Note: Sony BVM monitor does 4K nits, Bravia 9 does not. Also, We put pricing info in the description! Might ⊠change the conversation, and maybe not a little bit. Let me know what you think!!!
Changes is a lot. The prices are ridiculous. Shouldnât OLED and Mini LED prices be going down? This is insane
@@dtwerky_live Street prices will likely be lower right off the bat, and then drop further in coming months. But TV prices are going up across all brands. Inflation, supply chain, import taxes; logistics, etc.
@@Caleb_Denisonhopefully so. Samsungâs new line has insane prices too. And those are on the market already
Wow, considering the 8 is a repackaged A80L, I'm glad I just got my 77" last month for almost half the price. And I'm talking retail from Sony, not some lightning sale.
I think now I'm looking forward to your review of the Hisense U8N 85" even more than before! When are we going to see it? đ
I just got a new TV 3 months ago. I shouldn't be watching these videos!
Assuming any "planned obsolescence" (like ATSC or HDMI standards) don't get you, I hope you never need to "updated" it. đ€«
You should be watching it! Just keep that credit card in the pocket đ
typical case of 'the grass seems always greener on the other side'
@@theonceandfuture2610Only problem with that idea is, sooner or later the bank and credit card people will wont some actual _money!_
lol..
Sony finally figured out TV naming.
I am sure that in a couple of years they will make a mess with naming, when they will need to insert some models in betweenđ€
Name yes tech. No 8k ability look like being neglected for gamers who use gaming pc or consoles example Samsung not only is there 8k tv cutting edge all it hardware on outside hence one connect tech. No need worry about 5 years from now if some reason tv start to glitch.
â@@mikejohnson83918k is a gimmick with no content, way too expensive for performance budgets and storage on gaming devices.
Funny because I miss the old naming and the 3-8 just makes me more confused
X series LCD A OLED ones with funny letters Micro LED TVs
That new naming scheme is sooooo easy and good. Thank you!
Maybe but it makes it difficult to compare to last years models.
And next year it won't be
Will probably still need to rely on a model number to know which year the TV came out. But at least the new naming helps distinguish the class of tv.
But their naming scheme was literally the industry standard for years back since the lcd days why would they change it now
LOL ITS NOT STUPID SHIT
I can already tell everyone (including myself) is going to want a Bravia 9 vs Bravia 7 video, to see just how much better (or not) the new backlight system works.
Spoilers. The bravia 9 will be somewhat better, but not for the price
The new naming will be easier for me to explain to customers. Odd numbers are LED. The only even number is OLED, and of course the left over model from last year A95L.
Great overview! Love your analysis on these new TVs! Just curious, will Sony continue to develop a newer version of Z9K 8K HRD Mini LED TV this or next year? Thank you!
Would love to know more about the reflection handling of those TVs as my living room is really bright
I may have to splurge for the BRAVIA 9. That thing looks next level.
I'm doing it!!
What is known about the pricing for carry-over models? e.g. A95L?
Look forward to the reviews of these new line ups. I have an LG C3 OLED.... that mini LED has to be one hell of a picture.
Thanks Caleb! Awesome videos as always. Do you think it's a good point for me to hold off on puttig the trigger on A95L and get the Bravia 9? Would Bravia 9 push the black level close to A95L? Thanks!
This is the year of Mini LCD TVs! I like to see who has best LCD in the market with a shoot outđź
super exciting stuff! I'll probably still pick up the Sony A95L once it goes on sale, because it'll still be an insanely good TV 5 years from now.
Itâs amazing man. Picture quality bar none. I was going to wait to see if Sony would up their QD game but they went the mini LED way.
Providing the screen doesn't die on you after 3yrs, like my previous Sony Bravia did!
@@rollyunicorn I sure hope not lol
It will not be insanely good in 5 years no I have a 2 3 year old Sony X950H 49 inch and 65 inch don't get me wrong it's still a very good especially the 49-inch version probably not a better 49-inch TV ever made but no TV will still be considered amazing in 5 years in this market
where we're headed đ€·
@@marcoechavarria7274 Sony has a QD-OLED though
will we have more than 2 ports that are 4k120 like LG oleds have done for years?
