My grandfather was one of the main supervisors on the building of the Hoover Dam. He kept a daily journal with regard to it. It is affectionately referred to within the family as "That Dam Story" .... lol... So glad you had some family time!
Lynn, soooo cool. Stories had to be fascinating.
Very cool!!! Thx for telling us!
Arizona is beautiful the weather is warm and sunny, I wanted to visit Phoenix Arizona
Glad you went to hoover dam.
.and glad your girl did well in the meet God bless all of you there and on your journey back to alaska
Olivia’s sweet face when she saw daddy was priceless.
I just loved her precious little smile when she saw daddy and the kids And the pup 😂💝
Definitely close.
I always said, "Only if heaven had a phone, I would be calling my parents everyday." Miss them both dearly.
I feel the same way ❣️🙏🏾💐
I would keep my line to heaven busy. Just lost mom this Christmas and dad over 18 yrs ago. Wouldn't you just love to hear Moses, Abraham, and Noah tell us stories? Even Mary telling us about Jesus growing up. Have a good day. 💙🙏💙
🙏🏻😔prayers for you!
I get you. Lost my daddy three years ago. I miss him so much! 😔
I feel the same way. I lost my dad in 77, mom in 95 and my brother in 2016. It's hard. My grown kids are spread out from Tampa Fl, Atlanta Ga to Richmond Va. I still have a sister and brother here near Jacksonville Fl. Extended family members are all over the USA. We get together in July for a reunion every year. Family is important to me.
Livi’s face when she saw Bert is priceless! She is daddy’s girl!
Garrett's response when you asked him if the house was kept clean made me laugh.
Growing up, the whole family was close. We used to have huge get togethers. I lost my mom 25 yrs ago to cancer, lost my brother 13 yrs ago to suicide and lost my dad 2 yrs ago to a sudden illness. I live in Northern Arizona and my extended family are all in California. We keep in touch but we are no longer close. I’ve resigned myself to being alone when my husband passes away. I’m strong so I know all will be ok.
I'm sorry for your loss I know being close to a family brings memories and happiness
I love that even though Jess and her sister are not close in age, their babies are so close in age! ❤️
Speaking of family, I never see you guys with Jessica ( Bert's sister). Those two was so stinking funny together!!! Yes. We do notice these things.
Jessica V's family is so much down to earth and so much nicer there is no favouritism with the kids and her husband does not preach and she does not flog china making stuff off to sell
Plus the violets are not supposed to record the somers but Bert and Jessica film whatever they want. We do notice you all are not close or speaking. I prefer the violets because they are down to earth and not fake.
Olivia is such a happy baby!!
Livvie is growing up already ! So glad you got to spend time with your family Jessica . Your brother running with the car was hilarious
Growing up in the military, our family was not close. Unfortunately, I have lost my spouse, my parents, two sisters, and a brother! Now my remaining sister and I realize the importance of family and try to talk once a week and visit once a year. Family is everything!
My siblings are spread out though out the US we all maintain a family ties. The last two weeks have been challenging with 2 of my 5 sisters in the hospital … one in New York and the other in California. Prayers would be appreciated.
Definitely will pray for your sisters Lori!
Prayers for your sisters.
Will definitely be praying for you all. 💙🙏💙
Olivia was so happy to see her daddy, so cute. 🥰
Olivia so happy to see her daddy ❤just love her precious little smile ❤
Olivia's face was a picture when she saw her daddy, melts my heart 💖 So glad you had a lovely time with your Arizona family. Safely back home with your Alaskan family - they really missed you! 💖💖💖
Jessica, Newsflash, this is normal! What a great getawy trip. Just what you girls needed in the middle of the winter. Oliva's reaction to seeing Dad was priceless.
That baby 👶 is so so happy ! She knows she’s got a great home with people whom love her !
Bert and Jessica, YOU both are so blessed to have GREAT families! Both of your parents are AWESOME people who raised great loving and Caring kids! My family lives far from me and some are living to infinity and beyond. In other words heaven. I will see them all again some day. Beautiful family you have and may God continue to bless you all! 🙏❤️
What fun seeing nana and the family. Love the Somers.
My family and I lived in Alaska for 15 years (Alakanuk, North Pole and Two Rivers). While living there, my Dad passed away in Virginia. That was tough. Ten years later, my Mom had open heart surgery. At that point, it was time to move back to Virginia. Mom is doing good and I love my time with her. She is 85 now. However, there are days I miss Alaska. I enjoy watching your videos and seeing our old stomping grounds.
