All you need to know is that it's great in theory but not in practice yet unless you own an Oled and are in a light controlled room. Otherwise I and many others prefer HDR10 as it has better average picture level(overall brightness; highlights are the same, contrast is slightly worse)

4K Ultra HD Blu ray have real Dolby Vision Profile 7 unlike low latency of streaming services 😂
Hey, engineer here. No expert on this, but I took a graduate course in acoustics, so here are some things to keep in mind regarding the ceiling fan question:
1. Regarding the effect of the airflow, the air velocity will add or substract from the speed of sound, depending on which if they are in the same direction or not. Gradients in the speed of sound will cause the sound direction to bend in the direction of lower sound speed. But the speed sound at room temperature is ~750 mph, and the fan airflow speed is waaaay smaller, so any sound speed gradients will be very small, and thus not have a strong effect.
2. Regarding the effect of the fan blades themselves, obviously the blades are stiff and will reflect sound. The larger the angle of the blades (compared to perfectly horizontal) the more angle you will get in the sound waves that bounce off, but fan blade angles are small, so the effect should be minimal. Besides the angle stuff, the motion of the blades induce some doppler effect on the sound, shifting the frequencies a bit higher or lowering depending on if the fan blade is moving toward or way from the sound source and the listener (both matter). Strength of the doppler effect depends on speed of the object bouncing the sound versus the speed of sound. Fan blades move much slower than the speed of sound, and the blades move mostly perpendicular to the sound wave direction (sound is going up, blades move horizontally), so the doppler effect will be weakened.
Anyway, hope that is helpful. My company actually makes software that can simulate the air flow and acoustics, but it would be fairly time-consuming to setup and compute.
This is the kind of comment I was hoping to see! Thank you SO much for taking the time to jump in and share your knowledge. This is awesome. What you’ve said lines up with what I had guessed, but something I NEVER want to do on this channel is state a theory as fact, especially when it isn’t especially well supported or is purely observational. I’m stoked to know you watch this channel, and I’m thankful to have you as a viewer!
@Caleb_Denison
Thanks for the reply and keep up the great work! I'm looking to buy a house within the next year and am looking to get a new TV and surround system for the house. This channel has been a great resource for considering my options.
Hey! Thanks for the input, it is very interesting. I was wondering, since the question about the fan was "does it has an effect that is noticeable to our ears", why don't just try it by yourself and share your thoughts about it (as you do when reviewing sound systems). The fan WILL have an effect on sound, now what we want to know is how much. If I were you I would try to do some sweeps (or just play one frequency in the midrange) on the surround speaker that is under the fan without the fan to move, and then do them again with the fan moving. Maybe you could ear something, then it is noticeable in your case. If not, it is very probably not noticeable...
I don't have a ceiling fan, but if I had the problem maybe that is how I would have done 😊
Thank you so much for your content, it is very interesting and love the format.
Agreed - however a bit strange when you consider the physical sound effects in a room are impacted by the number of people in the room, their specific locations and if they are moving .... our measurement systems are so much better than our senses!!!
dang I wish I didn’t have a ceiling fan
Dolby vision video. Yes!
DV is a joke
Nope you troll
DV is not a joke -watch 'Rings of Power' for example. You'll know. However, it's true it hasn't yet become a necessity for your equipments to support it as about 99% of videos are not in DV, those 1% DV can be watched in fairly good quality HDR TV without DV support.
Seconded 🙋🏾♂️
I love Dolby vision, video plz
Dolby vision deep dive!!!… please.😊
lol. Settle Down, You Fiend.
I often end up with digital versions on Amazon even when putting 4K Blu-ray in the search bar. Bigger problem is preorder Blu-rays not showing at all in a search for a long enough time to where limited editions may already be sold out.
I really would appreciate a in-depth video on DV, also touching why LG TVs almost never don't trigger DV when playing DV mkv files if possible
Everything in the chain needs to support it. I have dv mkv files but the only way it works on my lg tv is when I play it through an app on my Apple TV that’s connected to my local network drive.
