    High praise for the Chigee indeed! Carplay and wizz wheel control looks great. In fact far more impressive the BMW ConnectedRide Navigator. I'm curious to see how different navigation apps look on screen. I'm currently running a Nav6 on a GS and create routes with MyRouteApp, but using MyRouteApp for both routing and nav with Chigee display could simplify the technical tangle?

    Built in TFT go out of date, either completely or companies like good old BMW charge a fortune to upgrade software/firmware. Makes the price of this device more realistic and prices will come down. And it would be good if OEMs quit the TFTs, concentrated on the bike and charged lower prices.

    It looks like you can use the wonderwheel to move around within apps, e.g. play/pause/select playlist in Spotify. How do you then get back to the main Apple CarPlay screen, using the wheel only and not touching the screen, for example to then go back to your navigation app of choice?
    I’m so close to buying one of these but need to make sure I can flick between Scenic and Spotify and choose menu options in both apps without touching the screen.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  Před 4 měsíci +3

      With the whizz wheel to move from screen to screen, I.e you press to the left and hold for a couple of seconds to move from CarPlay to the main menu. If you are in a screen such as apple carplay you press the which wheel right or left briefly and it moves from icon to icon and then you press in the indicator button (as if to cancel an indicator) to select a different icon etc. doesn’t effect your indicator or if you are indicating and selecting I think the indicator takes presidence
      hope this helps

    • @DaeSimpson
      @DaeSimpson Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@RiderCamTV thanks. It was the one thing that none of the reviews covered. I’ve seen other devices with a remote instead of the wheel control, but they’re all limited to answer/hang up on calls or pause/resume music.
      I like the idea of being able to use the wheel to do things in Scenic like skip waypoint, which is something I can currently do using a combination of Scenic/WunderLINQ and an old iPhone mounted as a nav device on a Quadlock wireless charging mount. The drawback of that setup is the screen in the sun. It’s not too bad as I did 2,000 miles in Spanish sun in two weeks, but I think the Chigee screen would be better.

Whereas my £100 VSYSTO setup has been perfect over the last 3 years. TPMS I have a £25 solar powered unit from Ali. So I've got all I 'need' for £130. I'm a bit suss after reading their shipping notes on their website about import duty taxes and what they do to mitigate them, I.e. lie about the actual cost of the items sent on the custom forms... Just a word of warning to those looking to buy the Chigee AIO-5. While it has a touchscreen it doesn't respond to gloves. I tried it with 3 different pairs of gloves. None of them work with the unit.
    REALLY disappointing.
    You can operate the unit via the buttons across the top but given their spacing and size that too is difficult to do when riding.
    Other than that, the unit seems to be OK. Took me about an hour to fit to my V-Strom 1050XT.

      I was wondering if the screen isn't sensitive enough compared to the Zumo. There aren't any settings that I can find, but then I haven't fully explored the AIO's capabilities. And I'll try an update.

      @@RiderCamTV well the system doesnt really do anything on its own. Almost all features are activated by a smartphone. That makes this pretty much an OS-less tablet. It doesnt even have integrated maps, so if my phone dies, my navigation dies with it. So to pay €700 bucks for a basic front/back camera system that wont do anything else on its own without the brains and lungs from a phone is just crazy expensive. A Garmin Zumo XT2 costs 100 bucks less than that and will take you around the world including off-road maps without any smartphone connected to it. Plus it will connect with other XT2 users so that if anything happens you can always find each other. Now thats value. €700 bucks for an android auto/carplay is crazy...for the same money i buy a couple of good smartphones as backups that will have a ton more features and integrated maps into them...
