  • For over 50 years fans have been struggling to answer the question: What is Season 6B?
    The Second Doctor's Regeneration remains one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in the Doctor Who canon. The War Games, Five Doctors and Two Doctors all leave many unanswered questions that I will attempt in this video to put to bed.

    I personally love Season 6B, as it suggest the 2nd Doctor got to spend more time with Jamie, who was one of the best companions and they were great together. There are Big Finish audio stories that support the Season 6B theory as well.

    Damn I take back what I said in the video on the fugitive doctor. She'd fit perfectly into the gap here. Maybe her lack of knowledge on the sonic screwdriver is due to it being something she forgot. Like if you didn't have it for a whole life maybe you wouldn't fully know what it is like how the regeneration isn't perfect & how the 6th doctor didn't know who peri was so maybe its a by product of her using the chameleon arc. That way we can explain the oddities. It also neatly fits her in & also explains well everything. Maybe after she went on the run she got caught & as punishment had her memories erased of that incarnation & was left with a sonic device & that's why the third doctor has such a hard time remembering who he is compared to his previous regeneration.

  • @Jazzdumpling
    @Jazzdumpling Před 9 měsíci +19

    Ok, this is what happened:
    The 2nd Doctor was enlisted by the Time Lords and sent on secret missions at the end of The War Games.
    The 5th Doctor meets 3 of his previous incarnations during the events of The Five Doctors BUT notices that his memories of the 2nd Doctor’s experience of this adventure do NOT catch up with him after it is over. He becomes suspicious.
    As the 6th Doctor, he finally catches up with himself as the 2nd Doctor in The Two Doctors, and realises that the Time Lords have used him as their agent and erased his memories of all of it.
    The 6th Doctor accuses The Time Lords of this and they put him on trial. (The Trial of a Time Lord).
    After this, the Time Lords erase the 6th Doctor’s memories and force the 2nd Doctor to regenerate into the Ruth Doctor (and possibly others), so that if the current Doctor ever crosses paths with 6B Doctor again, they won’t recognise themselves.
    As The Doctor’s power and experience grow, so does the Time Lords’ fear of being discovered.
    They fabricate a story to throw the Doctor off the scent, one that will explain the existence of other incarnations while also making the Doctor doubt everything about who they are. They call this lie ‘The Timeless Child’.
    This ploy seems to work; however, while The Doctor might now question their memories of events, the Tardis does not.
    Eventually the Tardis’ memory banks inform the Doctor of the truth: they have been used as a pawn of the Time Lords for a very long time.
    Now all that remains is for The Doctor to have their revenge.
    You’re welcome.

      My only hang up with this is that 13 directly makes note that the Ruth Doctor doesn't recognise the Sonic Screwdriver with the Ruth Doctor asking 13 what she's doing with "that thing" and when 13 points out that she doesn't know what it is the Ruth Doctor cheekily retorts with "Smart enough not to need" which that kind of snarky arrogance seems for more akin to the personality of 1 during his first season and not how the Doctor acts in The War Games

    • @hotdog1214
      @hotdog1214 Před 9 měsíci +5

      @@IcySlavKat I guess that depends on how you interpret Fugitive Doctor's reaction to the screwdriver. 13 asserts that she doesn't recognise it yes, but Fugitive Doctor says she's smart enough not to need one. One could ask, how would she know that she doesn't need one if she doesn't know what it is? OR, that perhaps she doesn't recognise it in that form. If for example Alexander Graham Bell was shown a smartphone would he recognise it as the evolution of his version of the telephone or would it be alien to him? Or its neither of these and Fugitive was just being derisory of 13s overreliance on it. She never actually admits or denies that she recognises it or not.
      I think the dialogue is vague enough for some wiggle room, especially when it comes to head canon.

      the premise of the episode itself is that the second doctor and jamie are on a mission for the time lords. 6B doesn't work for me. Multi Doctor stories have always been a "yank out of time and forget" affair for Doctors and companions. As to Jamie and Zoe's projections remembering the War Games when they shouldn't, they're illusions designed to trick him. As to the comics and annuals, well how far do you take it?
    My general thinking is that the extended stuff can be part of it for you if you want but it didn't definitely happen. The show did reference off-screen shenanigens from time to time and I think that leads to the assumption that the TARDIS mob sometimes stopped off between the televised stories. But I'm not going to presume an entire untold period of Troughton based solely on something written by Dicks decades later that wasn't presented onscreen. And "running missions for the Time Lords" is an obvious assumption for the Doctor to make whenever he's taken out of his timeline and particularly when he meets another version of himself. They're the only ones who could do it.

    • @dwfan91-
      @dwfan91-  Před 10 měsíci +1

      the question wasn't how the projections remembered it, but how the Second Doctor did. If he was taken out of time, he should've been taken from a point BEFORE his final story, not after. I feel to ignore all the very blatant hints both onscreen and off that there was at least SOME brief period of time between seasons 6 and 7 is maybe a step too far, even if you don't want to consider books as canon.