Hey Caleb, is the granular dimming control also on the Bravia 7 or only on the Bravia 9?
The Problem is...even the best TV can't fix the lack of watchable movies or series đ
đŻ
Almost every show and movie made since COVID is shot in 4K Dolby Vision or HDR10+⊠what are you talking about?
Well yeah, theres been a major lack of flagship TV shows nowadays. The good thing is the processing is in the TV so even if you watch youtube or tiktok on your tv it won't look bad
Still only two 4k/120hz ports :(
No love for the 42" Oled//mini led
Maybe the InZone line will have something for gamers in monitor size.
The A90K will still be available in 42" and 48" for 2024 :)
âââ@@paskelrey I would know. I've been using the 42" A90K since it launched. The A90K is the reason I haven't updated to one of those new 32" OLED monitors from Asus, MSI and others. I also own the 48" model, purchased after my 900E bite the dust. I like the brightness of mini-led. The A90K gets sufficiently bright. But there is room for improvement.
In 42" I'd just go with the LG C4 at this point.
This is very interesting, can't wait for the full reviews. Thanks!
I, for one, do like the new simplified Sony naming scheme. The Bravia 9 is certainly on my shortlist next to the LG G4 and the Sony A95L. Great video, as always, Caleb. Thank you.
Yes names are now much better.. especially if we pair them with year of release so consumers know.
I'm all over that bravia 9 and quad theater.
75 inch will set you back $5999.

i watch the sony flagship tv reviews and get hyped and end up buying lg affordable midrange tvs đą
In the market for a A95L so I'm glad you covered that question at the end. Waiting for the 55" to go back down to the $2500 price it was at when I wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger!
Is all new remote chargable via usb ? What do you perfer, oled vs mini oled
How will the Bravia 7 compare to the X95L? is it a repackaged version of that?
It would be safe to assume, just with their newer calibration features
I think while the new model identification is simple it does not tell us consumers what type of screen or how new the model is. I rather the original alphabetical /numerical identification
Last years QD-Oled made me not thirsty for A new One this year.
Thats new for me.
Just bought the A95L recently and have no regrets whatsoever. Also glad to know it won't be replaced with a newer version anytime soon. Cant beat Sony's picture quality.
In your experience how do you feel it compares of lg oled line, samsung qd oled, or sony mini led line? Is it a really noticable difference or is it just like a potatoes pot-tato thing?
A95L or Bravia 9? Which one to get? Thanks for the great videos!
In the Sony Q&A they stated that the A95L is here to stay for 2024 and they also said and I quote âthe A95L is way ahead of its timeâ đđ
@@Jordanfiend361 Only if you have a light controlled room. It's not a great TV for the average living room because it doesn't get very bright.
A95L : Dark Room
Bravia 9 : Bright Room
Any idea on I/o and refresh rates of the panel on the Bravia 9?
2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports. 120Hz

Very much a fan of the simpler names for the 2024 TVs and Audio products. I'm definitely eyeing the 55 inch BRAVIA 7 and the Theater Bar 8 to buy this holiday season. Looking forward to your videos on the new audio products!
another great video Caleb, those Sony TVs are beautiful. now we have to see what the prices will be đ
Bravia 9 looks promising, but probably not in the price range most can afford :).
and no 65" in EU/UK. SMH!
So I guess Sony has no desire to compete in the 98" size.. So anyone wanting a larger TV then 85 has to go elsewhere... Seems dumb to me. Larger TVs sales are growing..
@@VinodBaliga Mental - you would imagine that 65" is the default size for this sort of product.
4 grand for 75 inch wow
@@deanbbnsida223 Just saw it online. That's just at my max price range. So the bravia 9, 75 inch is a contender to buy around black friday. Gonna watch the reviews in the next weeks.
New Model names a great!
Now I'm most interested in how much or little the 9 is worse than the A95L in Sci-Fi content at night!? Or another great "OLED scene" to test is from Frozen 2, where Elza sings against pitch black background and paints with sparkles in the dark.
