Cobra Kai | Daniel vs. Chozen
/ sptv
They Made Chozen look bad in one entire movie, but then they made him everybody's favorite in one episode.
That has to be the best thing I have ever seen.
These writers > *
thats true ,and he is back in season 5!
And his performer conveyed it equally well.
Chozen for mortal kombat play
I mean he did train for a long time after he lost to Daniel so 🤷
35 years and Chozen finally got his honor back by honking Daniel. The best scene in the whole series. KK2 was also my favorite.
Daniel honked Chozen when he took his honor so it seems valid
Older then me I was born 1990 only 31 dang
The entire montage is the best in the entire series so far.
Exactly!
You know, they never finished their, *FIGHT TO DEATH*
He waited more than 30 years to give back that joke...what a genius.
No sarcasm. ಠ_ಠ
Chosen gave Daniel.a.lesson: revenge takes.many forms. Some from.what one has done.to.orhers
38 Years
I don't think he was waiting to make that joke. He saw that Daniel was terrified of him and was like "This is gonna be epic" lmao
What kind of troll would wait for years to make a joke like that?
Probably one of high caliber it seems.
As much as Chozen has to teach Daniel, this scene makes it clear that Daniel once taught something to Chozen - something he'll never forget for the rest of his life.
Humility
No it was sato who gave him a second chance and miyagi that chozen look up to with sato
Daniel didn't do anything accept getting arrogant about knowing everything about miyagi do karate
@@yosifalhasil6044 Daniel risked his life to save a child when Chozen was too afraid.
@@Wankshaftsbury yes but clearly Chozen is a better man now and spent the last 30+ years training for good.
Exactly!!!!
Love how Chozen went from being a typical arrogant teenage bully villain to a loveable yet dangerously skilled martial arts master. This man stole the show in season 5.
Yes definitely the best character of season 5
People mature and change. Just like real life.
And don't forget that he & Daniel, & eventually he & Johnny, & he & Samantha, all started becoming really tight
It's def. a good ex. of 1 of the Greatest victories of the martial arts -- making your greatest adversary into your greatest ally.
time has a way of seasoning youth with our mistakes and failures to bring about true wisdom.
Turning Chozen into a good guy was a brilliant move.
The central theme of the series is redemption. Even Kreese was on the verge of moving that direction when Silver betrayed him.
@@kurtwpg And lest we forget Mike Barnes?
@KamenRiderGumo Didn't forget Mike. Just pointing out that Kreese and Silver were the only ones never redeemed and it almost happened to Kreese.
@@kurtwpgI guess silver was redeemed between the movies and the series but past caught up to him and he fell for it
Is Daniel Goku?
Chozen got redemption and revenge at the same time. That’s awesome.
He was playing around having fun lighten up
That’s the best kind of revenge!🤣
Now they are both even with the honks LOL
Yeah at Like 30 plus years later. So as they say, revenge is best dish served cold. Although in this case he was just messing with him.
About redemption: Thought for a possible future scenario of Cobra Kai: Since Miguel and Hawk are All Valley Champs now, Robby will end like Daniel in 1985, in a life and death fight. And when he is almost death, like Sato, Yuki and Miyagi stood there back in the day, this time Chozen, Kumiko and Daniel would stand there, Daniel and Chozen with the drum in their hands, giving Robby his final instruction how to survive. This would be the ultimate redemption for Chozen, and it would be simply such a fantastic thing if a technique from Miyagi-Do Karate saves the life of Johnny Lawrence s son years later. And the drum technique wasnt used in Cobra Kai yet, maybe there is a reason for and they saved it for later.
3:15 3:16 Love That Line
“If an enemy insists on War, then you take away their ability to wage it, eh?” -Chozen Toguchi
silver wages for more and cheat
One of the best lines in ANY movie.. wooo
Chozen has an excellent point
It is the most basic tenet of warfare.
@aviation62yt39: Interesting that Chozen's last name was Toguchi, and the actress who played the little girl Yuna was Traci Toguchi.
