What if Ukraine didn't participate in Eurovision 2022? (Televote results without Ukraine)

- Here is a theoretical video about how the results would have turned out if Ukraine did not participate. I took all the data from the official eurovision website. I hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: This video is not claiming that Ukraine's victory was unfair or unworthy, I think that Kalush Orchestra had an amazing performance and deserved the win. This video just serves as a what if! If there is enough support I might do this for the previous years as the results could actually change quite a bit! - Zábava

This is the real top 6. Spain deserves to win
This is assuming that everyone who picked up the phone and televoted for Ukraine would not have decided to vote for anyone else. It’s the most accurate prediction you could use obviously, but it’s not accurate at all
Actually, this is assuming that Ukraine didn't PARTICIPATE at all. Still, I think these are similar results to what would've happened if Ukraine participated but the war wasn't there.
For info, I calculated it for 2021 without Italy and I got these results :
1 - France 541 (257+284)
2 - Switzerland 479 (283+196)
3 - Iceland 400 (204+196)
4 - Ukraine 388 (108+280)
5 - Finland 327 (86+241)
6 - Malta 281 (218+63)
7 - Russia 235 (120+115)
8 - Lithuania 233 (54+179)
9 - Greece 191 (101+90)
10 - Bulgaria 191 (151+40)
11 - Portugal 170 (131+39)
12 - Sweden 136 (54+82)
13 - Moldova 122 (54+68)
14 - Serbia 110 (24+86)
15 - Cyprus 105 (54+51)
16 - Israel 104 (81+23)
17 - Norway 95 (16+79)
18 - Azerbaijan 84 (39+45)
19 - Belgium 81 (76+5)
20 - Albania 55 (26+29)
21 - San Marino 50 (37+13)
22 - Netherlands 17 (17+0)
23 - Spain 7 (7+0)
24 - Germany 5 (5+0)
25 - UK 1 (1+0)
So, my country would have won being 2nd in jury voting but winning the televoting (4 points away from Ukraine) and so, would have won with a 62 points Margin
The results would have Been pretty much the same (only Lithuania/Russia, Sweden Moldova & Azerbaijan/Belgium switched)
UK would have got 1 point thanks to Polish jury.
Fun fact: Greece & Bulgaria still got tied.
Germany, Netherlands, Spain & UK still got 0 in Televoting
Omg UK with one point ahahah 😂
And Bulgaria in top 10 ❤
And Norway & Azerbaijan would be together 😂
@@MustiiForTheWin Yes, UK got 1 point because Polish jury ranked them 11th and so, without Italy, got 10th

The video excludes Ukraine obviously because of the wae
For the first time since 2014, my favorite could win, but… 💔😔

Perfect! Just perfect!!!
Not necessarily the case, as the many people who voted for Ukraine would have given their votes elsewhere, distorting the public results further. Most people only vote once, and the vast majority for Ukraine. Also, we’d have a 25th finalist (most likely Croatia).
wouldn't it be NM bcz they got 1 point extra
I think this is very hard to say because who knows the taste of the voters who actually voted for Ukraine.
Maybe they would have voted mostly for Sweden instead or Italy etc. Just making the second highest vote the highest vote for each country doesn't really work in my opinion
not that different. Most people voted for their favorite and then Ukraine. Since aparently everyone did this then Ukraine will come on top on nearly every televote count.
@@renemortensen5028 of course I mean what he did in the video is remove Ukraine and choose the second place as first place.
For example 12p Ukraine 10p Spain = 12p Spain
But I said it isn't that easy because we don't know the taste of the Ukraine voters
@@Philipp19967 lets try again. A huge majority of voters voted on favorites and Ukraine. Therefore without Ukraine the result would be very simular.
@@renemortensen5028 how do you know that/if people split their votes?

