Wasn't a huge fan of Space, til I saw them live at T In The Park '98. They were absolutely brilliant. Luckily enough, Catatonia were playing the same day, so Cerys came out to do this song with Space. One of the highlights of T that year.

Space had something unique, i loved them when I was 18, listened to them all the time.. such a shame they ended the way they did with some sad stories connected. When music makes u smile, you know it’s good ☺️
My mate was keen on them as well, I did like their stuff myself, though I wasn't into music very seriously. Tommy has a different look to his usual 90s one in this clip, I think it suits him!

Great. Saw Space in Preston last Friday - they were great. Tommy was insane coming into the audience several times and also managed to get someone to sing Cerys's part (I was wondering about that).

This song takes me back to my childhood, it has taken me days to remember the lyrics to this song to find it 😂 I'm sure its saved on my ipod as sang by catatonia, I was searching lyrics i could remember and sang by catonia, spelling it wrong just wasn't helping me find it. love this song and her voice is just so recognisable.

not sure why this is called "ballad of tom jones" but i LOVE it anyway.
Because they are singing about how the music of Tom Jones saved their relationship (ie "You stopped us from killing eachother...Tom Jones,Tom Jones....Youll never know but you saved our lives") The song is a story which is why its called a ballad.
I think the clue is in the lyrics.. Tom Jones Tom Jones!!

You know what's sad, and i really like this song....it wouldn't be allowed to go out in 2020. The lyrics would be censored due to the implied domestic violence.

Tom Jones is Welsh. She says to her husband in the story that she's never thrown her knickers at him (Jones famously has women throw their undercrackers at him during his gigs) and he replies that he doesnt come from Wales. As said above, he's from Liverpool.
