    1:27 Peripheral neuropathy symptoms
5:26 A natural alternative for peripheral neuropathy
In this video, we’re going to talk about an amazing natural alternative for peripheral neuropathy.
Diabetic neuropathy usually affects the bottom of the feet and sometimes the hands and is one of the first signs of a blood sugar problem.
Chemotherapy, hypothyroidism, autoimmune diseases, medications, viruses, and Lyme disease can also lead to peripheral neuropathy. However, high blood sugar and diabetes are the most common causes.
Diabetes wears down the myelin sheath over time, leaving exposed nerves at the bottom of the feet.
Peripheral neuropathy can feel like hypersensitivity, burning, severe pain, or itching. If it’s not corrected, it can lead to ulcers in the lower part of the body and gangrene.
Consuming too much sugar makes it difficult for the mitochondria to get enough fuel. Too much sugar also leads to nutrient deficiencies and inhibits the function of enzymes that bring fuel to the cell. When sugar blocks the body’s mechanism for getting energy to the cells, it utilizes alternative pathways for energy.
One of these alternative pathways produces sorbitol, a sugar alcohol. Sorbitol can damage the lens of the eye, leading to cataracts. It can also affect the retina, leading to diabetic retinopathy. Sorbitol affects the cells that compose the myelin sheath. It can also convert to fructose, creating even more problems.
Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1 that can help support the nerves. Try taking 300 mg of benfotiamine 4 times daily.
Lipoic acid is a cofactor for the enzyme that allows you to metabolize excess glucose. Vitamins B5, B2, and B3 are also cofactors for this enzyme.
Diabetes damages your nervous system and brain over time, so it’s imperative to correct your diet, which I believe is the root cause of peripheral neuropathy. Learn more about the benefits of a low-carb diet and intermittent fasting in my other videos.

Bring over a store-bought bag of boiled eggs and 'accidentally' leave it in their fridge. Don't hit them over the head with it, just make sure his cravings have an appropriate target. Just normalize it in their house. Bring a pot roast, etc. You get the idea. You gotta get them out of the mindset that they shouldn't have that stuff, that its a luxury, etc. They're not fighting you because you're not a doctor, they're fighting you because you're not an advertiser.

On Easter Sunday 2017, I ate a whole bunch of milk chocolate all at once. My fingertips burned for 3 days straight. I decided I had to do something, so I cut out all carbs immediately. I also adopted the healthy keto and intermittent fasting plan, including 7 to 10 cups of leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables, mostly raw but also some cooked. I didn't care if I lost weight. I just didn't want to get diabetes like most of my family.
My symptoms cleared up instantly and never came back. I also lost 30 pounds slowly, over the next 6 months. I've never gained back the weight, and it's been 7 years.

It's important to differentiate nerve pain from other causes of pain. If your feet are hurting, when you're standing and walking, that's usually a musculoskeletal pain such as tendinitis. If the pain primarily occurs when you're off your feet, such as when you're laying in bed at night, it's more likely to be nerve pain. To further muddy the waters. If you are pain-free when you go to bed, but you're awakened by your feet being in intense pain, this can be due to a circulation issue.

