How Darth Revan ALMOST Took Over The Republic | STAR WARS LEGENDS TIMELINE #6

  • Aside from Anakin Skywalker, Revan perhaps stands as the most significant figure in the annals of galactic history. Known by many titles-celebrated as the Revanchist Crusader, scorned as Revan the Butcher and feared as Darth Revan, his legacy is as multifaceted as it is impactful.
As we discussed in the last video in this Star Wars Legends Timeline series, Revan played a pivotal role in the Mandalorian Wars. His bravery and skill turned the tide of the war in the Republics favour, ultimately thrawting Mandalore the Ultimate and his hordes of Mandalorian neo-crusaders. This though, came at a cost. To win the war, Revan increasingly resorted to morally questionable actions, ultimately culminating in Revans destruction of an entire planet in order to finally defeat the Mandalorians.
Already sliding towards the dark side, Revan was told by a dying Mandalore the Ulimate that the entire war had been orchestrated by a secret Sith Empire. At the end of the war,Revan and Malak alongside a sizeable portion of the Republic fleet, travelled to the Unknown Regions, wishing to confirm Mandalore the Ulimates troubling revelation.
Their destination was the dark side ice planet of Rekkiad. There, they uncovered the hidden tomb of Sith Lord Dramath the Second. It was here, amidst the chilling silence and eternal frost, that they discovered a datacron nestled within the sarcophagus of Dramath, a relic that not only confirmed the veracity of Mandalore's tale but also whispered secrets of a forgotten planet named Nathema.
Driven by a relentless pursuit of truth and justice, Revan and Malak, set their course for Nathema. This distant world, located in the remote reaches of the Chorlian sector, held the promise of answers and the allure of uncovering the Sith who had manipulated Mandalore into waging war. What greeted them upon arrival, however, was beyond their darkest imaginings-a planet utterly devoid of the Force, a barren wasteland where life and the vibrant echo of the Force had been extinguished.
As they delved deeper into the mysteries of Nathema, the two Jedi unraveled the harrowing tale of Sith Lord Vitiate. Vitiate's legacy was one of unparalleled cruelty; through a sinister ritual, he had not only claimed the lives of most Sith lords but had also left an entire planet lifeless, securing his own immortality.
Yet, Vitiate's ambitions stretched far beyond immortality. As discussed earlier on in this series, he had gathered Sith children, leading them into the uncharted territories of the unknown regions. There, away from the prying eyes of the Republic and the Jedi, he began to forge a new Sith Empire in secrecy.
With a resolve as unyielding as durasteel, Revan and Malak embarked on their perilous quest to uncover the hidden Sith menace, a journey that led them to the world of Dromund Kaas. Hidden beneath its perpetual storms lay the heart of a reborn Sith Empire. Disguising themselves as mercenaries, the duo infiltrated this world of shadows and secrets. Over months of meticulous investigation and quiet observation, they pieced together the grim tapestry of the Empire's grand design, unveiling the Emperor's audacious plans to unleash an invasion upon the unsuspecting Republic.
Yet, despite the gravity of their discovery, Revan and Malak, swayed by pride and a burgeoning overconfidence in their own abilities, dismissed the notion of alerting the Republic. They believed that they alone held the power to thwart the Emperor's schemes. Driven by this belief, they sought a path to the very heart of darkness-the Imperial Citadel in Kaas City-intent on confronting the Sith ruler in his own palace.
Their unlikely ally in this daring endeavor was Yarri, a member of the elite Imperial Guard sworn to protect the Emperor. Unbeknownst to the Jedi, Yarri was ensnared by an unbreakable bond to the Emperor's will, her offer of assistance a ruse leading them into a meticulously laid trap. Upon reaching the Emperor's throne room, the stark reality of their folly was laid bare. The Sith Emperor awaited them, ensnaring Revan and Malak, warping their wills and binding them to his own dark purpose.
In the twisted sanctum of the Emperor's throne room, the fall of Revan and Malak was complete. Their identities, once symbols of hope and defiance, were now marred by the titles bestowed upon them by their new master: Darth Revan and Darth Malak, Dark Lords of the Sith. Stripped of their autonomy and armed with malevolent new purpose, they were dispatched back to the Republic. Their mission was to harness the ancient power of the Rakatan Star Forge, a task that would pave the way for the Sith's shadowy tendrils to choke the life from the Republic.

Revan was a true legend of the old republic, whose legacy would echo throughout galactic history for decades after his time. My favorite Star Wars character

Revan showed that Jedi are needed on the front lines and also a need for a military wing in the Order as much as peacekeeper one.

Kotor 1 and 2 are to this day the greatest Star Wars stories ever, and two of the greatest games of all time. I can't count the number of times I replayed both, doing the darkside and lightside stories multiple times each, and even playing as a male a couple times (I'm female irl, so I preferred playing as female Revan and Meetra Surik). These games/ stories left an incredible nostalgia on me, to the extent I'm craving to replay them again now, despite the old graphics. They're just THAT good. To anyone who hasn't played them both: PLAY them! The story makes those games timeless. I find it amazing how many "Revan fans" there are in the SW fandom who have never played these games. They've simply heard about him, read the books, seen videos like this, etc. One of my closest friends named his newborn son Revan last year, which I think is really cool. My own name is a Sith lord in SWtor, because I was a minor consultant for writing a couple questlines for SWtor, and I was able to get Darth Jadus named after me (he's in one of the dark side storylines. I honestly forget which. Either the agent or the inquisitor.)
Anyway, thought I'd share my thoughts. Thanks for the great video! Took me back in time for sure. I miss the days I could just play games and read Star Wars and fantasy books. I'm a married woman now though, with real life responsibilities, and I'm a cancer survivor, so I don't have the free time to enjoy this stuff as much anymore.
May The Force Be With You.