When I went to Hoover Dam the underground elevator was still up and running. Being a copper miner/safety inspector I was astounded at the amount of people they allowed on it at a time. Packed like sardines… I knew that wasn’t safe, lol.
I was in that elevator and it was terrifying! Couldn't wait to get out of there!
My mom and I got stuck in an elevator once with a guy. It took about 30 min to get it started again. I thought the guy was going to have a break down. 😂 It scared him so bad. 😆
My parents are in heaven! Miss them!
Originally from England 🇬🇧 lived in America for 37 years, sisters and family live in England we settled in Colorado for the last 28 years, distance is good!
We moved 1000 miles away from our family and it's so lonely without them. :(
All my family lives in different states. I wish we could get together more often.
My first 4 years of marriage we were in Flagstaff AZ, my mother fell incredibly ill and we moved back to Gilbert. The 4 years on our own forced us to grow and communicate in ways i don’t know we could’ve with our parents near. We’ve been back 3 years. And welcomed our first child the week before my mother passed. Now i live across the road from my father. My mother passed last year and I am grateful for the years I did live close. I’m pregnant with our second and having my father near… is something i can’t put a price on. I think in the early years, you need the space, but after you get your bearings, living close is a blessing.
Miss you all together so glad you are home together 🙏🏻☮️✝️❤️💜❤️🩹💕💗🌷🌹🥰🥰🥰🥰
My grandpa also worked building the Hoover Dam! My family was one of the early settlers in Mesa..the Sossman's (Sossman Rd)..and farmers in Casa Grande in 1930's...we used to live in Gilbert, now we live in cold country..Prescott area...LOVE your channel😀
Baby girl looked so happy to see her dad and sister, just the greatest smiles for them
We use to spend some of our summers in Casa Grand🤷♀️. A desert rat which is what they used calls us back in the day. I was born in a little city called Avondale,. Raised there till I was 20 years old, never lived anywhere else. My husband was in the military and got transferred to small city in Illinois called Chanute Air Force Base. And I can tell you I was devastated . Glad she got to be there for her moms birthday.
Must be hard to go back to the cold and dark. I used to cry when I went back to anchorage after a hot vacation, when I lived in anchorage❤
@Dr. Christopher Johnson from British Columbia 🍁
My parents visit Hoover Dam while in America, something we won't get an opportunity now. As long as Evelyn enjoyed the meet and did her best, nobody can ask more Evelyn so well done. There's always the next meet.
OMG it's great seeing Casa Grande again. It's been 15 years since I've been back to my hometown. I forgot about CG mountain. Glad everyone made it safely back to Alaska. Thanks for the memories
I lived close to my family. The problem is all my family has passed away. I'm the only one in my family still kicking. I lost my husband first from cancer. Then my family started to pass away and I also lost my 2 best friends. So I can tell you loneliness hits me hard. So enjoy your family and friends because you don't know what tomorrow brings. God Bless you and your families.
Hi, Aussie here, yes we've driven across the dam in 2008! The new bridge was partly built back then. 31C here today, cloudy and humid. Too hot for vegie gardening, so I'm catching up on reading and craft work in the air conditioning! Cheers.
So happy you got to spend time with your family Jessica!! Baby Livi sure knows who her daddy is☺️❤️ Glad everything went well at home and get some rest. Blessings 🙏
Happy Birthday to your Mom! Such great adventures and time with your family. Love it.
Unfortunately i had the opposite my experience with in laws was awful. They literally lived next door and distance is a good thing.
I only wish I could have a family like yours so very nice to see happy people
My in laws live in a different country.. so I feel great about that since they don't like me or my kids.
@@stacycamacho59 same here!! We had to move across the country to get away from them, best thing we ever did 26 yrs ago..made our marriage so much stronger.. it's actually very sad, I always wanted nice in-laws, but it's not meant to be😪 very toxic, almost had a nervous breakdown!
Glad you caught up with your family but it’s great to see you all home safe ❤ 16:38
❤ when families live in different states it’s super important to get together 1-2x per year … keep the visits constant ❤ All my siblings and parents and majority distant family live in the same state just different towns.
Not having family is hard, especially if you are older. I haven’t had family for a long time. That’s why I enjoy watching you.
why not consider 'adopting ' a grandchild or two? A family that does not have a grandparent or a grandparent in their lives or a local one.....
Happy late Tuesday, SOMERS. I hope you’re having a good day. I’m glad you’re enjoying your vacation time in Arizona and in Las Vegas. Plus, as 2023 rolls along, we are on the road to Valentine’s Day. You SOMERS continue on staying safe. I hope you’re having a good day. Continue on your road on getting the silver play button
I am truly blessed 4 children 10 grandchildren 8 great grandchildren. We all live on the same area except one son and his wife. But they are within a days drive. When you have this you really don’t have anything to complain about.
