Wow...I finally get to experience the HT-A9 wireless system...but now it's even better, and has a different name! :) This is not an official review of the system, but please enjoy the unboxing and app setup to see what you're getting! Pretty amazing stuff! Full review coming hopefully soon when the BRAVIA 7 TV arrives so I can test out the center sync feature with this new Theatre Quad. Stay tuned!

Nothing can beat a true 7.1 Speaker Experience .. its beyond watching a movie in a theater .. due to precision and dynamics
Plus 4 height speakers would complete the setup
Love that Sony is getting more creative and not settling on basic 🙌
Me too! They seem to be the most innovative out of all the companies out there, experimenting with lots of products, even if some end up being duds in the end. I’m all about at least trying new things, so I’m glad Sony has the guts to do so. 🤘🎉
@@ealanosborne did you properly set it up A9 Quad? Looking for video review. please set it up for best sound and let us know the positions where your rears places 😀
@@balacisco Yep! I’ve been working on the script for the last couple of days. Gonna be a long one! Stay tuned! 😁
@@ealanosborne czcams.com/video/Ab2kMs2XyCg/video.htmlsi=FnGn_sSGC9kc8sow. Please watch the rear placement if u want the consider the camera angle while they show humans, and compare the rear speaker placement. It was exactly 2 to 3 feet sides and a feet or 2 behind them.
About time! 😩 been waiting on a review for weeks!!!
Andrew Robinson has an actual (not unboxing) review out right now.
@@jamesmichael900 oh, I watched the very first one he made on the original HTA9. Been checking his page ever since.
Cool vid!! Can’t wait to see your reviews. I especially hope you do a full review with the speakers randomly Vs ideally placed!! Also, could you maybe try to evaluate without the subwoofer??! 🎉🎉 I’m mostly curious because it doesn’t coke with it. However hopefully you’ll get a new Bravia tv in to review with these as I would really like to know how it performs against the Samsung Q990C with a Q-Symphony tv setup!! 🎉please. And thank you! 🎉
I have the HT-A9. Immediately, there are 2 differences. The Quad uses your phone's mic to accurately create a 3D map of your sitting location within its sound bubble, and the sub should automatically calibrate based on your distance from it. I think this is already a step above the HT-A9. This may just eliminate the settings in HT-A9 where it asks me if I'm sitting closer, in the middle or further away in relation to the front/rear/left/right speakers but we'll find out in the review. Will the rear speakers volume increase if I change the setting to sit closer to the front speakers or the other way around? I have a 2019 X900F TV that is too old to work with center sync so I will be looking forward to the Bravia 7 MiniLED and Bravia 8 OLED audio tech comparison. I think Bravia 8 has a superior Acoustic Surface Audio+!
hooray finally someone's going to review this thing
Andrew Robinson has a review out right now (not an unboxing).
In your hometheater room, can you set it up randomly and also whatever the position your room supports and compare the results. Am having ht a9, fronts are 6 feet apart, rear left id one feed behind seating location faving exact opposite and rear left is exactly facing seating position. Am satisfied but i want to know how it works for u.pls post waiting for your video
Super pumped for the full review! Also, might be a good idea to play around with the width of the front channels just to see how wide the soundstage can get while maintaining precise imaging during surround sound/atmos content playback.
Exactly! Gonna put those front speakers on light stands and move them around. 🙌
@@ealanosborne awesome!!!
Thanks for initial unboxing and first impressions! Anticipating full review shortly 😉.
Me too! 😄🎉
For 2500, I think these better sound better than the theatres! (These are more than my 77 in OLED) Lol. Thanks for sharing.👍🏾
Outstanding review! Your reviews are fun to watch. You have a great looking house btw and I love it that like me you understood the excellence of the Frame TV.
Always get something freshly new out of watching your videos. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words! 😊🎉
Subscribed! Looking forward to your full review of the quad.
@@Sas-wk9lj Thank you so much! The full review is now live! :)
Great! waiting you review compare sound with HT-A9
After years of begging, Sony never ended up sending me the HT-A9, so I honestly can’t compare the two. 🤷♂️
I'm curious how this compares to the Sonos Era 300 System (Arc soundbar, two Era 300 satellites, one Sonos subwoofer)
Already waiting for the review.
