  • UPDATE:
Folks it was pointed out by viewers, in the video I had connected the positive and negative to my
power distribution module under the seat. As this is powered only when the ignition is turned on ,there is NO PERMANENT connection of the +/- wires to the battery, then the SENTRY guard mode in the unit will not function . Correct. Should have pointed that out, just worried about battery drain...however, I have now connected the +/- to the bikes battery terminals, thereby activating the Parking/Sentry Mode, which I will test when I attempt to steal the bike 😁. I will also monitor if there are any battery issues and post. I very much doubt there will be though.

@@gsd32i I really keen to see what you think of the blind spot monitoring, on other videos it shows an alert when overtaking other vehicles on the left on a motorway, I am wondering whether they have updated the software to recognise that the unit is overtaking something and doesn't need to give an alert like the Innovv system. I have a 7 inch CarPlay screen on my Tenere WR and would not go back, but I really fancy the Chigoe system for my Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx, especially the cameras and blind spot system.

    Great detailed vid again👍🏻
Looks a very good product. One question, forgive me if I’ve missed it.
You said it’s got a parking sentry mode. You’ve connected both the switched live and positive wire to your power distribution box which I’m assuming only actives when you turn the bike on. Will the parking sentry mode still work? Surely you’ll have no power if the ignition is switched off or does the unit have an onboard battery?
    Hope this makes sense.

    • @gsd32i
      @gsd32i  Před měsícem +1

No you didn’t miss it . You are correct . If you want sentry mode then yes the +/- must go to the battery and then the yellow wire goes to a switched live. .i am not a fan of something being part live but that’s just me, stupidly worried about battery drain . For part 2, I will connect to the battery and shake the bike to demo the sentry mode . Yup me being concerned clearly about a non issue !! 🙈😁 Ride safe

Looks very interesting especially the jog wheel connectivity. I am however concerned that the responsiveness seems from your excellent vid a bit on the slow side, at least for me. That would be a problem for me as the last thing I want is to be waiting for the unit to be playing catchup and therefore distracting me from my riding. Would be. Good to see some on the bike riding vids to see how you get on. Nice looking bit of kit, wish it was a 6” though as 5”is a little bit small but hopefully it’s the beginning of a great new product line.

Thanks for the comments. It really is very good, I am still new to it all and like all things, once you have become used to how it operates, the operation becomes way slicker. As well as the whizz wheel, there is voice command or the good old finger. Like I say in the video there are many ways to operate the unit. 6 inches would be great as 7 is a bit too big(possibly)😁

It was great hearing the background to Chigee, I tend to assuming these companies are just out for a quick buck. Nice to know that in this case they really care about the riding experience. I would like the Chigee setup but I feel it's overpriced. My replacement Carupride arrived last week so looking forward to trying it out. That Sunset time is a very neat feature. The unit self updating is so much better than faffing with cards and being sent the wrong BIN files (thanks for that Carpuride)! Thanks for the in depth video GSD

So many questions - so I’ll apologise in advance!
I thought you originally said this was going on the Triumph as you were running the Carpuride on the GS?
I bought this unit last week and was delivered within a couple of days to Australia, but haven’t yet found time to get the install done. I have powered it all up and confirmed it works.
I’ve removed my Nav prep from my GSA - did you cap the OEM loom when you removed your Nav prep?
The leads from the unit appear quite long before the connection/join to each accessory. Is this what we saw zip tied behind the right fairing?
    Sorry for all the questions!

Hi . Plans changed . I have a trip to the world war 2 landing beaches in Normandy , France coming up next week and I wanted to take this unit . Carpurides 5 inch unit will be with me in a few days and I will put that on the Triumph . The nav prep plug simply tape over . When I installed my garmin zumo in purchased the plug that fitted into the power supply for the nav prep and then connected the zunos wire to it so had switched live power . But yes just cap it off no issue with error codes etc . The carpurides cable simply route your preferred method it’s very flexible just avoid anything hot ! 😁

I like the BMW TFT Nav but it's a pain having to reconnect every time the bike is switched off/phone used to pay for fuel etc. And as I have a iPhone Max Pro it won't fit into the offside charging area meaning I have to keep the phone in my pocket with the Nav running for several hours without being able to charge it!!. Hi Paul, well here I am again🤨 Mansell’s gave me the new BMW Connected Navigation unit, because my Nav 6 gave up. After all the problems I’d had I was going to go Garmin XT2, but as I was given the new one, I was off to wales last weekend and Surprise, Surprise I didn’t get on with it, it’s shit. So I’m back to square one again. I remember I think, you said, you were looking into seeing if these units could interchange between bikes, so just having to get two sets of wiring. Are you able to move the Chigee unit, between two bikes? If not I may just get the Garmin. Do you have any thoughts on this dilemma? Thanks

I have just returned(yesterday) from doing the Normandy landing beaches. I had the Chigee, which is a hard wire job, so is not removable per se. My brother-in-law had the 5" Carpuride and another rider in our group had the 7' Carpuride. We chopped and changed bikes and the 7"is big very easy to read. The Carpurides can be swapped and all you would need is a power supply. Bizarrely, the usb unit on the BMW doesn't provide enough oomph to power it, but easily connectable to a Thunderbox making swapping a doddle for the doodle rider! The Chigee is staying on my bike!

The signal/coverage is in my opinion getting worse and worse as these companies keep merging. Taking out the signal stations/mast/staff to service them to save money and increase profit. It's good but not worth the asking price you can get alternative for half the price. I have a EVkey can see why this is more reliable though. They all need a quick release as standard on all these products. Sygic is standard on my bike screen. Horrible product maps are incorrect.

For that money I'd sooner just buy a tomtom rider 550, already have my helmet cam and keep my phone in my pocket connected to my headset for my music and calls, simples....

I have it. The only downsides are the camera cables, way too long. They should be short right out of the device and then different length extensions for purchase, in order to avoid horrible bundles here and there. Also, there should be the possibility to remove the TMPS from displaying if the bike has its own OEM tire monitoring system. All in all, a step or two above in quality comparing to the competitors.

Videoing your ride opens you to your insurers and police blaming you!
Complete phone BS, come off your bike and break an arm( whatever ) there's a good chance you can't get to your phone or you've rolled and smashed it!
Phones secured on bike for many years used in high temp sunny weather, Navigation faultless. No overheating, secured to bike and connected to helmet coms. Just tell it to call X y or Z. iCrap phones have issues, not everyone is stupid enough to buy iPhone!
No Chiggy needed, hundreds of Pounds saved!

@@gsd32i get you, very catty. Don't post on public accessible media channels if you can't take criticism and facts.
Hundreds of Pounds more for Chinese tat, when you find the Chinese are hacking your phone data you'll soon be

Legal facts .... " cameras can only be used as evidence if it shows details such as a number plate. Camera evidence can work in two ways; you can use it as evidence against someone else but it can also be used as evidence against you if you are at fault in a road traffic accident."
You have to be pretty darn sure you've made no mistake or could be partially to blame for and accident👍

Great comments still. You clearly haven't done the bedside manners coarse how to speak to people . Oh well. Many folks use these cameras and I am sure they all know what they can be used for, ie against you. Dash cameras are very common, some folks are happy with them and some folks aren't. if you don't like them then that's your prerogative, I suspect you are not a big fan of them. Criticism is all well and good when it is well balanced, oh and my shoulders are big enough. We all ride to enjoy is the bottom line, anything that helps the rider if required must be a good thing? Anyway ride safe. 😁
