I love your videos Jan! Thank you
This is first time watcher I enjoy everything from starting to end video interesting ❤❤
Just the perfect tutorial for me. I’m 65 and just bought my first sewing machine. You are great at teaching…. Calm and informative. Thank you!
Wonderful, and thank you!
Love watching your videos. I am a newbie to sewing and I am currently working on my first project - a patchwork cushion with 16 squares. Did anyone else start to sing a Pom Pom here, a Pom Pom There, Here a Pom, There a Pom, Everywhere a Pom Pom to the tune of Old MacDonald's farm when Jan talked about the Pom Poms?? No - just me??😂
😂
I LOVE the “Enjoy the ride,” pillow, so so cute!
Thank you! 🤗
Very helpful tutorial! Thanks 😊
Excellent video!!!
I've made several pillows using your tutorial and they turned out perfect (I'm a beginner) thanks ❤❤❤❤
Wonderful and you are so welcome.
My daughters , and one of my sons decorates for all holidays, and having holiday themed pillow cases would make great gifts!
Great idea!!
So enjoyed watching your cushion video this morning. I have completed large applique rabbit and duck and will be making cushions to send half way around the world. A cute way to stay in touch with our great granddaughters. Thanks for nice clear video.
How fun. You are so welcome!
Some people don't realize how difficult it is to teach. You don't talk down to people. Thank you.
Thanks. You are so kind
Leftover, or vintage fabric. That's a really wonderful thing to do.
😉
Wow Great! thanks mam
You are so welcome!
Excellent teaching. Have a suggestion: perhaps it would be easier to see the stitches if contrasting thread is used.
Great suggestion!
Thank you so much! I am a beginner, and your video makes so much sense! Can't wait to make my first pillow!
You are so welcome! Let me know how it goes.
The blue tape tip is everything!

Thanks for this video. Great information for beginners, or for someone who sews their hand-woven fabric, but who has never sewn an envelope pillow case!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Ms. Jan.🙏

Great video .

OMG! So glad to find this video. I have a partial pillow top that I was pondering how to finish. This perfectly explains the process. Thank you so much!

I like your tutorials a lot. Just nice straight talking to give clear instructions, and thankfully not talking to a bunch of people on your computer as so many do lately.
Your cushions are gorgeous and I love the number fabric 🌷

