Chigee AIO 5 Lite / Is This The Ultimate All-In-One Motorcycle Media System?

- So.......I've used Apple Car Play in my car for a few years and it beats the standard factory Twat Nav 'Hands Down'!!!! Now we have it available on our motorbike and it's wireless too!!!! Not only that, this Chigee AIO-5 Lite has front and rear dash cams which doubles up as a Blind Spot Detection System. So......my question is.....Is This The Ultimate All-In-One Motorcycle Media System?
Well if you think so, and you want it. Look no further as we're an official stockist. Link below to the Chigee Products.

Been looking at this ( and the other ) a lot as it does seem to be the way to go. I currently have a Garmin XT and use My Route App to create routes and then send the GPX file to the XT. Might wait for the non camera version before possibly pulling the trigger. Thanks for the vlog... very informative.
I have recently reviewed Carpuride, Ottocast, CarABC, Atoto and the new Chigee AIO 5 Play which is the new model being released is what they sent me. The Chigee is far superior, interface is smoother, no lagging, no freezing. The packaging says it all, the other brands are coming in boxes without the company name on suggesting they are from the same factory. The Chigee is amazing, faultless and you can feel the difference in its high quality. Love it.
Nicely said!
@@ABIKETHING it truly is the premium brand, tried the others which work to a degree but I want quality, reliability and a company that believes in their brand, the others are just mass product for the market. You deal only in premium quality products as your company is premium, you go hand in hand 👍🏻
What about the Innovv N1…..
@@fransvankogelenberg not been sent one for review so can’t comment sorry.
@@Motourev Understand. It is not available yet. It will ship in May. I really like the K3 camera. The Innovv N1 comes with the same type of camera's as the K3. I expect that to be a premium product too. I like the Chigoe but all the reviews mention the flakey quality of the cams. And I did built in the K3 on my GS the best way ever (rear reflector) so I would like to keep it that way. Before upgrading from my Carpuride I am going to wait for a comparison between the Aio and the N1.
Just got the new CHIGEE Play in today with their first pre-order batch. Very nice unit so far and better quality compared to the Carpuride 7" that I tried out that was to large for my mounting location. I was just going to get the 5" Carpuride but then saw the Chigee Play and decided to give it a shot.
Since it might help someone else I used Chigee's "BMW Loseless (MFP0059)" to mount the Chigee to my Rottweiler Performance GPS mount on my 22+ KTM Super Adventure. This mount uses an AMPs style pattern and it worked fine other than the bolts being to long.
One thing to note. I doubt it would work with the screw in AMPS style mounts. I was looking at my Perunmoto mount on my other bike and doubt it would work for that unless I drilled out the holes.
Good show buddy I’ve just sent my nav6 back an they have sent me a new saying they now have sorted the ghosting issue an have promised it won’t happen I love the nav6 so easy to sort a reroute out there have been some issues with that chigee unit already with it freezing o no 😮
Too bad I didn’t know about this unit before spending nearly $800 for my Garmin XT2 last Spring. What an awesome package!
I installed my Chigee AIO5 lite yesterday and instantly very impressed.
I did consider the alternatives like the Carpuride but the price difference delivers BIG quality difference. Like comparing an iPhone to a $189 phone from the high-street.
The whizz wheel connected instantly, although I’m looking forward to a bit more functionality with this in future upgrades.
The cameras don’t appear as nicely made as my K3, but the image quality is just as good.
Chigee are also very active on the socials and very quick to answer questions.
Is it easy to install ??
Had mine and been using it for 7k miles. It's fantastic and nothing comes close in terms of use, quality and connectivity.
You need to open a workshop in Gibraltar mate, its a nightmare here to get anyone who knows to install anything onto my bike. something to consider however again non professionals to get them to install it :( , riding all the way to the uk and get something done to the bike will cost a fortune plus time i don't have, another great video and thanks for the explanation and review
I installed the positive/negative to the battery and the ACC to the positive wire on the BMW NavPrep plug. You mentioned installation using the OEM plug. How do you do that? Red to red black to black and the ACC to the third wire if the OEM plug?
Thanks! A few questions:
- How does this cope off-road -- with vibrations/dust etc?
- What about heat? Had some issues in the past with phones/GPS shutting down or going nuts in hot weather.
- Can it be used in portrait mode?