Woop. Planning to possibly upgrade to the 77" Bravia 9 with the quads as the tv has very good beam tweeters so it should also work as a decent center channel. On the old version the speakers and tv play independently, on the new version the TV gets included with the calibration and plays in unison so it should be much better.
Exactly! They definitely stepped up their game with the built-in TV speakers on the Bravia 9. Kinda makes me wish I got that, but I’m pretty sure it’s the Bravia 7 that’s headed my way for review. I’m stoked to test all these things out, though!
So only the QUADS and the SUB is all that's needed? No need for a soundbar? TY
I have the Sony AZ7000ES. Hate the cheap remote. I wish it would offer these speakers as my surrounds. I like that they have an on wall option. I usually listen in Dolby Mode but, I dont know which setting is better AFD Movie or Dolby mode. I hope you do a review on that. Thanks. System looks cool af!!!
I don’t doubt Sony would go backwards in quality. But I wonder if the biggest change is the shape of the speakers? I’m still leaning towards the Q990C for my current (old paradigm) 5.1 replacement.
Thank u for this!
You’re welcome! 🎉
Great review. I have 2 Monitor Audio silver 50 LR speakers and was looking at the sony AN1000 AVR and add the center, rears and 2 ceiling speakers. I am considering this or selling speakers and going the sony quad route. I guess the AVR may be better with dedicated speakers but curious on your thoughts on the quads in comparison. Is the quad as good or better than a 5.1.2 sony avr with same 360 spacial audio. I cant get the 9ch avr in uk so not in the mix. Thanks as always
Yeah I’ll go over that in the official review coming soon. 😊👍
Awesome review!
Thanks! And I do have an official review of the system beyond just the unboxing and setup, if that interests you. 😊🎉
Hello thank you.sony oh my goodness so amazing.i love Sony.
Nice review!
Would this system still sound good if all 4 speakers were mounted on the side walls? (There's no room in front of or behind the sofa in my house in my open concept house, but plenty of room on the side walls)
I would think the surrounds could be mounted on side walls and be fine, but not necessarily the front speakers, to be honest. That would probably cause some odd things to happen, sonically. But that just an educated guess. 🤷♂️
Plase include the comparison with the dragon systems
You're putting it right beside the router, brave. Tell us how you fares with connection with that positioning. Hoping it won't be a problem at all anymore.
So far so good! Apparently, the radio frequency tech sending data to the wireless speakers is 2.5x better than the HT-A9, so I haven’t experienced any dropouts or anything. 👍
Would this be beneficial with a VAVA projector? I'm tired of using an HD Fury to get Atmos and Dolby Digital.
You could technically use this system with a VAVA projector as long as it has an HDMI port labeled “ARC.”
But that’s limited to 7.1 surround. To truly experience Dolby Atmos and DTS:X you would need to use the projector only for visuals, and connect a Blu-ray player or streamer into the Theater Quad’s HDMI input.
This device is like, simplified the Home Theatre setup. And looks just clean in my opinion 😅
I upgrade from Ht - a5000 so far with the BRAVIA Theater Bar 9 paired up with the sa-rs5 and sa-sw5 sound stage it sounds like a 5.1.4 I barely hear Beam tweeters and new side speakers, I wish to raise the level of beam tweeters and site speakers in the Bravia app
Yeah, I’ll be addressing some of those issues in my official Theatre Quad review, too.
Very nice living room bro, love it
Thanks! 🎉
@@ealanosborne i still use sony BDV2100 for 6 years, and still amazing sound for bedroom 😊
And still relaying on a 3,5 jack cable for the connection to the tv center channel.
How does it compare to the Nakamichi Dragon with immersive Atmos sound?
I don’t know yet! 😊 Official review will be coming soon! Stay tuned!
I'm curious if the new Sony AVR's will receive an update making them compatible with the new Bravia Connect app 🤔
I know, right? Could be nice
You could try a little experiment out for me when you get your BRAVIA Theater Bar 9
try using a worse phone with the worst mic versus a phone with a good microphone to see a change to surround or change audio quality
Currently, I don’t have a phone with a bad microphone
Which speaker stands are you going to use?
