I think Chevy has a hit on their hands! I have had a Chevy for three years and have put seventy five thousand on it with no problems.
Absolutely a home run for Chevrolet in the three row full size crossover SUV segment, especially with the Z71 off-road offering. Absolutely a way better option than the compilation which are crap. Can’t wait for driving video and the future video of this off-roading in Colorado. Great job, Nathan and TFL crew.
Until they come out with a new durango which will hopefully be body on frame this generation this is at the top of my list.
The OG Nathan doing Nathan things!
hell ya!
@ribbit1964 Thanks for watching!
Changing the style to look more like the Tahoe makes this truck much more appealing
It looks like a mini Tahoe, I love it!
Not so mini. It's basically the same size.
Exactly what I said! Mini suburban! Such an upgrade from previous traverse
I saw one sitting on my local dealer's lot and thought to myself "chevy finally figured out style"
This vehicle will sell like hotcakes. Good looking with 3 rows awd and good hp and torque to boot! Well done GM..
Nathan being Nathan. 😂😂 Love his reviews. He is very funny.
We have an Acadia AT4 and we love it. It won't beat a real offroader, but it is amazing through our rough winters. It still has the 3.6L and a 9 speed. It regularly gets over 30 on the highway.
Did he say, "Roman's new hair plugs.."? LOL
LOL. He always has something to say about Roman's hair when he's talking about roof clearance 😂
The standard captains chairs is typical for the perfect american family of four. Well we had three boys all in car seats at the same time so both of our Tahoes, first a Z71 and second a Premier had a bench seat in the middle. The passenger can't reach a small child on road trips in the third row. It was difficult to find both trims with bench seats in the middle though. As the kids got older we at least had an extra seat for their friends and on trips to the beach they could all still sit in the middle row leaving the full cargo area for the dog and bags. I love the look of the captains chairs but we definitely got more Utility out of a second row bench.
I like the new pilots because they have a bench that you can take the middle seat out if you want so you don’t have to find one that has your preferred seating arrangement
It's definitely unfortunate that the majority of 3 row suvs are only giving captains chairs on the upper trims, as if a bench isn't "luxury". It's really dumb. Many people want and need a bench but also want the top trims with the features. It should always be an option to have either one on all trims!
They should sell cars like this in a trim level with no third row, just extra space for cargo.
They do, Honda Pilot.
@@bng9423do you mean passport
@@GaryGraf Yes, sorry about that.
@@bng9423 get a Ridgeline with a topper, you'll have more storage and versatility.
That’s the reason the third row folds down flat.
NATHAT! Good to see you at it! Excellent review!
I like the traverse, I had a 2012 ,the all wheel drive system work great for me, drive over wet stumps and logs.
Nathan’s reviews are the best!
????
I look for your reviews every time there is a major new car launch!
To hell with making them more macho! Just make the damn things halfway reliable
That's call Toyota and Honda 😂
It's not in GM DNA. They're known to be problematic from the start. Great looking Lil car though
@@getlosttoday4045 I’ve dealt with some real stinkers from both Honda and Toyota, too. Remember the infamous head gasket blowing early Toyota V6’s? Or the rebadged Isuzu / Honda Passport? Or the infamous transmission problems in the Honda Odyssey minivans?
@@davidlusk4350 They’re ok looking, but nothing really groundbreaking. I’ll go with Ford or Toyota, thank you!
@drivingfreak I'll take this over any ford! Look up the recalls for them right now. Ford lives in the shop or on recall! Millions on recall just the 1st qtr of 24.. No thanks!
Never been a fan of the Traverse until now - that one looks incredible in the Z71 Spec; although the 3.6 was a respectable power plant, hopefully that new turbo 4 can “carry it”, along with the Enclave and others on that platform.
is the normal default drive mode FWD only and you have to hit a button enter full time AWD(with fwd bias)... or is it always full time AWD with a heavy FWD bias(disconnecting the rear mostly)?
Damn Chevy! That thing looks great! What does that thing sound like?? "Oh you'll love it! It sounds like a vacuum cleaner."
Traded in my 2015 Colorado z71 for the z71 traverse I love it. The comfort and tech are light years better and super cruise is bomb. I was extremely concerned about the 4 cylinder but delivers more horsepower than the v6 as advertised. Love this ride.
Finally we get to see this thing
As being a bigger fella! how comfy are you in driver seat? leg room side to side etc do you feel squeezed in or pretty comfy seating. Thanks!
Does this have a dial for gear selector?
What's the width of the cargo area? Can you put a 4x8 foot piece of plywood?
