We are running a 1086 with fwa, as well as a 186 with fwa, we feel very fortunate to have these beauties on our farrn here in Alberta. We have done cultivating, harrowing, haybine, discbine, raking, round baler work with them both. As much as I appreciate the hydro, the 10 has stolen my heart...

Dad purchased an 886 ROPS only tractor brand new in 1977. He went back and forth between the 886 and 986. For some reason he could only get the 986 with a full cab. He didn’t want that because all of the forage equipment we had at the time had manual controls. It was our biggest tractor, did 95% of the tillage work, ran the chopper for hay and corn.
Still have and use it today. Mainly for baling hay now, some tillage work to help the neighbors at times. Had to rebuild the engine a couple of years ago when one of the liners got a pin hole leak and dumped the coolant into the oil. Well worth putting that money into as well as some new rear rims and tires all around. It’s now good for the next 40 years!!!
    Go red power!

Pretty good sprinkling of letter series that are still at work in there plus a cx95 McCormick which is basically a 690 Case IH Maxim right now I'm loading spray water behind a 460 1960 model can't beat them. I sell farm seed one of my customers said one time he told the John Deere later he said we might try one of them green when some day if we ever managed to wear a red one out! Lol!

Yeah there so cheap second hand too in Australia. $10,000 USD for a 140 HP tractor is a bargain when in AUS if its case and new that would be $120,000 USD for that size. They prob are the best value money for HP tractor that is very reliable they are very heavy long lasting and well made.... the old 60HP 70s international tractor is double the weight of a chinese brand 60HP tractor if you bother to check , goes to show the quality and how well built they are

Awesome video of a beautiful 1086!
My father and I are diehard IH guys!
We currently farm in Western New York with our IH lineup...
656, 706, 766, 856, 966, 1086MFWD and a 4366. You actually stopped and took a picture of the 4366 with what you referred to as "a rock bucket" on the front and posted on your IG!
(it's actually a lift frame for a 12' snow pusher!) They all might not be the prettiest...but they sure get the job done!

Thank you for sharing that great history. A larger farm I grew up near had 5 Steigers but their row crop tractors were two 4 post ROPS 1486s. The IH 4 post ROPS have a good look.

We Australians never got the 86 series till 1978, we were being sold the 66 and black stripe 66 till then. My neighbour has a 1086B, the last of them. He is forever complaining about the TA and how it sticks the gears. Yeah, they do that when the TA is not in low for a gear change. He had his TA welded up so lost half his gears. I'm still running a '72 766 with the original Torque ampifier and no dramas.

Very cool info. Thank you for sharing. I have a 1982 IH Buyers Guide from Australia that features the all red 86 B series. I also have an IH Acre Master brochure. I hope someday to feature an 86 B and an Acre Master here on the channel.
