Thank you Terri for your lovely comment. It's touching that you also thought about the Queen walking in the spots I walked. It's surreal and truly special the thought that this could easily be the case as she loved Balmoral so much and spent a lot of time around this stunning place. :o) I know what you mean about just seeing Prince Philip fishing by the river. You can't help but wonder about some of the members of the royal family and their presence around the estate as they go about their lives and so on. :o) 😘😘🤗

Another lovely video, Rosalba❤and little trip down memory lane again for me. The scenery around Balmoral is beautiful. My late father used to cycle regularly in Royal Deeside as a young man and member of an Aberdeenshire cycling club. We last drove there with him during a visit about ten years ago…and I watched the television coverage from there last year, after the death of the queen. Such a shame that you weren’t able to enjoy a proper lunch in the restaurant! I hope that the haggis crisps were tasty! I look forward to your next

I'm so glad that the video brought back some fond memories for you, especially of your late father. It's amazing to read how he would cycle around the area as a young man. The area is truly stunning and I can only imagine how breath-taking it must have been for him while cycling to these special places. Yes, we were so looking forward to a delicious lunch at the restaurant but my goodness it was so busy and maybe they were not expecting it... but the haggis crisps were surprisingly tasty and our cappuccinos too :o)!

Gorgeous scenery with lots of sheep, deer plus salmon in the river. If our spirits stay for a time where we most loved being, perhaps ERII is still around somewhere nearby waiting for the coronation to be completed. In your filming of the exterior, it is interesting to note that some windows appear to have white/pearl shades, some a taupe/beige/pale terra cotta, and at least two window coverings appeared in deep blue. I would have anticipated something for all that would blend with the coloration of the slate & granite when viewed from the outside with curtains matching the decor of the specific room on the other side of the shades. Oh, wait I see white shades with pulls between the windows and the taupe-ish interior coverings at some window close-ups. Along with the masonry of the buildings, I love noting the beautiful stone walls where such care has been given to design and placement. Once-upon-a-time those were not costly materials to use for walls as fencing around grasslands, properties. I know you are describing the exhibit, itself, yet I feel certain they do change-out paintings and such with changes in seasons or sovereigns or additions to the family even via marriage with a personage from elsewhere who must be noted. I feel certain Charles will maintain such traditions as the Ghillies Ball. Love all the family photos of everyone at various stages. Perhaps the restaurant thought that on such a sunny day no one would want to visit and be largely indoors. LOL. Poor prep. The property has a splendid mixture of deciduous and evergreen trees. It makes for a more breathtaking landscape, I think. Ah yes, the symbol of the masons with the year the castle was completed. The carvings and metalwork above major doorways are handsome. Was that a little guesthouse you peeked in the windows at? Or more likely a shepherd's cottage near fields? A wee "woodhenge" for a swing! I like that they did not damage live tree branches with such. I think the river is tidal there, so it may have been low tide or they've had something of a drought or the winter mountain snows have not melted into it as yet.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the stunning scenery Philippa! It's fascinating to read your observations of colours and materials used for the window coverings and walls, as well as the beautiful stonework and landscaping. Yes, I also hope that King Charles III is going to continue traditions such as the Ghillies Ball. It must be a very special occasion and once in a life time experience for some of the servants to have the opportunity to talk to and even have a dance with various members of the royal family!
Although we didn't have lunch we were still able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings while having our crisps and Cappuccinos :o)
The little house I peeked in the windows at is the Garden Cottage where Queen Victoria sometimes would have breakfast, respond to any State correspondence and where she would also write her diaries. Here is the link to lots of information about it :o) www.balmoralcastle.com/garden_cottage.htm

I guess my heritage does influence my artwork a lot, and I incorporate it into my picture books, etc without even trying hard or even noticing it :o) When I sit down at my desk with a blank sheet of paper in front of me as I begin to sketch, I'm transported back to my childhood memories of hiking in the Andean mountains. I suppose these landscapes inspire me to create a cast of colourful characters :o) It's truly humbling to read that you appreciate and connect with that aspect of my work.😘

I believe that the Andean influence in your art is at the subconscious level, at the level of the soul perhaps. Through your art, that richness is reflected in a unique way, because your illustrations are original in the best sense of the word. Your drawings seem to come from a place inhabited by magical beings. How fortunate to have been able to hike in the Andes mountains as a child.
