmare too, but everything else is easy enough
lol, the very first instruction... disconnect the negative terminal.. proceeds to disconnect positive
Bro this intro music goes hard asf
Ok so never doing this got it
This job would be more difficult without a hoist! Do you have to bleed the clutch after?
if doing this.. might aswell do aftermarket front sway bar + end links.. flywheel... trans fluid change.. acuity shifter bushings.. engine mount.. and maybe springs/coilovers all in 1 go to get the most done while its all apart and exposed
"remove the negative battery cable" proceeds to remove the positive cable instead 😂. In all seriousness great video, thank you
Oops! Sorry about that! Thank you for the props on the great video.
My shop just called me saying that the oem bolts for the middle of the flywheel are not the right size for this clutch. If different bolts are needed, where are they so I can buy them?
So we remove the subframe first right after the battery removal? before taking out sway bars and axels? I watched this quiet a lot am I missing something? I still see subframe installed and then axels installed in removal and reassembly?
Hello guys did you replaced the fly wheel bolts? Or uses the old ones?
Act the shizzle👍💪🏾
Did this help with feel over stock and easier to drive?
LMAO Bell housing bolts engine side to 48 ft-lb. Bolts on trans side of bell housing to 47 ft-lb. Well I guess all my torque wrenches are now junk. Obsolete. Just threw 'em in the thrash. Any suggestions on what I should replace them with dear Honda?
Bruh I ain't doing all this 😂😂
Great video though 👏🏽
And I thought replacing the clutch in my STI was a pain, jesus!
Do u need a tuned after upgrade clutch
No gasket for the trans? Just metal seal?
Is it needed to undo the whole mount for the transmission or just the bolts for the 2? Just curious, FX725 just went and will be needing to replace
If you are referring to the upper transmission mount, it is best to remove it completely.
Did you guys have any trouble separating the bell housing from the block? I've got about 1-2 inches of gap between the bell housing and the block but I can't get the transmission to come out any further. All 8 bolts are removed and both studs are no longer in the bell housing. There is a big gap around the entire tranny so I know its nothing like a forgotten bolt.
We never experienced this issue. If all the bolts have been removed and the transmission has cleared the aligned dowel pins, the only thing we can think of is maybe the input shaft is stuck in the pilot bearing. With some help, try to wiggle and pull the transmission free.
I just did this, and straight up did not have a good time bruh
Props to you man, no way in hell I would do this myself lol.
Remove the negative cable from the battery *removes positive one*
Do I need the subframe alignment tool? If so where can I get one
I think you can get it done without/ probably just helps with getting it straight
I just did this, and there is a lot of missing information 😅😅😅😢😢😅😅😅 it's pretty hard. But just make sure you have all the right tools.
Is there any bushing or pilot bearing on the engine side that needs to be replaced on this job???
The pilot bearing for this application is in the flywheel and for our flywheel, we pre-install the pilot bearing here at our factory.
Which kit will feel closest to stock?
Stage juan
i agree, this is no $500 job.
Awesome! Its great to finally see a detailed video on how to do this on a 10th gen civic since Ive never done it before. Is there anything id have to consider after removing the steering components such as an alignment or etc?
We did not have any alignment issues on our re install. But you can if you do not use the alignment pins. Also when installing the steering U joint to the rack n pinion you could be off a spline and the steering wheel could be slightly off to one side. That is a super easy fix just un bolt and move it to the next spline over.
Where would I get the pins to align the subframe when re-installing
That small blue plastic sleeve with the line thru it falls to the side when one pulls the shaft off. So make sure to make a mark above it before you pull off shaft. I know this is 3 years later but this info my help someone. If it missalign it will kick on the steering wheel light on the dash. The wheel can be re-centered with a scan tool just have to find someone with the know how.
Watching as I’m getting ready to open the transmission all due to a vehicle speed sensor breaking into the transmission 💀 needed to replace my clutch regardless 😭💀😂
What was the rough time it took for this job ? Thanks !
The shop hours listed by the program we use is 9.1 hours. This is for complete clutch and flywheel removal and installation.
what socket size are those flywheel bolts ?
It has been a while since we did this installation but I believe the socket size for the OE bolts is 17mm and it needs to be a 12 point socket.
Look so easy if you.have the place to do it it my selft i will pay only for clutch and fluid
Where exactly did you hook the engine to the tool
If you are referring about the engine support hanger, we hooked onto the large steel bracket for the wire harness located just to the right of the valve cover.
damn the hardest part is just removing so many things to get to it just replacing the clutch itself takes 10 minutes lol.
did you guys have to upgrade your cmc?
