Exar Kun's MURDEROUS Great Sith War | STAR WARS LEGENDS TIMELINE #4

- Following the utter annihilation and capitulation of the Sith species after their devastating invasion of Repuiblic space around 5000 years before the Skywalker saga, a long period of peace ensued. For almost a thousand years, there were very few miliatary skirmishes and the Sith were nowhere to be found. The only real threat to peace was the Third Jedi Schism, an event which saw a group of Jedi turn against the order in a similar way to the precursors to the Sith had a few milenia earlier as we discussed in previous videos in this series. However, though sheer incompetence, these dark Jedi almost immediately blew themselves up when trying to use an ancient celestial superweapon, meaning the Third Jedi Schism was quickly forgotten.
But in around 4000 BBY, the galaxy would shift yet again into a state of war and chaos. The first reason for this was the Mandalorians, a relatively unknown species which had taken over several worlds in the outrim, often using brutal tactics such as the extermination of entire species. The Republic though, did nothing to stop them, believing they were little more backwards warlords operating largely outside of Republic jurisdiction. But as they ransacked more worlds, the Mandalorians grew exponentially in strength. Through the seizure of technology and other military equipment, the Mandalorians became far more lethal, with the acquisition of the Baserlisk War droids being by far the most notably example.
Meanwhile in the deep core, the powerful Empress Teta system underwent a violent coup’ dedat, ushering Aleema and Satal Keto into power. Keto was a dark side user inamoured by the history of the Sith and she soon began the Krath Holy crusade against the Republic, inflicting a series of devestiting defeats against the Jedi using the fearsome looking Krath War droids.
But of greatest consequence to the fate of the Galaxy was the decisions of one young Jedi named Exar Kun. A talented but arrogant individual, Exar believed he could study and learn the dark side without fully succumbing to its power. His study of the dark side took him to Onderon, a world which at this time was ruled over by a dark side cult and embroiled in a bloody civil war known as the Beast Wars. This cult had been founded nearly 500 years before by a dark Jedi named Freedon Naad, who learned the way of the Sith through the force ghost of Naga Sadow, the mad Sith who invaded the Republic. During Exar’s exploration of Freedon Naads tomb on Onderon, he discovered the ghost of this ancient Sith, who warned him that the dark side was rewarding albeit dangerous.
Nadd unveiled hidden scrolls beneath his remains written by none other than Naga Sadow, prophesying Kun's powerful destiny within the dark side. Armed with these scrolls from Nadd, Kun's quest for Sith wisdom continued. Heeding the guidance from the scrolls, Kun journeyed to the ancient Sith planet, Korriban. Venturing into the Valley of the Dark Lords, he explored vast tombs holding the remnants of bygone Sith Lords. Yet, Nadd tested him by triggering a tomb's collapse while Kun was inside. His leg trapped and in agony, Kun pleaded for salvation. Nadd then proposed a deal: he'd rescue Kun if he fully embraced the dark side. Kun’s dark power then surged, lifting the debris into the air whilst simaltanously mending Kun's injuries. Consumed by dark side-infused anger and frustration, Kun unleashed a potent scream in the Force which rippled across the cosmos.
Nonetheless, Exar Kun did not embrace the dark side in this moment, although his temporary fall to the dark side also meant he lost the ability to fully control the light side. Despite the events on Korriban making him less powerful, he chose to depart to Yavin 4, the final resting place of Naga Sadow. There he found the remains of Sadow’s once great army of Massassi warriors. In a savage frenzy, they overcame the depowered Exar Kun, planning on sacrificing him to a giant beast. On the verge of death, Exar Kun fully embraced the dark side, letting out a powerful blast of energy which killed the creature and many of the Massassi warriors. With his power now greater than ever, he vanquished the spirit of Freedon Nadd and enslaved the remains of Naga Sadows army, vowing to follow in the footsteps of other great Sith that had come before him.
Elsewhere in the Galaxy, the Republics low-scale war with the Krath raged on. Fearing the menace of the Krath and their deployment of Sith magic, the Jedi convened a grand assembly on Deneba, specifically at Mount Meru. Countless Jedi Masters and Knights heeded this summons, converging at the gathering. Highlighting the peril presented by the Krath and the looming danger of the resurgent Sith, a Jedi named Ulic-Kel Droma outlined a strategy to neutralize the Krath and eliminate the Sith menace.

