    Going to be that lore nerd guy for a sec. Lore wise the reason nurgle blessed forces take less damage from bolt weapons is that their flesh is so decayed that the round passes through instead of blowing up in the target. Think along the lines of using piercing weapons against skeletons in a fantasy setting and you're not far off. There is a Horus heresy novel in which the Luna Wolves make first contact with chaos forces and have trouble because their weapons just pass right through the reanimated enemy. Thanks for the build, seems fun.

      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci +16

      I would agree with you except I feel like we have an armor type that describes that level of decay called Infested. Poxwalkers and Pox Hounds and Pox Bursters are the only enemies of that type (though Plague Ogryn seems like it should have it). Dreg Shooters though are mostly still living breathing folks that at most have a few minor boons, some nasty zits, staph infections and feel no pain.

      @@Reginald-sc9tk Oh I fully agree, especially from a game play balance stand point. I was just pointing out there might be a lore based reason the devs made it that way. Most Nurglite forces have super strength, but are rather... viscous in consistency. Though the pox walkers are usually the ones most known for this.

    I made a minor error in editing this as I went through several iterations of this build over just a few days. The demo footage is from an earlier build where I had Competitive Urge and Confirmed Kill instead of 5% Ranged Damage (tax) and Precision Strikes. I have tested the build I recommend in around 5ish games and I am confident in the accuracy of my arguments here despite my footage error. The footage on Magistrati Oubliette is one such game where I do not run confirmed kill. It is featured throughout my discussion at 05:19.

    • @nickjean3350
      @nickjean3350 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Unless the wording is wrong focus target does not increase your damage, it only increases the damage the target takes. In which case that 4-32% bonus applies to your allies hitting that target as well. I have no one to test this with though so I could be wrong. But word for word the skill says, " Causes them to take 4% more damage per stack." meaning if that is true then that is a massive boost to the party and not just you. Plus the other boosts.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci

      That is correct. The other buff is a team damage increase that also impacts you. But the point is it also impacts you. People were treating it earlier on like some weak buff, but its honestly a lot for everyone which is pretty strong. A lot of games you can really feel it if you know your kits and their breakpoints well. You get kills that surprise you. @@nickjean3350

    This build is absolutely beastly, thanks! Used your build tonight but my weapons weren't the same (power sword VI w/ power cycler + brutal momentum and plasma w/ gets hot + blaze away). Think I only charged the secondary on the plasma like twice.
    I know Rending Strikes prob was mostly useless for this combo when powered but the PS VI with BM + Rending & Precision Strikes was great on hordes when cycler ran out. Didn't feel like I needed to power the sword until a special or elite wandered in range.
    The build was so strong, my team got drunk with power and pushed a bad area too hard. I was reloading and behind them so I couldn't do anything in the few seconds that 20 ragers, 4 crushers and a horde of groaners swarmed them from a side door. I REALLY wished for that bolter when they started to charge me (grenades weren't enough).

      redirect fire is pretty good instead, its always up and when its not you would already have matured enough stacks to just get the full bonus at the first taggable enemy, so you just play and not think about it making it one of the best keystone mods
      if you spam the tag accordingly you get consistent +12% + 8%, which is very good to meet the breaking points on a hard hitting weapon like the bolter, it makes marksman focus completely obsolete from this point of view
      with the secondary keybind mod you can make it so that when you shoot you always tag what you are shooting at, i havn't tried it yet but i'm exited to see if i can make it work

    *Regarding the start of the video:* I may be mis-remembering, but I think one of the reasons newer players like myself would prefer the Plasma Gun (despite the Plasma Gun still being glitched) over the Boltgun is ammo efficiency.
    I.e. While both have disgustingly long reloads, you can fire for longer with the plasma gun between those reloads.
    Very interesting build nonetheless.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 4 měsíci

      thats definitely a good reason. The other is its flat out a better weapon. But IMO its a plasma gun so thats just fine. Plus it has a much large base mag size allowing longer durations of uptime even accounting for over heat.
      Its worth noting that the plasma gun has a staged reload that can be sprint canceled at like 3 or 4 points thus heavily reducing the reload duration.

    if you get the mercy killer blessing on a knife it lets you in on the know about something REALLY handy. Bleed stacks on a target make that target completely a weakspot - everytime. SSSSSSSoooooooooooooooooo if you take the serrated blade perk , you place 1 bleed stack on every melee swing. Thereby making that 30% weakspot damage a flat buff to your melee aswell.
    (- keep your eyes out for shovels when your looking for perfect gear for this trick - as they can roll a blessing that gives around 160-180 weakspot damage for 3 seconds on pushing with your melee weapon -)

    Been running similar build for some time, can confirm: it works. Pure shooty Vet also works, but worse than weapon-swap one. I'd say Vet can still put up some fight even post nerf, but dominating scoreboard become much harder, and results usually surpass competent teammates by a noticeably smaller margin. And I'm Vet main since launch. I can't help but feel like I'm playing watered down Relic Zealot or Gunlugger. And don't even get me started with Psykers. Forget "dominating" anything, I have to lean forward in my gaming chair just to keep up with a competent Psyker player! One of my gaming buddies who got into the game recently once said that he doesn't feel like playing Vet anymore because he feels like a burden to the team because everyone else can do what he does, but better and with less time spent taking dirtnap. Some of that could be attributed to relatively low amount of experience, but I think this encapsulates main problem perfectly: Vet's not bad, it's just everyone else are better and can do more or less the same with much lower risks. Also the talent trees! Any other class has a compact tree that allows you to build a skeleton with ~20-22 talents, and then branch out to side routes and grab good stuff. Yes, you can't have it all, but you can have a lot of it. Whereas Veteran's tree requires pretty much all 30 points to just build that barebones skeleton of workable build. I would really love to see all those +1Stamina nodes to disappear and several other stat nodes just rolled together.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci

      People underestimate the value of stamina. But I think I'd like to see a compression of tax nodes. The padding in the vet tree really hurts it. Good psyker builds are just so much more powerful than good vet builds too. Ogryn is eating good too but he's not super popular so its not surprising that he's not catching as much attention. As a zealot main I feel he didn't move too much unless you run martyrdom but I like playing him still. And yeah. Vet is just....eh? I hope for changes patch 15.2.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 6 měsíci

      Well: 2-3 is actually the minimum ping. You're more likely to get 3-4. But it also buffs Redirect Fire so it sits at 8 instead of 5. So the long duration buff against all targets becomes 12% instead of 7.5%. Thats a pretty big jump + you can always save up for big 8 stacks on monstrosities when you know their spawn locations.

  • @monkfishy6348
    @monkfishy6348 Před 7 měsíci +2

    So Focus Fire is bugged right now? As you point out, every time you tag an enemy and kill them while at 1 stack, you immediately gain 1 stack. Ignoring the 2 second stack timer.
    I'm not sure I would still take Redirect Fire and Focused Fire (especially Focused Fire). In your demo for example, you only went above 5 stacks twice, both times you applied more than 5 stacks on an enemy which would have died just as fast had you applied 5 or fewer stacks. Although I appreciate Focused Fire also allows you to reach 8 stacks of Redirect Fire (I think?), is that potential extra 5% damage, at 8 stacks worth the talent point? And in the case of Redirect Fire, I feel like it's just causing pointless overkill damage a lot. At least in my testing it was.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Redirect Fire comes up literally every time you kill someone with a tag. I can't see how near permanent 12% damage for you and any nearby team mate is situational (that stacks with the ping). Focused Fire is definitely more situational if you don't take redirect fire, but if you do its worth while.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci +5

      I haven't rigerously tested it, but presumably the way it would be architected is that coherency is a radius around the character's origin. So I would assume all "coherency" based effects are applied based on the radius.

    • @monkfishy6348
      @monkfishy6348 Před 7 měsíci +2

      It is only for the Aura node.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci

      That's actually awful. But you are correct on more thorough review. Charismatic only effects the Aura. I will be ditching this for some other talent I guess. Probably 10% melee damage. @@monkfishy6348

      We got together a team of crack experts - Charismatic effects your coherency radius. Its 10m by default and 15m with Charismatic. It also daisy chains between members of the party so you can be strung out in a line and everyone can get the buffs. @@monkfishy6348

      So your recommendation is to keep it? I feel I get more confirmed kills with it on. I use lots of replenish toughness for others in coherency passives too

      @Reginald-sc9tk perfection 🤣 imma give this one a go tonight! Looks fun. I haven't tried the tagging skill yet, been addicted to my voice of command with marksman keystone using hellbore mk2 (love the bayonette stab on that thing). of course, using krieg cosmetic lol.

      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Bayonet is extremely fun. This can easily be tweaked a touch to use plasma too, just ditch the reload skill and tax node and find something else good on the talent tree. @@Cederlof_Ink

      @Reginald-sc9tk I'll give it a go with bolter as plasma is so overused at this point haha. And yeah putting the bayonette down is tough. I'm sad I missed out on the commisar cosmetics haha

    I rewatched the video like 3 times trying to catch the part where you did regen your missing thougness with Target Down!, to then realize you were playing with Confirmed Kill all along, that's cheating, and is that a competitive urge proc at 14:30?
    I'll trust your word though, i'll try target down anyways and see how many times it manage to get me some thougness back, so far its 0 times, but i've only tried it one mission
    worst thing that can happen is that i got baited

      I have a few pieces of footage in here where I cut in some of my earlier versions of this build because the only difference was dropping Confirmed Kill and Competitive Urge for a tax node and Precision Strikes. This is a minimal gameplay difference. I guess I didn't really notice that my demo footage was before I cut this from my talent pool. I'll pin a comment about it.

    Yet another build stolen and improved by Reginald.
    I swear, the past 3 times I've felt out a build that seemed pretty fun and worked surprisingly well, you've eventually post up a video with a calculated and refined version.
    Not that I'm complaining mind you! I at least know my intuition is on the right track and I get to try your build without too much weapon re-tuning.
    Can confirm from pre-playing my proto-build of this,
    It's a fun playstyle!

    • @astrovarius543
      @astrovarius543 Před 7 měsíci +2

      I kinda think of this as the "True Commissar" build (if only we had a bolt pistol) because of the tagging, voice of command, and various team support elements.

    • @Reginald-sc9tk
      @Reginald-sc9tk  Před 7 měsíci +2

      I feel exactly the same. I will say build diversity isn't really that high with these trees. They're really nice to use and play with but its not like mixing and matching some minor passives and a single keystone and ability is ever going to really be that crazy in combinatrix land. So I suspect a lot of people come to very similar concepts very quick. That's why it to get my builds out fast.
      Bolt pistol someday soon we hope

    They NEED to reduce the time it takes to pull this thing out. It's ridiculously slow, and this is a fast paced game especially in the higher difficulties.

      No, they need to increase its bodyshot and limbshot damage and improve its breakpoints. A powerful weapon can be unwieldy. A mediocre weapon cannot.