Cracking kit, cameras and radar are worth it alone, good alternative to the BMW connected ride at +£200. Mounting to my RS 1250 may be challenging tho''
Did you install the valve stem TPMS? I had tried a similar set up on my car a couple years ago and the added weight to the valve stem caused air leaks through the stem/rim connection. On ALL wheels, the only explanation i had was centrifugal force pulling on the stem base. Took the valve stem sensors off and added the regular plastic caps - problem gone. I would never install these aftermarket solutions again.
I wish there was a quick way to mount and unmount the unit from the bike when it's parked. On my GSA the Zumo XT is held in place in the Touratech lockable cradle. I would be paranoid leaving it on my bike when I'm away from it.
It really is a game changer. Using it for 3 weeks now. Carplay feels so intuitive. I think BMW need to spend some R&D time to develop a unit that contains carplay or even put it in the tft screens (like most modern cars). No offence; but who actually uses aftermarket navigation systems like garmin or so? Everything is in your phone already and google maps is very up to date when it comes to traffic jams/road blocks. Oh; and the blind spot alert works actually VERY well. Outstanding product…
How does it compare to the Carpe Iter that you took off road?
Is there any conflict on the wonderwheel considering that i have got denali cansmart connected with fog lights to the wheel?
I've just installed and built a custom mount for this on my BMW K1300s if anyone's interested. The units a game changer!
Please get in touch with me as I had a customer is only last week on a K1300 and the yoke hole is too small for the stem mount we do so please email me steve@abikething.com and subject it K1300s Chigee.
Really enjoyed the video, The only thing I still cant find any information on is the the Chigee says it will only connects to ONE headset, so does that mean that your passenger misses out on the music? That seems like big miss to me when a lot of use travel TWO up, so both headset need to be connect.
I think the music comes from your phone still? The Chigee just acts a controller. So your phone is connected to both this unit and your helmet/communicator.
I've been really impressed with the Chigee AIO-5 Lite too (have just done a written review at the moment). Glad you're a UK distributor! Anyway, worth mentioning that sadly, for now at least, Calimoto is only compatible with Apple Car Play, not Android Auto. Hopefully they'll sort that soon! Cheers, John
Not really. Mine works flawlessly with Android Auto.
@@mauriziozanni4161What system are you using exactly as it'd be great to tell Calimoto, where the devs say it's not going to happen this season.
@@bennettsbikesocial My bad, I did not notice you were specifically referring to Calimoto, an app I do not use. My apologies.
Just got a 1250 RT 2022 and already finding the wireless charging and connected app painful. The media defaults to Apple Music not sure how to get to Spotify. Does this have a mount to go above my TFT like yours
Hi Steve, great video, how much to fit the chigee to gsa1250 , does it work with BMW Connected app? thank you
Yes it does. I’m sure I mention that in the video. We charge £199 to install this on its own or £80 if it’s in addition to a light and ezcan bundle at the same time.
Needs..
7 inch screen
To be removable
To fit Garmin xt mount , now that would boost sales
Somewhere to go and see one, it's a lot of money for a leap of faith
Warranty??? Where to send it for warranty
Support?? More faith
I’m the retailer. Buy from my company and we facilitate the warranty.
Well that's great, but I'm in Australia (should have mentioned that )so a warranty return is at least $100 out of my pocket, there and back.
The unit with tpms and remote posted to Australia is roughly $1100 including international currency exchange fees etc, I can buy 2 Garmin xt units here for that on special.
But I still can't have a look at it, my riding group is about 120 old guys , no one is prepared to buy one unless they can have a look and play with it
Not your fault obviously, you have a great channel and if I lived in the UK I'd grab one off you.
Chigee needs more retail outlets like you
@@horatio8764 maybe contact me steve@abikething.com and let’s see what we can do. Maybe a group discount if you can gather enough takers in your group. In terms of warranty, I choose products and brands where we really don’t get issues.
Do you have a holder in your offer that will fit the bar for a BMW S1000r ?
Can this system be fitted to a BMW 1250 RT 2019 using the BMW connections used by Garmin 5 or 6 navigation unit. I do not require the TPMS or BSM just the basic unit and hopefully using the wonder wheel. Is this possible or do I have to purchase the complete system?. Look forward to your reply. Professional video as usual , Thank you.
Hi, I picked up my 1250RT in March and already I find the connected app a pain and as I can't get my iPhone in the charging port (its too big) I burn through the battery. I want a bracket to sit the chigoe above the 7.5 TFT
It’s the remote you need so the wonderwheel works.