Does it have the same sequential/ swipe front blinkers as the RS??? The website says it does I’m dying to know, preordered the Z71!
TFL doesn’t understand the importance of showing the details of the vehicle they rather ramble on as they wobble around out of breath.
13:45 did he ever show off his new plugs? very interested in the process of getting them, pricing, etc
Very interested in this and the gmc brother. Can not wait till the drive video.
This directly competes with Explorer Timberline. The seat layout is the same, Specs are very close.
Also the Pilot Trailsport and Pathfinder RockCreek.
I kinda dig that resined fiber look on the dash
Sharp looking!
Looks great.
You can get the base LS and the next up LT with the bench only
@TFLnow you need to address the greed factor these auto companies are starting to embrace with their "pay-to-play" features. I have been a loyal GM customer for over 30 years. I, for one, will be looking for an alternative to GM next time because I am not interested in a monthly bill in order to use the features of the vehicle I already paid for. It may prove impossible to purchase a new auto without, in which case, I will be actively searching the used market for a suitable older vehicle and i will happily do whatever I need to maintain it. The thought of purchasing a $60,000 auto and then having to pay a fee to use it's installed options is just one step too far in my book and I am certain there are many who agree with me. Not that the auto makers will care.....
Not bad at all, looking forward to seeing how it does on off-road trails. Wish the third row was optional and not standard. I don't want or need the third row, I want cargo capacity.
Is this going to be in right hand drive
When will they put dash cam as part of safety package?
I usually love Nathan's reviews, but holy hell was this hard to watch.
Probably because it's still under embargo
I agree with you danhughes
Dude definitely had a few for lunch…
@@GaryGrafThere are other videos recently posted, prior to the embargo date, who are more put together than this. This video is weird. Dude was probably drinking.
@@GaryGrafWhat do you mean by embargo. What happened?
RS and Z71 get the red trim pieces. LS and LT get gray. The new 2.5T has *more* HP and TrQ than the previous V6 offered. It also brings the TrQ on a lot sooner at 1500rpm instead of 4000+ like before. By the numbers at least it's a superior powertrain.
so wait
DO the middle row seats slide or not?
They do
The rear gives me Sienna vibes with those taillights.
Chevy needs to step up and make a Colorado based suv, that’s what the people really want. Body on frame with real 4x4.
How does it compete with 2024 nissian pathfinder rock creek
Do the off road with Traverse z71 vs ford Explorer timberline.
This is more a Blazer than the current Blazer.
I'd want to lose that red interior trim, have a bench seat for the middle row (available only at the lowest trim level), and an option to completely delete the third row of seats, which I would never use and are just unnecessary dead weight for me.
I can’t decide between this and the Grand Highlander!!
Id love to see one with a 2 inch lift on bfg k20
Oh what a world we love in, when the Traverse is built to be better off-road, than the Blazer. LOL 🤯😂
All we need is a premier or high country trim level with a HO 4cyl or a new 6 cyl
Does it get Supercruise?
Where is Jeff could've used him for the back seat review.
Hate the red trim. That’s my biggest complaint about any Chevy RS trim. Unless you have a red exterior, it looks bad. Chevy needs to build all trims with a black interior option.
The body style on the C pillar looks weird, I would love the look if it was contained till the end without making that huge cut .
I like it but it seems like gm are not selling any in Canada 🇨🇦
They are just starting to ship to dealerships now.
We love our Traverse with captains chairs... makes it SO easy for kids to get into the back through the middle without messing with the second row seats which both have child seats.
Whew glad that I skipped to the end right away. Nathan just reads us the brochure in this one. Have to wait for the next video to see it actually driven off-road.
Maps on both screens?...
❤
Hope they moved the power steering and transmission lines and coolers under the front subframe
Still dealing with those lose quality parts and design I see 😂
18:13 that Z71 isn’t 46k. They start at 47,795. With sunroof and super cruise(which looks like that wheel had the light) that one is about 54k. So Chevy lied or you got your sheets mixed up lol
The MSRP of teh z71 before the the extras is 46k. only option this one doesn't have is the Evotex seats. this one is actually $52, 545.
The RS doesn't " Start" at 54k... it is 56K , It comes with EVERY option. There are no configurations available, the only real add-on is $495 or $995 for a "premium color" ( red or white )
The 46 did not include the destination charge. Easy to figure out.
I get your concern with the 2nd row bench seat, but I do like that they have cloth seats standard and the vinyl seats are a standalone option! That Z71 is interesting. My main worry will the fuel tank size (still not released), it has been shrinking a lot from the first generation and I don't think the 2.5T will be that much more fuel efficient compared to the 2.0T or V6 3.6.