I was told Sanus BSSU2 are the only compatible speaker stands. The speaker stands in a video from BlazinReviews on CZcams was filmed in a Sony Japan store. The speaker stands in the Sony store were slimmer and definitely not the Sanus BSSU2 speaker stands.
I'm ready to buy, I just need stands like you.
The Sanus stands should work, but the stands I’m using for the front speakers during testing are light stands not exactly meant to hold speakers (haha), but I reinforced them for the time being since I need them to go up pretty high. The rear surrounds are on standard Sanus steel speaker stands at ear level.
@@ealanosborne Thanks for this reply! I'll order the Sanus stands. I noticed they're one of the only companies that make stands for the weight of the speakers and cable management considerations.
i have a monster sound bar, excellent surround, your vids make me want to buy stuff i dont need, your vids are great.👍🏻
Haha, thanks? 😄🎉
Hey Ealan, have you listened to Disney+ DTS and IMAX sound? I did and it sounded really good. I listened to Ahsoka and the pod race from Phantom Menace.
I don’t have the Bravia 7 yet, so I haven’t been able to unlock that feature yet on Disney+. But with its initial launch, only 18 MCU films and Queen Rock Montreal are presented in IMAX Enhanced/DTS:X audio, so I’m thinking you were hearing Atmos with those Star Wars titles. 🤷♂️
@@ealanosborne My receiver read DTS:X
@@ealanosborne I checked the list, and all the titles were from the MCU, nothing in the Star Wars universe. Have to check out a MCU title, and hear it. The titles I listened to, although in Atmos, still sounded good!
@@ealanosborne Keep doing what you do Ealan, I’m still listening!
As a ht a9 owner you may want to put the control box in a more open visible to the speakers to get better signal and less drop outs
No drop outs yet! 🤞
The Sony Bravia Theater Quad don't have that problem in comparison to the HT-A9.
Radio output power has been enhanced by up to 2.5 times compared to the previous model. Plus, an all-new switchable dual antenna and frequency hopping system ensures more stable communication between control box and wireless speakers
Isn't necessary on the new version. They've sorted all that side out. Mines hidden in a cupboard, with a router, Zidoo Z9X, Nvidia Shield, various other devices and absolutely no issues or dropouts whatsoever.
If you can please try Jumanji (the first Rock version not the sequel). When they lose a life and regen from the sky, the Atmos should sound like they are regenerating above you.
Create a job once again do you think I should trade in my AMBEO MAX and get this one? 😎👍🏻 or get the dragon? 🐉
Not sure yet! I’m gonna test it in my living room and theater to see how it does in different scenarios. Stay tuned!
@@ealanosborne ok thanks and I picked up a Panasonic Blue-ray too.
I can’t wait intel your review.😎👍🏻
Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome, Craig! 🎉
TVs mounted that high should be criminal, especially without a mount to drop it down during use.
when you do a full review on the quad, will you be comparing it to the dragon?
I’ll mention it, yeah. 👍
I went to the Sony store and did a review this on my channel 👈🏻
I’d buy one, but already have the HT-A9 and love it, not much difference honestly. Just a few little improvements.
Both systems sound amazing!
That hdmi cable is most premium not a normal, its 40GB supports 2.1. Earc.
Can you let us know if this is any good at low to medium volume as most reviewers do not mention this. Majority of the time it will be used at these levels when have neighbours!
Yeah! I'll include that in my script. :)
Did the HT-A9 have side firing drivers? I'm curious to why this doesn't have them. Maybe it isn't needed
According to this promo video below 👇 in the first few seconds it doesn’t look like it has side firing drivers. Just front firing and upward firing.
czcams.com/video/cfCMq9SVoI0/video.htmlsi=NSqLcrEUotzxzTx5
@@ealanosborne gotcha. maybe that's something they can look into doing on the next version
Imagine if they would llet you add the HT-7000 as a Center channel
That's a terrible living room for any sound system. The tv almost over the ceiling. But i can't wait for the full review
Yo Ealan ya livin the good life when you get SONY products for yourself like this joint. DAG I'm jealous ha ha ha ha ha lol enjoy it brotha.😊

@@michaelwyckoff7593 You too, bud! 🤘
When you really think about it, the bar for "didn't have to do anything just detected it" is ridiculously low. Shit should (mostly!) just work.