Went with my daughter, was my gift for my 50th birthday ,it was the best gift I ever recieved.
Audrey is at the perfect age for Olivia to be “her baby”. I was around her age when my brother was born. We’re grown now, but he is definitely still “my baby”. That bond will never be broken. We had loving parents like Olivia does. It’s hard to explain, it’s deep and ever present.
So happy for y'all to get to visit with family ❣️
Glad y'all are home safely 🙏🙏✝️
Olivia has the cutest smile. Jessica, why do you all wanna scare us with talk of being normal? I tried to be normal once. It was the scariest 30 seconds of my life. LOL
I miss my family. I live in England . Mum lives in Australia with my brother, My husbands family live in Poland. My best friend in Germany. My other family in South Africa, Seychelles, Canada, UAE and the US. Its heartbreaking as we cannot afford to travel to see them. Jessica was so blessed to spend time with hers. I am so blessed to have a loving husband and son with me.
Olivia is so happy ❤️ and beautiful
i'm glad that you got to see your family
I’ve been on the Hoover dam and down inside where the turbines are it is huge to see in person. Crazy how big it is. Have a great time
We hope all of you take a nice warm family vacation together!!
Grew up in las vegas. I've toured the dam a lot. I knew in your earlier video you were in Vegas just by the mountains. And I now live in Arizona! Love yalls videos!
Unfortunately my family has been gone for decades, and I am not young, but I cope very well. So glad you will all be back together soon.
Taking the tree down never as fun as putting it up ,lol but house seems so much bigger once tree down,I'm glad you got some family time and had bday time with your mom, most my family passed away only ones left live far away , lost all my aunt's and all but one uncle lost my mom and both my brothers, they died young, it's me and my daughter pretty much, I made tacos tonight to ,that baby so cute and growing fast ,
My wife, son, and myself moved from NY to Florida almost four years ago. My wife’s dad comes down for winters outside Orlando so we see him a few times in the winter. My wife’s sister and brother are in NY and she goes up for 3 months in the summer to our camper in the northern part of NY. The move to Florida was easy for me because my family is all deceased. I’m solo in that respect. I have tons of friends who support me very well. I have my share of health issues that make it now hard for me to travel plus having no vehicle up north. Feel more comfortable being home closer to doctors in case I have issues. Enjoy life . Maybe some day the good Lord may enable me to travel and see this great country. Plus I hope he helps ny son with his mental issues.
Our oldest son lives in Las Vegas, and we always go to Hoover Dam when we visit. Our daughter has just retired from the Marines and was stationed in San Diego but now currently lives with her husband in Oregon. We had our other son live in New England so we most certainly understand distance with family, it definitely makes you realize and cherish how precious moments are. Thank you so much for sharing.
We live close and drive each other crazy!!!! But we can’t live without each other.
My mom, siblings and I went to 13 states and Mexico summer of 1979 after my dad died in April. We visited a lot of friends and saw so many sites. Not only did we hike to the lookout. We also took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon
Jessica, hold hands with your Mom and Dad as often as possible! Savor your time with them! Audrey is doing a phenomenal job at home with Bert and Garrett! ❤
Happy new week Mary , That’s so thoughtful of you, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
Yep and watched the new bridge and overlook being built. Enjoy the rest of your time with them.
I was at Hoover Dam many times when we drove over it. So beautiful. Amazing engineering for that era.
Healing prayers for Evelynn. Fun with AZ family. Keep warm in AZ, and kids.
Bert and Jessica, Audrey, Evelynn, Garret and Olivia, we are all blessed to be a part of your Vlog family.
♥️
Hoover Dam is so neat. Fun story. We were there years ago. You can take a tour down inside the dam. At one point there's a long tunnel with an opening at the end covered with some slats. We stuck our arms out and waved while wondering if anyone up top could see us. Later when we were walking around up top, we looked down and our question was answered. We saw arms sticking out of the hole waving at us.
So glad you’ve had a nice relaxing break and seen your family Jessica.
Such a sweet reunion ❤
So glad you all made it home safe. Olivia is beautiful!
It’s so nice to see the awesome family you are an inspiration to a lot of people thank you for being you
I missed you!! Glad you are home!! God bless!
Always enjoy your vlogs. You are such a lovely family. Such positive role models for all your precious children.
LOVE YOU ALL! YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT POSITIVE ATTITUDE
Just far enough away! A little distance can be a good thing, but when we need each other we are there.