I would take this over the Tahoe.
I think Nathan was drunk on this one ☝️
fwd mini Tahoo
Nathan is chipper today
Just bought a 2024 lt awd midnight edition with a bench seat. Just saying...
Why are all the TFL guys breathing so hard every video?
Has more hp and just about the same amount of torque as the Colorado/Canyon.
I will stick to my 2009 that I have had for 7 years - very reliable car/cuv! Granted I have only put 28k miles on it in that 7 years but, no tech is a plus for us! New one is good looking for sure! Look forward to the test drive!
Does it have 4Low and high-clearance steel bumpers? Lockers?
Thoughts on the new engine? Too small for the weight of the vehicle? Do you think it should have been at least a 2.7L, or left as the original 3.6 ? I read on a forum that the engine is too small, and will be stressed by the Turbo to push the limits of the small engine.
Thoughts?
It’s sexy. Someone make a lift kit. Haha
A 2.5 Mouse of an Engine!!!!! GM really lost their minds doing away with the 6 cylinder. I have owned 5 of these since 2011. I got my 2023 in July of last year because I knew the V-6 was going away. It will be my LAST Traverse unless GM goes back to the V-6. GM has done some stupid things in the past but this is one of the worst! I pull a trailer with mine but I would not want to pull my Trailer up the hills around Branson, MO with a tiny 2.5 cylinder Turbo! Mine was 41,990 and I got 3160 off the sticker last year. I will drive it for a long time. I used to trade quite often but not anymore.
Looks really nice. Just hope it doesn't have the electrical issues the last released vehicle does
🔥Loving The HDR Video's 🙏
Also after watching this video all the way through, this is NOT even close to an average review from you guys. Spend some time with the vehicle figuring out how to put the seats down and so forth. No one cares about buttons, nor spending 5 minutes talking about how AWD works or what all terrain tires are. Smh. If this was my first time coming to the channel, it would probably be my last. Hopefully the driving review is MUCH better than this.
but you didn't take it off road
There are two types of SUV's: one for people who really need a subcompact and another for people who really need a minivan.
I HATE THE RED TRIM ON DOORS!
Is this video in HDR ? It's very bright on mobile
10:13 FYI, back seats do not slide.....
FYI: Nissan/infiniti were the first to introduce the rear view camera mirror.
Something with that wheelbase you would think there would be more rear seat legroom
This looks more roomy on inside than tahoe
3rd row: "It's uncomfortable." haha
6.7” clearance on the traverse ?
The forced "Red" trim is and will continue to be a disqualifier for buyers. It's like they got all the Detroit grey beards and mullets in the room. Please stop this GM!
I think they were trying to find things to justify the 10k increase up from the z71
Ever since the his guy said he bought a Hyundai Santa Cruz I can’t take him seriously on any off-road reviews.
Soon to be seen on rental lots everywhere 😂 It just a refreshed GM suv that is lucky to last 100k miles within issues.
That C-pillar blade aint it. Basically forces you to get the car in black to make it blend in
you could always get that stupid reverse shark fin wrapped in black vinyl to hide it
@@tyo8223 yeah i wonder the aftermarket options. I was playing around with a screenshot of the traverse using literally my finger to “paint” it black on the iphone photos edit, and it looks so much better blacked out.
Maybe worth 40k but definitely not 50k
Definitely hard to watch
How Tall are you? for 3rd Row perspective
6’1”
Spend a little more and get the tahoe Z71 with the LZO 3.0 DURAMAX.
If GM had utilized the 2.7 HO from the Colorado it would've made more sense from a consumer standpoint.
Last gen traverse are soccer mom SUVs..
Can't abide The massive C½-pillar styling and the blind spot it creates. Btw, regular Highlander wheelbase is 4 inches shorter than the Grand Highlander.
That's what mirrors are for
How do you never get behind the wheel of a vehicle and hop in the comments talking about its blind spots?
It looks confused on the outside. Tahoe front with an Equinox floating roofline. The inside is nice though.
Those C-pillars and rear windows are awful!
Wow, this is a quantum leap forward over the outgoing generation Traverse. The 3.6 is gone and the styling is much more truck like. I really like it (for a CUV). I hope they improve the ride. The old generation felt bloated and heavy going down the road. Can't wait to see if it actually has some off-road ability. Does this Z71 have a limited slip rear diff? Would be cool if it did. Great job Nathan, always enjoy your quips and one liners.
Looks like the Nissan pathfinder now
