      Star Wars Reading Club They didn't. None of them had force powers like the Space-Time Continuum destroying Force Storm nor Force Imbuing Powers like what Vader, Sidious, Starkiller, and Shadow Guards had. Or at least to the degree and capability. Starkiller clone 11xx force imbued a macro cannon that was doing jack to a Imperial 1 Class SD, and made one shot blow it violently apart.

      @midgetydeath Cunning is what allowed palpatine to destroy the republic, I believe that competition allowed old sith to rule and grow so strong. In my opinion the rule of two is cool, but a very unsustainable way of ensuring the sith live on. Just look what happened to Vader and palpatine, I'm shocked the sith existed this long. I dont care how strong you are, all it takes is one shuttle accident and your fucked. People say that weaker sith would unite and defeat the stronger 1 man ruler, but I dont understand why this logic cant be reversed. Dictators in human history had enemies AND many friends in key positions to maintain their rule. There would be sith that want to overthrow the ruler so they can gain power, and there will be sith that want to keep the current ruler alive so they can ensure their own survival. Not every sith is the same.

      Also sith had to go through an extremely hard right of passage. They also kept their blood as pure as they could. Marrying for power both political and force wise. They would also adopt slaves with strong force powers if they could pass the passage. But, the most important fact, they were born to war. The sith empire was not only a warmongering empire who focused on mainly military and scientific might but had recently been kicked out of space and almost slaughtered by the republic. Those few who lived on were strong and survivors, that fed their hate for the republic like never before. The constant war against the republic to regain their territory and power would only keep increasing their hate and anger as the war went on.

    • @alexcavazos3341

      That would breed the strongest siths as only the strongest would survive unlike the new sith where only the most manipulative and backstabbing of the sith survive.
      Vader was one of a kind compared to new sith but his injuries would deny him from reaching his full potential. After all the force only flows through the living and Vader was mostly machine. He for example could never use force lighting lke sidius could.

      I don’t disagree. But I don’t really agree either. That line meant that the Force could actually get results 100% of the time. Destroying a planet is just a kind of dumb idea that’ll create much more sympathy for your enemies. But another way of interpreting that line is that Vader meant the Force’s POTENTIAL power, or even the Force itself. The true potential of the Force is almost unlimited. You could move the entire galaxy if you had enough concentration and willpower. It’s just that the EU writers just tossed these insane powers around willy-nilly. Now when somebody lifts an X-Wing (which was a big deal back in the day), it’s underwhelming because we’ve seen Forceful beings do much crazier stuff all the time. Crushing a whole mountain was just sort of a regular thing that they could do. It kind of ruins the feeling of awe you got when you see stuff like the X-Wing floating out of the water. Sorry for the lengthy rant, I just wanted to get that out there.

      @@a.morphous66 Perhaps, but it changes the context of that scene. Luke is amazed by something that is commonplace amongst powerful force users. It shows he really is just scratching the surface and it's the reason why Yoda treated it like it wasn't anything special.
      Another one of those things that changes the context of the movie for a better story is when Vader learns Luke was his son. Vader hires Boba Fett to go after the one who destroyed the Death Star. Boba fails, but manages to tell Vader Luke's name. At that moment, every window on the Star Destroyer cracks as Vader realizes that Palpatine lied when he said that Vader killed Padme and thus loses all loyalty with him. Compare that to the reaction in Empire Strikes back, which is just a silent "Huh, neat." into a "Oh shit, I need to pretend I didn't know about it."

    The reason is actually very simple, and it's also very much a part of their nature. Sith were very distrustful and despite taking an apprentice never truly wished for that apprentice to surpass them, and so would often keep their greatest secrets and powers hidden as long as possible. Their apprentices, on the other hand, were greedy selfish turds who would often kill their masters by treachery and deception rather than (as Bane believed would be the case) when they actually surpassed their master in ability and skill... Over generations this led to a degeneration in the skill set and abilities being passed on from one to the next. On rare occasion the apprentice did truly surpass their master in all ways and learned all their secrets, but this was overwhelmingly exceeded by how frequently the apprentice managed to kill the master while being completely inferior all the while. Each time an inferior apprentice became the new master, THEIR apprentice had even less of an actual obstacle to surmount when it came to killing them.....So while Bane's original concept, the Rule of Two, was devised with the intention of making each generation of Master being successively more powerful than the last, it really had the opposite effect.

    • @LOPGOH
      @LOPGOH Před 2 lety +2

      I like where your minds at about this. Once they take an apprentice you can tell what they have learned and what their teaching is like through their apprentice. Apprentice gets to critique and carry on as well as finely tune their masters teachings. Also an insurance policy. If you're evil, you're probably gonna die. Then become a Gray Jedi + + situation. I like it.