@@Philipp19967 because this year is different. And the whole reason they got 439/468 points. It was way to easy to throw that ekstra vote of and say "i am a supporter".
UK would have lost 12+7 points from Ukraine. Spain only 1.
UK gave 10+5 to Spain. Spain gave 3+8 to UK
Small details could make the difference sometimes 😅
But 6 countries votes was changed by EBU in this case UK won a lot of votes in countries with 0 points
@@juanorieguito0410 I don't think so because the votes are calculated according to how their neighbours voted and at least in one country's case their 12 pts went to Ukraine. I think some of the cheating countries (it's pretty obvious when you look at their votes there was a pact between them to vote for each other) actually did have the same original twelve pointer as the algorithm calculated they'd have. Romania's twelve points originally would have gone to Moldova instead of Ukraine so don't kid yourself Spain you lost out there.
So if Ukraine didn’t participate, Eurovision will be celebrated in my country!
Are you kidding me ? 🥺🥺🥺🥺🇪🇸

Lol. Sorry tho! I don’t think y’all deserved last this year
Good video, but it would be a little different because you have to see which country would it qualified in the first semifinal. The most probable it would be Croatia.
Yes of course, but unfortunately we have no way of knowing how the results would differ. However, I doubt there would be many changes to the final result...
@@vex6259 Actually there is. You can use a country's co-pot voting bloc members to determine how they would have given Croatia jury pts. Historical voting through the year could act as televote for Croatia, based on the rank.
For example, to find out how the Belgian jury voted for Croatia. Try combining the votes of co-bloc who participated in the 1st semi (Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland) and see how they ranked Croatia in the average. For the televote, use the historical voting of Belgium throughout the years from ESC Database. BUt thats my method, and you can use another one for yourself
guys you don't know what would happen because you don't know where would Ukraine voters put their votes
True! All those votes to Ukraine could have been given to anyone. Stefania and Slomo are very different songs and I don’t know if those voters would vote for it if Ukraine didn’t participate

It is a theorical video, removing the ukraine televote, jury and people that voted, not predicting what ukraine voters would have done.
So instead of balancing the semi-finals by moving one country from SF2 to SF1, they instead just had 9 countries qualifying from SF1.
I don't understand the public's logic, they gave 110/134 points to Italy, which was pain in the ears but 57/68 to Amanda because "She had flat vocals"

@@EmoBearRights I’ve watched that this year the people wanted to win Spain, and Spain win if Ukraine didn’t participate, because we win more points of the public.
@@joelllorente13 Actually going by the televote people wanted Moldova to win after Ukraine. I'm sorry but you and your mates isn't a representative sample. If you're going by online a lot of people loved the UK and Sweden too - those songs got a lot of support online to the extent where even a trad British pessimist who knew our songs usually tank like me knew we were getting top ten this year. Trust me you notice when people online who aren't British say they loved our song. Also I think people who supported Moldova were either not as online or less vocal but it was fairly obvious that Spain, Serbia, Ukraine and all of the countries mentioned were going to do well this year. I think the only reason Portugal, the Netherlands and Greece didn't do better as the running order kinda nerfed them.

