I used intermittent fasting and a no carb diet for 4 months, and I lost 2 stones. Over the following year, I started to eat unhealthily again but still fasted more often than not. I put on about 5 lbs, which I believe would've been more if I hadn't been fasting.
For the last 3 weeks I've started eating healthily with lots of veg, meat, fruit and foods like sauerkraut. I've been doing 17-hour fasts 5 days a week, a 24-hour fast on one day, and on the seventh day, no fasting. I've lost 9lb in those 3 weeks, and I'm the lightest I've been in years, and I feel great in myself, and weight loss and health finally feels possible for me!

I took Ozempic for 1.5 years. Lost 65 lbs. my insurance stopped covering it, and I couldn’t afford it anymore. Even on a 1200 calorie a day diet, all the weight came back. Since I started Fasting, I have lost 30 lbs. I feel better. I am for sure healthier. I have learned about my body, my health, my lifestyle. And yea, fasting is so much more affordable. Thank you Dr Mindy.

@@sunsioux444 Multiple doctors tell me too. For the moment I have no side effects and great numbers and it does kill hunger... but we eat because we eat not because we're hungry anyway. I've had both an emergency appendectomy and emergency gall bladder removal in my life, both long before Ozempic and a very high percentage of fat in my liver so for me it probably makes sense to continue. I wore a jacket last night to my cousin's house for dinner I'd not put on for 3 years! Slipped right on. Only down side was, when I got to his house, dinner was a Costco meat pie, oven chips, and frozen peas boiled to death. He slathered the chips AND the peas in Hellmann's mayo...He's supposed to be changing his lifestyle due to Type II diabetes and recently diagnosed fatty liver. I've been trying to convince him to join me with intermittent fasting and a whole foods diet since we live quite close, but he just can't seem to help himself.

Love intermittent fasting. Was over weight most of my life and tried all the diets. Within 24 hours of quitting sugar my arthritis pain ceased. Over 15 months I lost 125 pounds and hubby lost 80. We have kept it off for over 2 years. All my blood test are perfect and hubby is off his high blood pressure pills. Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement. Good health is the goal not just weight loss. Regards from Canada.❤

That's interesting. I'm glad the sugar thing worked so quickly for you. I have rheumatoid arthritis (nearly 24 years now - started when I was 26). I don't eat refined sugar or foods with added sugar, or 'sugar-like stuff', but I still have pain from my arthritic joints considering some of them no longer have cartilage and a few are currently inflamed (left and right middle fingers and left elbow - I think a new arthritic nodule is forming on the olecranon process). I've cut any foods from the nightshade family out (tomatoes, capsicum, eggplant, paprika, white potatoes - but I didn't have potatoes very often anyway). The swelling and increased pain seems to be going down over the last few days, so fingers crossed.

Started intermittent fasting 90 days ago, lost 40 lbs, A1C went down from 7.0 to 5.8, the first thing I noticed was loss of appetite after two days, I do 18:6 daily with a 48 every two weeks. Cut most processed foods. No I don’t consider that I am dieting but feel it’s just a change of lifestyle, plan to keep doing it even after I hit my goal weight,,, as I feel so much healthier.

Been following Dr Mindy’s advice for a couple of months now. Doing a lot of 36 hour fasts, some 48s and some 18s and breaking them exactly how she says, in order to optimize gut health. Can’t believe how little my hunger is now during fasting. It’s like a flippin’ miracle!
Listen to this wonderful woman, get her books, become an expert on your own health and you WILL lose weight, especially that stubborn belly fat!
For the first two weeks or so I didn’t feel great developing my fasting lifestyle and it was hard to keep going. But I’m so glad I did, as the weight is dropping off.
I was anorexic at 15 and have been on and off diets ever since. I’m now 57 and am so proud of myself for persevering and finding something that really works for me. I feel healthier on so many different levels. It’s like I’ve found the elixir of life, or like I’ve unearthed buried treasure 😊

Unfortunately, my brother is on Ozempic. He needed to lose 200 lbs and his A1c was high. He talked his doctor into giving him Ozempic. In the beginning, he lost 50lbs. He's barely lost any more over the past 6 months. He still drinks 3-4 Dr Peppers a day, barely eats any nutritious food and snacks every night and on the weekend on Doritos, Cheetos popcorn, cheetos, etc. He thinks he's doing good because his Aic is under 5.0. SMH It's useless to tell him he's NOT healthy at all. Now he wants to have his knees replaced because they hurt like hell to walk. What he doesn't seem to innerstand is that it's his weight that has caused a lot of his physical problems. I really doubt they will replace his knees and not make him lose additional 100 lbs. It saddens me to no end but I just remind myself that that was his soul contract that he made with Prime Creator before incarnating this lifetime. Who am I to interfere? He wouldn't listen to me anyway.

many have to learn on their own and make the changes when they’re ready. You just keep living your healthy life and modeling healthy behavior and choices. this is what irks me to no end about medications like Ozempic, folks want the quick fix, and they don’t want or refuse to do the hard work of changing their lifestyle choices. The only thing we can do is change ourselves and work on ourselves. Good luck to your brother.

