Same, I think that handling was quite slippery haha cause I drift then hit a wall and then will spin out. Yeah this is hard (maybe) to finish the race except if race in city would be easy

Not gonna lie, Tokyo Drift is my favourite film from Fast and Furious series.
I mean, it's kinda the last of it's kind. Like after this, it went into action movie bullshit, but with cars.

@@possibly_ben There's Initial D Special Stage (Arcade Stage 2 port for the PS2), Street Stage (Arcade Stage 3 port for the PSP), and Extreme Stage (Arcade Stage 4 port for the PS3). He could just emulate the arcade versions, but only if he has a sim racing wheel to go with cuz using controller is shite tbh.
Currently playing these games, it's so fun. Even if Extreme Stage has shitty physics, I got quite alot of laughs when playing the game soooooo yeahhhhh
Edit: Forgot to mention the Wangan Midnight games. There's an arcade version, and PS2 and PSP versions (they're all different, but both are fun in their own way)

This game fed me some legit JDM parts and laugh as hard when I back track my cars on NFSU2..
I mean, when the final boss of the Highway Speed races is Smokey Nagata, it's not surprising they had some premo brands in.
It's a cross of Initial D and Wangan Midnight. You got the Red Suns, the Speed Stars, and instead of racing up and down Mount Akina, you put as much horsepower into your car until it explodes

Remembered when I was 12 I mastered the drifting with a stock chevelle of all things.
Also weight reduction in this game is mostly a bad idea since it makes it easier for the tires to spin under high power. Did this with the saleen mustang ang fc rx7, and they gripped better in corners
The Chevelle is actually the best drift car in this game & the drift physics were unreal! You actually had to put effort into mastering the skill, techniques & modify your car the right way to even win.
The driving aids are turned on by default, you need to go on options and disable them manually. That makes for a different and in my opinion more manageable drifting feel

I love the livery editor (despite it's clear limitations for PS2) for this. I just wish Namco didn't get so greedy with taking up so many spots I JUST WANT DISCOUNTS NAMCO, I DON'T WANT ZASALAMA THAT SPESIFICALLY.
Same, I playing the game since 2012 (maybe) and found the livery editor. For first time I think that is hard to apply this livery, but if I recently play the game may be easy to apply livery

I grew up with this game, it was ahead (and still is in terms of customization) of its age. In the PAL version of the game you start the intro race with a Supra mk4 instead the nsx.

Underappreciated game, absolutely lovely selection of cars, awesome customization with actual beloved, real aftermarket brands and parts from the likes of Fujita Engineering, C-West, Spoon Sports, Top Secret, VeilSide, to name a few. Interesting map and gameplay modes, I like how it merges both highway racing and touge racing into one thing, with a pretty funky sountrack to go along with it.
Physics on this game and handling is not too bad once you get used to it and don't keep trying to wallride or "crash" your way into turns. This game really punishes you for crashing and I honestly kind of liked how it was gutsy to do that, means this is a game that actively pushes you to "git gud" instead of just letting you get away with bad driving. Though I do have to say the "magnetic" walls are kind of bullshit.

Something about this game's structure reminds me of Tokyo Xtreme Racer. The way you challenge others in the touge is basically straight out of TXR Kaido/Drift series. And now that makes me think that Kuru should try some TXR games. Zero, 3, Drift 2 and ITC could be pretty fun even if beating Drift 2 takes forever. Also TXR 2 can be a fun jank as all hell experience if you're willing to put up with its questionable coding and design decisions.
As a fan of TXR games, this 100% takes inspiration from them (kinda shitty driving physics included sadly). You have to clear the first Area on the Bayline where you can either go north to partake in more Highway battles, or head south for the Togue drift events. It's kinda neat it combines the two, there's clearly been a lot more cash splashed then usually found in Genki games (which makes sense that NAMCO with some help from F&F funded this).
Honestly if they remade this then whatever the hell Crossroads was, multi-platnium (Asuming they focused on fixing the effects and driving physics but that's really all the game needs).

I feel like Kuru has THE.BEST.PLAYLIST.EVER! Can't catch much of the streams, but damn, the music choice is amazing!

I remember having this on my psp back when the psp was still new. Man it was my most favorite at the time. I loved the customization of this game. It was pretty cool.
this game is actually pretty fun ya'll, i played this shit so much when i had my PS2.
Fun fact : when you sell your car, you get your money back 100% (all the mods + car price), so you could just sell your car and buy another without money loss (unlike other games where your car + mods is like half the price lmao)
Or you just go spank top secret guys a couple of time to have all the dosh. It's honestly kinda nice cash is meaningless late game.

Physics were hard to master in this game but the car selections and aftermarket parts from this game is brilliant. Just the best tie in game from the movie.
Side note: The last touge where you're going to face DK and Morimoto was shit with this physics tbh, better go against him with a stock car because it took me around 10 times or more the first time when I'm trying to beat them with a heavily tuned RX7 FD3S because of too much power was inside it.
I cheesed Morimoto by doing a doughnut on the second last turn before the finish (so long as you start a drift, the game doesn't care if you wind up doing a doughnut). DK honestly comes as kind of a pushover VS Mori.
I still have a blast playing this game!

Not gonna lie the handling in this game is weird to say the least, you have to set up cars for grip and drift separately and on top of that the physics of the different modes are also different, if set up correctly (took a lot of trial and error) cars are super grippy or super drifty and actually feel good to drive. Nice game though had a blast playing it on my ps2 back in the day.
the S15 has crazy drift angle once you get used to the drift handling.
though for narrow and complex stages the drift angle kinda become a disadvantage.
Yay, glad he got to play this. Think I recommended this last Marathon at the tail end of the uploads. My next suggestion would be Test Drive: Eve of Destruction/Driven to Destruction (the euro name). Basically the opposite of this, the physics are fantastic, the customization is piss poor, it takes place in America with a weird amount of Foreign cars. Both have bop after bop on the soundtrack though. Would be good to see next go.

I remember finding this game in the gamestop discount bin on ps2 played it alot as a kid the cars and customization was really good for the time
Funny enough, I first rented this game at least twice (I loved it). But eventually it got out of rotation and I couldn't find a copy (not that I looked super hard). Years later I lucked upon it in a Retro Used game store and knew I needed it. When I got it home, I had apparently gotten the same copy that use to be rented (They would put a sticker around the center with some return info and what not on the DVDs and games)

Well I played this game since 2012 (maybe) in my PS2. For first time play the game, I think that is quite hard to play cause I need learn for drift and livery too, but if I recently play the game would be easy except the experience of drifiting, because if I just hit the wall and then will go spin out, so I need learn again to get maximum score to finish haha

The 3rd or 4rth I believe was a Drifting game...then came this.
They actually control pretty well once you get used to the physics...but that can take forever to happen...lol

I recently realized this game has Driving Assist on by default, hidden in the settings. Turned it off, WAYYYYY better handling.

I had like a hundred or so cars (all of them maxed out and awfully customized). I remember having like 3 supras/Z33s/RX7s for every bodykit they had in shops. It was more about customizing than racing. I realized all the Initial D/Wangan Midnight references about a decade later.
