I was super impressed with the climb rate I achieved with the 303 flying tandem. With my weight of 155lbs and Ethan at 220lbs, our take off was quick and the climb out was comfortable. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve with this upgrade. Look forward to more of this trike!
What is the fuel cost?
Yeah when Spring comes around looking forward to seeing some epic tandem flights!!!
Nice car 😎
I'm sad i can't use one
Men don't ask how much is to much horsepower. It's not a real question. Congratulations on the build it's nice to be happy with what you work for.
Good job kid. Been watching you ever since you started. new Mercedes new f250 new fifth wheel new house .....and even though these are all material things.... I am so proud of you ...
as a Young Man you've worked hard. you've stuck with it ....you're not a druggie...
you're not a boozer.... you're just a good man. Keep it up Tucker you're another great AMERICAN example for other guys your age.... don't let the television set tell you that it can't be done .... you are a living example .....a young kid and you're making the American dream come true .... Smile on your face positivity and the epitome of American can do attitude.
all you other young men (all over the world boys pay attention to this young self made American.
watch this kid go and do it like he does it emulate what he does and you WILL make it. never give up.
Tucker, your way with passengers is great. You're straight forward with them, give them calm, clear guidance, and get them involved in the flying experience. Classy all the way.
I also like your systematic approach to diagnosing issues, plus leaving good safety margin when in a new situation (weight, climb rate), with new equipment, or directly following a repair.
Awesome videos Tucker. I can see why you enjoy flying. Thanks for taking us along.
I think you really put your channel as one of the best fun, informative, and educational channels out there. Thank you for continueing to do the hard work of finding new content on a regular basis.
Bought a shirt . Great quality . Accurate presentation of product on website. I think this is is/was the major concern at the beginning of e commerce , people were scared or worried that what peoole purchased on websites would not be what they thought they were getting. Continue having integrity in everything you do, and you open yourself up to happiness and possible success . It is one of fountations of trust between you and your viewers , and businesses partners and consumers.
Great post Tucker. My own personal excitement is building for the eventual reality of my own rig.
I would do anything to get into this hobby. I'm in CA and have no clue how to start. I've seen every single video you've put out. I'm in Fresno, CA and I hope someday I get in the air!
Hey everyone. I've been watching Tucker for years now and have wondered why we've never seen any carb jetting issues. This is the typical jetting problems that we 2-strokers deal with. Its NOT a big deal, you learn how to re-jet. In the ATV world we re-jet everytime the weather gets really cold or really warm, or if we're riding in a new area with a big elevation difference. So air temps and elevation are the two big jetting factors, we also have to consider the fuel type and the fuel mix ratio. Its not that hard to re-jet, some guys HATE the process, others enjoy the challenge of achieving perfect jetting. Wish you had Kehein carb brand instead.
I used to be afraid of it as a teenager - heard all the horror stories from guys who didn't know what they were doing melting their engines down. I was so broke, that was like staring down the barrel of a loaded 12 gauge, lol! 35 years later, it's about the easiest thing in the world to do. Now I have an ear for it. As long as it's not too far lean or too far rich, you can tell exactly what the engine wants. Sometimes when too far in either direction, the engine will sound similar. Usually the smoke plume on a premixed machine is the giveaway that it's in the rich direction. If I had my way, I'd have a V8 2-stroke in my truck, lol. 😄
Thanks for explaining. But even ignoring the jetting issue, it seems to me the engine was not quite ready for prime time out of the box. Tucker is experienced and skilled. He can land safely with an engine out, and he can do proper engine surgery. He also has good contacts in the industry. That's not the case for the average user, I don't think. So I find the issues concerning.
@@joesterling4299 Indeed. They definitely rushed this unit out the door long before it was ready. This is going to kill a large chunk of sales. They’re going to regret this decision. Especially Polini’s tactic of blaming the end user for the problems initially. Big mistake! Going to hurt them in the long run.
It’ll be interesting to see if reliability problems or major failure occurs with this engine. Water cooled and using LL or VLL means the engine must be tuned, monitored and operated a bit differently than with the air cooled engines.
Tucker, it's always nice to have a bit more power and a bit more capability just in case. Props to Polini for being able to diagnose and correct the engine issue over the phone, that's very impressive. It looks to me like you've used your exceptional technical skills/flying skills to dial in Big Bertha with all the right equipment to really fly well. Total F-cking Legend indeed!!! 😆
Great content, Tucker. Thank you for providing so much valuable information.
