The best thing about gun4ir is the ability to make your own guns cheaply with readily available components. The camera can be tricky to get, but even those can be sourced from a Wii remote.
Any link?
@@wolffactor56 every links are in the video description 😄
The gun tech for modern displays has come a long way in the recent years, wonder how well this stacks up in comparison to an OG gun on a CRT. Also Operation Wolf was one of my games back in the day at the arcade I had to play.
From my tests, it stacks up pretty nicely.
Both precision and latency are a bit better than the guncon2, and equivalent to the real arcade guns.
I'm currently working on a CRT gun adapter as well, so I was able to compare them all side by side 😄
If you're interested I even made a video of the Gun4IR working on a real PS1 through a prototype adapter, is show how well it works compared to the real thing.
Looks way more fun using this on a large tv screen instead of a little 3/4 arcade cabinet. More realistic experience because you can stand farther from the screen. Also looks pretty accurate.
It's super accurate and really fun on a large screen like this. Thanks so much for watching!
@@RetroRalph Hey Ralph, do you have to download a software on the computer to program these guns? Or just plug in and calibrate it with the black leds in order to play. Why not make a video on how you set yours up and the minor problems you can come across with installing it.
@@RAMCO840 there is a software but it's only optional, to access more settings and advanced calibration, which are all saved inside the gun. Once you're done configuring and calibrating the gun to your liking, it's pretty much plug and play 😄
@@jaybee1584 When will these guns be restocked? I see they are sold out ( within one day ).
@@RAMCO840 yes they will, we only display the stock that we have ready to sell (no preorder) to be able to send them right away. As they are hand made for now, we have limited stock each time 😄
That’s awesome! Love the Rambo playing at the end.
By the way, you need to play that game, it’s crazy fun!!!!
I love me some light gun games. It's nice to see that the tech has really come a long way!
Wow, that works great ! I still got my AimTrak Light Gun from years back but it still gets the job done lol ... still works good on my atgames legends ultimate with gun games . Thanks for the video!
That was a brilliant review and demonstration. I especially like how you opened the video by playing my favourite arcade shooter: Terminator 2 Judgement Day.
I'll definitely be looking further into these light guns, for when I eventually get my butt around to building an arcade set-up.
Thanks man, I appreciate that. Thanks so much for watching!
With this set up you can battle life sized Terminators as opposed to the Arcade1up where you fight T2 action figures:)
Pretty much 😏
Dolphin bar with a pi and wii remotes works great.
Yes they do, this is just another option for people looking for an amazing experience on a modern TV.
For. Me the larger screen is the way to go. 2022 will be the return of the lightguns!
That looks awesome. I would buy this hands down BUT I have know idea how to hook up a laptop to my tv etc. wish this was preloaded or had a usb to just plug in or other options for those who do not know how to hooks things up.
Awesome video, you do a great demo of my Gun4IR accuracy there 😄
Seeing how much everyone enjoys it makes all the hard work worth it 😊
Btw if anyone has any questions about but the Gun4IR tech, hit me up anytime 😉
You rock man! Keep up the good work.
@@TheColdest247 thanks, I will! 😄
@Jaybee - is there a link to a tutorial ( that is not 25 pages of forum posts long preferably) with links to what we need for those of who who want to create our own from a wii remote? When does your kit come out and where will it be available otherwise?
I would like to see a comparison between these and the sinden ones. I am looking to purchase a set for a home arcade set up.
I will do a comparison in the future but at a high level, no white boarder, no taking up system resources , better accuracy and you can buy one right no with no wait time. The gun stores the configuration information so once you run the one time calibration, you’re pretty much good too to go.
Mounting the LEDs is easy and it provides a super fast and accurate experience. I like the Sinden and I own 2 of those as well but the Gun4IRs tracking speed and accuracy just can’t be beat IMO.
Gun4ir is the best, sinden started out as the saviour for gun games but unfortunately falls short in execution. The white border alone makes it a non starter, as it takes the arcade experience away with reduced screen size for the games.
