    Great to see the follow up on the Tikka T1X. I would like to see how it does at 100+ yards as long range mine not so good. I assume not as accurate as Lilja CZ457. Sako Quad would be interesting to compare to CZ457 as has lilja option, although doesn't need the barrel upgrade as much. Shame no chassis option for sako quad as would be a top choice for NRL etc. Thanks for another great video.

  • @SEAKPhotog
    @SEAKPhotog Před 2 lety +1

    I really enjoy my Tikka T1x. You're right - the short throw is very nice. And the stock trigger is pretty great. It's in an Oryx chassis but otherwise it's stock. I've got a Nikon FX1000 6-24 on it that I got at a screaming price. Of the ammos I've been able to try (my ammo selection is limited by what I can find in local small stores and Sportsman's Warehouse - we can't mail order any), it prefers SK Standard Plus. It definitely likes 40gr bullets most. It'll even shoot OK with bulk 40gr stuff like American Eagle and Aguilar, which really surprised me. Even CCI quiet works well with a crap ton of drop of course (crazy quiet ammo). I do have a few rounds of some Eley I need to try. Sadly, I haven't seen any higher quality .22 ammo in a long time so my supply is drying up. Fortunately it also likes Norma TAC enough to have fun with and I've got a ton of that ammo. I guess the big downside vs the CZ is that it lacks the CZ's ease of customization. I'm still thinking bof grabbing a 457 to play with and compare to the T1x. It'd be fun to own both.

  • @ryannewby5821
    @ryannewby5821 Před 2 lety

    I have a very similar setup that I love. Major difference is I run a KRG x-ray but same harels tuner. I find myself mostly shooting CCI SV due to the cost to performance ratio. But it will shoot real good groups with Midas + when I’m looking for the best results.

    My T1X is bone stock and usually takes 10 rounds to season and settle down with any ammo I shoot. My T1X is a honest sub moa 50 yard gun with good ammo. haven't shot groups at 100.
    Having said that unless money is tight I recommend you save and get a CZ 457 MTR in any variant its offered in. If money is tight then get the T1X it has served me extremely well.

      @@craigcook1571 I know the FX guys have been using them with a lot of success. Part of that, I think, is due to the thinner barrel profiles air rifles use causing harmonics to be magnified.
      Same principles apply to 22lr but i think its less pronounced due to barrel size.

    • @craigcook1571
      @craigcook1571 Před 2 lety

      @@PursuitofAccuracy maybe, I’ve got a FX Maverick, that’s been really frustrating on accuracy. I put a carbon barrel sleeve on it which didn’t improve it any.
      I think your right about the barrel being so thin, especially with the higher powered air guns.
      May have to try one on it if tuning it doesn’t bring it around.
      I’ve been enjoying your vids. In my opinion the .22lr is the greatest cartridge ever developed, and your shooting the distances you are shows it is way more capable than a lot of people think. We have killed several wild hogs with it at short distances with .22sub sonic hp’s in the ear, dropping em like a rock.

    cz 3x the throw. The barrel is now a set screw qc barrel concept. There is no way a barrel held by set screws matches a threaded tenon shouldered barrel. not to mention Tikka t3/t1 series barrels are well known for accuracy. Let's face it the ONLY reason this channel prefers CZ is a non bedded wood stock which is proven not as consistent. There is a reason you do not see solid wood stocks on ANY type of competition rifle.
