Any cement experts out there? Let me know what i did wrong.
I know a lot about concrete. Love watching your videos.
nope. mutta kuivuu varmaa liian nopeaa, pitÀs suihkutella vedellÀ ja kÀÀriÀ elmukelmuun. siihen pitÀs laittaa myös jotain tukea sisÀlle esim rautalankaa
There wasn't enough super glue or baking soda for that matter
@@cballz you forgot noodles
Cement in small quantities is quiet brittle, I would look at fibre reinforced method, possibly using thin wire, fibreglass fibre or thin metal shavings from a metal lathe and mix it with the cement.
What a beautiful mold. I hope many brilliant baits come from here
From these videos it had inspired me to make a lure making videos
Awesome work man!!
What colors!!!!! Amazing carving. I suggest you add nature sounds when you have long parts of carvings, just as you did in the walnut fish!
I will think about that on my next vid
Very cool video man!
Thank you so much for the movie.
Hail Hydra.
First!!!
Nice :)
The scale carving is master craftsman level. Have you ever thought about firearm stock checkering tools for that step? Thanks for the inspiration!
I have done few gun stocks about 20 years ago. The checkering tool is great for gun stocks not so great for finesse work on lures.
@@SolarfallBaits Thanks for the insight.
Hey, Mikko. I'm one of the whiners who has asked you in the past NOT to skip or speed up any stages of your detail carving. Thanks for accommodating us. My reason is simple: In my not-in-the-least-humble opinion, you're the best in the world at this, and understanding exactly how you manipulate the knife as you carve shows me how to improve my own pitiful efforts.
I have to say, though, that you did skip a couple of other things that left me curious: First, why did you paint the wooden "master" black before making your mold? Second, how and with what did you weight the prototype? (You didn't show us this part of the process.)
As for the action of the finished spybait, as usual the nÀkymÀtön kylpyhauki (I hope that's Finnish for "Invisible Bathtub Pike") smashed it with reckless abandon. Unfortunately, you're correct about our not being able to see the churning ofl the propellers or the side-to-side motion of the bait. Maybe someday (in my next life?) you'll succumb to the whiners like me and build a simple 10'-long plywood-and-fiberglass test tank in your garage so that you (and fans like me) will be able to truly witness and appreciate how each of your creations performs. Laughingly, Chris (in Maine)
Hello Chris hope everything is well at your part of the world. Anyways the reason I painted the master is that different color than wood it's easier to notice mistakes and imperfections in the carving thus making it easier to correct them. For the weighing I just used a piece of lead that I attached to the wire by splitting it open and clipping it to the wire with a pair of pliers. Also your right I think I will have to make better lure testing tank for better viewing close up how they actually work. A circulating water tank system is something I might end up doing for that purpose.
Really nice video! What about using PU Resin mixed with these super small glass bubbles for casting the lure? I always do it like that and it works really well.
That would be something I would normally use. This was an experiment to see if I can make a lure out of bondo.
@@SolarfallBaits ah ok! Turned out really nice!!
Very impressive, love your work,I was wondering were can I buy those bibs that you glue in,I've tried to catch what you call them but I just can't seem hear it properly, I think you said you can buy them commercially, I hope you can help ,oh keep up the great work ,I fish for sea bass in cornwall ,uk ,cheers
Do you mean propellers?
@@SolarfallBaits hey bud,no i didnt mean propeller ,I asked on the wrong video,it was the saddle lips I was after, seems they are only avaliable in Finland, took some searching but I found a company there who sells them, obviously my ginning is a tad rustyđ€Łso after lengthy backwards and forward emails I ordered a packet of 5đ€Łđ€Łsorry gotta laugh, after all the work the poor bloke done for me I ordered 2 euros worth,,,,,but it's a trial, ended up using PayPal to transfer money ,bloody brilliant,I read a whole lot of comments on an American site and they violent track them down,I'll let you know how I get on ,making them for sea bass cornwall ukđđlove the work buddy
Sorry ,spell check,,,,,,my Finnish is a bit rustyđ€Łand Americans on that site couldn't track them down(saddle lips)
@Guy Hallam ahh Okey well that makes more sense to me. But yeah those saddle lips are difficult to obtain, in the past shops would flat out refuse to send anything outside Finland.
Bro I'm gonna Launch my website to sell my lures ! And there is a part talking of you in ! I will send you the link if you want !
Hello! What type of meatgrinder do you use for recycling molds??? Picture?? Regards, Kjelle.... Sweden...
You can't add pictures to comments. It's an old cast iron one that has a hand crank
@@SolarfallBaits thanks...now I know...
I have a kind of weird question for you what's your average viewer duration on the videos like this how you left the full carving part in?
In this case 11:15 minutes
@@SolarfallBaits ok thanks
Yks pyyntö: PistĂ€ vaikka linnunlaulua, kosken solinaa tai jotain muuta ÀÀntĂ€ tuohon taustalle kun vuoleskelet, niin ei tarvi tsekata moneen kertaan et onko ÀÀnikortissa jotain hĂ€ikkÀÀ đ€Łđ€Ł
PistetÀÀn korvan taakse
Kitos
The carving is very unnececessary. When you have a lure you want to move through the water with efficacy, you want it smooth. This is the difference between a carver and a fisher.
Doesent the lure come smooth once i covered it with epoxy? đ
@@SolarfallBaits Exactly my point. It's a waste of time if you hit it by hand or thickness....by spray? Eh.
Carvers specialize in looks. Fishers specialize in swim. This is what people like Melosh don't understand bc he is a carver first.
@@wolverinex4243 actually looks do work in your favour in a lure like this which does not really have body action and the movement mainly comes from the blades while the body stays pretty still and acts as a target for the fish to strike. Anyways i like to carve stuff from time to time and figured i might as well do so here too because why not.
I get it. I'm saying you could have drawn that in; the gills. It would come out the same. For a lot of topwaters, don't you know.
Lol. You are funny. If you do eyes, just set them in with the sticky back. You're going to freaking coat it over. If you want to glue it, wash the back with alcohol, then use super glue. Geez. Mixing epoxy and letting them set in nog viable, not at all.
I use epoxy on the back of the eyes because the 25 years of experience i have on making and selling fishing lures have lead me to the conclusion that this method works the best for me since i like to make a eye sockets on my lures and just sticking them in with a sticky back can cause the epoxy finish to bobble around they eye and ruin the prestine look im aiming for.
I make lures too. Never had that problem. I do my methods.