Also the white border is a problem if you care about integer scaling for games, as it will make many games scale up blurry, instead of the crisp arcade pixels.
Here is a really great review by Titchgamer about both systems. I have built 3 (working on my 4th) Gun4Ir and have 2 Sindens. Titch does a fantastic job explaining the pros and cons of both and general overview czcams.com/video/LZGtGYIu95M/video.html
I have both and would definitely go gun4ir route. You just can't get a white bar on every game reliably without making sacrifices. Many of these games just run and work better exclusive full screen which covers the white boarders needed for sinden. That and the software needed to run it can be unreliable, requiring you to restart it for no apparent reason.
@@RetroRalph can I please ask if you could tell me all the shooting games you were playing. The first 1 or 2 I don’t know what they are? Great video by the way. Thanks for the review.
I love that Series X in the background!
Wow looks awesome 👍 great review. 💸
Dang sold out 🤦
Thanks for watching bud, it shows sold but he ran out of a few parts but should be back in 2-3 days. So just check back in a little bit 👍🏻 thanks again for watching!
Just out of usb cables ! Back in 2-3 days when amazon delivers lol
Back in stock friend!
@Retro Ralph,
Thanks for highlighting Operation Wolf (Taito) on this video! That is my all-time favorite light-gun game and wish someone like A1Up would manufacture a 3/4 scale cabinet (but not butcher it like they did on T2). As for me currently, I am using a Mayflash Dolphin Bar with Wiimotes via MAME and it is working surprisingly well. I would love to try the Gun4IR but it all comes down to cost. There is also the (Arcade Europe) AE Lightgun which I have recently purchased when their latest wave of stock went live. Their technology seems to be very close to what Fun4IR is doing.
Happy Holidays and Cheers!
Brent
Thanks for watching bud. I have fond memories of operation wolf. It doesn’t get much love these days but it should, it was an iconic lightgun game if you ask me. Cool to know you have the same appreciation for it! 🙏🏼. Thanks so much for watching bud! Happy holidays to you as well!
Really cool Ralph, Keep up the great work. Nice Galloping Ghost t-shirt..:)
Good eye 👀 Thanks for watching bud!
Man I can't wait to try these , which I had installed on my Megacade, which I should be receiving in a few weeks
I offer a Megacade install kit , if you haven’t gotten it yet we can have it shipped to dave directly
Ralph, I've beeb following your stuff for a while. But, please please please, can we have a side by side and detailed latency and tracking comparison between the main players on lightguns these days? 👍
Thanks for the video. Would love to see one on the AE Light Gun for comparison.
I haven't been able to acquire one, I would like to try it out and see how it performs.
Works incredibly nice...It reminds me of a Nintendo wii mote... HOD2 looks great without the flashes of a light gun.... Operation wolf i did a No death run for the NES, loved that game....Great vid!
You’re the best ralph! Thanks for the awesome video
Thanks man, I appreciate that you make such amazing technology!!! Thanks for all your support!
That game you are playing looks awesome 😄
Yeah this looks good !
Hey Richard good to see u! Thanks for watching :)
I think it's on my list. But just got the GRS stick for my starwars build. So I have to save my pennies.
I was debating on getting one but after this video I’m sold!
It’s a great option and the best I have come by as far as accuracy and just the overall solution from calibration to setup. Keep in mind that Sinden is also a great option. Some complain about the white boarder and while this doesn’t have that, you need the LEDs for tracking. So there’s pros and cons. I own both and prefer the Gun4IR. Thanks so much for watching!
Awesome Sause 🤩 Thanks for the heads up Ralph! How amazing is this setup Just picked up x2 for the family!
Great review I have Sinden light guns which require no sensors and the Accuracy is pretty good.