One of my favorite parts of this is, that even after being "humiliated", the first thing Daniel does, when realizing he DOESN'T know ALL of Miyagi-Do Karate, is to ask his old enemy if he will teach him. The level of respect and willingness not just to learn, but realize you don't know everything is just great. It really says a lot about Daniels character. He is a true student of Miyagi-Do, and as soon as he finds out there is more to learn, he is willing to be taught, even by Chozen.
Thats the reason why daniel will always be better than johnny.
@@ace9924 Even then though. He realized that when it came to his daughter Johnny's approach works best for her.
Yes! This is a great point and observation.
Daniel was always humble and willing to learn anything that s why is great at karate
@@michaelbull4344 In several cases over the course of the show, Daniel showed nothing but sheer ignorance and disapproval on different takes of karate, even Cobra Kai and Eagle Fang. He ever got pass through all that just by accepting that he could learn better outside of Miyagi Do because he shattered his own ego to let the students learn both styles. Not really saying Daniel isn't humble, he just needs to learn to be in someone's shoes and use that to get even stronger. Going towards Season 5, he has improved on an unrivaled level by using both Miyagi Do and Silver's Quicksilver method, as well as Eagle Fang's offense. Overall, he can do so much more, at the end, he just needs to open up more to other styles.
Chozen is gonna be the new Mr. Miyagi. Hell yeah! No one can replace Mr. Miyagi...but if anyone could...it's Chozen! Awesome 👌
He’s the Chozen one.

Can we all agree that Chozen has the BEST laugh?
Oh oh yes
Yep, that is the bridge between Young Chozen and older more mature Chozen. That laugh… That cackle is what young and old fans of the Franchise recognized immediately
And the LAST 😂
Agreed
His laugh is everything😊
I am happy that Chozen and Daniel became friends. Even without the techniques that Chozen knows, Daniel did a very good job. It is great to see that Chozen was able to find that peace within himself.
And Mike Barnes too
It just goes to show 2 of the greatest victories in the martial arts -- preferably making peace w/ your worst adversaries, & making them into your best allies.
They really did a great job in this series at turning one dimensional throw away villains into complex and enjoyable characters. I especially love that Chozen was able to be redeemed.
Yep Yep
Fear turned into curiosity.
"Defense takes on many forms"
Such a great line and it teaches Daniel that Miyagi Do was more than just self defense. Of all the KK characters, Chozen was the only one that outgrew his issues in the past.
i was going to say no, Mike Barns also did ,but then i forgot, yip, he still had his issues too, so yeah, you are RIGHT, with your comment :)
Chozen’s response to Daniel at the end was tremendous. No harbored hate, but humbleness!
He knows he was wrong. Daniel forgiving him was the final part he needed to regain his honor.
Aka: “humility.” Just FYI.
Mr. Miyagi may be the best fighter in the movies, but Chozen is a better teacher, he taught both the offensive and defensive side of Miyagi do. Chozen is definitely the combination of Daniel and Johnny, has Daniel's defense and Johnny's offense
Definitely
Which is how martial arts is in real life. There’s a time to push the action and a time to slow the pace down. He’s basically the Mase Windu of Cobra Kai
To Miyagi’s credit, he initially just taught Daniel how to win a tournament. He tried his best to discourage Daniel from fighting all together.
Basically
Daniel is the symbolism of Defence of Miyagi fang
Johnny js the symbolism of Offence in Miyagi Fang
Chozen will now fill the void they both have. It is Balance.
@@Meta_Meech I've kinda red this line in Kengan Omega during the fight between Jurota and Hayami. Just curious if you have it from there too :)
can we also talk about how great the acting is from yuji okumoto? up until the nose honking moment, he portrayed a man full of anger and seemingly revenge-seeking, and after that, the transformation was simply incredible
He's absolutely amazing
You are correct. It is an excellent performance to be able to change on a time in essence. I did not realize how he has a comedic side to him that he does well also.