Glad to hear you finally got it dialed in. It won't be long before the weather warms up and the skies overhead will once again be full of paramotors.
Seems pretty ridiculous Polini is shipping engines that need all of these upgrades to run properly.
Seriously, if you know switching to 100LL causes it to run rich then why not mention it when ordering all the other fixes.
At the very least it should be mentioned when buying that this could be a concern depending on your location and let the buyer decide. For those not in the know, it takes weeks to get parts sometimes and with all of the world events it's even less predictable right now.
Another reason why switching to electric PPG is gonna be so nice
@@ZachWhitehead what brand?
I believe they sent him this pre-release, so it wasn't a production model. But high performance engines are touchy. It what it is.
Yes, it took 4 months for me to get a barrel and piston from polini and im in uk, they have hundreds of lorries a day coming here.
I'm a bit confused with Polini after these two videos. They were the ones that said it needed AV gas, but they didn't install the correct jet in the factory? I know they gave you the engine, but I didn't realize you were doing R&D for them.
Hi Richard. Jetting a motor is dependent on a few things, like the customers elevation and ambient temperature. All customers need to adjust/re-jet their carb's jetting for their situation. Its just part of the experience of owning a high performance 2 stroke motor.
Thank you for sharing, very informative. I'll stick to the Thor 250 DS for now.
I appreciate your videos and all the information that comes with it. Thank you. I fly Cosmos 300, and there is not tuning necessary or electric start issues at all. The motor is ready to go right out of the box. No bogging during the launching or full power. Good luck with your Polini.
Different altitude, Different gas, theres plenty that can effect high performance engines.
My friend changes injectors all the time on his older Alfa Spider, whenever we go into the French Alps. Really depends on the hight above sea level where you operate.
I love my RMZ 500! It’s got the power i need for big passengers and mountain flying!
That cat said," hell no", when you put it in the shot at 14:12 mark. 👊😂
Flying with someone it is awesome, to share this beautifull experience
That Benz is Dope Bro! Oh and the flying things are cool too lol
You might want to either check the ampage on the battery, or install a more powerful starter. Because either or both of them are obviously not powerful enough.
My starter motor was doing that. Put in a new one and the problem went away. There were some small parts in the bendix that became worn and rather than deal with a partial repair, it was more economical on my time to just replace it.
with a jetted carb you need to be mindful of outside air-temp and altitude as well there is a huge difference between it being 30 degrees out and 50 or 60 as it gets warmer it will go richer and as you climb higher it again gets richer but also potentially colder and thus effectively denser air to a point at least
The title of the video was how much power is too much power? I missed that in the video. For me, power represents climb rate in feet per minute/meters, fuel burn rate, ground speed, etc. Your videos are helpful and well done. I have viewed many videos featuring various para motors and have only seen the ground speed given once. Anyway, thank you for the great video's.
im not sure if this goes for carburators on paramotors the same way it does on 2 stroke mopeds, but that jet looks very familiar, and with moped jets you dont want to force screw them into your carburator so hard. its like with sparkplugs, a little tight is tight enough
Come back to Arizona man! I’d love to tandem or get some lessons. Arizona wind is harsh though
@3:43 "this should work, I don't see why not!" 😂😂😂 I'm just imagining a commercial pilot saying that with the announcements
Haha, as long as you keep your expectations low, you are destined to be impressed. 😂
Never seen a brand new engine needing so much tweaking before
that is normal for High Performance 2 stroke engines.
My Saturday ritual is make a pot of coffee and check out what Tucker is up to. Two thumbs up
I'm still looking at a Moster purchase for myself but it definitely seems like they need some more work on this engine.
Tucker, I am a huge fan of your videos and watch like it's my job... that being said, you can't monowheel by all those cars in your shop without raising huge questions about what's underneath the covers. Maybe show what you have in there. Notice I didn't bring up the current video? BTW, why wouldn't you try this engine on your regular rig???
Epic video man! Love it
I gotta say the wing tip touch is cool and all. The wings and lines get tangle together your both toast. Shit happens so I wouldn't mess with that.
Cutted mustache finally! Now i can enjoy your videos again.