Bro finally 🙌
You’re telling me! 😄🎉
@@ealanosborne 😂😂😂
Some one let me know the sound field height settings, i am sitting at 2 feet height from floor, should i set down default or up, inset up now.
It mainly affects the phantom center channel height, so if your TV is above the front speakers (like my setup), set it to high. If TV is basically in line with the speakers, keep it at default.
@@ealanosborne it lifts the entire sound bubble. Not only dialogue, My tv and fronts rests in same tv table. The center of hta9 is at bottom end of the tv, so that does needs to be lifted??? Am getting lot of sounds ever before.while watching earthsounds in appletv+.
@@balacisco No, I don’t think you need to life it in your case. My TV is a couple feet higher than the speakers, so that’s why I set it to “high.”
@@ealanosborne but inset it to high, i am more satisfied am getting more accurate sounds tested phantom menace race itbwas wonderful, but no effect in default position i mean overhead, earthsounds is beautiful, ford vs Ferrari also realy fantastic.
Not sure, my ears are 3.5 feet from ground, speakers are 2.5 feet, center of the tv screen 3.5 feet.some lifting helping this,
And another thing is when hearing songs itbseems more live if i normally put volume 40 in default mode.now am just setting it as 30 in high settings.
Whatever it is lets test how it goes
Why is it in any high end product they issue with a cheap remote control looks like your going to need a lot of power sockets
Try the theater quad in the sony shop not that great the vocal sounds like coming from the left speaker not like sony ht a9 vocal sounds center and seems ht a9 sounds better too..
With the new quad coming out. Will Sony have a software update for the HT-A9 ?
What would be expecting from an HT-A9 software update?
@@ealanosborne from Sony some bug fixes. Having some 360 surround problems. Having to reset a lot. Other than that love the system.
@@greggchandler6591 Huh, interesting! It is possible a firmware update is coming up soon. 🤷♂️

@@greggchandler6591 Thank you! 🎉
It does seem like a big improvement that the power cords are detachable where before there were not preventing placement since people couldn't just get longer cords.
Exactly! Detachable power cords are a must in my book, no matter the product.
But they were detachable on the ht-a9, I replaced the bundled leads for longer ones on mine.
I got my Sony Bravia Theater Quads and Sony SW-5 subwoofer connected to my 83 inch Sony OLED. In my opinion, it's aight after watching a little of Top Gun and Avatar 2. I'm coming from a ZVOX Soundbase. I guess I was expecting my socks to be blown off for $2.8K.
I'm an idiot. When I did the optimization test. I had my speakers on stands in the wrong spots. I didn't realize where you're supposed to place the speakers in your living room are indicated on the bottom of the speakers.
Yep! I pointed that out in the unboxing, but in the end, even I forgot about that detail and placed 2 of the speakers in the wrong place initially 😂 It happens!
@@ealanosborne Lol. How did I miss that important part of your video about the speaker locations? I must be bringing my abandoned one minute Tik Tok attention span over to CZcams.
I noticed some complaints about the hub for the quads. Basically, people can't see any changes they make to the quads unless they use the Bravia app. I don't have that problem because I have a Sony tv. Any volume or changes to settings can be seen on the tv.
@@Slick1020 Yeah, true. I have a Samsung TV and it’s annoying when I can’t see the actual volume number when turning it up and down. It shows that I’m changing the volume, but no specifics. And the control box is out of sight and has minimal text displayed on the front anyway. Wish it wasn’t just Sony TVs that displayed all that info on screen. Ah well.
I'm not sure why Disney is your go-to for the streaming demos but you are using Sony speakers and you are using a Samsung OLED, did you know you can use the Sony pictures core app to get the higher bit rate and the better picture quality? Maybe it's because you have children and your children use Disney as their app to watch movies on? But regardless that Sony app has pretty much better everything regarding streaming quality and sound quality. Anyway something to consider have a good day love your videos. You're like the Doctor Berg of audio channels.