Annnddd.... update. Amazon just fixed this search function issue. It now works again as normal, without additional search inputs and drop-downs.
That's hilarious they finally fixed this after Caleb's video. Someone at Amazon must be a fan. 😆 It's something I had noticed for quite some time, and was easily repeatable with a bunch of different titles. Now it's working fine.
Great video! Knowing that people still fight for physical media is great to know. Also, getting a deep dive video for Dolby Vision would be freakin' awesome!!!!
Thanks for the info.
About the ceiling fan issue... I'm with you, we can't know how one particular setup is going to be affected. But, here's my anecdotal observation: I have a baby grand piano in our antique room, the ceiling is high, but the ceiling fan is basically at normal height. When the fan is going (in the summertime), and I'm playing the piano, the sound coming from the piano, to my ears (I'm sitting at the keyboard) is distorted to the point where it sounds like the piano is out of tune. At first, I thought the piano was out of tune. And, when I pointed it out to the piano tuner he said, "try turning off the fan." And... I was amazed at how much difference the fan made in the sound coming from the piano to my ear level. So... when I play in the summer, I turn the fan off, but then it gets too warm in the room, so... yeah. Your mileage may vary!
Thanks again for the info.
Excellent job as always! Yes, a deep dive into Dolby Vision and its lack of full usage would be awesome! Also, I believe you forgot to mention that with all Dolby Vision it has standard HDR embedded within as a separate layer in case the device can only play standard HDR. Let me know if I'm incorrect in that assessment. Have you ever thought of reviewing computer monitors? I'd love to hear an episode about if QD-OLED will be the most widely used technology going forward. It seems that LCD/LED are going by the wayside and that the only competition is Mini LED for the higher HDR peak brightness, but I see the limitations of QD-OLED being made up for in the future, and I also see an end to standard OLED. Keep up the great work!
The format of this video series is awesome. I have gotten many answers to questions I didn't know to ask.
1. Would also like a video explaining the HDR formats and how they work. More specifically, if I buy a Samsung TV and I watch a Dolby vision stream does it show me the video in HDR10+ or just not show it in in HDR at all?
2. Would love a video showing the all the settings to check and the pitfalls to look for when hooking a gaming PC up to an OLED TV. Both from the TV side and the PC side. Mainly to show how to avoid burn in and also to make sure it is getting it's full performance like 4k, 144hz, HDR, low latency etc. I know that would be a tough topic because of a wide variety of settings between tv manufacturers and PC setups but that is also why some of us could use a guide.
Appreciate you, GG
I'd like a Dolby Vision video. I'd also like to know your opinion on whether it's worth giving up Dolby Vision capability on a TV, for example Samsung vs LG (although I've heard LG is ditching DV?) - especially if creators use DV to more of its full potential.
I currently have an LG G2 OLED as well as a full Sonos arc set up with the GEN three sub and the era 300 surrounds. currently I have a nice Blu-ray player but the LG G2 does not support DTS pass through. my question is how well does the PCM alternative to the DTS pass through sound when compared to the DTS HD mix, if I were to get a tv that supported the pass-through and supported the DTS HD audio would I be blown away or does the PCM still sound pretty good when compared?
Man I am still rocking a Panasonic SC-HT05 at our family vacation house. The set up is all early 2000s tech. Love the vibe of that "vintage" tech
Another great episode of You Asked! Love the questions and the thoroughness of your answers.
Hi Caleb, because you asked, yes I would love to know more about Dolby vision. And recommendations, maybe summarise the questions and let people read them themselves if they want the whole text?
Also, I love "You asked" because despite being nerdy and knowing a lot off things on geeky subjects, I still learn things here from times to times, mostly useful tricks like raising my surround speakers as my sofa is against the back wall..... And many others. I also ditched my high end AV receiver for a Q990B that works better in my space and kept the stereo system...
I also have the Q990B (this thing bumps) and my couch is also up against the wall. I've got the rear surrounds on stands that are roughly ear level, but it feels almost wasteful to have them facing straight forward. Where and what direction do you have yours mounted?