    This is kinda incomplete, don't you think? After all what you said was also applied to the Jedi. The Jedi grew weaker because precious knowledge was lost during all of those wars. Not just the wars! Many of the most powerful techniques developed by the Jedi Masters, deemed too powerful, were not passed down to their apprentices. Instead they were recorded in some manuscript or holocron, but with all the wars and destruction of knowledge, those techniques were lost to the Jedi.
    After all Exar Kun ritual that he tried to perform. That would make him a entity made purely from the Force, granting him almost limitless power, was a ritual Exar Kun got from his raid on the Grand Jedi Library. So Exar Kun was gonna use forbidden Jedi knowledge. Knowledge that was mostly lost in that same time period due to the destruction of the Grand Library.
    Let's face it! Jedi and Sith alike became weaker because they didn't took the necessary precautions to preserve the knowledge they possessed.
    The Jedi many times made the mistake of placing all of their knowledge in one place making it easier to be destroyed.
    While the Sith were better known to leave caches of knowledge, only they would many times hide them or protect them so well, that eventually they became lost. Also they too made the same mistake of the Jedi. Of gathering knowledge in one place and then when place was destroyed, of course the knowledge was lost with it.

      AmericanGamer21 Really?
      Sidious did this…
      Consume all of space, alter time, and rip reality itself through the use of Force Storms.
      Burn entire planets with his Force lightning.
      mind dominate twenty billions, while also draining the a Force out of them.
      Did galactic size battle mediation for straight 23 years and he did it for 24/7 without having a rest during his reign as the Emperor of the Galactic Empire up until to his death above Endor.
      Mind dominate hundreds of quadrillions as proven, he can mind dominate an entire galaxy.
      Became so powerful that he exists as a being of pure dark side energy.
      Created Force Defense so durable that it can survive attacks that literally consume and destroys everything it touches, as to not let Luke and R2-D2 or Imperial fleets transport to Byss as to not being destroyed by the all-destructive power of the Force Storm and he can also create Force Defense on scales of entire fleets
      .
      It took every single goddamn Jedi from the time of their creation up until to 11 A.B.Y. to basically seal his spirit into Chaos (the Star Wars Equivalent of hell) for an eternity and still not killing him.
      Move at high-end relativistic speeds, when he is a spirit, he moves at MTFL speeds.
      Move a 19,000 Meter ship casually while also mind wiping trillions.
      If those deceased Jedi didn't appear in the first place, he would have succeeded to enslave the entire galaxy or the universe to the dark side, and make it into a dark side nexus, in which, he drains from, to make himself omnipotent, and have his mere presence spread across the universe, thus making himself omnipresent, and possibly omniscient on a universal scale.
      This is all the evidence of what all, I said in this post:

    • @EpaminondastheGreat
      @EpaminondastheGreat Před 6 lety +22

      "satanically" is used as an adverb and it just owes its name to the Prince of Darkness from our own world but as a word it is totally independent and can be used in stories which take place in another universes where the malevolent being of Satan does not exist neither in reality nor in the people's mind. If you want a Star Wars example, then take Grand Admiral Thrawn who said _what Jedi devilry is this?_ after watching the storm that the Bendu created during the climatic battle of Atollon. Devilry as a word also owes its name to the Devil who doesn't exist in Star Wars as you rightly said. Your own example is also a pretty good one but it is suggested that the word "God" does exist in Star Wars universe but it isn't similar with our own type of God who is supposed to be almighty, but instead, the beings called "gods" are something like the Ancient Greek ones who also possess many flaws and can also be defeated. Sith Emperor Vitiate for example from the EU story "Knights of the Old Republic" was seen by his subjects as "God".

    Simple, because they where so many, they constantly had to fend of others, so that trully only the strongest at the time would prevail.
    I mean, we know that Sidious killed his own master in his drunken sleep, and Plaugies killed his master when he was saving their lives, by collapsing the ceiling in a cave above him. What does this mean? It means that we don't know IF Plagueis actually was stronger than his master and if Sidious was stronger than him. We only know that they tricked them. We don't actually know IF any of them actually had a stronger connection to the force than Bane. While the idea Bane had, was that each new "sith master" would be stronger than the one before, in reality it isn't acctually so.

