    Ender 3 was the most selled printers back then, and now they became cheap and easy to get anywhere. So a case designed to fit in a 220mmx220mm print bed will be a great idea.

      Would love to have it happen. These designs are so well thought out and I think most common printers are around the 220 x 220 mm mark.
      Things I would appreciate:
      - 1-2 x 2,5” drive support (also some way to slot one in toollessly would be cool)
      - SFX / ATX psu option similar to this case (love the flexibility of it!)
      - 2 slot GPU support
      - 1-2 x 120 mm bottom fan intake for the GPU similar to NR-200P
      - CPU cooler support height around 70 mm similar to NH-L12S styled coolers or small water cooler block with 120mm fans

      You often can't actually use all 220mm, if you design something for enders etc maybe try to stay around 215

      @@laurikvo thank you! I’ll probably be aiming for parts somewhere around a maximum of 200x200mm mark per panel piece. In addition to the extension cords having different angled orientations (including up and down), the power supplies themselves sometimes have the socket mounted one way or the other. I ran into this with one of my builds. So for anyone that has to use PSU mains plug extensions, make sure that you also double and triple check which way the power supply you're about to purchase has that plug orientation at.

      @@makerunit I think cases with small footprints are really nice, so a Matx/atx Case with a small footprint would be really cool. Also a Slot for a dust Filter that you could Just Slide in Like the other Panels (that are 3d printed) would be pratical. An Front IO would be nice. A versetile piece, where people could just Design the Ports demisions into the already Made piece. (They could Take the Ports Form their old Case or If it is their first Case just buy one new). Long story Short a Part that is wide that could fit into a space and could be screwed into that, while having the CAD of this holder to adjust it to the io Front Panel that the people have, so they do not have to buy a new one. About the Matx Case, I personally am not the biggest Fan of so wide cases, a narrow one would look much better, at least for me. Have a nice day. bb

    You could also design a case that would be made for Ryzen 8000G series iGPU-only builds, with a Flex-ATX PSU, a cheap B650M motherboard (A620M are surprisingly expensive, let alone ths ITX boards) for that PBO and iGPU and RAM overclocking and to have the smallest size that would house a low profile CPU fan that can sustain 95W very well (a 20x20mm patch of PTM7950 in the middle of the CPU heat spreader would be a must). Imagine something that's only 3L and would house a Flex-ATX PSU (or a Pico PSU's 12V power adapter) below the CPU heatsink, so as to make use of the unused PCI-E slot space, since GPUs like the GTX 1650 would be simply unnecessary now. That would make for a compact and dense upgradable system that won't sound like a jet engine like those mini-PCs do, which cannot be upgraded.
    I want to build a system like this with a Ryzen 5 8600G that's going to be cheap but very fast for my workloads, because I don't play videogames, and don't even need an SFF case with a costly ITX motherboard because of this. All cases for my needs are garbage, so a light but strong case with good airflow would be great to build in. A killer feature of a build like this is the possibility to freely upgrade the RAM as you like, as well as the CPU in 5 years' time with a Zen 6 APU with RDNA 4 at a discount to get a 40%+ CPU performance improvement, and just print out a bigger case in case you ever need to install a dGPU (for some reason).

    • @makerunit
      @makerunit  Před 5 měsíci

      I see! I’m actually considering to make a new APU case design very soon which is intended to utilize a PICO psu and a 200mm fan for extremely quiet (pretty much silent, in theory). At the moment I do not own a FLEX atx psu but I intend on getting one some day to make more projects with that as well for higher performance requiring builds.

    • @one_step_sideways
      @one_step_sideways Před 5 měsíci

      @@makerunit I didn't notice that you already made a 3L case that's very similar in scope. One thing is that the Pico PSUs require a massive external 12V adapter to be hauled around as well, unless it's totally stationary and can be buried somewhere below the desk. So it can't be a 3L case, as it needs more volume to house that Flex-ATX PSU.
      So here's how I see the Ryzen 8000G-oriented case:
      - using only an mATX board, many of them are almost twice as cheap as the ITX boards, namely the Gigabyte Gaming boards, so it has to be effectively 250x250mm in size to account for the 244x244mm size factor.
      - potentially being ~90mm in depth, so as to leave some space in the lower part of the case for a Flex-ATX PSU, or maybe even up to an SFX-L PSU (not sure why we'd need it for an iGPU build that would only use around 180W peak in total with OC) that are 41mm in depth, and the rest of the board with its M.2 and chipset heatsinks, outstanding PCI-E slots, the stand-off depth and other factors, and to leave some free room between the two.
      - ditching the included Wraith Spire cooler, which is 105mm in depth by itself, for a less noisy and capable low profile cooler option
      All of this would leave us with a