Great update! Would you say that the Bravia 7 is the same performance as the X95L or somewhere between the X93L and X95L? I was thinking/hoping the Bravia 7 is essentially an X95L with new Pentonic 1000 SOC. What do you think?
I was wondering the same thing too but I think he said in the video its comparable to the 90L which kinda bummed me out a bit.
Hey Caleb, great vid. I heard some BS that the Bravia was going to get a "special" feed from Amazon, that will automagicly
calabrate the TV...lol some ppl are full of it !!!
Keep up the good work mate
Yes. I like the Simplicity.
My XH559505 just broke unfortunately (loved that tv) yesterday I had the X95L mini led delivered and itâs outstanding quality! Iâm blown away by its picture. And with a 5 year warranty from Sony.
How do you feel it compares to the a95l? Since sony going all in on mini led you think it better to wait for update on x93l/x95l?
@@jimjones5368 I canât compare Iâve never owned OLED, I donât like the idea of having to mother them for risk of burn in. But the x95l was by far the best looking tv I went and viewed in my opinion
Finally easy to understand model numbers!!!! All manufacturers should do this!!!
Thank you Caleb, I was waiting on this Sony extravaganza! I'm a die-hard Sony fan and I can't wait to hear your reviews on those new Bravia TVs.
Prices got inflated too high this year. If the Bravia 7 is the equivalent of the X90 then the price of the 75 inch went up 1200 bucks. Based on the specs, it certainly is most in line with the X90. The X90 replacement was what I was looking for but not at their insane suggested retail price. TCL or Hisense will likely have a very good TV at a much more reasonable price.
First I hope you're not comparing X90L current prices vs new launch prices. The X90L has dropped likely 20-25% in price since launch.
Also, the Bravia 7 is a substantial upgrade over X90L. It's more or less an X95L so the pricing is really good. The prices of a Bravia 7 vs TCL and Hisense isn't going to be far off. But the processing of the Bravia 7 will be far better, just like the X90L was far better BUT it lacked in blooming. Now they fixed that . Besides the X90L will continue to be sold.
As for Bravia 9 prices, they are basically in line with X95L prices.
So do we just add 3 zeros to each model number for pricing?? đ
85 inch Bravia 9 is listed for $5,599 on their website. I'm shocked. I was about to pull the trigger on the $8K Samsung and figured this would be close in price.
Oh, come on! If _poor people_ can afford Mercedes and Porshe, you can certainly afford a measly $8K _television set_ to waste part of your life on.
Personally, I'd rather take the money and go on a vacation somewhere to try and build some _real_ memories (& maybe burn a few calories). But hey! You do you.
Either way, it's not like Google, Microsoft, Apple or _Sony_ won't be (spying &) watching _you_ or anything. (Not like you really have a _choice,_ is it?) đđ€š
@@user-mr9yy3yf9q yeah at $5600 Im buying the Series 9 for sure. I thought it was going to be like 8500. Was going into today thinking Id be buying a x93l for about 3800. Im actually stoked. Now when is this thing going to be available to buy because I am ready right now for it! lol
â@@WXSEDYHe's not eating ramen noodles to afford it lol. $8k isn't a lot to some people. I'm sure anyone buying am $8k tv, can afford to go on vacations too.
@@micker9830Just imagine how much _better_ your vacation could be if you had an _extra_ $8K! Don't you see? It isn't about _affording_ it or or not -- it's about _SPENDING_ it and _WASTING_ it!
For crying out loud! You want to talk about _waste?_ Take a look at your life if a giant TV is all you _do!_ Maybe not _you_ but it's hard to ignore what some people do, sitting there for hours on end watching all the pretty colors and the latest and greatest crap from some glowing _box_ on their wall. Better than a new phone, I suppose. Kinda sad, really.
I think what annoys me is how "they" (companies like Sony) would rather watch _YOU_ doing your thing, sitting there being a couch potato. It's beyond sad, when I'm reminded of that little piece of the puzzle.
Had Sony TVs for 30 years. Just got a Philips Ambilight and it blows all my old TVs away. Not bothered about a slightly better screen without Ambilight. Going to be an interesting video to watchâŠ
Watching this thinking to replace my 65Z9D. But then again watched a movie and thought the Z9D still has life.