I'm so sorry for the pain you're going through! I can't take Lyrica it makes me go blind (Thank God I got my sight back eventually when I went off it! I also can't take Cymbalta it made me gain lots of weight and made my pain worse and it really messed with my stomach 😢. So I was continued on pain medication and my migraine medication (which I had to try several before they were able to find one that helped me & then a year to two yrs ago they took me off it even though it was the ONLY one that helped me 😮😭). I have been trying to take as many vitamins that Dr. Berg recommends that I can afford after having to go on disability because of my screwed up neck, entire spine and hips and feet. And I stopped all the painful epidurals in my neck, lower back and feet...which made me gain lots of weight (which the pain doctor actually botched a nerve abalation in my left side of my neck and I couldn't use my entire side of my body for 6-8wks!!!😮😳😱😡 I also had the assistant blow out my vein trying to do the IV for the nerve abalation and I should have sued them because that vein is still messed up and nurses always want to use it because they say "Oh that's a big vein !"😳
I tell them it's big/huge now because the pain doctor's assistant didn't know how to do a IV and distroyed my vein and its NEVER went back to normal in 5yrs.
So I don't trust any medical team anymore!!!
Then after the Botched nerve abalation they wouldn't let her ever do IV again and so she gave me a Xanax for a epidural in my neck and shoulder and Holy Cow they didn't wait until it took effect and I tried to tell them and I felt every bit of the pain and didn't get relaxed until my friends were driving me home 😮😔😭.
I certainly hope you have had better treatment's with your doctor's and nurses etc.
And hopefully you've had good luck and results with the vitamins recommended in the videos 🙏.
B1 has helped with calf pain in my legs, magnesium has helped with the insomnia, but I need to increase the mg.
      Best wishes ❤

Currently on a waiting list to see my neurologist again. My nerve test came back Serve Neuropathy last month. Not that I needed the test to define it. I have also had hypothyroidism since childhood. Sometimes compression socks help a bit but mostly its just constant. This year my hands have also shared in the joys of THE ACHY BURN as well. Sometimes if I soak my feet on scolding hot water it numbs them for a awhile. It seems these things that added relief are helping less n less. Im trying to dig deep n really focus more on my diet again (cutting carbs/sugars) and adding ANY vitamins I can. Im currently taking a strong D3 once a week and a B12 shot once a month. Im hoping these suggestions might add more relief. It seems others who describe my pain level with neuropathy are 10 plus years older than than me. I feel pretty depressed about the whole dilemma.

In a completely seperate fitness effort, I started taking 100% DV of all vitamins and minerals, mostly multi-vitamins with a few supplements. Nothing crazy. Also shifted over to carnivore diet. I hit the gym twice a day, with an hour of cardio on the treadmill. Over the last year, I lost weight and muscled up. My neuropathy slowly disappeared at a rate that I never noticed, but it's now a year later and I suddenly realize that I have NONE of it going on in my foot anymore. Incredible.

I have had mild peripheral Neuropathy, I am not diabetic. I have tried Alpha Lipoic Acid and Benfotiamine, I practice intermittent fasting and dirty Keto. For me it really has been the B1 that has had the greatest results. It has taken around 6 months of B1 supplements but I have almost no symptoms now. Don't eat sugar, go low carb and take B1 as Benfotiamine.

Not only did I lose 80 pounds, but I used to constantly have crippling pains in my feet and ankles where suddenly I couldn’t bear any weight on them and while we were on the program it went away . Now that I’ve not been following it so well the pains have returned. I gotta get back on track!

Funny enough, I got neuropathy after starting intermittent fasting, cutting refined sugars in all forms, and minimizing carbohydrates, following Eric Berg's videos for 2 years now. I lost a lot of weight and I was so happy, for 2 years. Then I gained back weight last year and my right hand pinky finger pain started, which my chiropractic and other doctors diagnosed as neuropathy and now my right foot has developed the same thing. I don't know now whom to believe. Doctors, specialists, or Dr. Berg or no doctor at all?

Hi Doc, I'm not diabetic, but I do have very painful peripheral neuropathy. It feels like my right side is on fire. I had a stroke 1 year ago, and triple bypass 2 months ago. I was pretty healthy up until the stroke, worked hard every day. Good healthy diet. Im not taking much in the way of meds. The neuropathy and memory, left eyesight, and equalibrium are the mail leftovers from the stroke. The bypass was for a blocked widowmaker artery. I see feel more neuropathy in my body sometimes daily. Its agonizing from my stand point, and my family too. It makes taking walks very uncomfortable, and work very difficult. The meds that Dr prescribe do nothing but aggrivate the balance, but nothing for the neuropathy. My wife found your advice worth trying. Im at wits end.