  • @dawsonpoe
    @dawsonpoe Před 5 měsíci

    My only suggestion for this case would be using acrylic mesh panels on the side for those who like looking at the interiors of their builds. Also, adding a triple slot for more gpu space if not done so already.
    For a new case design, move the PSU to in front of the mobo, with the PSU fan facing the exterior, then you can add a 120-140mm fan in the front and one above the mobo. This would still give the option of a low profile cpu cooler or a 120mm aio (the aio would have to go to the front though). I guess it would be a similar design to the SilverStone SG13

    very cool design.
    Some niche suggestiions:
    1. Would be cool if that 2.5" bracket could hold 4x drives.
    2. Would it be possible to have those side panels fit an ender 3 220mm bed by having the panels split into two interlocking panels? Perhaps the 2.5" drive bracket could hold both side panels together?

    • @makerunit
      @makerunit  Před 5 měsíci +1

      By using a SFX psu only it could be possible to add 4x 2.5 inch drives instead but it would require a re-design.
      The side panels are 227x300mm at most so unfortunately it’s just too big for the ender even if split in two, but that’s what I’m thinking about doing, it’s to create a new design that is specifically designed to be printed on smaller printers. 😊
      Yeah it would be helpful if the bracket held the parts together definitely.

    • @makerunit

      I have not measured the internal temperature but based on the temp on the M.2 drives we’re looking at just over 40 degrees C. In most cases it’s rarely a problem to use PLA. Only if you are making some poorly designed hot boy with pretty much zero air it MAY cause problems. Most cases won’t really matter if you use PETG or PLA tbh.

    How is your experience with PLA for these case builds? No softening/sagging in hotspot areas?
    I've only printed in PLA so far and want to make a case similar to your designs. I'll get into PETG eventually, but don't have the time lately to do any tuning/tweaking to get perfect prints from a new [to me] material.

    • @makerunit
      @makerunit  Před 5 měsíci +1

      My experience is that mostly PLA is fine and I have not had any direct issues with this in any of my builds. In fact the grey panels of this case is printed with PLA. I do still try to use PETG where possible.
      It’s not really hard to print PETG in my opinion but bad overhangs and stringing are a bit harder to avoid with PETG as it doesn’t cool as fast as PLA, and if you do cool it too fast it may warp and lift the corners. I generally try to avoid parts with long overhangs when I plan to use PETG.

      @davidg5898 Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@makerunitThanks for the advice. I'll give it a go with PLA and see how it fares at the hotspots (like right behind the CPU). I'll try PETG if the PLA does end up softening.

    • @makerunit
      @makerunit  Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@davidg5898 I don’t think the hotspot behind the CPU wil matter. There is no load on that portion of the panel anyways, just a small air gap, even at 80 degrees the air just a couple millimeters away is far from that. And even at 80 it still needs some force to actually bend, so I wouln’t worry.

    what height/width of gpu is supported? also is there an option for a rear 90mm fan for a dual tower cpu cooler setup? what about an option for just a regular psu extention for the rear?

    • @makerunit
      @makerunit  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi, I have actually just made some modifications to this a few days ago supporting a rear 92mm fan next to the motherboard. Also, 2 slot GPU no wider than about 125mm. Otherwise the cables will get super tight. The biggest height I’ve tried was a 1660 Super ITX which was 121mm height out from the motherboard and it was already getting quite tight with only a few more millimeters to spare.
      The internal width is exactly 150mm. The standoffs are 6mm, motherboard thickness is 1.5mm meaning you have a total of about 142mm from motherboard to wall. So you’ll be able to measure this before building to see if it’ll fit including your power cables. Measure from the PCIe part of the card up to the cables added. They probably have to be carefully bent upwards and I recommend doing that before installing the cable onto the GPU to relieve stress on the connector.

    • @makerunit

      Well, to put it the easy way. The larger the print volume, the better for PC cases. All my designs fit within 300x300, but for example with a 400x400 printbed you may even be able to print a full size ATX case in single side panel parts. I’m mainly sticking to less than 300mm size printers as I share most of my files and most people don’t have bigger than that.