Had mine for 3 weeks now, just works its that simple its brillent, phone connects to it and my cardo edge to the phone and start spotify straight of and the last nav software I was using with voice commands just controls everything. On navigation and more important route planning Tomtom navigator GO is excellent as I have been planning routes using the web interface with tomtom and the sync with my phone works everytime so can design detailed multi day routes and have them in navigator go straight away, I switch to waze if I just need a map up as the mobile speed camera vans are displayed there. I seem to be in the minority of Android users and it works perfect on my Pixel Pro 7. I wouldn't bother buying the remote, I did and just use voice control or the screen.
do you have the phone or cardo still connected to the bike?
@@LucianCioranu No, connecting to the bike with either the Cardo or phone doesn't add any benefit for me as there is no voice control to the bike for answering calls and controlling media like the Cardo can do directly to the phone via `Okay google` and `Hey Cardo`, I figured it would just confuse the linking and which unit would take control. The only benefit in having the phone connected is the SOS system built into the 1300GS uses the phone.
@@Dusta yes, but it is easy to answer calls from the bike by using the handlebar wheel. Media control is also easy to use, but I do miss the voice commands, or I should say command because the only one I miss is "Siri". The bigger issue when connecting to the bike is creating mesh groups, connecting to other Bluetooths, etc, which is difficult to accomplish without the app.
Couple questions
1. Are you going to film full installation video for us that can't make to you from overseas? 😁
2. 3 pin connector is only for power? How it get connected to the device?
It doesn't pick up gps signal from the bike? We will have to use Chigee gps and put it somewhere?
3. When connecting cameras and using 3 pin connector in that case im assuming you don't go to the battery using + and - ?
Thank you looking forward to get one
Already got an INNOVV camera system from you. So yes if they bought out a CarPlay only unit I would probably go for it.
They are bringing out the N1 from Innovv. I contacted Innovv. You can not connect the K3 cam’s to it. So you will have to use the new cams that come with the N1.
Play unit available for pre order direct from chigee with 33% discount. Thats £235 delivered to uk.
I would jump at the play u it if it could be mounted on the GSA cradle, is this possible or has anyone out there designed a 3D bracket?????
On their website they say they will bring out a detachable version mid this year. With a own bracket.
You also do Carpe Iter. Would you recommend this over and above the dedicated tablet?
They’re different animals. I’m videoing content for the Ci pad atm. The CI is great but for different reasons. What the CI doesn’t have is screen mirroring so you cant do apple car play. It’s basically one big phone which is even more dedicated than the Chigee but it’s for the real adventurer who doesn’t mind their tech owning them as opposed to us owning our tech.
Great review! Where / how can you fit this to a K1600gl, 2022 MU please?
Yes. If it’s the large TFT that you have you need the Stem mount. If you have the 1600 with 5” nav6 then we have a mount to replace this .
On a R1250 GS, if we install the 4 Pin can adapter to enable the BMW wonder wheel for the AIO 5, Can we still use the BMW wonder wheel as well for the BMW TFT? Thanks
Can you get one of these adapters for a surron?
For using the BMW wonder wheel (on an R1250RS), how do I hook that up if I already have a Hex EZcan? Also, once installed, how do I switch between controlling the TFT and the Chigee?
If you have your tft on the main screen it will work with the Chigee. If you have the tft in one of the menu’s it will control both screens…..
I'm really liking the idea of the newly announced Chigee AIO 5 Play (currently cheaper direct with their launch offer 😉) though the security aspect of fitment does bother me slightly. Will you have the Play version at the ABR Festival for closer inspection? Also my prefered power option would be USB however the socket lies under my seat; I spotted an 0.8 mtr USB extension lead on the Chigee website as an accessory however it now seems to have disappeared? Any news on a longer USB option? TIA
We’ll be stocking the Play and should have it at ABR too. uSB port…..bring a port closer to the device using one of our healtech PDMs with USB
@@ABIKETHING Thanks! Will definitely pop along for a look at the ABR.
I have installed k7 cameras on my bike , can I still use chigge instead of my Garmin .
Steve you mentioned using the tpm plug. What if you have a EzCan fitted using that plug?
Just daisy chain it in.
I'm guessing it won't mount the a Garmin Amps pattern.
Great product review as always! It surely looks like a very good device. Regarding Carpuride, they just released the W603, another bike-focused device, with front/rear dashcams. I won't go into the price/quality discussion, I guess you get what you pay for. I do have a request though, please review your shipping-to-Portugal fees. I'd say it's keeping a lot of bikers away from your brilliant products. Thanks!
