Late as hell but just discovered this show, finished it and I am OBSESSED. Gene Hunt is absolutely my favorite character I’ve ever known. I’ve also just discovered this song because of the show and this video is great. ❤️
'I'm happy, I hope you're happy too' is taken from the David Bowie song/video Ashes to Ashes (which the series is obviously named after), and in the video for it, David is dressed in that clown/mime/harlequin outfit. Presumably she associated the song with that time in her life as it was out in 1980 and the video made quite a haunting impact, especially on me :)
Gene Hunt through the broken glass... "A man in the dark in a picture frame So mystic and soulful..." What an image... It deserves one poem (at least) or two...
You can't go wrong with a choice of 80's songs to boost your scenes but to match the scenes with the right song, add very realistic acting and create the right atmosphere is another thing all together and didn't this all come together with the shooting the glass scene and the whole of 'Ashes To Ashes'. Best TV Series in decades.

Great editing by whoever people did it for the show and additionally 'jeanie jay'. Even the sound editing of the glass shattering merges with vienna perfectly while the slow mo shatter and ice freezing over are magnificently done.

'Fraid the extended version is gone. It was on the LuigisA2AForum channel but they evidently decided to move away from having music vids and removed it. I didn't have it saved anywhere else, so yeah, this is what happens when you don't back up your work!
