Just stay on the diet and get on with your life. However, if you are one of those people who insist on the "official" diagnosis then go ahead and punish yourself some more. In the end if it really is Celiac then you will still end up on the diet forever. Personally, I would have gone on the diet at the onset of my symptoms and never looked back. I would rather just tell people I don't tolerate gluten and leave it at that. That is all I do now anyway. The blood test requires there to be gluten in your system when you take it, or else it will always come out negative from my understanding. Would definitely make sense if you’ve been gluten free for two weeks or more, the biopsy on the other hand doesn’t depend on gluten consumption. :)

    • @littlebitofhope1489
      @littlebitofhope1489 Před 7 měsíci +1

      That can happen if you are not eating gluten for two weeks before the blood test. The damage to the intestine takes much, much longer to heal if it ever completely does. You can also have a false positive or negative for any blood test. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen. The biopsy is the gold standard. If you have a positive biopsy, just forget about the blood test.

    I mean, when I eat pasta , bread and all that I start burping constantly , feeling full as well, then I started this diet of only eating animal products and veg, started feeling pretty good until It was my birthday and had to eat cake, which resulted in lots of gases and feeling full. So I'm 99% sure its the gluten. No need for a doctor if you test it yourself. Unless you want an actual confirmation. of which involves a tube down your throat until your intestine 😂

    • @1misago
      @1misago Před 7 měsíci

      Distended abdomen and burping were my main symptoms before a recent coeliac diagnosis. I also have daily migraines, which might be connected. A diagnosis is useful, because if positive for coeliac, then it focuses the mind on adhering strictly to a gluten free diet, because there are potential serious complications such as malabsorption, and neurological disorders (headaches, neuropathy, ataxia). Also, first degree relatives have a significantly increased chance of having coeliac disease, so they should be screened.
      The problem is that if you have been avoiding gluten, then you have to go on a gluten containing diet again for around 6 weeks before being tested, otherwise you might have a false negative result.
      By the way, the endoscopy/biopsy is nothing to worry about. I was given an anaesthetic throat spray and sedation, so barely have any recollection of the procedure.