Thank for your comments. I’m hassling DHL every day for better rates. I won’t use anyone else as they are the best and it’s almost trouble free which makes it worth it when the goods are expensive. It’s just not worth the hassle using cheap couriers. FYI our shipping prices are ported across to our website so you’re seeing live up to dates prices based on product selections (weight and dims are programmed in to each product) and location so you’re seeing the prices we get from DHL
@@ABIKETHING thanks for your notes. A rate improvement would be much appreciated. In the meantime, some goodies for my KTM will be on its way from your store soon :)
I like the sound of the system without the cameras. Hope that one can work with the wonder wheel.
I’m sure it will. They’re arriving with me in about 10 days time.
@@ABIKETHING I’ll keep my eye out for it. Will there be a bundle for the gen 2 S1000XR
I have the Carpuride. It is very good for it’s price. But considering a move to the Chigee or the Innovv N1. Both are premium I think. I will wait until the N1 is released. I do like the build quality of the Innovv Cams way over the plastic Chigee ones. Not sure what to do yet……
N1 will be with us very soon too. Along with Chigee AIO 5 Play
I am concerned with losing my cell signal with a device like this while riding on a trip. My old Garmin GPS uses satellites and I have yet to lose a signal. Is this something to be worried about?
dos it fit inside the k1600 2014 gps mount ??
Hi Steve, can the remote still be used if you have the ezcan plugged into the alarm plug.
Yes, you just daisy chain it in so both are on the same network
Ok, cheers Steve
If I purchase it through you and get the 3 pin adaptor you sell. Which of the 3 yellow wires spliced into the Chigee yellow wire ? Also if I'm using a Denali CanSmart with the switched power adaptor would be easier if I sliced into the Chigee yellow wire with that instead ?
I’m trying to get Tom to reply to this question as he’s done all the installations so far. I know the answer but want him to confirm. He said he’s replied on here but damned if I can see it
@@ABIKETHING did you manage to find out from Tom as I'd like to purchase everything I need. Cheers
Shame I just fitted a Innovv k7 . Cameras are excellent but I do like the idea of apple car play . Something for the future.
If using the remote can plug so the wonder wheel can be used, does this prevent the WW from operating the TFT ?
No. U can still toggle between tft and nav
Brilliant thanks for the reply. 😊
Nice bit of kit but a bit to expensive though plenty of alternatives for other bikes.
When I'm say up Scotland and lose all phone connection. Will I be stuffed?
Can you connect this unit straight to your ex easy can to power the unit instead of connecting to your battery and a switched live
Yes but I still recommend you connect to battery for the main terminals and then take your switched live from either ezcan or bmw switched live
The primary purpose of a second display for 99% of bikers is standalone navigation. So they don't have to mess around with their phone or drain / overheat the phone by using Bluetooth and gps. Does this do it ?
What will integrate on the v4s multistrada ?
It will work in the MS but you’d need to have the universal remote
I’m not interested in cameras, or TPMS, so the options of a “bare” system is intriguing.
Should be shouting about that in about 2 weeks time
Question, will it pair and work with cardo system ?
Your phone connects to your cardo. The chigee mirrors your phone for the display.
@@ABIKETHING great thanks would you know if the whizz wheel will control music volume ?
Won't the inovv N1 be a better alternative?
Better? Or just an alternative? We’re going to be stocking them soon so we’ll be offering both.
Looking at this unit on various reviews it appears to be little more than a fancy dash cam that connects to and mirrors your phone, without the connection to a phone it's pretty much useless for navigation. For now I'll stick with my Nav6, it's the very latest with the new type screen but that has now come with a new set of problems to the previous Nav6's ghosting.
Spot on. You need a phone so it’s effective but you have limitless navigation apps opposed to being stuck with 1
Can you connect this two a bmw m1000r
Yes
Can you get the Chigee without the cameras ?
Yes it’s called the AIO-5 Play. We are stocking that too
I like the idea, but I expect it to be a nightmare of connecting everything to everything. So, I have this, phone, bike, and helmet communication. Even now it 's complicated to link the phone, Cardo and bike. having another device that needs to communicate with everything.... My problem is that I really like how media and phone can be controlled from the bike dash
A bike thing, I really think you’re missing the point on why a mount to connect to the existing BMW nav cradle is so important. Your phones navigation system doesn’t work everywhere. I’ve been in places where mobile phone service isn’t available for hundreds of miles. The only system that would work is the nav system. For everyday riding the chigee is superior. But I will always bring my nav system with me when I’m in an area without coverage. Making a plug and play mount would be ideal and extremely easy to make.
you know you can download offline maps right? even on google maps. garmin and tomtom devices are so outdated it's not even funny at this point.