I am so glad to see these old comics, novels and original timelines being explored and brought to light finally. I’ve been a fan of these for years and always wanted to share this information with so many. It’s so cool to see it spread like this and be more easily accessible. i love legends and the old republic, iv recently started playing swtor with a couple of friends who have no experience of starwars at all and this series has been amazing for them. its really peaked their curiosity and has helped them get interested in the universe, your doing some great videos man keep it up i cant wait for the next episode about revan and malik.

@@alsimmonshellspawn6021maybe not, but the elements are still there. Hey, if it gets people interested in Star Wars, who otherwise wouldn’t be, is a good thing. There’s practically an infinite amount of enjoyment to be had from the storyline.

It sure feels as if the Sith from ages past make the power of today’s Sith seem pretty inconsequential. And the tangible power from the ancient artifacts, along with so many of the Force imbued SuperWeapons, make modern day Light and Dark Sides look pretty tame.
To me, it always felt like going all in on either only the Light Side or just the Dark Side would never work out in any ultimate sense. I would think the Jedi would sponsor the creation of an order that would control both sides, without succumbing to the Dark.
I’m hoping this is where Revan will fit. The next episode will be my first proper introduction to Revan and his entire backstory. I know his journey eventually comes to an end, but I’m really hoping his story doesn’t, and that somehow his character gets renewed such that he can wield both sides, control The Force, and become a benevolent king. And perhaps create a new order with the same power that safeguards the galaxy - similar in concept to what the Jedi Order tries to do, but always falls short.

I love this guy so much I made my own version of his lightsaber, Single hand hilt with two blades. I even practice with it too And it is decently effective with how I have to use it because I don't have retractable Blades Or blades that can lower in such intensity That they could pass right through my body That don't hurt me So I have to use it more like a bow staff But still able to fight with it like a true double saber. I was even able to beat my friend who has The phantom menace maul saber pretty easily, Thankfully because the size I was able to keep the blade and handle Closer to my body And because the handle is also lighter I was able to move with a quicker While my friend required 2 hands to use his properly And he had to take more wide sweeps To avoid his body He and I are the same height At 6'5 My blade comes up to about my chin His is over his head And his blades are the same length as mine at 30 inches with a 2 inch deep socket, So him having that extra almost foot of Handle Made his slightly more cumbersome than mine. And even when he switched to Dual wielding By separating the handles I was still able to deal with him And because I had a much lower space Between the emitters That my hand filled up Theoretically it would be harder for him to Cut the blade in half and i could move my Single handle just by twisting or twitching my wrist or spinning my hilt in my fingers
Sadly there are a few things incorrect. Ulic was never found guilty at all. They didn’t even get to any deliberation of the verdict thanks to Exar Kun crashing the trial
Man, trillions? And Exar’s coming back in the future? Gotta wonder what went on in the minds of the Jedi to stop The Great Hunt. No wonder Luke got fed up with the Jedi Order - they do just bring death and destruction to the galaxy. Although I guess someone has to wacamole the Sith when they start messin’ about, causing mayhem and chaos.
You’d think they’d just do a ‘once and for all’ takedown of the Sith, but what would that do for the merchandising right? Cuz that’s where the real money from the movies are from. 😉
Exar kun rivals papaltine reborn in raw force power potential knowledge abilities and skills, infact i think exar kun possessed far more knowledged of sith magic archemy rituals lightsaber skills ect as he possessed the dark holocrom which was the most powerful holocrom in the mythos with over 100,000 years of sith magic archemy rituals lightsaber skills also possessed many others holocrom artifacts jedi holocroms and scrolls from ossuss all that knowledged made exar kun extremely powerful he was the darkest power in the galaxy at that time far more powerful than vitiate who was hidding at that time and abeloth who was sealed, he also have quotes and estaments of been the most powerful and dangerous sith lord near 4000 years before the birth of luke Skywalker. the ritual exar kun performed would had made him all powerful if it wasn't for the jedi interruption he was already the greatest sorcerer in history even though the ritual made him an entity like tenebrae and papaltine reborn did he became a nexus