I wanted to suggest trying to build sometype of flowtacion device for paramotor or trike setup for water. After watching vid of guy who landed in pond or lake it sounds like there is nothing on the market right now. Or a quick release mechanism for letting go of gear if landing in water or it could be a container attached to the equipment that opens up if sensor gets wet. Like like on cruise ships. Sensor senses being underwater and raft is automatically inflated. Maybe all these ideas are to heavy and that is why there is nothing out there on the market. You would be the man to find out, and inform us .
HI Tucker I love your videos very,,good info have a question do you know somthing about this Paramotor wing. Nova-Phelix-25. 39 feet. do you think is a good wing to star on the Paramotor word..Thanks very much
Onewheel xr, nice. wonder if you caould ride it during takeoff. That would be a trick.
Dude that squarebody Is mint
Awesome 👌 Thank you 😊 🙏
What do you think of the polini motors? I just got my first paramotor (parquet volution 2 with polini thor 130) and haven't even flown it yet.
the newer version Triox 2 now has wiglets to prevent pendulation issues the triox 1 can bring. polini 303 initial release has detonation issues, polini sends a new carb needle to run more rich plus a larger intake screen as well as a new head for lower compression ratio to eliminate known detonation issue causing hole in piston or seizure. now it seems tuckers update kit (new carb needle) has it running too rich, so looks like the carb needle is making it too rich and have to make a jet swap as well, so now I will assume polini will send correct jet along with new needle any known detonation issues I would recommend always use high octane fuel like 100 octane or higher
Is that your entire shop?? Didn’t know it was that big! Are they all your cars too?? Would love to see a garage shop tour on the second channel
curious why the carabiner connects to a strap vs directly to the frame? also do you fly with a reserve when flying tandem?
Nice benz flexin 👌😎
Hi there I was just wondering if you can tell
Me if dudek universal 1.1 28 meter is a good wing for a beginner thanks and I love your videos!!!
That's an impressive engine!
Hey Tucker, now could you test Vittorazi Cosmos
Be interested to have you test the fulcrum power pod, pretty please 😎
Tucker,
What model trike is this? I’ve been looking for one of these. Thanks!
I know it sucks having to make all of these changes with a brand new engine but I find it interesting and in the end the juice will be worth the squeeze!
Is there a reason you went with Polini instead of the cosmos 300? I have looked at both of them but would really appreciate your perspective. Thanks.
My flying weight is 290. I'll be training on a trike this spring. This may be the rig for me.
for what total loading is the Wing made, just more power from the engine isnt the same then having a bigger wing, at least not in Paragliding
I would get them to fix that electric start. It should work !!! You might need it mid air.
Hello sir from Georgia. I am tandem paragliding pilot and I'm going to start Paramotor tandem flight. I have already bought Ozone mag max 2 wing and FLY Product Rider monster 185 plus. As you are experienced pilot can you give me advice. Does Vitorazi 185 plus have enough power for tandem foot launch. what is max total weight should be for safe flight for this flight.
Hey Tucker what are the dimensions of that garage you have?
Maybe some gauges for the engine ? Exhaust gas temp , water temp , rpm, hour of run time ?
Im new and going to get into this what do you think about putting a simonini mini 3 for foot take off ? Im 6'6 300 is that overkill? Better to have them to need is my thoughts
sounds like the start motor does not have enough power (it engages, not enough power, disengages, reengages, etc). May want to try another battery/check charge/put battery on house charger to confirm alternator is working
Is that the PintX? Just got one for my son for his birthday.
Is there anything you can put on a paramotor to make it more visible to airplanes?
Sweet Merc Flex. 🙏🌍✌️
What do you think of these small engine paramotors I see being advertised?
Fantastic video as always. Kinda low key want extra content with your MT-10 and Mercedes :) Maybe not main channel videos, cuz this is for para-motors....maybe another channel :P
Edit 1: Something like "Tuckers Garage", where you can postm ore videos on your vehicles, repairs and just fun content.
Whats a third YT channel gonna cost you lol....just more of your time :P
Edit 2: Any trip to the air field could be a 'vlog' style video...idk if you're into that sort of thing. Or your mobile home repairs in a time lapse.
But what if you strap a small turbo to it?? or have a small belt driven super charger CnC'd to fit?? But what if you could strap a small rocket motor to it? But what if Colin Furze built you that rocket motor?
Check out that NVolo build too 😱
Sick car bro
and AV gas blend?
