A very informative video regarding bundle vs unbundled services. I have read about another concept called hybrid bundling which is basically having bundled services for first year and then unbundled for the remaining life of the hearing aid. For me, a hearing aid user, the first year is where you are getting use to the features of the hearing aid and the settings for your hearing loss. Then after that is basically adjusting hearing aids to changes is your hearing loss. Of course routine maintenance is needed. And another point to mention is that as the baby boomers are becoming the hearing aid users they want more control over their hearing loss care. Hence, self-programming and self-adjusting of hearing aids is on the rise.

If hearing aids could be self-programmed, then you wouldn't need the Audiologist. I understand what you are saying Tim, but consider that the Criminal FDA has pushed forward the sickness of "perceived Mild to Moderate hearing loss" in their proposed legislation.
If I think I have an illness such as leukemia, I get tested...I get tested for lots of symptoms I need the answers for. But only in Audiology, do we believe that you don't need to be tested. If they were honest, they would have stated for the FDA hearing aid OTC approval, one must receive a test to know if you are IN the Mild range (moderate hearing loss CANNOT EVER wear OTC hearing aids...whatsoever...not just my opinion but fact). When I evaluate a patient, I spend time checking the ears out, taking impressions, testing in quiet, noise, ear canals...lots of areas to make sure you don't have something that can be fixed medically or need special recommendations when I prescribe hearing aids. Once you come back, we spend time looking at what you have perceived vs what you are hearing to know which of the possibly 115 separate adjustments are needed to take care of your issues. Does that seem like something that can be self-adjusted/programmed? Nope sorry...those who push this are NOT being longitudinally (long term) honest with the public. Those are my perspective doing this with 25K patients over 32 years.

So I getting the new Resound Nexia’s this week. I’m seeing a Doctor of Audiology who follows best practices. She uses a bundled approach. So when I went to my first appointment for my hearing evaluation I was charged for that appointment. So my question is: for example if I’m paying for my bundle $7,000.00 will they now go back and include what I’ve already paid, and take that amount off $7,000.0 to reduce that amount? Bundle $7,000.00 - evaluate $200.00 = $6,800.00?

You think that hearing aids cost 200 bucks? Where are COGS in here? How does she keep the clinic open? How does she continue to make money each appointment you come in for over the four-six years or more of service needs? Billy, I know you are trying to make a point but EVERYONE is entitled to a profit and hearing aids have plenty of customization and service along with high profit with very few coming into a practice vs the opposite model of Best Buy/Walmart which is low profit and high volume of people. Everyone bundles...that's the reality. In truth, unbundling is fake.