He hasn't hit bottom yet. My brother had a heart attack at 50 that nearly killed him, then ready to change his diet, he listened to the doctors who said low fat vegetarian diet and eat 6 meals a day. He is 50 lbs overweight. He doesn't see the conundrum of trying to lose weight while eating all the time.
It hasn't worked, he doubles down. I guess it will take another heart attack before he tries something else. Sigh.

It stuns me how many people want the 'band aid - quick fix' solution' wanting rapid results which invariably fails in the long term. One has deal with the root cause to resolve and I find intermittent fasting the most effective and nutritionally balance approach. One has to change your mindset, and I agree wholeheartedly with Dr Mindy, once you are on the path to success your self esteem boost will keep you going. Another key point, so many people give up if the break the regime. Persevere, even if you have a misstep or two. Wishing you all success in your goals. Thanks Dr Mindy, I really enjoy your posts.

Ozempic helped me adopt a fasting lifestyle, I got to a healthy weight and was taken off of it (no longer qualified per insurance reqs) and within a few weeks my blood sugar became higher that I’ve ever seen it in my life and this is with continued fasting AND avoiding sugar. It’s been a tough road to get this balanced and stick to fasting to level things out.

Well, I have mixed feelings. Without Ozempic 9 months ago I would have never been able to fast past 12 hours. With Ozempic doing Omad was a walk in the park. I even cooked for my family and I wasn't bothered at all.
Viceversa, without Omad fasting I wouldn't have lost the 50lbs that I lost while taking Ozempic in fact after the first 10lbs I stalled for ages.
I already had a mediteranean diet being Italian and all but for sure an excessive consumption of carbs and most definitely a frequency problem.
But guaranteed if one doesn't master healthier diet, a little fasting and many behavioral changes... the weight will come right back up in a hearbeat.

I'm 52 and my whole life has been a yoyo and with big weight. I have lost and gained 60+ pounds several times. I've used appetite suppressants a few times and my body would just get immune to them leaving me with no help. I had my most success with the low carb diet but once I lost my weight I resorted to my old habits and gained the weight right back. My sister gave me Fast like A Girl Jan.2024 It makes more since to me than anything I have ever done. I lost 30lbs the first 3 months and my menopause symptoms almost disappeared. My whole approach to food is completely different. I'm no longer afraid to eat fruit or a potato occasionally, which when you do low carb that completely sabotages your diet. 3 months in, life hit and my food choices weren't always healthy. I continued fasting though, and I just bounced around 3 or 4lbs instead of 60. This I learned, the healthier my food the fewer hot flashes and night sweats. I thank the Lord for Dr. Mindy and her books. The flexibility of this lifestyle and the results I've gotten assures me this is the lifestyle for me.

Could you please, please, pretty please, :) make a video for us on your views on consuming “resistant starch” especially in terms of the recent tiktok #ricezempic and #oatzempic craze. I love science and research. I have been consuming your knowledge like crazy to adapt to a fasting lifestyle and balance my hormones around my monthly cycle, and I’m loving all that I’m learning about my bodily system and how I’m feeling as well! I am curious if I can create recipes that incorporate resistant starch using “nature’s carbs” like sweet potatoes, beans and oats, there are some scientific theories based around cooking them then cooling them before consuming which is supposed to lower the glycemic impact and change how they are then digested by your body, it is very intriguing me and giving me all kinds of make ahead meal ideas,…..so I would love to hear your views!! This video dropped at the perfect time, we get what we need when we need it! I have been researching semaglutide as a possible help for weight loss as a possibility shared by my functional medical doc. I'm not diabetic and my a1c and glucose levels are great, I eat well, and do struggle to consistently exercise although i have a fairly active lifestyle. I've struggled with my weight my entire adult life, now mid 40s, and I just need to lose weight, at least 60-70 lbs. I've done fasting of all sorts, ADF, OMAD, and the fast like a girl protocol for thyroid (I have hypothyroid), and the scale isn't moving....hence the semaglutide research. I'm open to other's similar experiences that may be helpful, i don't want to take it, but at this point i need the weight to come off and need a solid working plan. I really resonate with the fasting lifestyle and wanted fasting to work, and am so frustrated that it doesn't seem to be helping me.