Do you want a white boarder that affects the picture or simple led's you can take on and off, or if you build a cab they can now be hidden well. I personally didnt want to fiddle with a white boarder, along with reshade when the boarder does not pop up. The LED's are simple and i stick them on when i play gun games on my tv/pedestal setup, take them off when i dont, you can get wireless ones. Way less hassle imo. And everything runs on the gun audrino, not windows software. SO its very easy and quick to setup. No worries about a program crashing on the OS.
Maybe one day if it becomes more affordable like for 60$, I will buy 2. Too broke to afford 300$ on these but looks very tempting.
I been wanting to put a gun into my cab but this won't fit likely, might get it just for my pc setup though. Operation Wolf, i think i remember playing that on NES.
Okay! This is pretty groundbreaking and dare I say, looking even better than the Sinden Light Gun.
I gather this is a PC-only peripheral?
It’s PC only at the moment but they’re working on console support for future releases.
Kinda short on funds right now. Damn! $250 isnt really a lot but, it is right today. 🤦🏾♂️
This looks great Ralph!!
Thanks bud, I appreciate you watching!
Excellent video Ralph! You can tell how genuine your experience with it was! Any idea how something like this could work with the ALU?
$800 for 2 guns is crazy expensive though...
It is but it’s the last light guns you’ll need, so that does play a factor.
Really cool but they are not possible to buy outside of the USA.....😭
If you consider that people are willing to pay $700+ for an A1Up Terminator 2 cabinet with only one game, $450 for a set of these doesn't sound so bad... what build are you using for the games though?
I’m using launchbox as the frontend and various emulators depending on the games I want to play.
Wow that's a real reach. Lol.
They will be putting speakers in them next.
It's actually already been done by one of my users, he added a secondary board to his DIY Gun4IR for that haha
I hate you for this video. Now I have to purchase this unit.
Sorry... Not sorry. 😂 thanks for watching bud. I will tell Raymond to be on the lookout for your order. 😂😂
@@RetroRalph i will may sure i pass this message to the misses
@@UAG Wellllll hold on a second. 😂😂😂
Hehe I’ve been waiting for you. Been watching for a while ;)
@@raymonddai you got me
The gun peripheral looks great but where did the games come from? Some I've never even seen before
Of course you release this as I'm setting up my Sinden guns haha. How is 2 players with this? So far my only problem with Sinden is the 2 player set up on emulators except on MAME it works easy and great.
Nothing wrong with Sinden bud, they make a good product. This is just another offering and it happens to have some unique advantages over sinden but both are great options.
Doc would be very proud of that shirt bro!
Awesome light gun but ouch those prices, they are scarier than any house of the dead.
300 for one gun witout the black leds thats costs 75 bucks extra. I am sorry thats redicules. Sinden is 300 for 2 guns and it works on beamer screens too.
you had me at "its available now"
I still dream of the perfect gun arcade cabinet
Gun games are just awesome, right?
Yea I don't know about $225 for a lightgun
My sinden is finally on the way, but after seeing this video..... It may wind up on ebay.😂😂😂
I wonder if its any better than the sinden gun. I have major problems with jittering, accuracy, and offscreen reloading with the sinden. The sinden is ok for slower games like time crisis, but you cannot play games like alien and house of the dead because of the offscreen reload issue. Duck hunt is completely unplayable due to small targets and low accuracy. I have never actually hit a single duck in duck hunt.
The sinden also has issues with light interference. If there are any lights on your arcade cabinet ie buttons, marquee, etc. or a light on in the room, it goes crazy.
BACK IN STOCK!
is there a recoil cause that really adds that arcade feel that I grew up with and it makes my father who I really want this for that realism of a gun.
Wow that's pretty pricey, but $500 for a pair?
$450 if you only need one set of leds, and free priority shipping from NYC
That looks absolutely excellent 👌
It's sold out
He ran out of a part he needs, check back in 2-3 days and he will be back up and running 👍🏻 Thanks so much for watching!
I'm a noob when it comes to this and I have to apologize in advance. But how do you get the games to work on PC?