@@jonnay slightly angled towards me but 25cm or 30cm (as suggested by Caleb) above ear level which is much better than ear level. Much much better.
Great series! I like all the questions and are fun to listen to! Keep it going, man!
Like this idea and this format! Keep it up !
Yes, I noticed this quite while ago! I still buy physical media from time to time and I found it very frustrating to find 4K UHD Blu-ray, even when I was given a link for ones on sale, it would never come up properly or it would again populate to the prime video or even one that was not on sale
What's the best way to passively cool your receiver? One of my 9.2 Atmos Denon receivers seems to be getting warm, borderline hot
I had trouble getting The Abyss 4K too, but I searched all around and it seemed to be more of a general availability issue than a specific Amazon issue. I got my copy from Barnes & Noble (actually was in a local store and one of the only ones in the area that had a copy, again speaking to availability issues).
I got a copy of True Lies 4K through Amazon with no problems.
CZcams finally sent me to a channel I like. Great video. You have a new subscriber now.
Better late than never! 😅
When my ceiling fan is on medium speed(all summer)I have yet to notice any effect on my 7.4.4 system. However, when I run my vacuum under and around the fan it clearly produces a wawa sound. So it might have some effect with my 8Ft. ceilings. I will have to listen harder.
I made the mistake of installing a in ceiling klipsch speaker a foot above a ceiling fan for a whole home heos music system. When the fan is on, you can hear a difference when standing underneath the speaker but most people come to my house can't tell the difference unless I point it out for them.
I would think the fan speed would also matter for the last question and fan type. Some are very silent and others are not silent at all as they move through the air.
With respect to Amazon and physical media, I have noticed that it has gotten harder to get search results for physical discs. And the listings that seem to come up first are the streaming ones. Plus when you navigate to the Blu-ray section, when clicking on "new releases", pre-orders'", and "best sellers" NO RESULTS COME UP. What is with that? Its as if they are that interested in selling discs these days.
Really enjoy the q&a shows. I’d like a Dolby vision deep dive. Sounds cool. That ceiling fan quandary is a good one.
that was great Caleb, a lot of good info there 👍
I think the best thing you can do to keep people interested in watching videos day-to-day week to week. Is it discuss new technologies/trends. new things that come out week a week because most of us who follow tech,I mean there’s always gonna be some people are interested in buying a new TV, but for each one of those there’s probably 20 people or 50 people who just wanna hear about what’s the future hold and what are the next products and what are the next things so I would always recommend taking some time to highlight new technology or even research or you know what’s down the road what’s in the future about media TVmusic, etc. etc. and don’t just stick to reviews. I also like the Q&A series which will answer questions about what people are interested in so keep doing that.
I'm glad I'm not the only one having the issue with Amazon! Thanks for covering it Caleb! It's funny they fixed the issue now after your video, a problem I've noticed for months! 😆
Looks like I’m not alone: I’d also like a deep dive into Dolby Vision. And your perked my interest with the tease that only a tiny sliver of DV’s ability is currently being used.
I'm so excited for the xm6! I hope they have the planar drivers from audeze in them
Your cameras are great, I can see your content on my LG C series OLED with GOOD cables and your video always looks great.
Thanks for search tip for finding Blu-ray Discs on Amazon 🙃it me help find a TV series I was looking for and as long Blu-ray and Dvd are sold I will get them .😊
These vids are great very informative
This has been happening for quite a few years now on Amazon, at least to international buyers like me.
All the results for physical media are buried deep within few layers of the search results of said movie title so it discouraged those that weren't persistent or old school enough to find it but it still there.
The worst problem is availability and that they're often don't ship many of these Blu-rays worldwide anymore and if can be its frigging expensive, if I buy more than one title it's easily over $100 total and I'm not talking about 4K Blu-ray, just normal Blu-ray.
Hi Caleb, I wouldn't change a thing, except for this: don't read the questions word for word. You don't have to. As long as we understand the question, it should be fine. In fact, a quick summary would do.
That is all, please keep these videos coming, I can't wait for each one!
Video quality so when I watch villaman I get options for HDR play back but I don’t see options for HDR for you Caleb. Explain my ignorance please ?
