- Marcus uses a Honda Factory Service Guide to remove the transmission from a 2016+ Civic EX-T. Without the right hanger for the engine, this job can be a little tricky. A little head-scratching was needed but ultimately the trans came out! safe 'n' sound!
This pseudo-guide would be similar for any 10th gen Civic 1.5T application, including the Si.
The CivicX is capable of producing such prodigious torque, this job is one that nearly anyone who up-tunes a Civic EX-T or 1.5T Si will definitely need to replace the clutch, sooner than later. Heeltoe offers a variety of clutch options for this car, as well as billet alloy flywheels for faster acceleration!

Yeah so....this job could have gone more smoothly but sometimes you have to just improvise and work your way through things! A transmission is a bog job, no doubt about it.
I did it myself thanks to this video😎 the civic had more miles and it was a 2.0 but the exact same concept essentially
Kool sound affects 👍🏼
Great job! I subbed & liked!
Informative video! Where can I find those schematics you were reading???
Those are from the Honda interactive network. You need a membership on the Honda techinfo website.
In terms of the removal process do you know if the process any different for the CVT?
I've yet to work on a 1.5t but it almost seems like with that "cooling housing" removed, the gearbox has sufficient room to be split & then lifted out from the engine bay without subframe removal?
Could be?
Can I replace the cvt transmission with a wet dual clutch transmission from a completely different vehicle like the Veloster N for example?
I don't really think you could no
I’ve watched another video where they use a pin to align the subframe ,
How did you come around that ?
You mean on the re-assembly? The pin will make it easier for sure, not sure it is critical though if you can get it lined up.
Just use a long socket that fits snug :)
You don’t need pin. As long as you get it in, you should just need a realignment
Is it possible to still drop the transmission without removing the wheels? I was planning on using rhino ramps
I doubt it given you need to take the axles out.
What website can I get the instructions?
Honda publishes in their service network, unfortunately you need to pay for a subscription.
I need a new clutch...my buddy is a mechanic but man I'm thinking fuck that I'll take the hit and let a shop do it
There is a lot going on here yea
Minus the language!😬
The sound effects...oh my God👎👎Otherwise perfect video, thank you.
Thanks for the feedback!
nah they're great don't listen to this guy