Disney plus actually has decent audio when it comes to streaming compared to the other services
I’ll definitely subscribe to the Sony Pictures Core app once I get the Bravia 7 in my theater. But for now, I have no way of accessing it because I don’t have a PS5 either. Hopefully soon, though!
Cool wich tv brand is that 👌🏻 😮
Samsung The Frame. 🎉
No Sub bundled ?!?! Moral equivalent of Audio Visual Shrinkflation , apparently ?!?! Thanx !!!
Can I use a ethernet cable instead of a wireless connection
For the Internet connection, yes. It has an Ethernet port. But the speakers themselves still receive a wireless signal from the control box.
@ealanosborne I'm converting my garage into a movie room but can't get wireless I can only run a ethernet cable so need something that can work using that
@@leeg71lg Yeah, as far as having that internet connection to be able to watch TV shows and movies via streaming, connecting your Ethernet cable to the control box will work, as opposed to connecting via Wi-Fi
.... All respects for Asimov. =)
The calibration part was nice. =)
Heh heh, you’re welcome! 😉
How long until the full review :)?
I’m trying for this Friday… 🤞🤞
@@ealanosborne Awesome, shall look forward to it.
It would have been much better if Sony had made Center hoper instead of buying it from the Center channel TV
Very similar to how to set up a Sonos system..
Very true!
I got my new BRAVIA Theater Bar 9 sound bar I don’t like about the design is no protection for the tweeters speakers. Specially, when you handle it. Or have a cat or a child like to touch everything
Oh interesting. I think I’m also getting one in for review soon? I hope so! 🤞
Sony gives me a new fear When I handle the soundbar, I get a phobia of damaging the tweeters when handling the sound bar
I thought you are rich but i can't able to buy this product, i have only buy this in my dream
I wish the speakers were truly wireless. Just keep them where you like and they will automatically pair and they just run on a few batteries.
Me too. I wouldn’t mind plugging them in overnight to charge, if that were the case. 👍
Swishy bit of kit right there.
For people who think Sony didn't address the drop out issues for this new model. "Radio output power has been enhanced by up to 2.5 times compared to the previous model. Plus, an all-new switchable dual antenna and frequency hopping system ensures more stable communication between control box and wireless speakers."
Whoa, nice! Thanks for that tidbit! 🤘
@@ealanosborne Yeah, I saw someone in the comments tell you to be careful because of the issues with the HT-A9s. You told them you haven't had any issues, which is great!
I've been waiting 2 years for Sony to create a successor to the HT-A9s. I was not going to be their guinea pig. I have no complaints about how these speakers look either. I would prefer black though. Can't wait for your full review.
Note to self- pull out sub and then cut straps 😂.
Noted! 😉 Although as I mentioned, I knew I’d be fine since it wasn’t a particularly heavy sub. But yes, normally I’d use the straps to pull it out. 😄
@@ealanosborne Just being funny! Well I went and did it- ordered Theater Quad and SW-5 sub! Put my "Ultimate" Sonos Arc system up on market place.. Gerry
We dont mind the odd speaker placements. There are a lor of viewers that dont have dedicated cinema rooms , and try to manage in a living room.
I mean, yeah, that’s Sony’s whole idea behind 360 Spatial Sound Mapping since most living rooms aren’t ideal for exact speaker placement. 👍
I would be worried those things would vibrate off of the fireplace!😳😬
Nah. They’re stable. And I’d hear any vibrations or rumblings if what I was watching/listening to caused the speakers to move. 👍
I hate the internet connectivity and app requirements and user account requirements for these products. Its a loudspeaker not a PC. Just feels wrong.
I hope you didn't start your review just yet, but what the deal, with the giraffe ears levels front speakers 😅, don't think you will be able to get the full experience that way,
Don't get me started on the TV height 😂
He's talking about ear level, how about eye level 😅. They must be watching while standing. Lol
I do not like you have your tv hanging so high above the fireplace.