Probably when the A95L successor comes up in 2025, it will be called Bravia 10. A 10/10.
Not the Z9K successor? What happens to the Z-series then?
8K was dead. Its will back when the 8K content become standard
â@@whophd8K content is non existent.
Z series is a waste of money until a lot of 8K content finally gets released.
There will always be a better model around the corner.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M I think you're missing my point. I have an old Z-series from the 4K days and have been following the new Z-series models. They don't get updated often, but where does it go now? (Also, I do use an 8K TV with 8K content every day, but let's not worry about that ⊠it's a Samsung but I wish it was a Sony)
One more thing: Watching 4K on an 8K screen, is the bee's nuts. It was the same for HD on a 4KTV and SD on an HDTV. But back to my question: What do they call the Z-series now, whether it's 8K or whatever?
Iâm a die hard OLED. My LG-C1 OLED is still going strong with no issues and steady updates. I also game on it for hours at a time. Zero issues with the TV to this day. My next TV will be another OLED. Hail to the king of tvâs.
same here bro....MY c1 has zero burn in even after 6000+ hour and the picture still looks like I got it when it was new...
I am also going for oled on my next buy but that might be another 2-3 years. The burn in has to be so bad I have to notice it constantly in every color than I might upgrade the TV.
I also have a C1 and it is running strong. I am really curious about the G4 models this year. Curious to know how good the new processors are in real world application.
With how good the picture quality is for the Bravia 9, how is the motion handling? That seems to be the only thing holding it back as an led tv against oled at the moment.
Thanks for the great review. So when does the new lineup hit the stores? I'm curious what the cost difference will be for last years XR series compared to the new series.
âWell that is up in the airâ == Caleb knowâs thereâs an OLED update coming later this year.
Itâs so frustrating they donât release the info all at once
Nope. They'll simply do another A90J move here (where the flagship stays for an additional year as top).
I am comfortable with that.. simply because I wouldn't be able to afford a new flagship if there would be one!
I want to be optimistic because QD-OLED seemed like the TV technology end game Iâve been hoping for since flat screens first popped in the seen in the late 90s. But if the cost to performance ratio isnât there, and nearly all of the market is buying LGâs WOLEDs instead of Samsungâs QD-OLEDs then it doesnât bode well for its future.
â@@crelliseng1. No such thing as end game when it comes to TV technology. Not even Micro LED will become that. There's always something better around the corner.
2. You get what you pay for. You're delusional if you're expecting price to performance competition from Sony. They're not trying to be like Hisense or TCL. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
@@PSYCHOV3N0M not Sony, QD-OLED in general. Sony uses Samsung panels as Samsung is the only manufacturer of QD-OLED panels. LG is the only manufacturer of WOLED panels. Sonyâs lower end OLEDs that use WOLED panels are supplied by LG.
The only two companies that sell QD-OLED TVs are Samsung and Sony. Nearly all other brands use LGâs panels. LG display is continuing to invest in WOLED innovation. Samsung is seemingly focusing on mini LEDs. Unless Samsung can make the cost of the QDOLED panels cheap enough to keep using them in their cheaper TVs⊠that technology likely wonât last very long since everyone else is choosing to buy their oled panels from LG instead. Yeah, A90K carries over for 2024, so it's still current and the best TV Sony offers in that size class.
They made the new 90 series a MINI LED? HOLY CRAP
Not really, the X90L is getting carried over, and the Bravia 7 at 65â is $2300
It's actually the successor to the X93 not X90
@@notliosandoval not really getting âcarried overâ so much as it will continue to sell until stock runs out. Sony didnât indicate a carry over for that model as it did for the A95L
Iâm glad Iâm in the market for a new Sony tv! I think the simplicity of the names is way more appealing in my opinion.
11:02 I think itâs great! Easy to remember and to understand. Pretty awesome TV Bravia 9!
Wish the Bravia 7 would include 43 and 50 inch variants. Also, why isn't the Bravia 3 offered in 120Hz like the current X85K?
