- The World’s Best White Queso
2 pound block Velveeta Queso Blanco Cheese
1 cup whole milk
2 Tablespoons butter
4 ounce can diced green chiles, undrained
2 Tablespoons diced pickled jalapeños
1 teaspoon taco seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Cut cheese into cubes and place in a crockpot. Pour in the milk and butter. Add the can of undrained, diced green chilies, jalapeños, taco seasoning, and garlic powder. Place the lid on the crockpot and set to LOW for two hours. Stir occasionally, about every 30 to 45 minutes. Serve warm.
*** This could be prepared in the microwave. Place all ingredients in a large microwave safe bowl and melt slowly, stirring every 30 seconds until the cheese is completely melted.

Hi there Tom and Melissa.... something you may not have thought of. Those boxes that the 2 lb. Velveeta come in are fantastic for organizing drawers. My mom used to use them for small items. Clips, rubber bands, special utensils, such as small knives, spoons, forks for serving pickles, olives, spreads. And now I do. Don't throw them away!!!
So do I, I use them for a lot of things. I’m glad you pointed it out.
I have also used the Velveeta Queso cheese with 1/2 block of Velveeta Jalapeno Cheese mixed. That way I don't have to cut up the jalapenos separately. Turns out good as well.

The lock on crockpot is for transporting. (learned this the hard way!)
Locking the lid during cooking, will keep the steam in -producing pressure --which could affect the slow cooker's performance.

Ive just recently found out about the locks on my slow cooker. I have used them when cooking. Now I don’t. That’s a good tip to share.
Yes my ex had the locks blow open and shot out juices all around. Made a mess from the built up pressure and advised her that was for transporting. The lid even had the small steam port on it but built up some pressure
Would depend on it you have vents or not.

Looks good and easy to make. Just one recommendation use a crockpot liner makes it a whole lot easier to clean your crock pot. I am definitely going to try this recipe

If you are like me and can't tolerate even a little heat from the jalapenos (results from chemo) I buy the La Preferida picked Mild Jalapeno peppers, they have no bite but have that wonderful pickled flavor.
Oh I thought I was the only one sitting in that boat all by myself that could not handle spicy Heat! I have a very sensitive palate and tongue, and I can't even tolerate mild and neither can my husband. My husband accidentally brought home the wrong barbecue sauce that says spicy. I tasted it was hot with a kick!

I've always used the regular Velveeta to make my dip with a can of diced rotelle. But yours looks so delicious. I think that would be the way to go from now on. Thank you both for another great recipe

Everyone has their favorite chip. For me it is Tostitos with a Hint of Lime. For some reason, the citrus cuts through the richness of any cheese dip just enough and makes a fabulous flavor combo.
We eat Mexican every Wednesday night after church with friends. My favorite part is the cheese dip! Can’t wait to try this!

Just an FYI. You're not suppose to lock the lid unless you are transporting your crockpot. It isn't meant to be locked during cooking. Looks really delicious. Tfs.
Thank you I was just coming here to say this, but I was checking to make sure someone hadn’t already. I think that is a very common misconception that people should lock their lids while cooking. 💥 🚫

I made this exactly like the recipe and it was fantastic. I threw in some extra jalapenos to kick it up a notch. We had tacos and queso. So the next day, there was left over taco meat and each time I made a bowl of queso, I would stir in a couple tbs of taco meat. Was tremendous. I love your channel!

Hello Tom & Melissa - I will be trying this recipe. It looks great. I noticed your mild green chillies were hatch chillies. I have never had a mild hatch chili. I have bought hatch chillies that were fresh & also tried canned ones. Even the mild ones had a bit of a kick. Strange how that happens. Just a tip…when we make ours we use the plastic slow cook liner that protects the cooker making it an easier cleanup. Those liners can just be tossed afterwards or if you have enough to heat up again that liner can go in the microwave and warm up so you can put it right back in the cooker for a one time reheat. I wouldn’t reheat more than once. ❤
Tostitos are so good because they’re thin. I make this a lot. Always enjoy it.

But..I add an 8oz block of cream cheese.
Now...I also make a version with shredded boneless skinless chicken thighs.
I make it for beach trips and snacks on Christmas and Thanksgiving or football games.
Give it a shot sometime. I think you'll luv it. Oh..I add some homemade salsa to the batch that's my queso chicken dip. It just makes EVERYONE HAPPY ❤

I would suggest using unsalted butter because Velveeta is very salty. I do appreciate this recipe, for I would love to make some.

I must live under a rock because I have never seen the Velveeta Queso Blanco cheese. All I have seen is the yellow cheese. I guess you could use it and the dip would be yellow.

You can sub the Velveeta Queso Blanco with white American cheese and mozzarella cheese - use 1 1/2 pounds white American and 1/2 pound mozzarella. This works really well. I couldn't find the Velveeta and I thought this combo was delicious. I've also made this before with the yellow Velveeta and it's very good too; just yellow.