Especially the way he said "I have waited a long time for this!" I thought Daniel was about to be destroyed lol
He's great ❤️
When Daniel asked "can you teach me?", that's what Chozen was hoping to hear & he was very proud to do so to make up for what he had done to Daniel & Kumiko all those years ago. Such a great couple episodes in Okinawa
he almost sheds a tear to get that kind of respect. that was beautiful to see.
Did someone know what is the kind of those presure point technic. Did they belong to kung fu or something else? Please im searching for this so long
Chozen honking Daniel's nose is always hilarious.
What I love about this series is that all of Daniel’s rivals would become his friends and allies. Only the guys who were adults in the original movies remained enemies, which was their choice.
If you are talking about Terry Silver he was actually younger than Daniel-San (at least irl) xD but yeah I know what u mean
I mean outside of sato and col dugan was Julie’s enemy
I think it's a good commentary on how people shouldn't be condemned their entire lives for actions in their youth.
@@ilpor7072Silver was in Vietnam with Kreese. You’re thinking of Barnes.
Then Daniel hit the “Are you out of your F’n Minds!????!!” LMAOOO LEGENDARY WRITING
I love how deadly serious the music is and how Chozen made Daniel think he was going to finish him off, then in the next moment, he’s laughing at Daniel’s reaction.
Yeah, you gotta have a joke in life sometimes.
He waited 35 yrs for that moment. Im sure he had some practice.
@@1Jason if you love it so much then why don't you marry it 😂
1:44 The Actor playing Chozen really got injured on set but still he wanted to finish the scene... Great Determination from Yuji👍
Chozen is the perfect embodiment of both the lighter and darker aspects of Miyagi-Do and this coupled with his humility and retrospection is what makes him the perfect warrior.
2:40 I just imagine Daniel saying “Chozen don’t kill me please 😭😭😭” before getting trolled lmao so hilarious that he got his revenge
Everyone thought chosen was looking for revenge. I’m glad he had earned Daniels respect and got his honor back
He did get his revenge though, he honked Daniel lol. Daniel taught him a couple valuable lessons, humility and mercy for a beaten opponent. As a result they now have more respect for each other as men and practitioners of Miyagi-Do.
Daniel you want to me is here say daddy is here in my sleep baby you cry me in my room say open the door toche you home be there kids always dog die
Two yeas maman collin
Daddy you here in my sleep baby is you cry back open the door toche you home be there go cry me is you my sleep baby is here say open the door toche you home the in sleep baby you cry me is me Annick
Miyagi was right in not teaching Daniel the more aggressive style of Miyagi-do. He was a massive hothead as a teenager, and Terry Silver used that to briefly corrupt Daniel teaching him Cobra Kai. The series does a great job showing when you teach bullied adolescents martial arts, if they are not mentally mature they will turn around and become bullies themselves.
If miyagi taught Daniel this technique in anger he might killed Johnny and mike
The fact that chozen regretted and changed but after all those years kresse hasn't
@Bizzram ✓ that cuz of his general in the army and probably because he told him Betsy is dead
Kreese changed a little bit. He spared Johnny from Silver and let Tory fight her way...
Give it time... I think Kreese's time is coming VERY soon.... it started at the end of season 4 when he told Tori to do what she wanted.... he sees his mistake..
but Johnny is the "filter". Taking what Kreese taught him and what Daniel has showed him to come up with a hybrid style to counter Silver. It would not surprise me if they try and get Kreese to unite with Johnny, Chozen, and Daniel to defeat Silver. Being in jail may humble Kreese to see the errors of his ways and to see how evil Silver is.
@@tim_nj_devil176 I agree, Kreese is not the forgive and forget type and will definitely be out Terry's blood, I also see him getting out of prison quickly with some kind of help.
Losing to Daniel changed Chozen's life. He leaned humility and witnessed true selfless courage. It made him a better man. Bringing him back as probably the best character in the whole show was genius.
Not happen if Miyagi didn't save Sato in typhoon then Sato become hero and respected by villagers.
