    My 2005 Tahoe went into theft deterrent mode when I pulled that fuse. Engine would start and immediately shut down on fuel cut off. It was easily reset by locking all doors with auto lock and then key opening the drivers door. Then the climate control reset worked as described. Thanks for sharing this procedure, it sure helped me!

    I just repaired my A/C automatic blend motor assembly by disassembling the unit, inspected the gears, inspected the large final drive gear and its copper fingers that slide on the variable resistor pad. I put more tension on the copper fingers and used the surplus lube from inside and applied it to the gears. Reinstalled the unit and started my 2012 GMC Sierra with the A/C on, varied the temp setting cold to hot and back again, IT WORKS! Just my time and no parts.

    Excellent Video....
    It happened to me, when I changed the battery, on a GMC Yukon 2005.
    I did these steps:
    1. Turn on the key, ( Not the engine ).
    2. Push the A/C Auto button.
    3. Wait for controls to reset.
    4. Turn off the key
    5. Wait one minute.
    6. Turn on the Engine.
    7. Not touch any A/C controls for two minutes,( let the complete system to recalibrate, You should hear the actuators moving ).
    8. After those two minutes, HVAC should be recalibrated.
    I didn't remove the fuse.
    Hint: When removing the battery make sure that A/C is on the coldest, so all the actuators are on the lowest setting.

    Thank you very much! This little trick also worked for my 2012 Chevrolet Cruze LT (European model without split A/C). If a Cruze owner sees this: the fuse is in the cabin fuse box, fuse for cabin blower (no. 11 according to manual). A 3 min. waiting time with the ignition on does wonders. You may have to perform the trick several times to calibrate the actuator properly.

    I have a 2009 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with dual climate controls. Had issues with AC blowing hot on driver side, cold on passenger side after battery had died and replaced. Twice. After installing new battery both times, had the AC issue I described above. I tried the HVAC fuse pulling behavior and disconnecting battery cable, waiting a few minutes, then reinstalling fuse/reconnecting cable with no success. Also tried setting the AC to "Auto" with engine on, turning engine off, then turning ignition to "on" (without starting) and waiting 1-2 minutes to initiate OBC calibration, after 1-2 minutes turn ignition to "off", pull the key, open then close driver side door to complete calibration (read that process somewhere on the "interweb"). Nope. Here's what worked for me both times: 1)Start truck, 2)shut AC off completely, turn radio off (you'll need to hear the calibration actually taking place in the dash behind the radio/AC), 3)turn off engine, 4)turn ignition to "on" without starting, 5)touch NOTHING and listen. You will hear very slight electronic circuitry sounds, then (for me) after 3-4 minutes you will hear the actuator doors opening and closing. This took another 1-2 minutes. Then you will hear nothing after about 5-6 minutes. Then wait some more unless you want to do this all over again. 6)turn key to "off", pull it out and exit vehicle (open door, exit and close door). That last part may not be necessary, but I live in Florida, tired of relying on passenger side AC to stay cool, and I didn't' want to take any chances that I screwed this up. I got AC working properly immediately after starting truck.

    I didn't know that Jack Osborne worked on ACs! ;)
    Great info...thanks for the post.
    FYI: The rear blend door is notorious for breaking. The replacement is expensive and prone to the same problem but one can be made out of steel fairly easily.

      @WHATTHEFIX  Před 6 lety

      Yes, I have contemplated making a manual adjusting arm/knob for the rear, since you really only need H or C. constant tuning seems unnecessary. Would require a hole thru the plastic.

  • @Thundarr995
    @Thundarr995 Před 4 lety +1

    The vacuum switch went bad on my 97 S10 p/u. The blend doors wouldn't open all the way at first,then they wouldn't open at all. When the AC is on the fan wouldn't turn on either. It also causes a vacuum leak and the engine will lack power. Evidently this must be a common problem with these trucks because I had to scour the wrecking yard for a switch. I think I found the last one in the yard. Only took about 20-30 min to fix. Running great again.

    I just tried this to check get my rear hvac to blend for heat. No heat in the rear but now my front blower motor vibrates so bad I can feel it in my seat!!! No issues with blower prior to recalibration

      The rear is a different animal. Its the blend door actuator on the passenger side in the back under the plastic panel. Speaking of animals... I had a blower motor shake like that before... mouse nest.

    Amazing! This worked first try - simply put - awesome!! I have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade that would periodically blow hot air (as in molten hot) , when the AC was running, it was total random. Also, the rear vents in seat rows 2 and 3 would all blow out that same hot air, that problem was ALWAYS , if they were turned on, even if set to 62 coldest AC temp. I live in Florida, so a real problem. This WORKED, took 5 minutes, your directions were perfect. God bless you!

  • @DashcamMania1
    @DashcamMania1 Před 3 lety

    Vehicle: '05 Cadillac ESV. Problem=No blowing of heat or a/c out of front system, but rear worked fine. Problem was resistor. This video was also a big help though. So, if front isn't working for control of pressure, check your resistor. But, you'll do it in this order: Take resistor/blower OUT, test it with 12v power. Then, check your incoming power wire, if it shows 12v, and your blower blows outside of truck using auxillary 12v power, your resistor is shot. Google the part number and pay the $27ish on Amazon, install new resistor, then enjoy working blower motor. Just went through this over this last week, only fixed myself due to shop screwing up, so I dove in and fixed myself. Probably saved a grand in the process, can surely bet they would've replaced blower, resistor, $150 diagnose fee, etc. Stupidly easy fix, but it'll baffle you if you don't know that the blower will blow outside the vehicle with 12v but it won't work while in it.

    my 2010 Yukon Denali was blowing hot driver side, cold passenger side; Found 4 fuses labeled HVAC, pull all 4 and waited 1 min, reinstalled and started truck, displayed showed 74 and I let it idle for ~5 mins then hit Auto on dash. Now Blows Hot & Cold when and where it should! Thank you, Thank you!

    My 2004 silverado does the heat from the AC ducts on a random basis. I found if I just push the AUTO button, shut off the truck, wait a couple minutes then restart it starts working correctly again.

    You may wanna check your cabin filter is your having issues with air not strong enough coming out of the vents, low air from vents usually means your cabin filter is full and dirty and needs to be replaced.

    Thanks for the tip, unfortunately it didn't work,,,but while trying your advice and pulling off my fuse box cover I noticed my AC clutch wasn't spinning when the air conditioner was running, I checked to see if it would spin freely by hand and it did, somewhat, so I took a screwdriver handle and gave the front of the clutch a couple lite taps and it took off spinning! 😁 what do you know my cold air started coming out. Lol. 😆 just wanted to say thanks for your advice, it did lead me to the problem I was having.