Our clutch kits for this application are designed for use with the OEM CMC. No upgrade is required.
Did I miss something? That was the positive, not the negative cable.
Average guys watching this video: "What a nightmare! replacing the clutch looks so complicated!"
Car guys watching this video: "What a dream! Hondas are so easy to work on! You don't need any proprietary tools!"
Well looks like the hardest part for me is not having a lift, oh well just got the Exedy clutch kit -08809, gonna watch a few more vids and get on this, wish me luck.
All good, only lost one bolt (subframe bolt) hit up up pick a part real quick, also had to readjust the steering shaft. Took about 4-5 hours all hand tools.
I may need to do this soon... how did you support your engine and transmission without a lift and stuff? I dont have one either
@@oopaiyx6x we used to make one before I got a cherry picker from harbor freight for 90 bucks, my friend made me one for the engine support he used 2×4 and it cost him only like 15 bucks to make assuming u have a saw and some screws, you saw that metal engine support they used we made one from 2×4 and we double stacked them just to be sure but then again we used it on my 91 Honda civic which I'm sure is the engine is a bit lighter than my 10th gen engine , I don't weld so making a metal one was was not an option and now I use the cherry picker which is much more easier and iknow harbor freight has a lift to bring down the subframe which u can buy and use 2x4 like these guys, if it comes down to it I'll do this to my 10th gen too,
Will this work on a 2020 civic si ?
Yes, this kit will work on a 2020 Civic SI.
Great video if you want to mess up your car!
Does the alignment pin come in the clutch kit
Yes, the alignment tool is included with the kit
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology thanks for responding to my comment
Just a heads up to anyone who thinks about doing this be careful of all the wires around the sub frame and transmission. I broke 2 of the wires and had to put them back together and now I’m having the same problems come up again. So yea… just be cautious
Has anyone paid to have this done? just curious as to how much it ran you.
$880 with tax at my shop. Customer supplied the parts.
Mine's in the shop for the clutch install right now. Owner quoted me $800, but I expect it to be a little higher when all said and done.
Too bad they don't have anything for the 2.0 LX 2017
I feel like I could do this if i had a lift.
Can this be done from above without removing the subframe?
The subframe must be removed to pull the transmission.
lol "Disconnect Negative Terminal" and the proceeds to disconnect Positive Terminal, & they forgot to add step "Refill MT Fluid"
Nice video, but the BGM is very distracting.
Step 1 pay a reputable shop 500 to do the job.
That is one hell of a friend do do that for 500. That is a minimum 12-13hr bill and more like +$1400 for an install w/fluids.
@@MegaHollywood1971 yeah, 1400 is fucking ridiculous. Someone shafted you hard.
It's about an 8 hour job on this car. $98-100 an hour which is average for most shops comes to +/- 800.
@@darkknight097 a lot of it depends on where you live. I'm in a rural area and the only mechanics in the area that I trust have a long waitlist and definitely charge quite a bit. Not that I'd ever do that anyway. I have enough friends who do stuff like this and enough interest in it that I can usually get whatever I want done for some beer lol.
@@MegaHollywood1971 do it my selft i will pay only for cluch and fluid
Fuck and that pay for parts and tool way cheaper
Anyone accomplish this in their driveway without a lift?
Yea just did a few days ago no issues didn’t even need the engine hoist just used a jack under the engine to support it.
@@me13kone you fucking beast 🤝
@@me13kone pics or it never happened
I am currently doing this job. No engine house just a floor jack. It’s a pain for sure but can be done
Honda civic cvt 1.5l anyone know witch clutch get fix my car 305hp
Where i can buy this clutch
You can purchase this clutch on our website or with a dealer. Links to our website can be found in the video description.
@@AdvancedClutchTechnology do you have product for Honda vezel or HRV?
So not as easy as the clutch in my 86 toyota. lol Oh boy. Easy to say it would be worth paying to have it done.
I could do this.. but I will choose not to. This looks like one painful job. Someone would be paying me way more than $500 to do this.
This is pain bro wtf
Is it works on honda accord automatic ( cvt ) ?
Unfortunately it does not. Sorry!
The cvt does not have a pressure plate, or a clutch I believe. You should take a look at a video on how CVTs work, they're actually very interesting!
That is the smallest transmission I’ve ever seen haha
Lot's of unnecessary steps and mistakes.
Kevin how so ?
Edwyn Sanchez removing axles before dropping subframe for one is a big no no
Why is it a no no.
Kevin So you can’t replace the CV axles without dropping the subframe? Fucking clown.
MooseyQ says the nobody. Also go ahead and look into our own honda manual on installing a clutch as they’ll even tell you to remove the subframe first before the axles