I think that happened to me but I changed something so the streaming options show up first.
Caleb, where's the Samsung Q990D review? Keep up the good work, love your content!
I enjoy all of your tech advice ! Wanting to know what other device other than game consoles and PC that can benefit HDMI 2.1 ???
Caleb can you get a better lapel mic? I think the Sanken are the best sounding especially going through a Sound Devices mic preamp
Hey Caleb Great content, just a comment to Eric's input on Your camera system...Believe me Your camera system is pretty AWESOME!!! I watch your show 90% of the time on my Sony A9G { which is old } However the pictures on your show are Always Flawless so... i have to agree somethings going on on Eric's end, possibly in his U Tube settings, maybe too low? Keep up the Great work. 313
Brandon is so right. I had to use Google as well. It’s so hard to find uhd disc. Amazon is horrible.
Okay - maybe pair up components and various combinations of components . . . Like the best TV for an Xbox Series X with the best A/V Receiver with the best speakers with the best 4k player and so on, in various tiers?
I've had no trouble searching for DVD's & Blu-rays on Amazon. Best Buy is still selling Discs here in Canada.
I got a new TV because I watch your videos and HDTV Test, and Tech with KG and everyone said how sick the QD Oleds are haha
I use Sony Atmos speakers, and prior to mounting them up on the wall facing down to my sweet spot, using them to bounce Dolby ENABLED upright sound off the ceiling with the ceiling fan (running or not) reduced the amount of sound from the speakers.
A Dolby Vision deep dive video would be great. Especially as I've noticed plenty DV (and even vanilla HDR10) movies whose average brightness and peak brightness are usually in or below the range of SDR. An artistic choice, sure (not every movie needs to be bright as a store tech demo), but hardly what DV is sold as being.
I’d definitely be interested in hearing about deep dive on Dolby vision. It’d be interesting to learn more about how 4K Blu Ray DV is different from steaming DV. I’ve heard there are different profiles, but I’m not really sure what that means.
You could try a 1K sine wave thru all speakers and then individually with fan on and off. A tone sweep might be interesting as well with all speakers on then individually with fan on then off.
How’s the S95D review coming along?
Add accessibility features, including the blind 2:31
Good Buddy Rich album in the back!
I’ve definitely been noticing the Amazon search link not always showing 4K Blu-ray’s. Even if you specifically type in 4k Blu-ray, they still give you digital options.
I don't believe there is anything such thing as a 4K Blu-ray, is there?
Yes there is. It’s Ultra High Definition Blu-ray. What do you call it?
@@dishsoap1 I believe it's called '4K Ultra HD'.
If 'Blu-ray' were in the name I think it would just confuse a whole lot of people who would just call them Blu-rays and then get the two formats mistaken.
Amazon is definitely trying to kill physical media. Their search engine used to work just fine and now it’s not pulling up physical media and instead showing results for Prime video and other unrelated items. This is by design.
Hey Caleb: Thanks for all the great information. I'd like to hear recommendations on complete, compatible home theatre systems for 1-2 people in a one BR apartment. It's tough considering myriad combinations which may or may not be compatible with all aspects of the system. I'd love it if you picked a few modest price points and systems to match. This older building does not have fibre optics and likely won't for years. Download rates are about 25 MPS. Is it practical to depend on streaming? Physical media and their players are waning. Is it worth investing in a player and physical media? I'm not talking about the biggest and the best. It's more about the reliability of the system to deliver compatibly. It's easy to imagine that Sony's flagship tv for 2024 will match well with a Sony receiver, Sony Speakers and a Sony player. But what pairs well with a 55 inch Hisense U6N or a 65 Inch Samsung S90C. I'm guessing sound systems ranging from built-in to 5.1.2, receivers from none to 5.1.2 and speaker clarity being much more important than maximum volume.
Regarding chapter 6 (studio camera): Your videos probably look soft to him because you use 24fps and that introduces *A LOT* of motion blur. Upping that to 30fps or 60fps would make your cotnent look "more 4K" as it's sharper and more realistic. The nice benefit would be that it also becomes easier to rate TV motion from your reviews though that's still limited.