Daniel: "This doesn't seem like something Mr. Miyagi would teach"
Mr. Miyagi in the first movie: "I never been attacked by tree" "I never compete tournament only real fight"
I think that's where Miyagi had a flaw in his "defense only" philosophy. In Part III he tells Daniel that eventually he would forge his own path as a martial artist. Now it took Daniel over 35 years to realize this and let his daughter forge her own path, but I digress.
The flaw in Miyagi's teaching is how can he expect his students to choose their path or even continue his teachings if they're only equipped with part of the Miyagi-Do system? Miyagi being a pacifist, kind of stunts the growth of his students with his philosophy. Despite his best intentions.
@@Lord_Bibulous the whole point of the rules of miyagi do were to realize that karate is about defense but that defense takes on many forms even offense. Mr miyagi gave daniel a base in defense so he has something to stand on as he progresses as a martial artist. Thats why miyagi do has two rules, the second rule just means that karate in its essence is one core philosophy of following the good, what you do next and how you practice the first rule is up to you but you should keep the first rule in mind.
@@ace9924 As Mr. Miyagi said the chooses how it's roots would grow but it will only grow if it has strong roots. Or something like that
1:30 pretty much sums it up, it's not like Chozen was given all the knowledge back when he was a teenage bully, he too needed to be ready and capable to garner more of the teachings
@@Lord_Bibulous He clearly wasn't a pacifist because he engaged in self-defense, he only exposed to the defensive aspect of Karate because he felt Daniel was not ready to learn the offensive aspect of Miyagi-do because the offensive techniques can be abused and people could use it in situations where it is uncalled for. Miyagi clearly knew Daniel was not mature enough to handle the fullness of Miyagi-do because if he did Daniel would abuse it. Just look at season 4 how Daniel decided to use that technique against Johnny to gain control of the whole dojo. It was petty. Miyagi would have been a bad teacher if he had completely hidden the offensive elements or forbade Daniel from using offensive techniques completely, but he told him that there isn't only one way and he has to forge his own path and fight by being himself not what people tell him to do.
The redemption arcs in this series are amazing. Johhny, Krease and Chozen are given a better depth of character instead of being the stereotypical 80s bad guy.
Kreese didn't really redeem himself though.
@@JustinLaFleur1990 He doesn't need to be redeem, just fleshed out more his character to give him more personality than just being an 80s villain.
@@holyflame2 redemption is a part of fleshing out his character
@@JustinLaFleur1990 Lol redemption is not necessary if you want to flesh out a character. There are multiple ways to do that.
@@holyflame2 I'm aware of that but it is still a way and Chozen is looking for redemption and his character was given more depth and and fleshed out as part of why he is the way he is and why he is seeking redemption. Kreese on the other hand is a liar and manipulator who only cares about himself, same with Terry Silver
Finally Chozen gets his revenge. Honor restored. 🤣
Who would have known that these two would confront each other after all of these years? I love the build up. Chozen could've easily wiped the floor with Daniel but instead honks him in return. How cool is that? Chozen's appearance on Cobra Kai is why I have decided to watch the show. He's awesome!
Daniel is the one who beat silver
Daniel to me is here say daddy is you home dog two yeas is you cry me is me in my cry me is than you name Annick
@@Mason-or9xg He wouldn't have been able to beat Silver without help from both Johnny and Chozen.
I love how it seem like of all the characters on the show Chozen is the one who has his life together and worked through his problems.
In season 5, I was really hoping Chozen would have used that “Pressure point” technique on Terry Silver or perhaps Daniel to use it on Terry Silver in front of everyone in their final battle! I would have loved the expression on Silver’s face if Daniel would have pulled it off.
Although i agree with you, i think that the way they went with Silver vs Danny in the end had a better payoff. Yes, would be awesome to see Daniel using the pressure point technique on Silver, becoming a true master of Miyagi do by embodying all aspects of it's teachings against the big baddie, but seeing Daniel overcoming his fears ad traumas and defeating Silver using the very on principles his fighting style preaches (with an added insult of a crane kick to seal the deal) was still more impactful.
