I'm pretty much on hour 96 of 120. This is my third time. Some tips:
    1) Start it the day before. What I mean by that is if you can eat dinner early, say 4pm/3pm the day before you start, then by the time you wake at 7am you have already got a 15hr head start.
    2) Plan it around days you can be lazy. The first two days, but especially the first can be rough for some people. So if you are like that, start it on a Sunday. For me, I like to plan it so I start on a day I'm working from home. That way I'm busy if I want to or I can look after myself a little more.
    3) Water is your best friend. I don't know why but drinking from small cups isn't the same as huge 2lt glasses. When I feel a pang or acid, I drink 2ltrs.
    4) Black coffee is your mistress. Feels like cheating, but isn't.
    5) Exercise. I don't know the science but it seems like the body accepts that you are doing something and switches off the hunger nagging.
    6) Electrolytes. There are plenty of sugar free, carb free, sports drinks with electrolytes. You never feel dizzy or swoony providing you have them in your system. I did a 20 mile run and drank a HEAP to keep myself safe.
    7) Don't be beaten by cravings. Cravings and hunger aren't the same thing. You start imagining cooking and various meals. You don't feel hunger after day 3 but you promise yourself some food goal as a reward. Don't. Whenever you are ready to finish, push yourself that extra 24hrs. Why? Because you realise the hunger has gone and it's just the addiction.

I find it hardest during the second day, because I have a toddler that I have fix breakfast and lunch for :ol Dinner was easy my teenager was able to cook dinner. So I think next week I'll do my second 48 and if that goes well next month I may try my first 72. I got emotional watching you get emotional reflecting on the fact that you hadn't weighed 154 since college. I weighed 125-130 in college/grad school, have never seen it again. Did keto to get to 146 and I was so happy. Maintained for 6yrs but then put on 50 lbs in 2 yrs taking care of my Mom. Covid contributed a bit too. Finally restarted keto a month ago. Am feeling great. Lost 12 lbs - lost it faster yrs ago ;) You, headbanger's Kitchen and Keto Connect got me to restart and I'm so grateful. I'm in science and your approach and headbanger's (because of the flavors and cuisine) appeal to me the most. I love Clean Keto. The KetoConnect guys are awesome too. Thanks so much. Great job, Steve!
I am always following your videos as I find them to be very interesting and presented with the right kind of soberness.
I decided to do a prolonged water fast this year, 2022, of 21 days, as I know that autophagy takes a long time to get you anywhere. My decision was not given in by a weight loss goal, but for medical reasons.
However, when I got to the 21st day, I felt very good and had the distinct impression that the autophagy process had not been enough yet. So I went on, taking it day by day of prolonging it, until after the 30th day, I decided to go for 40 days. I am now on the 39th day, so tomorrow, the 1st of August 2022, I will end my water fast. I think I may have reached my goal, but will have to wait for the result of an MRI scan.
    Learned a lot as well!

Steve - In a prolong fast, such as yours, if you had maintained your electrolytes-Salt-Potassium-Magnesium-Calcium-which athletes, bodybuilders... endurance athletes have learned to use in a fasted condition. This planks, may have been endurable! Athletes understand the benefits of Autophagy, but hesitate to lose gains, from not working out. You didn’t mention your water intake, or if you were dry-fasting. If you maintained hydration, throughout your fast, then I would recommend adding salt-Redmond Salt, is my favorite, and a growing commodity among the Keto, and Carnivore community. In a 3 to 4 day fast, such as yours... Water weight was your primary weight loss, especially if you weren’t adding a little salt to your water. Add to that, the complete emptying of your bowels. (The foaming sensation, was essentially “Light runs, as the elimination was completing.) Once the body is free from digestion, it begins the process of self-digestion. Like all waste products, it is eliminated through the bowels, urine, skin and breath. As for the lose skin hypothesis, it is “loosely” based on long term experiences in personal testers, and the visuals of (Sadly) those in long term concentration camps. Forced to eat OMAD-One Meal A Day... which is now a popular way to intermittent fast... 23/1 hours. Prisoners were forced into prolonged fasting/starvation. The body is very smart, and will utilize itself to survive. First removing the parts of cells, unneeded (Autophagy) then the lean body mass, adipose (body fat) and draw calcium from the skeletal system. And ultimately the skin. Some of those imprisoned, not very many, were overweight, and had loose skin as they were being systematically starved. The skin was self-consumed to survive... a little longer. The pictures of these tortured souls, still haunt us today! Sorry, to ramble off on this. But strategic fasting, more mimics the ancestral way of eating, that was no food for days, as you hunted for protein, and ate whatever leaves and berries found, to avoid starvation, along the way. They were a much physically healthier stock-like the lean animals they were-than we are today... not counting for disease and lack of trauma care, when the beast you wanted to eat, fought back! Or found you first! Personally, I’ve gone full “Nose to tail” Carnivore after prolonged Keto. I have added back onions garlic, cilantro... a few LC items (Chaffle’s) so I’ve settled down to a 90% carnivore with 10% LC. (Down over a 100 lbs.) You’d be surprised, how much easier meal-planning is, when you focus on fatty-meats. And not always the duplication of the foods that got you sick/heavy, in the first place. Congratulation on that 70lbs. Great accomplishment... you are not going backwards. And, thank you, for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Serious Keto - There are newer combined supplemental electrolyte solutions out there. However, I add all but calcium, in supplemental form, as a daily insurance policy. (Not familiar with yours) Almost everyone is already deficient in D3, potassium and magnesium, which can effect blood pressure and cardio electric function... arrhythmia/ A-Fib... If you are living a Keto-lifestyle or a Carnivore one... salt becomes more important, due to the enormous amounts of salt consumed in processed food! When you remove that from your life style, the addition of “Healthier salts” becomes something you need to be aware of. WE die without salt, and it has been made a villain, by most cardiologist. You need to compensate for eating healthier, by being aware of your electrolytes. Consider 10,000 IU’s of D3, and add 400 Mcg of K2... they work together in the transport of calcium to the right places, instead of your arteries. I’m not a medical professional-pre-med, and battlefield trauma patching doesn’t count. However, as many of us do... late in life, and after the fact... I’m well read, and have enough personal mileage and measured results, to narrow down many of these things... I wish I knew in my younger adult days! 🤷🏻‍♂️. I did a 10 day fast once... didn’t hydrate enough, and was depleted of electrolytes... I nearly passed out. Started eating immediately... back in the game... learned at the very least, hydrate more than you think, and add quality salt along the way. I salt my coffee, anyway, because a local roaster said “Do you salt your food to bring out flavor? Coffee is a food.” 👌

Aside from that, I work my abs 4-5 days per week and have been working my way through the 30 day plank challenge. I'll probably get back to lifting weights next week.