2 problems with this list: while we can easily determine how each single juror would have voted, we don't know, how those people who voted for Ukraine would have voted, just posting places 2 to 11 for each country doesn't do any justice and might be inaccurate. We can't assume, that no one of them would have voted. Maybe they would have voted for Sweden, for the UK or for Spain. Maybe for Serbia, Norway or Moldova. And the 2nd problem is that there are only 24 countries, this needs another qualifier, most likely Croatia. Uhm, I just would have given them high televote scores and jury scores from Austria, Switzerland and the other former Yugoslavian countries. Maybe 12 televote points from Serbia and mostly just replacing Ukraine with Croatia in these countries. I think, Croatia would have definitely placed higher than just 4th with the Serbian public. And for the juries, I would have looked up how every single juror in the semi ranked her, eg if juror A put her 8th in between Lithuania and Switzerland, I would put her just in between those countries, the problem is, if juror A put SF2 songs and automatic qualifiers in between Lithuania and Switzerland in the Final. Or sometimes, a juror's list might differ from theirs in the semi, eg they put Lithuania as their 7th favorite song in the semi, but now it's their 6th highest ranking song among SF 1 qualifiers. And SF 2 and automatic qualifiers might be tricky, maybe you can judge these countries based on how they historically ranked Croatia in their tops. (there's also a chance that many voters who voted for Ukraine in the semi final, would have otherwise voted for another non qualifier, like Latvia, Albania or Bulgaria, probably pushing them ahead of Croatia, but that's not very likely).
If Ukraine didn't participate, but still was able to vote, the results would be super close: Spain - 519 points and the UK - 517 points
Lmao S10 would be 10th here🥹
(as she should)😌
Ok I like your concept but you neglect to notice that:
Aside from the difficult jury ranking system (no, they dont use the average system but something EBU cooked up back in 2018) which consists of 5 juries,
Since Ukraine didnt participate in the 1st semi, one of the countries from the 2nd semi (most likely Finland) will participate instead.
North Macedonia MIGHT have qualified.. It's a small change BUT it can have big impact.
I myself did a hypothetical ESC where Croatia and North Macedonia qualified to the final instead of France and Germany (yep in case the big 4 participated in the semis) and it changed Georgia & Azerbaijan's simulated 12 pts to Sweden, not UK.
Love your video! ♥️ I think that without "the Ucraine situation" UK or Spain could win, I know is hipotetical but why you only show the televoting of 24 countries? Thanks!
Since this video assumes Ukraine did not participate, we can only get the results of the 24 remaining finalists.
You could assume Croatia would have made the final but it is difficult to say for certain what the EBU would have done in this situation. There is a possibility that they might have moved any one from Azerbaijan, Georgia or Israel to Semi final 1 (they were in the same draw pot as Ukraine). If Azerbaijan was moved it would have been especially interesting. We can assume North Macedonia would have qualified from SF2, but I could have seen a scenario where Azerbaijan and Switzerland split the jury vote and only one of the two qualifies, since they both did horribly in the televote and Croatia qualifies at the expense of one of them. Or alternatively both Azerbaijan and Switzerland qualify and Croatia steals the spot from Iceland. Regardless Croatia would have likely came near the bottom in this scenario. Macedonia the same more than likely, couldn't have seen in doing well at all in the final either.
spain winner
Mother Liu getting 150 is satisfying
Hi, how do you calculated it because the 6 countries who got their results removed only revealed top 10 of jury & of televoting so, how do you know The country That got 11th
I removed the 1 point from the 6 countries with corrupt jury votes. So, there are 12 points missing in total, but I doubt that would influence the final result.
@@vex6259 Oh ok, I thought you calculated average of same pot countries and so the highest average from the non scoring countries were 11th and so have 1 point
IDK if you understand what I mean but anyway, I love This concept
My God, why people are so obsessed with this song
Maybe because the singer sang the song on a treadmill for 6 months for the performance and then delivered the best choreography this show has seen in decades and perhaps since it’s inception?
@@abdo-dr1tu How does that make the song amazing?
Why have you only got 24 countries in the Grand Final? There would still have been 25 finalists, because a different country in the First Semi-Final would have qualified in place of Ukraine. That substitute qualifier wouldn't necessarily have been 11th placed Croatia. Have you worked out how the jury votes and televotes would have worked out with just 16 countries (in other words no Ukraine) in the First Semi-Final, to determine the ten qualifiers. It may seem odd, but one or two countries (borderline ones) that made it to the Grand Final might have failed to qualify without Ukraine in the First Semi-Final, and so there might have been more than one non-qualifying country from the First Semi-Final in the Grand Final.
As for the final, we don't know how people would have voted. Some who voted for Ukraine might have voted for Spain, some might have voted for Sweden; the list goes on. This is a lot more complicated to speculate than you might think.
i totally agree with you. Ich voted for Poland and Ukraine. If Ukraine hadnt participate I would have voted for Serbia
