This is how the Acolyte connects to the Star Wars prequel era. The characters of the prequels, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Sidious (Chancelor Palpatine), and Satine Kryze are hints to how the Jedi behave long before their time. I’m really excited for this new era. If you haven’t read the High Republic novels, check them out on audio book or pick up a book and read them.
I decided to do something different in this video by just talking to you in a conversation. I hope you enjoyed it.

If I may say so, I've been having issues with attachment as defined by the Jedi Order for years. Now, a lot of hardcore Lucas fans have thrown a lot of heat over the years because of it, but for all his greatness, his narrative isn't flawless. I always feel like Indigo Montoya when the A word comes into play in SW's, (you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means). The human psyche cannot be healthy completely devoid of attachments. Everybody screams "Anakin proves it." But no, not at all. Anakin proves just how far the Order failed by adopting such extreme policies. Case in point, Qui-Gon did his own thing and they blew his assertions of the Sith returning and as Obi-Wan bemoaned in Ep. 1, he didn't follow the dogmatic interpretation of the Code. Unfortunately, his death doomed Anakin, because being constantly pushed to choose a state of cosmic detachment is what finally made him snap. His love for his mother was considered as a step to evil by an institution where he was never fully welcomed, wanted, or trusted. That would break a lot of people! Anakin was not incapable of working for the greater good, but the Order constantly stressed sacrifice where there were other viable options. Like when Ahsoka and Barriss got in trouble on Geonosis. There was no reason to let go then, there was a viable way to do the mission and keep them alive. But once again, he was castigated for the ultimate sacrifice not being his first choice. Well, so what? It wasn't necessary then! The incident of Obi-Wan faking his death and not bothering to tell him, was again, an unnecessary blow that just reinforced a deadly psychological trap that Palps was gleefully manipulating. Had the Order not been captive to the fear that gave birth to the extreme dogma that strangled it, Darth Vader would have never immerged.

I wouldn’t say that Anakin was only ‘connected’ to Palpatine just because the option to control him didn’t come up. Palpatine was more of a father to Anakin than Obi-Wan was, and was a lot better at the (bad) parental trait of “saying things your kid *wants* to hear, not just what he *needs* to hear.”
I’d say attachment happens well before the actual *effort* of control shows up. Was Anakin not attached to Padmé until they started seeing things differently and you see him try to assert control over one of the most stubborn politicians in the galaxy? Nah, he was *attached* at first sight. But the attachment didn’t cause problems until Rush Clovis showed up…and then, obviously, when the visions of her dying in childbirth start appearing.
Similarly, I’d argue Anakin is absolutely attached to Palpatine, it just doesn’t cause any problems until Darth Vader is contemplating the reality that Sidious is the only attachment he has left in the galaxy, so he might as well stay on the dark side even though he realizes how completely Palpatine brainwashed and manipulated him.

SW fanatic, I like that you are trying something new, and I am only trying to give positive criticism. with that being said I don't mind you showing face at all, in fact I support it, however you need to work on your camera angles. that being said I like the video editing and cutaways you always do. I find this new method is distracting to what you are saying. I really couldn't follow the video at all.

@@StarWarsFanaticnot even worth engaging. They were yelling and screaming about the prequels and how they ruined Star Wars 20 plus years ago. The same people that literally wanted to sue Lucas.