Very nice Jan! Thank you for sharing. I love the Pom poms too!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for sharing the details and tips on how to sew pon pon trim to a cushion cover! I collect many trims whenever I can find cute ones at great prices and haven’t had courage to add pon pon trim yet though I already bought the perfect Oxford fabric to match it with, a few years ago! 😅 Haha. Now after watching your great tutorial I can make my new cushion covers with pon pon trim! Yay! 😁 Mine is white lace pattern print on gray Oxford fabric and I picked out a perfect shade of white pon pon trim! 😊
You are so welcome and your cushion fabric choices sound lovely.
love it, from Portugal
Thank you
Another really useful tutorial, Jan, especially the pompom trim application. You answered many questions for me. The number fabric cushion turned out super cute and has given me lots of inspiration. I do have some tea towels that I can’t bear to use for their intended purpose, so maybe they will appear in cushions form one day!♥️
You are so welcome!
I will be following your steps for my next pillow. Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Love this tutorial, especially adding the trim , and now I know how to add trim to my pillow covers. Thank you for sharing 😊
You are so welcome
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Thank you very much.
You are so welcome!
You are welcome!
Thank you! The tip to use my zipper foot for sewing the pillow cover together is fabulous! I enjoy your videos and website.
Thanks. You are so kind
I used the painters tape for a long time, and it worked well. Recently I bought some magnetic tools that keep the edge lined up.
Yes, they work well too.
Jan, your tutorial along with your tips, tricks and reminders is excellent! I’ve been wanting to make a pillow for sometime and now I have watched your tutorial I have the confidence to do so. Thank you for sharing your sewing and teaching skills. You are awesome! 26:23
Thanks and you are so welcome
Thank you for another great tutorial. So easy to change the look of any room. I love that number fabric. And the trim was perfect. You always make your tutorials so easy to follow. Even a beginner can make something beautiful. Stay Safe and happy crafting
Thanks. You are so kind You stay safe and happy crafting to you!
Thanks for the tutorial. You can set up your machine for the correct seam allowance without painter tape. I am going to sublimate some pillow covers.
i love using painters tape
Thanks for tutorial very helpful I get confused with the back I mess up now I know to line up right sides
You’re welcome 😊
Awesome video! I'm gonna give this a go with my machine.. I'm confident now. Thanks so much. Also I love your hair, just beautiful. short hair is fun 👐
Thanks. You are so kind!
Adorable pillow covers, Jan. I appreciate the pompom tutorial & the number fabric is fabulous. I have made envelope pillow covers, but I didn't cut the fabric - I used one long piece, hemmed the edges, and overlapped the ends. It is a quick method but lacks the structure of the side seams & isn't as polished in appearance as your method. I am going to be on the lookout for pompom trim - I truly love it! Thank you for another great tutorial. xo
You are so welcome!
I LOVED this tutorial Jan! New subscriber❤ The fabric find of your grandma's was terrific too. I didn't inherit my grandmother and ESPECIALLY my mother's talent in sewing and just keep trying with small home decor and bag making projects every once in awhile.
Your style of teaching here was helpful TO ME because most believe this to be such a simple project but when you really want things to turn out nice and you are NOT skilled it looks rough if you sandwich the front and pom poms and back at same time🙄 Thank you for breaking it down because those kind of things are not always obvious to me, but im getting better. I'm going to see if I I can find that upcycled sweater one you mentioned 😊😊
Thanks. You are so kind
Hola! 🤩 7:05 Yes, please.
Hello!
Hii
Jan am so greatful
Thanks. You are so kind
Hi .you have explained it well.Thank you..like to know how you shoot your videos , like placing the camera etc....
I shoot video from topview and some from a tripod. My husband built me a cool device where I place my camera above.
@@JanHowell Thank you so much😊
Thank you and you're 2 pices of fabric that you cut for the backside what are the measurements? I know you said 17 / 2 + 2 You attached one of the pieces but I didn't see how u attached the other piece
I'm Learning to and this is very helpful to me thank you
Learning to sew is what I ment
Here is the link the blog post that has all the details and measurements youmakeitsimple.com/2023/01/25/how-to-make-an-envelope-pillow-cover-simple-sewing/
@@JanHowell Thank you!😊
Very nicely done, Ty 😊 what kind of sewing machine & serger do you have?
I have a babylock verve, a Pfaff performance icon and a babylock victory serger
On your towel insert, how did you do the trim to make it look like it’s all the exact same size pieces? I was so hoping you embroidered it and would give instructions, I am looking to do some pillows.
I cut the white dish towel, then cut 4 strips of yellow fabric. Two yellow strips were the width of the towel and sewn on first. Then two longer strips were sewn onto the width of the yellow strips and towel. Perhaps I'll have to do a tutorial on that too. :)
😍😍😍♥️♥️♥️👍👍👍
😉
If pinking shears prevent fraying why do you recommend sewing the zigzag stitch? Thanks 😊
It an item I am sewing will be launderd a lot, I like to make it more durable by using the zigzag stitch.
Nice video. I wanted to know where you purchased your mini ironing board?
Here is the link for the mini ironing board. geni.us/osZqd
I'm interested in making a pillow with trim and a border hem. Would I need to do anything different in order to do both?
Nope, just add the border then add your trim.
Hi Jan, do you still have your beginners sewing course available? I followed the link on one of your videos but it didn’t come up. Thanks!
HI Hilary, the courses are not available right now. When they are open again, would you like me to send you a note? If so, you can email me at fibersandtwigs@gmail. com and I will note your email and let you know.
Thanks for your interest.
Great 😍😍 Iam in USA and Iwant to make bedsheets and pillows small business but I searched for the high quality, low prices fabrics but Idont know from where Ican get the fabrics, can you suggest some fabric supplier for me please
I don't know where you would get fabric that wide. Sorry
Did you clip your corners, and I missed it?
Yes
hello another great video 😉👍👍🧵when you get a chance please, please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal please kindly let me know OK?thank you very much and have a beautiful day 😊
Great suggestion!
Shouldn't the back pieces each be cut 17" X 11"?
You are correct!!! I don’t know how or why I said 19 1/2 inches 😮??????? I guess I’ll have to put some notes in the description
If you use a pillow insert that is one size larger than the pillow case, the pillow won’t flatten out over time.
Thanks for sharing
17x17 then you just say grab your iron?
Sorry about that. I show the formula but the back pieces end up measuring 17 x 8.5 inches.
you cut off the messure ments for the pillow 17 x ?? Whoe ever is doing Editing for this needs more teaching.
She said 17x.5+ 2 1/2" which comes to 11" . So 17" by 11". Of course I know how to do simple math.
oops, I guess that second measurement did get cut off. So sorry about that. However, I did give you the formula to figure. The formula is most helpful in case you are using a different size pillow form.
Seriously? I guess nobody taught you manners or how to proofread correspondence before sending it. This lady is a gem for sharing her talents with strangers , specifically the formula for different sized pillows, which is all you needed to figure it out for yourself, instead you decided to be rude and unappreciative
Terrible pattern to show
Sorry