The clarification I'd like on Dolby Vision is what purpose the dynamic metadata serves if displayed on a TV whose peak brightness levels surpass the peak brightness of the source (i.e., stream, disc, etc). For instance, a 1200 nit TV playing a 500 nit disc with DV - is it doing anything at all in that scenario?, and if so..what exactly in that scenario?
My original understanding of DV was that an algorithm was automatically tone mapping on a frame-by-frame basis, but looking over a DV tutorial recently I got the sense that the person in charge of the transfer is making decisions about those frame-by-frame settings...yet DV is tone mapping to the TV being played on either way. Is the person doing the transfer deciding the tone mapping of each frame, or are they deciding predetermined parameters for what the algorithm will later process during TV-specific playback somehow? If the latter, what are those parameters saying really...??
Searching for 4K or UHD at Amazon has been a nightmare for a long time. I don't know why there isn't a section for 4K or UHD.
Yeh with Samsung AI in TVs and glowing reviews on the new TVs, I question if we need Dolby Vision since streaming is the norm and most TVs aren’t tuned properly to get the best out of it. But would like your opinion.
Thank you. I gave up trying to find UHD disks for The Abyss. I wonder how many sales Amazon has lost. I stopped looking.
There are so many different types of fans, fan blades and then the architecture of the room, all those will factor into this calculation
For the which AVR to choose: I have a Denon 2700 in 5.1.2. Their next tier up has more power and supports more speakers and of course costs a lot more. My version only has 1 HDMI 2.1 in addition to the Earc 2.1 port, but that is the same configuration as my TV. DVD/CD and VHS players do not require 2.1 ports. For in home use and "reasonable" sound levels the 2700 has power to spare or do you have no neighbors for miles? I'm using Jamo speakers and pleased with them as well. In store (remember those times?) there were speaker sets that did sound better, but the cost...oh my.
Good to know, thank you!
Will you please make a video about DTS virtual X?, my budget only allowed me to buy the samsung hw-b550 sound bar, and I have to confess the virtual surround speakers are very good, I do hear sounds above me, around me, very close to actual rear speakers, the problem is I have to be sitting exactly in the middle to enjoy those virtual speakers effects, how can i improve my experience, soundwise? virtual surrounds are not as bad as I saw in some other videos, they are actually very good.
2:29 Automated closed caption split 350 million as 300 50 million. Sounds like you said "300 and 50 million."
Great tip about choosing Movies and TV from the dropdown list by the way.
10:30 Your video looks great to me on my LG C2 TV. I think it comes down to calibration issues, but I don't know what's going on without gathering facts from the Sony A80K user... Automated closed caption thought you (caleb) said Sony A8K but I heard you say A80K. Not your fault on this one.
11:00 I live in a rental house with my two family members (travel nurses) and we live in a 1920 house in Cleveland, OH. The basement has beans in the ceiling and not only that the hardwood floor is visible from the basement that leads up to the living room and my family accidentally spilled a glass of wine on the floor and cause the wine to drip down to the basement. Mind you, it's the U-shaped glass, a narrow cylinder below the glass, and the base at the bottom and those kinds of glasses get knocked down easily compared to regular glasses. I've had to clean up my family's mess in the basement because the ceiling has tiny little holes on them,, letting small amounts of light to shine through through the floor that leads down to the basement. I can imagine my equipment such as my home theater receiver getting caught by the "spilling down to the basement" liquid. That would make me really angry... Not like I would buy that "it's an accident" as an excuse for choosing an old house to live in...
Amazon Australia seems to only sell discs from overseas now and the selection is small.
Keep doing the same thing! Love these videos!
More Dolby Vision information please!!
I'm using Mirage omnipolar satellites and a center connected to a Denon. Seems to all sound good. And it fits. (Challenge of having a floor rising projector screen on my one good wall.)
In the other room, an LG CX. Please if you can ask LG if hardware based rolling scan BFI is ever coming back? Hard to overstate how fantastic this capability is, which suddenly was discontinued as of 2022 models...
