Paramotor Thrust Tests in the Parajet Test Cell

  • In this video we are introduced to the Parajet Test Cell which is a lab at the Parajet factory which accurately measures many different parameters from Thrust to Fuel Mix.
    Note: My Paramotor uses a 3 blade e prop and Cynthia's uses a 2 blade Helix. The Helix comes standard with the Parajet Maverick and the E Prop was ordered separately. The main reason I went with the E Prop 3 blade is that it creates a high pitch sound meaning I can record better in flight audio due to frequency separation between my voice and the prop sound. I will do a video about this in the future. The extra thrust is a bonus!

      God has said in the Quran:
      { O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous - ( 2:21 )
      [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 )
      And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 )
      But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 )
      And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 )

    I presume the fuel mixture reading taken from the exhaust probe the test engineer fitted?

    Very nice test. but i thought engines were putting out more thrust. because my homemade electric paramotor puts out 53kg of max thrust on lite version and my XT version puts out 60kg of thrust. i am working on a new motor that can put out 77kg to 90kg of thrust. possibly very good to build a paratrike for 2 with that. all clean electric power, less noise, no smoke, maintenance free, and extremely light weight.

    • @GregAnthonyHarris
      @GregAnthonyHarris  Před 2 lety

      These numbers are impressive. What are you run times and what is the weight of the rig at those thrusts?

    • @alishanmao
      @alishanmao Před 2 lety +1

      @@GregAnthonyHarris My customer in USA did 65 minutes of flight with 75V 22AH battery pack. spinning 42 inch prop. max weight he reported was under 24kg. That is the XT version. pilots from 80 to 95kg can take off easily. Currently I (62kg) and my instructor (84kg) we are testing the lite version that puts out max 53kg of thrust. I can take off at half throttle and cruise at 10 - 20% throttle only. My instructor takes off at around 70% Throttle and cruises around at 25-30% throttle. Lite version with batteries and everything is only 18kg heavy. 90kg thrust i can build but its an overkill for me. any mistaken throttle can make me take off vertically making my glider fall behind. In fact I was thinking 2 x 90kg thrust combo, and i will not need a paraglider canopy. I can basically build myself a bi copter to fly around :)

    • @alishanmao
      @alishanmao Před 2 lety

      only thing that electric paramotors lack now, is the flight times. but they have many more benefits. like at higher altitude engines won't put out enough power and thrust due to thin air, while electric paramotors will not be affected by that. if a person can carry more batteries for sure they can fly longer. with 90kg thrust motors, we can even build paratrike and carry 40AH to 50Ah batteries to fly over 2 hours or more

    I know it would vary depending on factors, but what kind of cruise speed would you see at wide open throttle?

    • @GregAnthonyHarris
      @GregAnthonyHarris  Před rokem

      Impossible to say sadly as there are too many variables in flight. On the ground on a trike which isn’t connected to a wing I would say the three blade would increase your speed by about 10-15%

We now also have a hypobaric chamber on site where we can test equipment (including paramotors) up to 40,000ft and minus 30 degrees centigrade. Obviously not with normal PPG engines!
