- K1 Media Filter provides the maximum active surface area for the bacteria to colonise, more than other types of static media. It is this process which removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.. We used K1 Micro as the tank size is small. K1 media can be used even in sump systems. Only thing is that it needs to be moving well.

I have always wanted to try aquaponic setup.. But the problem is majority of my tanks are Discus tanks and Discus love slightly warm water... So many plants don't survive in little warm water... So it has been pending since very long

Can glass be used instead of the acrylic sheet? Setting up a new tank for discus need your advise on this.
Making the filter with glass it will be difficult to install and clean... Acrylic is more easy to handle as it is light weight

Firstly your tank is over crowded.... K1 Media I don't have currently.. You might need about 500 grams of k1
how strong should the air pump be?
You should have continued circulation.. Like I have shown in the video... So depending on the size of the filter you need to decide the pressure

Can activated carbon along with ceramic rings be used permanently in power head internal filter??? Plzzzz help sir.

I think you can do that. You can enclose the media with a thin layer of foam within the power head filter containers. If you fill the containers with media without foam the fish waste will clog the media and make it less effective.
@@loki8686 thanks bro.. @shivam But again activated carbon has to be replaced time to time... Like Maybe in 2 months or so... So mixing ceramic rings and carbon together I would not recommend

I think bioballs and ceramic rings are better than this.
This has also been working fine... No issues.. It's keeping my parameters in track