So you had to go a jet size smaller/leaner for 100LL. Interesting.... Can I get a 38m Triox in Custom Colors?
250 has a rectifier for lead acid battery and change mine KTM rectifier or lithium batteries works perfect save the battery
Do you know if any Airplane Pilots in the US use FLARM? It's an Anti Collision System that is used by most of the Private Pilots in Europe and even with rescue helicopters. It starts to be common for Paramotors and Paragliders, so the other Pilots can see us better.
vehicle batteries loose charge when sitting un used for a period of time. (ie two weeks or more)
When are we going to get the “plane guy” on video?
need to know egt and rpm to realy dial it in so you dont damadge it
Shoot... you almost give me hope one day I might actually fly.
Tucker it appeared your float bowl was loose in the front left corner.
hi tucker big fan
That has to be one of the easiest carbs to rejet!
So since the electric start seemed to be more of a bother than it's worth, would it make sense to just eliminate it to save weight?
You don’t need to worry about a half a pound on a trike quite as much as a foot launch. An electric starter is a massive safety feature when you experience an issue and need to try to restart in the air. Never tried it. But pull starting while trying to fly would suck.
how does it run on E85?
It must be an amazing feeling to be able to lift above houses and trees like this.
Looks like you missed a screw on your carb. Was that intentional? Hope it got fixed! Safe flights.
Great video. Wow, is that your garage? How many car do you have?
I think he just rents part of that garage.
How do I get a 3 blade 140 cm prop for a polini Thor 202? Do you sell them Tucker?
I don't stock those but I can order any Eprop! Just email me at info@tuckergott.com 😊
Definitely can hear it at full throttle. Needs recalibration.
Do you change the position of the wing anchor according to the weight of the passenger? How?
Yes! You loosen two allen screws on each side and the hang points slide.
What kind of car is that?
You either need a decompression valve foe the starter to work so the starter isn't trying to fight the high compression of a 2 stroke, or get a bigger electric motor
Wrong 🤦♂️
what car is that
It's surprising that paramotor engines are still carby shod instead of injected , since injection on 2 stroke dirt bikes is fairly common place these days .
Bruh I haven’t watched his videos in so long that I didn’t know who he was with the new cuts
The cold was graphically demonstrated when Ethan took the controls and his arm was shaking like crazy. Either that, or you scared the hell out of him. :-)
That rmz 500 has me wondering about a 503 or 582. How big can you go and still get a tandem paramoter exemption?
The Eco 2 with the RMZ500 is right on the edge of 103 limits.
@@TuckerGott is tandem allowed for anything falling under 256 pounds or is it for paramoter only? I realize a paramoter is the lightest option, but I'm thinking it is the only option to fly tandem without sport pilot license. I also know tandem requires an exemption for training. I'm wanting to teach a passenger how to go paramoter camping, lol.
Dude nice take me I’ll pay I’ll even wear the merch lol
How do you determine the jet size???
Just like Tucker is doing it...Start with standard jetting, then make small, incrimental changes to optimize performance. In aircraft with a CHT (cylinder head temp) gauges, cool=rich and hot=lean.
Tucker,
You need to warm the engine completely, or you risk what is known as a "cold seizure". Water cooled 2-strokes are particularly susceptible to this if care isn't taken. Does the motor have a thermostat in the cooling system?
If so, what can happen is this: you warm the engine and think it is up to temperature. Then you apply full throttle for takeoff. The piston starts expanding. The water jacket thermostat then opens fully, and cool water surrounds the cylinder, causing it to shrink, as the piston continues to expand. This can cause the piston to start contacting the cylinder walls with increasing friction, and lead to a seizure.
Here's what to look for, if you have a water temp gauge. As you warm the engine, watch the gauge carefully. You should see the temp start to rise It may then stop rising for a short period. But if there is a thermostat in the cooling system, the thermostat may still be mostly closed. Keep warming the engine, and watching the temp gauge. When the thermostat opens completely, you should see the temp gauge drop slightly, then slowly come back up as all the coolant in the system comes up to temp. When this happens, the engine should be fully warmed.
This is how those of us who fly ultralights and lightsport aircraft with Rotax 582 engines warm them up. And it works well for us.
I'm surprised these aren't used for crossing the border with a payload🤔Great video.ThankQ.TkEZ>UK
Put the AMG V8 on the trike !
