I'm asymptomatic. I want to eat gluten even if it's for 1 week a year. I'm gf 99.5% of time.

Is it fair that a company like Schar can charge £1.50 for 10 custard creams when i get double that for 34p from Morrisons ?

Hi, the reaction to eating gluten varies from person to person. In some people it may trigger immediate symptoms that last several days, while other people might not experience any symptoms. The amount of gluten someone eats affects the degree of gut damage and your individual sensitivity to gluten affects the symptoms you may or may not experience.
Also, whilst following a gluten free diet and then accidentally eating gluten, your symptoms may differ in type and/or severity compared to before you were diagnosed. However, if a person makes the occasional mistake and eats gluten by accident, it is unlikely to cause any long term gut damage.
After you have eaten gluten you may suffer from diarrhoea, abdominal pain or vomiting so it is important to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. Some people also find that taking medication to treat constipation, diarrhoea or headaches can ease symptoms. We recommend speaking to your GP or pharmacist. The most important thing is to get back onto your gluten free diet to prevent further symptoms.

After 5 minutes of eating gluten I get gassy, bloated, and have sharp pains too. Then it also interferes w/ my mood as well. I’m still trying not to eat gluten, but it can be hard because of $ or not having the stores you need that carries gluten free products.

If you have these symptoms only, you can consider yourself lucky. Try brain fog, joint pains, depression, reproductive problems, colon cancer. Or wherever your immune system desires to attack next 😢
