I took my Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon to the drag strip and raced it against a Porsche 911 and an Audi R8. Here's what happened when a 2012 AMG Wagon races a 911 and an R8 -- two great sports cars from 2012.

Yes, having your AC on does matter. It causes you to leak water onto the track haha. If they spot it normally they will come on the loud speaker and yell at everyone to turn their AC off.

The helmet is by law after you run a certain amount of time, differs by track though but at the speedway in NJ you always need one.

To be honest the outcome was expected. V8 R8 and a base model 911 are no where near as powerful as that beast E63.
Squidward's House yeah but the Mercedes weighs quite a bit more than both cars. And the 911 is light and has a dual clutch transmission which should have made a large difference against the R8
The 911 should have been running mid 12's. could be a driver issue or car issue honestly. Maybe a missed shift or transmission issues?
The r8 did as expected.. average times for stock 2012 r8s range in the lower to mid 13s.
To be honest - I think Doug is a better driver... If he was in the 911 , he would have beaten the e63 (if they switched cars). In races Driver experience makes a huge difference.

Mohammad Ali Karimi not gonna make that much of a difference in two autos on a drag strip where there's no traction issues with either car. Mash the gas and go.
Robert Hull 12.5 and 13.8 on the 911 is a huge difference in a 1/4 mile.. 12.5 is fast car .. a 13.8 for a 911 is odd/peculiar/disgraceful - a 2004 Evo or Suburu or even a Dodge Neon Srt4 could potentially beat that.
Could be bad tires, transmission but my two cents is the driver. Maybe he didn't want to run his car hard.
I'd agree to disagree. There's always traction issues on the drag strip. Issue is always getting power to the ground effectively no matter what car your in. In essence that's what the drag strip is designed to do. Measure how effectively you get power to the ground. You could be in a Camaro and you'll be battling wheel spin/hop.
Classic Doug, lines up on a drag strip in comfort mode... I really loved this video, you should pepper in more of this kind of content. Not specifically drag racing, but just you having fun with your daily driver. It's an AMG, cars like that are made for fun.
Also, please secure your helmet properly in future Doug, it only saves your head if it's actually on your head. That lazy nonsense with the strap is not good enough. We want more videos from you and creating new content will be difficult if you're in a coma.