Jessica, I am so Happy that you, baby Olivia and Evelyn made it back home alright!🥰. Bert, Audrey and Garrett.... the house looked Great!😁. Y’all did a Wonderful job working together and I know momma of the house Appreciates it!🥰. Many Continued Blessings Somers🕊Family!
Awesome family. Thanks for being there.
7 out of 8 of us live within a mile or so of each other, in Philadelphia. My1 sister lives in FL.(ft, myers) with her hubby. Most of the nieces & nephews live in the Philly area except one nephew who has lived in Macon, GA with his family. He moved there when he was 12. He's 44 now. LOL We are very close. Irish/Catholic/Crazy. I don't think we would be allowed to have a youtube channel. We're crazy fun. Too fun sometimes.
There were 5 of us kids, me being the oldest. Cherish your siblings. Mom and dad have passed away and my two sisters and one brothers are deceased. I only have one brother, who lives in Virginia. I live in Missouri, so when we get together, it’s always a great time. I’m lucky that I do have several nieces and nephews as well as my 2 kids, grandkids and great granddaughters that live near me. Life is good💕💕
It it good to see you all together, Jessica glad you got sunshine and spend time with the family, Blessings to you all
Thanks for sharing ♥️.. blessings to you and your beautiful family 🤗
As a long haul truck driver. I've not only been over that new bridge. But back before that bridge was built. I've driven truck over the Hoover dam that was a major truck route before they built the bypass bridge. Tight curve corners on both sides of the dam. I've also toured the interior of the dam. Very cool to see.
Yes thank you this was awesome . 😍
I remember going there and driving over it on our big year long cross country (up east side, across canada to BC, down and over staying at state and national parks) big trek in the 70s.
Nothing like travel!
👏👏👍Awsome to go on the journey with you all. It was great. I know you made everybody smile to see you all together when you got home. You're such a sweet family!!!💞🌻🙏
Winter is the best in Arizona but you definitely pay the price in the summer 😫🏜🔥🕶❗1️⃣1️⃣8️⃣😫
Hope you enjoy some Arizona cold weather, I'm in Kingman Az and it's cold here too.. I have been to Hoover Dam a few times but I do drive over the bridge a time or 2 per month... I have family in Vegas area... but my family is from Ohio and I have been away from them for several years.. I retire this year and hope to make a trip to see my family since my Mom just turn 93 on January 29th... my family usually plans a day of eating and hanging out when I go home...
I’ve been at Hoover several times. It’s an amazing sight.
I’m glad you had safe travels. ❤
That is one cute Baby! So happy for you all, sending prayers!
I've been there 2 times. It's amazing to see in person
Alot of my family live in the whole block . Grandpa bought the block . Oh I am 54 and live with my parents .
My kids & all the cousins have a dream to buy a vacation compound. I think it will happen soon, all the parents are ready too! When we find the right spot. Then we can build our own tiny cabins on the compound.
Nice update! Thanks for sharing!
Last time I was at the Hoover dam we drove across it before the new bridge was built.
I’m crying because I understand. Both my Husband and I are close to our families. I hadn’t seen my Dad in over 10 years. I miss being close by.
Wow what a great vid!! Little Olivia is sooooo cute and growing like mad! It was just lovely to see how happy she is and then when you got home it was like she knew. You have such a beautiful family (inc your gorgeous pooch) Thanks for this vid, was truly lovely
I so glad that you spent some time with my family. And I glad all made it home safe and always will be sending prayers your way 🙏
My sister lives in Arizona and I live in Georgia and I would give anything to move to Arizona. But, my sister and I do drive each other crazy sometimes but I think that happens the older you get. We always try to talk at least once a week.
We live in Australia, one of our youngest son lives in Canada and all of our main family live in Scotland. Miss them so much. We did live in Colorado for 4 years and came home 2019 via Scotland. First time home in 21 years! was great seeing everyone. Olivia is getting so big, so cute 🙂
is this spam? not too sure!
I loved visiting the Hoover dam!! Such a cool place!
Yes we've been to the Hoover dam, went Christmas of 2021, loved the view too.
I flew over the The Hoover Dam going to Vegas to see Garth Brooks many moons ago. The Grand Canyon was absolutely beautiful flying over it too.
Glad you had a fantastic time with your family, Olivia is growing fast. Love watching all your adventures. 💞
My immediate family mostly lives close by. Extended family is spread over several states. I like being close to my siblings and parents. Jessica, glad you got to spend time with your family!! Good job holding down the fort Bert and Audrey!