1:15 where are you getting that the black LEDs are 3x more powerful than the white ones. Also I can't even find any black LED IR Emitters, only receivers. Did they make the LEDs themselves?
I admit that I have absolutely no knowledge of the tech, but why not have the sensors on the corners?
Would that not be easier to set up?
because on a very large screen you have the potential for a dead spot in the center. The cameras field of view isnt as wide as human eyes so putting them on the middle of the sides ensures you always have at least 1 reference point even if you go to the far sides.
So, Gun4IR vs sinden? I was moreso looking at sinden because I liked not having to do the sensors so I could just switch my pi between my monitor and TV easier
Looks like a good quality light-gun, but the hefty $250 plus price tag is a real turnoff.
They’re all hand built so the price is higher than a company with the ability to mass produce these. The quality of the work is great and the support behind the product is great too.
@@RetroRalph Well, your review doesn't lie, the accuracy looks amazing! Just out of my price range for now. I'd like to eventually get one as I play a lot of light gun games thru emulation. The irony I spent years reviewing light gun games without a light gun, lol. Do you know what emulators it works with?
@@GamersBay you can build your own as well. If you already have a soldering iron and some of the materials, you can build a gun relatively cheap.
@@GamersBayIf you cant build one yourself for cheap, I went with ray and yes its expensive but you really do get what you pay for. He will do custom stuff you want, he will help you, and theres alot in these guns as far as installing the hardware, solenoid, cabling, its not quick to build one and not everyone can. He used a fantastic japanese guncon shell for mine. Probably some hand soldering involved. I have ralphs gun but just slightly different, mine has recoil and rumble, and the fish eye lens on mine is black. I also bought time crisis pedal from ray.
I'd rather that they made custom shells rather than gutting old guns. Also add more buttons and maybe a d-pad for games like the Resident Evil Chronicles games etc. Hopefully down the line.
$810 not including tax or shipping for everything as a two player setup. 🤕 Ouch, too bad it's sold out.
I don't see how this is better than sinden
I would love to see Tulsa Arcades sell a pre-drilled bezel for their 20-inch Arcade1Up monitor kits, or even sell one with the LEDs already attached. I assume the LEDs would work through the plexi? That's really been the biggest obstacle to me with Gun4IR is trying to figure out how to attach the LEDs without butchering my cab.
I bet Raymond over at RPEG would have a suggestion for you on how to mount the LEDs. I think I’m going to build a gun cabinet based on Gun4IR so it’s a great question.
Yes it does, I trimmed a half inch off my bezel and mounted behind . Alternatively I have peel and stick wireless leds but they are bulkier and not as clean
I have my leds behind my smokey plexi on my cab and they work great (same leds featured in the video).
@@moleburt4276 good to see u as always , happy holidays !
@@raymonddai you too!
I finally get my Sinden guns and now all I hear about is this gun haha. I'm happy with Sinden but these are interesting.
I have both sinden and Gun4Ir, in game accuracy is virtually the same. Really comes down to if you prefer IR around the screen or a border. I think people will be happy with both systems 😊
Maybe it's just youtube but I seem to notice a bit of lag, was there?
No lag but I film in 4K 24FPS so in sure that's what you're noticing.
@@RetroRalph there you go. Thanks for the info
The ir sensors is a deal breaker for me.
Looking the big picture the price for everything is too high for a glorified wii remote style gun. That's why sinden is moving so much.
I would think the calibration would need to be redone of the IR reference points change like if you use a different TV, for example. Is that right?
Is there a way to calibrate with just MiSTer yet? My computer monitor is not the same as the tv I use for MiSTer.
Looks awesome, those it come with the games, or just it's the gun? how many games it comes with?
It’s for a DIY solution so it your job to hunt down the emulators and games.
How come I don't see the action recoil happening in this video like I did in your previous video? Are they just different options? Different guns? Thanks brother
The only problem I could see with it is I would want to use this gun on multiple TV's. With those stick on sensors I couldn't do that. I also couldn't use it on my main tv because I have the govee immersion kit. Also is this gun compatible with a raspberry pi?