As always loved the show. (And subscribed of course.)
P.S. And a little sub. 5.1 setup...
I'm most def for a Dolby Vision deep dive. I'm a huge fan of what Dolby has developed and is developing for theater/hometheater solutions (9/10 times I prefer the Dolby Cinema experience to standard and even IMAX films, but ofc some films are meant specifically for IMAX or other special experiences).
Hi Caleb, when are you posting the Hisense U8N review. Thanks!
Regarding DVDs and Blu-Ray on Amazon, I totally agree. You need to bend over backwards to find physical media on Amazon, they clearly prioritize their streaming services.
A celling fan would affect the sound, but it depends on a lot of other variables, i.e. what type of speakers you are using, your room design, how big the fan is, if you have rug or carpet, etc. Have a 13' by 17' by 8' room and cant tell the difference when the fan is on or off.
I own the XM3's I bought 4 years ago now, and weirdly enough I feel like they've held up too well lmao, I really do want the new design in the XM5 and the better battery in the XM4 however the upgrade cycle has been so weird and to this day there hasn't been a headphone I feel is a true upgrade in *every* way. I'd love to switch it up and get something new but having tried the XM5 the comfort was worse, the battery life is the same and I actually found the noise cancelling worse for low frequency noises. The only upgrades would be call quality and faster charging.
Overall I'm patiently waiting for the XM6 to at the very least combine the benefits that came about in the XM4/5 into one package making the upgrade worthwhile. Really do hope they come out this year and the new extra bass wasn't the only headphone for the year. Did really love that Sony is attempting to make a less bass-y sound for the WH series!
I have been hearing about this product "Superbox Elite Ultra HD Android Tv Box" - supposedly offering free streaming. What is the deal on this? Is it legal? Amazon sells them. Are they safe?
I don't know how much time you all have, but what if at the beginning of the video you threw in a little bit of news, and then the Q&A towards the end of the video. That's a format a lot of people I watch do.
Ahhhh😂!! Yelling into a box fan as a kid--that brings back memories. As a kid I used to also create my own box fan-blown air pod with bed sheets. Fun times.
Anyhooos… on question one abt Amazon searching n blu rays, I’ve had similar experience but noticed it long before the Best Buy change. It seems to happen more often when I’m already logged into my Amazon account and search for blu ray movies-maybe something abt searching when logged into account makes their search engine prioritize the prime online movies results instead of showing the physical media ones first.
Just a guess, but yup I’ve noticed to issue too.
Stay cool Caleb n thanks for great content!
I think Amazon doesn't fully pull this with me as I think it knows better than to pull this crap with me. Like it sees I am not streaming that much from them.
I want to buy Kyoto Love Story from them. I hope it sells somewhere.
I really wish you guys would review The international variant of Hisense and TCL mini led tv. In most part of the world, it's a different model than US. I hope you guys can review them and compare it side by side.
Amazon purchased the MGM Catalog. Do you see very many MGM titles being released on disc? What does that mean?
It would be difficult but i would appreciate your efforts to internationalise the content . The different TV models & quality across the world.
I have the XM3's and would recommend therm, also the Sony neckband ones with ANC. Mind you I think the ANC is a bit overrated. Great sound quality though when you compare them to cheap ones.
Dolby Vision deep dive is needed for sure
I think you need to revisit this preferred set up for Earc. Which is better the receiver vs Tv input set up. I have been pondering this question Because I been running my system through my receiver and then the Earc from the tv to my receiver. I think you stated in a video once how you think you get better signal/switching by running all inputs through the tv. I find the opposite is true. My receiver tend to do a much better job of upscaling low res signals and switching. Can you please clarify for me why it’s better to run everything through the tv. Thanks Caleb love the new format
I was focused on the eARC case in my question because our house is gaming the vast majority of the time, and we don't want to deal with the extra potential latency of the receiver.
The Amazon search algorithm has been this way since prime video started renting/selling digital purchases. Nothing new.
Of course theyd do this. You get so much more profit than having to ship, plus a tiny plus margin.
