Fun discussion! My favorite scenes include the pool scene with David and Carolyn, but even more so every scene on the staircase of the Old House: Barnabas and Julia sparring, Barnabas caning Willie, the confrontation between Barnabas and Stokes: The superb acting and the setting itself. I am crushed that some cheap developer tore out that beautiful stair hall (beautiful architecture, beautiful natural light) to get a few extra square feet on a second floor - a crime!

This was great. I enjoyed listening to everyone’s input on the movie. That’s wonderful that Daniel is still watching the show! 👍

Great discussion guys and nice to hear from Daniel again.
Jule you are correct about "they" putting the curse on Barnabas, I double-checked.
I like what Gordon said about this being a greatest hits. When I saw this movie for the first time I had only ever seen early Barnabas and I thought the movie was fine. But, I understand why those that had seen the whole series or most of it, may not care for it as much. Alan is right about the budget and Patrick is spot on about trying to shove everything in a 3lb bag. The film is very rushed at times with hard transitions.
I love this movie and would love a roundtable discussion with the female podcasters too! ❤
I could see Mr. Frid as Dr. Loomis, but I agree, he probably wouldn't have liked that type of horror film.

IMNSHO the biggest influence on Dan Curtis's style when he was shooting hoDS wasn't Hammer, it was Sam Peckinpah. Don't know if Curtis ever discussed his admiration for Peckinpah's "balletic" approach to screen violence (famously satirized a few years after this by Monty Python), but it's very evident in hoDS, particularly in the graphically gory slo-mo ending of the movie.

Avery Schreiber as Barnabas--LOL! Thanks for that laugh, Gordon--it's been a long day. And I bet Schreiber would have improved upon somebody named J. Depp who later, reputedly, essayed the role.