Chozen did use the pressure point against silver
@@astahfirula
He did use the pressure point, Silver was limping and shouting in pain. Went for the sword real fast after that
@@janimal4189 lmaooooo, yeah he did!!
Great to see Chozen back, not only has he redeemed himself, he also become a fan favourite as well.
Chozen should've been the strongest out of all them by far. He kept studying and teaching consistently as far as I could tell from this series. His dynamic with Daniel and Johnny was the best thing in Cobra Kai!
Saw s5 and Chozen was absolutely the best part of s5, redemption of anti heroes to heroes is something I'll never ever be tired of seeing in movies and series, Chozen was the MVP of Cobra Kai s5
One of the greatest on screen villians now turned into one of the greatest heroes.
Daniel: you will teach me the advanced set!
Chozen: very well, but first I must finish my roast duck
I get this reference!
Avatar the last airbender
I just realised: we've seen the pressure point technique used before. Mr Miyagi used it on Daniel, back in the original film. While Chozen's use of pressure points numbs and prevents Daniel from using his limbs, Miyagi used the inverse of the technique to restore movement and cut the inflammation to Daniel's leg, thus allowing him to continue competing after his leg had been injured. They're from the same body of knowledge.
I always thought miyagi just clicked a dislocated bone back into place. If that is the case though that's awesome
@@fireburn95rs Yeah you're right. He just pops bones back into place... Wikipedia search says it was a reiki technique though...
That's some really crazy attention to detail.
Chozen was by far and away the best addition to Cobra Kai.
I loved how Chozen became an main ally to Daniel and Johnny, when the three baddies from the movies stormed Silver house, it was so badass
💯
one of the most amazing things to see in the series
It’s funny how so many people don’t realize that Daniel is Goku & Johnny is Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. All the creators of Cobra Kai did was adapt the characters to the DBZ format. Daniel brings everyone together, even his old enemies respect him. Slowly but surely a family will be created. A family full of people who were once enemies. The core will be Daniel.
Now I can see Amanda being Chichi...
I don't know why but this scene made me feel incredibly peaceful and reassured, like when I heard Chozen's voice overlapping Daniel Vs Kreese at the end of season 3 It just felt so nice.
Chozen is so nice now,it makes me joyful to see him like that
'Please teach me' are the 3 words that melt a sensei's heart.
Miyagi and Sato would be very proud of both Daniel and Chozen.
Daniel you want to me is you baby cry me is here in my sleep open the door toche you home
Daniel - yOu SuRe ThAt WaS mIyAgI dO kArAtE !?
Chozen - Hai. Gonna cry?
Chozens laugh and smile really brings out his young character from kk2. It's all I see when he smiles big or laughs is young Chozen
3:16 I like how the writers made a new part of Miyagi-Do by combining Silver's lessons, even though in cannon Miyagi-Do is older.
3:16 “ if a enemy insists on war, then you take away their ability to wage it.”
One of the best things about CK is turning old enemies into friends.
It means much more to me at 46. Because you realize over the years that people do change. Sometimes for the better.
2:50 The way he laughs 🤣 "You should've seen your face!"
😂😂
Chozen is hands down the best character in Cobra Kai.
Now that Chosen is older I think he now knows that’s Daniel was really on his side all along , it was a war between Miyagi and Sato over a girl way back in the day , both Daniel & Chosen just inherited their war from both of them .
“You should have seen your face, wooo ohh” 😂😂😂
3:27 - "Sorry dishonored Daniel-san, a coffee cup has no pressure points." (Reference to Daniel's pride kicking a beverage from an antagonizers hand)
I was so glad that they redeemed Chozen and he has now become such a strong ally. Great storytelling.
This moment lives rent free in my head. This continuation for Chozen is so perfect. The boy grew up and reinstated the honor of his uncle and becomes a friend to Daniel. Kudos.