It seems that Chigee is top quality of hardware and software..
Personally I think it is a little bit overpriced for something that very very soon we will see on most of the motorbikes specially from high end brands...
The other thing is, why there is no option to buy just what you wish/need...
Chigee should give the option to buy the "base model" and then add options like cam's, remote, brackets.. etc etc..
I was keen to by the Chigee and the reason I didn't was that I didn't want to pay more than 500 for things I don't have any interest in...
I believe that ppl that have interest for example in dashcam already have Innovv on their bikes
I understand Chigee is coming out with the Chigee “Play”. This version will not have the cameras and the GPS will be incorporated within the product and not a separate component
Correct, plus usb power too. Coming to our store in about a weeks time.
I also understand the AOI-Play will be easily removable since it will use USB as its power source.
How soon will you be able to discuss/review and sell the Play?
There’s also a Play BMW version coming in August. Clicks straight into existing BMW cradle and works with the wonder wheel. That’s the one for me as I’d rather not remove anything from the bike. 🤗
I’m assuming BMW don’t use Apple car play because they wouldn’t sell sat nav’s
The fact that there is no mechanisim to remove the display from the bike (short of unscrwing it from the bracket) is a deal breaker.
There is that but same goes for the TFT on a lot of bikes these days. How much can be taken off the bike to keep it safe? Where does it end. We do have another nav system we’re making content on at the moment. Carpe iter.
Hi Steve… where’s the comparison between the 3 exhausts for the 1300 GS ? I can´t sleep. Please hurry. Don’t take a month to post the video, please. ✌️
When I make and edit videos I’m slacking in customer service. Something has to give but I’m doing my best. We have lots of content already but we’ve just discovered a new gadget that makes a difference to the exhaust too . Checkout the brand healtech on our website and you’ll see it.
Nice product, bit expensive but i suppose you get what you pay for.
Don’t forget 2 year warranty and support from us here in UK
I wouldn’t even entertain this if it wasn’t for the premium quality of the product
Agree about quality of chigee I have had 2 other Chinese CarPlay units. Chigee quality shines shame that it is a bit too expensive now it Transferable TPMS BSD cameras makes it better value for money just waiting for a ram mount
Next pay day ill be buying from a bike thing, costomer service A1
Nice thing, but nowadays?...
I'll stick with my own solution, rugged android phone does FOR ME the same job for about 1/2 of the price. With bigger screen and more versatility. And it's standalone, doesn't need to be paired with my iPhone...
Another system that needs a phone. I like to keep my phone separate from my nav system.
I understand. We have another system which may suit you that is standalone. You can either pop a sim in there so it has data or hotspot it to your phone. Or use offline maps. A bit more thought behind it and intended for the really serious adventure rider. On the website listed under Carpe Iter.
@@ABIKETHING thanks for the reply. I had the first one and still have it. It worked very well. Until it stoped working in a down poor. But only when I tried to make a call! Worked fine after I dried it out.
It is a good bit of kit, I believe it is , the way forward. I now have the new BMMW navigator, I’m very happy with it.
Cheers.👍🏻
Camera needs to go, some may say it’s evidence 😊
Why buy this when you can just use your phone? You need to have your phone on charge anyway.
5''screen... isn't that a bit back in the day? 6-7'' screen should be a minimum these days is my opinion, otherwise it looks ok
Hmm, on a daily bike I think 5” is spot on. Depends what bike it is too. I wouldn’t want bigger on my bikes unless it was more ruggedised otherwise it’s screaming “I’m an iPad on a bike”
Screen is too small. 7 in would be a killer.
Seriously depends what bike it’s going on. 7” would be good but I’d need it to be removable and in a ruggedised tablet form. I certainly wouldn’t want 7” on my sports bikes.
I just bought a Carpuride for my bike. Utter rubbish, wouldn’t stay connected and went haywire when you tried to enter a route. Worse still they would not honour the 30 day return, threatened me with customs fees to return it, also said ‘it might get lost’. Nasty rip off company. Avoid!
Carpuride is buggy and customer service close to non existent.