    • @FullMetalElric
      @FullMetalElric Před 4 lety

      It IS so. Here's the thing, for you strength is defined as force/saber/sithy stuff. Strength is only relevant insofar as you have the will and knowledge to apply it. Remember, they were stronger... but they still lost. The battles showed that he was below Yoda (If only by the tiniest smidgen) and that Mace, while being weaker, was just an unfavorable match up. Aside from them, he killed all the other Jedi simply through strategy. It's about creating the most cunning, patient, strategic sith. Instead of focusing on creating a godlike Sith who could mow through Jedi, it was about creating an infestation that would spread through the galaxy and corrupt it from within. While Yoda was being a space monk for 900 years, Sidious got just about as strong as him in terms of ability, while completely overtaking him in terms of machiavellian manipulation, generalship, strategy, and all the other side topics that would come up in the emperor playbook. Oh, and he didn't even take a century to get so good. He just has a greater mind, giving him a force multiplier (like the canyon being a force multiplier for the spartans), whereas the Jedi are kinda brain dead in comparison. It's probably why Kenobi is the best of them. For another example, look at Anakin. So much potential power, chosen one, etc etc... and look at what happens to him. Rash emotional action getting him maimed as well as having been turned into a Marionette. His weak mind turned his own power against him.
      I haven't read the Bane novels but it feels as if RO2 is more geared toward creating some with the utmost ruthlessness, cunning, charisma, manipulative ability, and strategy. I think it's a form of Art of War thing, where he wants a "Complete Sith" as opposed to all those ancient sith that flex with the force but typically just get betrayed/outsmarted/or just do stupid shit. I think the real lesson in R02 IS to overcome someone stronger than you. He was able to manipulate the circumstances in his favor in order to facilitate his victory against someone he may not have beat. It's the same principle he used to take the galaxy. Look at what he does; he turns 2 Jedi against the order, he used Dooku as well as his own position to make sure neither side is winning before he is ready, he turns his underling against each other so that no opposing faction gains to much power, even manipulates tiny subfactions in his favor. I like his pragmatic philosophy and mental acuity even more than his force powers.

    I disagree. The Banite Sith not only recaptured many of these old abilities, but in the case of Darth Sidious had actually gone above and beyond them. Sidious was able to drain whole planets at once. He could create Force Storm worm holes that destroyed whole ships in space. His own experiments in the Force and even in Technology with his World Devastators was well known.
    Even his version of immortality was better than the Ancient Sith Lord Darth Andedu. The Ancient Sith couldn't touch that. And had Vader been fully trained as a Sith Lord by Sidious instead of being used as a weapon or a pawn, he may actually have grown strong enough to go beyond Sidious and surpass him even with his injuries. Vader was better disciplined than Sidious. Less petty.
    Bane would have approved of him. Hell, what Sith had the power to create Life the same way Darth Plageuis had? Oh they were able to play God with mutations. But real life creating a superior Force User like Anakin was too much a feat for even them.

      It is the nature of the Dark Side to destroy itself. It's also why the Empire fell apart so quickly after Palpatine's death. When ambition is the singular prized quality, you get people in charge who shouldn't have risen above grunt work.

    If in the past 2000 years there were only 2 scientists at any given time, we'd still be sacrificing children for good weather. Bane might have kept the Sith alive with his way, if you can call that alive. You can't learn much new with only 2 of you. Progress comes from a huge sample size. It's no wonder they were stunted and did nothing for so long

    something I have been thinking about for a while, the ancient sith tended to have large numbers of force users, as well as all kinds of tools that helped them to channel their power, like meditation chambers and dark side amulets that amplified power and such, but the modern sith probably couldn't use those because they tended to live near places with large populations and not distant worlds far from prying jedi eyes, but they became stronger individually, able to use the force in ways that the ancient sith could not without the help of external factors, like multiple helpers or tools.

  • @DaveC2729
    @DaveC2729 Před 4 lety +3

    I always considered two possibilities: one, Force-sensitives tend to become Jedi and Sith, both of which are strongly discouraged to breed and die at above-normal rates; Force-sensitivity is evolving out of the galaxy. Two: the Force is universe-wide but NOT unlimited. It is replenished by living things, and as entire planets are destroyed across the universe and Force-sensitives use enormous amounts of raw energy, the Force itself becomes weaker. Either explanation could suffice for a progression of lessening Force-sensitivity leading to our Force-less universe today.

    The irony of the dark brotherhood is that for all of Bane's criticisms, they actually would have succeeded in wiping out the last of the Jedi if Bane himself hadn't betrayed them while they were on the cusp of victory.

    • @HotPinkst17
      @HotPinkst17 Před 5 lety

      Some Jedi would have escaped such a purge and while the 'brotherhood' only had themselves to vie with would have happily shifted to unending civil war... meanwhile the Jedi would remain on the job and focused. One Jedi knight can pull off anything, one Sith can screw up anything. Statistically Bane was right, they would always defeat themselves. The irony is the thought bomb and the rule of two didn't change this... Sith always turn on each other and it was always and ultimately their downfall.

    The REAl secret?
    Comics and games dont have to put as much money in making the shot in a real life setting within a movie.
    Because its cheaper to do OP force powers, when you dont have to produce it just draw it lololol. And where did all the cool force OP powers come from, comics.
    Why, cause you can just draw it, and Dark horse had no one telling them "What you can and cant do" with force powers, hence, why their all OP.