Hope the 3 is at least sufficiently brighter
@@winwincsk I can't really think of a compelling reason to buy a Bravia 3 unless you want a 2024 Sony TV smaller than 55 inches. In fact, Sony isn't even going to offer the Bravia 3 in Europe.
So they're keeping the x90L this year to take over the x85k. So that will be the "new" entry level 120Hz model. Bravia 3 collapses x80k and the X77L if ur in NA into one by retains the price point of the x77L. Probably to continue to take sales from Samsung CU7000/8000 series and complete with the LG UQ series at that price point.
@@alexr958 Only problem is that the X90L doesn't come in 43 and 50 inch like the X85K does. At this point, I'm probably the most excited about the Bravia 7 strictly from a video gaming perspective. I can't wait to see it in person.

@@peterjaimes8776 In my real world the CX I own developed burn-in after only 3 years of use and LG was no where to be found. So, for me it was a huge upgrade. Burn in is no longer an issue for me now.
I like the new model names, I think itâs more simplified than last yearâs and I appreciate that.
I just wish the Bravia 7 was like $1500 and then I think it would be such a steal.
I †the new nomenclature, and while I commiserate with you the mixing of platforms, I ultimately like it better. The people to whom it matters will always know what is and those that dont will be hapoier with the simplicity (ultimately making it easier on us to recommend the TV they should buy). Kudos to both you for keeping such a good secret and Sony for leading the industry once more, making me want to buy one because it is truely (at least for now) the best!
Seems like the A95L is still the way to go.
If they can ever get the 77" panels. I gave up after waiting several months.
@@rashakikizer9889 Same, ended up going with the LG C4 after Sony held on too long to reveal these '24 models while keeping the A95L a tough find
Yeah I was saying this in another video's comments. While I'm sure the 9 will be probably the best looking mini LED we've seen to date, I don't suspect it'll overall "top" any of the QD-OLED models currently available or new ones coming in 2024.
My a95l is jaw dropping, just wished it came in 80+.
â@@rashakikizer9889B&H has the 77-inch A95L in stock right now.
Very exciting news! Thanks for another great video Caleb.
I just got a Sony 77" A80L 5 months ago in November why am I watching Sony's new lineup lol. Thank you Caleb Denison for the new product lineup.
I am skeptical about bravia 9. Will need to see reviews after it comes out.
I'm more interested in the HT-A9 mark 2 shown throughout this video!
$1500
More on that coming soon
Same here kinda wish they made a new sub tho with more impact and maybe go the sonos route we're you can either add a sub or keep adding to the set up as time goes only reason still didnt purchase hta9
$2400 is a lot for it if it doesn't even include a sub. And still only 1 HDMI port. Kind of seems like a swing and a miss in those areas. Yeah a new sub would have been nice!
And still no dedicated center channel
The new naming scheme is fine. What I care about is price and availability. I was trying to buy a 77" A95L and it just wasn't available. Maybe a 85" BRAVIA 9??
The naming scheme is great until you ask, "What will next year's models be called?" Bravia 9a? They should have gone with something like 13, 17, 18, and 19. That way next year you'd do 23, 27, 28, and 29, and people will easily be able to tell which one's the newer model.
@@HspncAt7heDiscoBravia 9a sounds way better than Bravia 19/29. Also they would eventually get to 69 lmfao. Basically I couldnât disagree more.
Thank you! Tv series is harder to differentiate than anything
I would love to know if the did anything around the reflection based on Samsung's S95D series anti-glare.
Unless Sony has stopped charging 50% more than competitors for an equivalent product, they haven't changed anything
Exactly, enough of the sony hype. the competition shown how much sony products are wayy overpriced
@@user-vn6ol1jn9l Their upscaling chips etc are superior but that difference isn't equivalent to the price difference.
You are right. They are still ahead of everyone else, hence the price difference.
â@bobanstojanovic6517 No they are not, they are just very good at marketing.
I too believe Roku is just as good as Sony, and every other brand
That Bravia 9 in a 42â model would be insane.
From your keyboard to Sony's ears.