I've never had a problem ordering or finding blu-rays on Amazon, ever. Just do as you suggest and make sure the movies and tv sub category is selected in search box.
Questions answered with Mythbusters style investigations and tests…that would be brilliant…get a couple of friends and try out say DV v hdr10 plus…or Atmos V DTSx…cheap hdmi V expensive etc etc
Love the Digital Trends info…
Keep up the good work
I like this show because I gain a little knowledge every time I watch. Not necessarily useful info for me in this moment, but it adds to the general body of technical knowledge that someday will be useful.
Another vote for Dolby Vision video.
Question, I recently bought a Sony X90L, I have a Sonos Arc and a Roku Ultra. When I open apps like Disney+ on the Roku, the movies will show Dolby Atmos but not Dolby Vision. If I use the built in Apps on the Sony, it shows DolbyVision and plays in Dolby Vision based on the picture setting I can change on the Sony (Dolby Bright, Dolby Dark, etc. On the Roku the picture settings are Vivid, Cinema, etc. I have changed the input settings for HDMI 4 to permit Dolby, so I have no idea if it’s the Roku or I am missing something else. Many thanks and cheers from the Jersey Shore. PS. Love all your work it’s greatly appreciated.
Since you said you’ve already went through your Sony TV’s settings and made sure it’s set to “Enhanced” for Dolby Vision/HDR, the next step is to go into your Roku’s settings. Scroll to “Settings”, click right arrow ➡️, scroll down to “Display type” and set correct setting for your TV which is “4K Dolby Vision HDR TV”. Click “OK” and you’re done.
You can also select “Automatic (4K Dolby Vision)” and the Roku will automatically set your TV resolution to 4K and Dolby Vision HDR.
Hope this helps.
In fact, the “Automatic” selection is the recommended setting for Roku’s in the “Display type” settings.
@@davidbenning10 I double checked, and mine is set for Automatic (4K HDR10 at 60fps) there is no option for Dolby. Could it be the age of the Roku Ultra, it’s the only thing I can think of at this point.
@@chris.fitzgerald Interesting. My Roku is a 2020 model (model 4802R) which supports Dolby Vision. Supposedly, it was the first Roku player to support it. When was your Roku released or what’s the model number?
@@davidbenning10I will have to look at the model number. Don’t remember when I bought it because I have a bunch in the jiuse
Nah. Amazon is still selling physical. Their site is just dumb.
Yeah, their site just makes searching for them a real pain in the ass.
“Dumb”….on purpose…perhaps. If there’s a demand for Blue-Rays more than streaming, Amazon will adjust. If the opposite is true, Amazon will adjust. Either option would be used if Amazon would make more $. But I do have to take into account that Amazon’s search engine needs some tweaking. Peace.
Would you be willing to recommend a 55"-65" tv for less than 1K for a small apartment?
I have a very early Samsung 4k and the lenses are falling off and the only repair shop
that would touch it said it would be as cheap to buy a new one and it probably would be a
much improved tv. I only watch OTA-tv and am not a gamer. Thanks for any suggestions
from anyone.
As a collector I have a missive collection of blur ray discs in HDR 10, plus and dolby vision so I can speak on this. Dolby Vision is the best format for HDR but the creator has to grade it properly for you to see the diffrence, some movies will look amazing making your jaw drop to the floor while others wont look that impressive.
More information on the Dolby Vision fiasco please and thank you 😅
Do some CZcams live interviews with technology experts and engineers on any tech related topics. It will help consumers understand why certain features exist and how users can make best out of their products.
Surely detailed video on Dolby Vision is needed..
The speed of the sound will definitely affect the sound signal (making it sound different)
Dolby Vision deep dive! 👍
Caleb, I see a wide variety of speakers in the reviews you do, when if ever are we going to get any speaker reviews?
Dolby Vision full potential video please.
Also, is HDR10+ here for good or does it look like Dolby Vision will win the "format war"?
Also, keep up the good work!
Dolby Vision Deep Dive please!
A Deep dive on Dolby vision yes,and any way to show a difference on a Samsung tv seeing they don't have Dolby vision