Will this work on the Switch? I need to know cause the House of the Dead remake is coming soon and I think this Guncon45 may be perfect for that game.
Damn! They sold out within 1 day 😮.
He ran out of a part he needs, check back in 2-3 days and he will be back up and running 👍🏻 Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Ralph- can’t seem to find the link for these guns.. do you have it and could you send? Thanks.
If I’m already using an AIMTRAK for my gun games can a Gun4IR work automatically with them too?
Can this work on a 85 inch tv. It says the kits are for 65 inch
You are really expert on light gun! Do you know if this Gun4IR v2 can be use with projector system? Thanks!
How does this compare to Sinden and Aimtrak?
I'm not sure if you've used any of these others, but it's just that I found one Aimtrak in my country and we can't import guns like these :/
$400 that guys is out of his mind
Hey where did you get the games like the alien one
Sorry, I cant provide that info but if you search for information on Aliens Extermination you should be able to find what you're looking for 👍🏻
Wow awesome looks like it works amazing I love it. The ps1 guncon was always the best! Great decision going with that mold. What emulator do you use on your pc to play the newer arcade light gun games such as that alien and Rambo game?
Does the LEDs around the tv become difficult to add in a normal arcade build? Seems a little weird..
I'd be interested if anyone can get these things working on original hardware :) unfortunately no one has yet
This light gun will work for sega Dreamcast and Nintendo wii?
this gun is very expensive but it seems it is the best gun available on the market better than sinden and AimTrak .
Hi Ralph. How close can you get to the screen with gun4ir? The reason I ask is because I want to add foot pedals to my a1up riser for games like time crisis.
In theory I think it would but the cables for the LEDs would have to be extended. If you reach out to RPEG (contact info in the video description) he would know best and be able to answer your question. Thanks so much for watching!
I assume this is better than AimTrak gun. but does it much better than that ? I am not sure If It is easier to setup than that. and it is sold out or cannot go to web site to purchase for now..
RPEG sold a ton of them after the video. He needs some additional parts and they should be back for sale on Monday. It’s wayyyy better and much easier to setup then the AimTrak IMO. I did a video a while back with all my complaints about the AimTrak, was using it for a very long time and this is a breath of fresh air.
@@RetroRalph thanks for info!
How close can you get before it starts losing tracking? I’d definitely be interested in these if it’ll work within my confined space.
Depends on your screen size or the type of lens you are using, to sum up; minimum optimal playing distance is 2x screen width without any lense, 1.5x with wide lense, and 1x with fisheye lens (the one used in the video). The system will continue tracking it closer tho, it just won't be as precise and reliable ;)
@@jaybee1584 I’m running a Makvision 27/29 CRT. I’d estimate only a couple of feet standing distance, being that the arcade is in my collection room.
@@PalkosHorrorCollection yes that seems a good distance. Note that if you are interested in CRT guns tech instead, I also have a CRT guns adapter coming somewhere in 2022 😄
@@jaybee1584 Even better! I’ll absolutely wait for that, thanks!
all those little LEDs sticking out don't look good. they should encase them into something that looks better, like the wii light bar. something like 4 little wii light bars would be better, imo.
That have ones on their website that are encased. Link is in the description of the video if you’re interested.
This looks awesome.. Do you know if this works with the Raspberry Pi4? I converted an Arcade1up and this would be perfect for it.
I wonder if this would work on a projector screen if you can frame up the sensors?
I think it only works on an up to 65" screen.
What is that Transformers game?
It’s transformers human alliance 👍🏻
@@RetroRalph Cool. Is that running on a new emulator or something?
Sinden light gun VS Gun4ir. Which is better?
This is a really great comparison video czcams.com/video/LZGtGYIu95M/video.html

Would the LEDs work on a 100' projector screen?