Agreed!
id buy one in a heartbeat
Why a baby tv
I agree, while I prefer slightly bigger, there are a lot of people that either donât have the space or donât want the biggest screen on the market. Sony would do well to offer their top of the line tech in smaller screens.
I've been an LG fan for the last 10 years but considering the strides Sony has been making in the mini light lineup this year I might just jump the LG ship and book a cruise on a Sony voyage. I'll wait for actual sets to arrive for review though. As always, thanks Caleb for keeping things interesting.
As someone with a six-year-old 55" Sony with 48 dimming zones, that Bravia 7 65" is looking preeeetty good for a Black Friday splurge later this year.
Well that settles that looks like LG G4 gets my purchase.
Why no 55 inch for Bravia 9?
Because they don't think that people should be able to afford the top end model
That sucks. I was looking forward to the Bravia 9, 55" is the max I can comfortably fit in my room and I need to replace my dying TCL. ( I'm not going back to OLED)
@@AntonioCunningham Bravia 7! That's what I'm getting. I also want a 55" and wished the X93L had a 55".. well here it is but even better. I'm moving from my old plasma to miniLED backlit LCD. LCD tech finally caught up and is surpassing OLED. Just in time for me. Why aren't you going back to OLED? Burn in? Bright room?
lol@lcd tech is surpassing oled. bull
@@Ren32 What OLED are you using with 4000nit brightness? People will be doing that soon with the Bravia 9. If that's not surpassing, not sure what your definition would be.
What panel is Bravia 8 using? LG Display's latest WOLED with MLA?
Great video Caleb! Your quick explanation of the new Mini LED tech is wife approved. Iâm hoping to get a Bravia 9 once they come out. Looking forward to your in depth review!
I think the new naming convention is a lot simpler than before. It's clean and it denotes the tiers more clearly.
I have a Sony Xperia phone. 1 is considered the flagship and 10 is the budget. In that context, the Bravia line going the other way around gives me a headache.
Bravia 9 65" here I come!!
Bizarrely this size will not be available in the UK and as some people have pointed out this is even more puzzling because UK living rooms are generally smaller than you find in American homes for instance. Only 75' and 85' in the BRAVIA 9.
@@user-reddev77 Guess they got to get the next larger one !
On the Bravia 9 tip, if your new to mini-led then it would be nice to get, but if you already own one it ainât worth the upgrade. Great to see the tech evolve for the better tho.
How does the new BRAVIA 9 compare to the BRAVIA A95L you were so high on?
Sony processing is worlds better than other stuff. It looks just more natural.
Keep saying that to urself
Since mini LED can never reach the contrast levels of an OLED, what is the main advantage? The additional brightness?
Additional, or even considerably more, brightness. No burn-in. Also supports larger size TVs. >75" OLED prices get pretty crazy pretty fast, and good luck going above 85".
Yeah, thatâs something important to think. I purchased an LG C3 77 and Iâm pretty happy with the overall quality on image and construction⊠I really donât think I need more brightness on the TV. For daily usage, I donât even leave the TV on maximum bright, because itâs not necessary on SDR.
When Iâm going to watch a Movie, with curtains closed and in HDR, I turn off the economy mode and the TV really shines itself. The black levels are PRETTY awesome, you cannot understand where the barrier between tv and the wall - itâs really all black. 800 nits are more than enough ton peak brightness to have a fantastic image on that.
Brightness itâs part of image quality, itâs like sound - volume itâs only one variable, more volume doesnât mean better quality - Thereâs A LOT MORE that goes inside this to evaluate âOVERALL QUALITYâ and C3 from LG is pretty decent to me - I donât think I would like to improve that, is really more than enough for me.
The same thing happened with my home theater - now I have a 5.1 floor standing 100W speakers from JAMO and a 300W sub and a Denon from 10 years ago that sounds way better than 90% of Atmos availables in market - why should I do an upgrade?
Does the Bravia 9 have an atsc 3.0 tuner?
Great video! I hope other manufacturers, both for PC monitors and TVs, adopt a simpler naming system like Sony. It makes it much easier to compare and choose models when shopping for new items in my opinion.