Chozen will bring back balance. He mastered karate as well as he has mastered himself. This whole show and every character arc we see (progressing) is about getting to know and mastering oneself. This is why we cry so much witnessing this. Seeing human nature fighting to overcome itself... every time we see the characters coming together... is a hard fought victory, short lived maybe, but give us a tear of hope/faith in the eye
Chozen pulled the Ultimate "Got Em" on Daniel😂
Chozen had the Greatest laugh at that moment 😂
2:31 when chozen fixed his gee together. I felt that. Like finally getting your revenge.
So, this guy kept up the act for days, just to troll his old rival. I respect that.
Chozen is so friggin' cool.
Chozen is an absolute gem in the show.
Chozen stole the whole show...I'm 35 years old and damn his character made my tear up...
Bringing Chozen back was a big brain decision
One of the best fight scenes on the show imo
Pfp
Agreed
It's good, but I think the Johnny and Daniel fight is the best one in K Kai.
Brilliant writing and character construction. So much fun as a fan. It is real life. You think you know until you hit your 'stupid me' moment and discover an entire universe outside of yourself. Again..brilliant!
Chozen was easily the best part of season 5, this was just a glimpse.
you are messing with fire Danny Boy!!!
Chozen- *"and I am gasoline"*

Man Chozen has changed so much since here. I think one of the funniest scenes of the franchise has gotta be Daniel, Johnny and Chozen singing Eye of the Tiger together in the back of that limo!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Has anyone gone from hated to beloved as much as Chozen? We built up 30 years of hate.
Everybody loves Chozen because he is such a bad**s. I was so glad to see his character turned to the hero side. We all love Chozen!!
I love the smile on chosens face whem Daniel san asked him to teach him . He was trully honored that his rival asked him for lessons
Mr.miyagi didn’t teach daniel the aggressive side of miyagi do because he’d over use that miyagi pressure point like how he did with johnny. But I don’t blame him on using it against Kreese
Maybe the reason Daniel didn’t use the pressure point on silver is because silver might find out and use the technique too on people silver cheats
@@BreakingJJC To be fair, Silver already had his own techniques to cause damage, like the Silver Bullet.

2:51 🤣🤣🤣
03:03 the young Chozen back in his face!
I used to hate chozen in the movie, but he actually became my favorite character in this show
With all Daniels villains becoming his allies , Chozen was by far the greatest asset to him by far. He's also the one that we least likely saw converting. He was by far the most menacing and became the most beloved.
I love how he became a better man, ane he's one of the best characters in the show😊
I never would have imagined the Chozen of KK2 would become one of my favorite characters in the entire franchise three decades later.
I dont watch the series bt Iv watch this bit probly a 100 times over. How Chosen agreed to teach Daniel was beautiful.
3:21 Chozen's warm smile here is infectious.
I love the savagery of Chozen

Chozen “I know Silver’s Address” lol classic
Have you got any idea how many times I did that to my little brother in the 80s and 90s ??
Waited a long time for that moment.
Brilliant.
Just finished season 5. Chosen was by far the best character in the series. And Yuji Okumoto was fantastic in the role.
Biggest difference between the fight now, and in the past, Chozen is more focused. He's able to make best use of his technique.
I love how clearly chozen chilled out after those years I like to think when he heard Danny was coming to visit a light bulb when off in his head and he giggled “oh this gonna be good” and had to practice the cold stiff manner in the mirror
Struggling to make amends with Johnny Lawrence is one thing but the fact that Daniel and chosen became very good friends and brothers through the art of karate is awesome!
This show would not have been the same without the original actors. Glad they're still alive
Pivotal part of the series IMO. Chozen now has a personality and is much deeper than the external shell we've seen in the past. Dude acted these scenes perfectly and it's great to have him as the dark horse vs Silver!
2:51 Paybacks are a.... You know, that thing... 😆
I enjoy that Daniel lost a lot of his illusions in this series. Not just about Mr miyagi, but about karate in general. While it might evolve into a form that is not meant to harm, it was born out of War., And when you're given no choice but to kill, even if you don't want to you must be able.
