    Simply the best bait maker at least on CZcams. You keep it simple with materials but come up with outstanding designs, unique baits and of course unmatched pair jobs.
    By the way, I may have copied your turner design somewhat, modified slightly but same idea. It’s been great for all shapes and sizes of baits and other things I’ve clear coated.
    Thanks for all you share!!

      @@SolarfallBaits I saw on a group someone made a frame for the mesh and when pressed on the lure it kept it nice and tight. Likely something you’ve tried but thought it may be an option for that meshing you used.

    Nice video
    I have made lures from MDF
    But I found out the hard way that any flaw or chip in the epoxy or paint
    And then some MDF will suck up water like a sponge
    I had 2 of 20 or so lures I made , the finish chipped
    Those lures had areas swell up over time

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  Před rokem +1

      That's always a possibility the trick is to let the mdf suck in as much epoxy as possible, i think urethane sealer might be even better cos it's thinner.

    • @SolarfallBaits

      It's called lexan polycarbonate sheet that I used for the lip

    • @fshng2114

      @@SolarfallBaits Thanks for the reply. I have used some of this .030 thick material for balsa lures for fly fishing. I super glued lips then used up resin to top coat lure. The lure had a fast wobble which is what I wanted. The BAD NEWS the lip BREAkS OFF after a short while. I repeated this experiment 3 more times with shorter lips which broke as well. I am going to try different adhesive before I move on to thicker material. Do you have any other suggestions?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  Před rokem

      Sounds like you might have used normal polycarbonate to make your lips. The lexan type bends before breaking and you have to bend it a whole lot before that happens. I have never had a 0.30" actually break off.

    one question, you always airbrush paint on a bait with unsanded Epoxy

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  Před 9 měsíci

      Because it’s not necessary to sand epoxy prior to painting.

  • @AdamMiharaFishing
    @AdamMiharaFishing Před rokem

    The MDF use is fascinating. How would you rank it as far as carving and action? I'm always going to be a natural wood fan but its nice to know it can be done with MDF.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  Před rokem +2

      With carving you need to be careful it's kinda easy to shave off too much but that's true with some timbers too so I think you will be good as long as you have a sharp knife. Action wise I would rank it surprisingly good. Only thing I would be careful with mdf is that you need to seal it well. If you get any water damage, the mdf will expand and pretty much tear the epoxy coating open. With sufficient care when applying the sealant this should be a but a small problem.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  Před rokem +1