If you can't lose weight dieing then semaglutide won't work. If you aren't hungry and overeating then semaglutide won't work for you. It suppresses appetite so you feel full all of the time. I'm already like that without meds. When I track calories and macros in a deficit I have to make myself eat to hit the deficit. I haven't been able to lose any substantial weight in 4 years

You couldnt pay me to take Ozempic, not a chance. Unless I was about to die from overweight but that will never happen. Its really hard to keep weight off but it is easy to get it down if you really need to. It takes just a little bit of focus and planning, plus a bit of patience. Taking ozempic takes away the ability to look after your body properly through education and practice.

Some people are sick of playing riddle me this trying to figure out the way to "fix" their system. I have a friend who started Wegovy about 2 months ago. She finally lost the 20 lbs she couldn't get rid of. But now she is trying to figure out how to get off it. It's not just getting off it for me. It's about 5 years from now when they say it causes cancer. I won't be using it. I'd rather be fat. Big pharma gets nothing from me

I haven’t lost weight with fasting like I want yet but I know it still helps me so so much. I will keep doing it because I notice changes in my appetite for the better. I still eat terrible foods which is probably why my weight isn’t going down but I’m just hoping it’ll keep getting better the more I fast. I really don’t want to use medication to lose weight because getting off of it seems scary. My mom won’t let go of the idea that a pill will fix everything. She used ozempic and was so happy to lose weight but eventually she couldn’t get it anymore because of lack of supply… she’s gained back her weight that took 6 months to lose. She keeps finding a new drug and saying this works and I can use it for the rest of my life! Like that’s a good thing… ☹️

Hi Mindy, I have been trying to do fasting now for a couple of weeks. I was able to jump right in and do two 60 hour fasts and felt fine.
My question is: I’m never hungry. I don’t get hunger cues. I start to feel dizzy and weak and heart beating loudly after 60 hours.
I just have a big belly and some thigh fat to lose. I’m 136 and I’m 23 years old. I ate pretty badly the last year so I think I completely messed up my digestion.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. I’ve tried to look up videos with fasting and never hungry and it’s usually the opposite. Should I keep doing longer fasts? Or start eating regularly so I don’t become malnourished than I probably already am.
Thanks for taking the time to read and I really hope to hear from you!

one of the things that make me wonder is protein intake. The struggle I have is I trying to loose weight and build muscle at the same time. In order to build muscle, you need in my case around 180g of protein. The amount of protein the body absorbs in one sitting is around 25g and it is not going to absorb more for another 2-3 hours. if you fast for 20 days constantly you only have a 4 hour eating interval which doesn't allow for the full protein intake required to support or grow my lean muscle. if you fast for 18 hours - which is the minimum in my opinion, you have 6 hours so i could get maybe 75g of protein. Do we know how many proteins are released from stored fat when going through ketosis if any?

Well, my question to you is for Diabetes 2, you would be on Metformin for the rest of your life so why wouldn’t you be on Ozempic for the rest of your life unless you were purely using it for weight loss and not to control your A1c just asking

    • @ima40schic

no one has to be on metformin for life. I got both of my parents off of it in 30 days and my mom took it for over 20 yrs! Berberine and better choices. They are both regulating their sugar just fine now for going on 4 years, so much so that their doctor is now recommending Berberine to some of his diabetes patients.

It’s too bad she’s not emphasizing the amount of protein more mature folks need, and it’s not easy to get it all in. .8-1.0 g / lb of ideal body weight. Then keeping/building muscle. Yes, we lose weight but we lose muscle mass as part of that weight loss. Also, for those doing IF, appropriate calories need to be maintained as well. Otherwise we’re not getting proper nutrients. I’m not saying not to IF, but it’s the same bottom line with any approach-proper nutrition and exercise, emphasizing weight work

I use Oz along with low carb life, IF 16/8 and only lose a lb a month. Ozempic was the only thing that stopped the food chatter. I eat real foods from scratch I'm sure some dont.
With my health risks why would I want to get off. No patch. I eat extremely well. I may try to ween off it but if the chatter comes back and it's life or death I won't hesitate to go back on it.
