Countryfile has been given unprecedented access to the Queen's Sandringham estate.
Matt Baker discovers that the Queen's love of her most private rural hideaway comes through her father's side of the family. When George VI died at Sandringham in 1952 it became even more special to the Queen and as Matt discovers, memories of her father are written into the landscape, especially the trees on the estate.
Adam Henson looks into the farming history of Sandringham which has run as a mixed farm of nearly 6,000 acres for many years. Adam looks at the wheat and blackcurrant crops before turning his attention to the Red Poll cattle.
Ellie Harrison is at the Royal Stud just half a mile from the main house. It was here that the young princess would accompany both her grandfather and father to spend time with the thoroughbreds. From this moment onwards the young princess was spellbound and still is today. Ellie learns that the Queen asks for regular reports on all her horses and sees how once the horses' racing careers have finished, the Queen has found a new lease of life for them - dressage.
John Craven looks at the great flood of 1953 and meets the local people who were affected in the Sandringham area to hear their stories.
Ellie is also looking at the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's work with scientists and ecologists to monitor the health of the land at Sandringham. She visits the Duke of Edinburgh's bird hide to witness the wildlife that visits the reclaimed land and calls it home.
Matt Baker also visits the Royal Pigeon Loft and discovers that the birds are a real passion of the Queen.
Finally, Anita Rani learns about Her Majesty's love of gun dogs. Anita meets gun dog handler Bill Meldrum and learns how he taught the Queen to win field trials. - Zábava
This episode is part of a 3-episode special of Countryfile released in 2018. Unfortunately, BBC won't let me upload the Windsor and Balmoral episodes, but I have it here if you'd like to watch them as well:

WONDERFUL
Thank you ,it’s wonderful🙏❤️
I greatly enjoyed watching both. Thank you for sharing them.
A Texan who believes Queen Elizabeth II was one of the most extraordinarily wonderful leaders of our time. Brilliant video…. And yes, I cried as well.
Texan here too. Always loved the Queen.
I am Canadian. I am so very glad you have made these videos available! What a feast for the eye and the mind. I have always loved and appreciated the Queen and Prince Philip, respecting their lifelong commitment to duty, lands and people. God bless King Charles and Prince William as they carry on their legacy!
Prince Philip and HM Queen Elizabeth are missed and will remain so. Thank you for your service. Loved the film.
Queen Elizabeth said in a comment that she trusts animals more than she trusts people. I wonder what happened to all her dogs and her horses?
Hi! Before the Queen passed away, she met with Sarah, Duchess of York and asked her if she would care for her two remaining Corgis. Sarah was more than happy to take the Dogs, especially to do this for her majesty as it was quite the honor to be asked. I think a magazine did a photo shoot with Sarah featuring the Corgi's outside with her at The Royal Lodge. (It might have been "People"?) You could do a search for it and I bet it would be easy enough to find. 😊 Her horses have stables at her homes (castles 😊) and I'm sure she left them in good hands as well. She was a huge lover of animals, this is true! ❤😊
Elizabeth R II Was an amazing human. I still can’t believe she’s gone. And she is missed.
Such a very graceful woman who became the most beloved Queen!! Rip Your Majesty!!
Well said .
I'm a Yank, and the amount of respect and admiration I had for her is immense. I was quite moved by her passing.
She really wasn't. She was an ordinary country woman of German and some what British birth, who clung to a way of life. Nothing more nothing less. She was very much like her mother, Very plain.
...and she was very funny
The Queen was no cream puff. She was a hard working, hands on individual with common sense and a high motivation. The United Kingdom and the world was inspired with such a brilliant person.
As an American, I am just learning about the Royals, and i couldn't love them more now after watching such a fantastic documentary. Breath taking to say the least! ❤
In my opinion, this is the BEST tribute to the Queen. Illustrating where her true passions were, so close to animals and the land. All the ceremonies, state dinners, etc., she did for duty. Sounds like she was a country woman at heart! 😊💗 ~RIP Queen Elizabeth II🌹
I agree 100%. There will never be another like her.
She really had a remarkable life.
Completely a country woman at heart... but never failed to do her duty. 👑 & Country 🇬🇧 bless her.
I Truly Love This. Let's Us Really Know Her In Her Ways She Had A Heart For A Lot Of Things. & She Did Her Job Well. This Was So Very Interesting. T. Y. God Bless.
❤🎉Agreed!
I loved this series which shows another side of Queen Elizabeth as a "country woman," where she felt most at home. She was so talented, so knowledgeable whether it concerned farming, dogs, horses, hunting, right down to pigeon racing. Simply amazing and we were so fortunate to have her as our Queen for all those years. Gone but never forgotten.
Enjoyed this so much. The Queen had a most beautiful smile. ❤
Britain and the world lost an incredibly special person when this beautiful lady passed away. She will truly be missed.
I visited Sandringham House and attended mass at St Mary Magdalene Church just last month, Aug. 6, 2023. I had the best experience.❤
How we miss her. Our sweet queen.
What an extraordinary woman-The media did so little to cover the Queen beyond pomp and circumstance . . . And family travails. She was truly a brilliant woman with a broad array of in-depth knowledge and skills, coupled with courage, integrity and leadership ability. I wonder if her own people recognize what a gem they had in Queen Elizabeth II when they criticize the royalty.
All queen kids got that love for nature, and county side life. But for media and some people that is boring for taking about. They more prefer glamour, lavish life what lived Diana
We knew. This is the Queen uk loved.
Most of us do not know what we have until it is gone.
@@myway3203 The press in general tended to respect the private lives of the Queen and her family.
Diana didn't take to life at Balmoral.
The critics are a minority - they're nothing new Dawn.
very lucky to have met her majesty many times, my grandmother made the lampshades in the royal houses and estates. truly a wonderful woman, both my grandmother and her majesty.
How wonderful that must be for you. I loved the Queen greatly and keep her memory close.
Wow ! fantastic ...
Oh, how wonderful, if true.
it is of course
@@jackmckinnon8256 Yes, of course, it is. Carry on, Jack. Carry on. Her majesty is certainly, one to remember fondly, I'm sure. Did she ever run you around in her Range Rover at Balmoral? 😅
The Sandringham estate is straight out of a fairytale. It’s stunningly beautiful. You can see Queen Elizabeth had the perfect childhood with her devoted parents ❤
I visited this fall. What an exquisite place! I loved the garden and the house. Fascinating❤
To be honest, with a bit of good health and all that wealth, why, well, one, would be hard-pressed, not to have some degree of perfection.
She was truly a GREAT women and a GREAT queen. May she RIP beside her beloved Phillip. ❤❤
I adore these videos as it continues to allow me to see & or hear the Queen even after her passing. She has been a constant in my life to whom I held great admiration & respect. ❤
Hello fan
Wonderful video. The Queen was a wonderful person in every way. She was one of those special people who can’t be copied or replaced, much to our loss.
I don’t care about royal anything, I just admired, respected and loved a person who happened to be Queen.
For the Queen Horses were a lifelong commitment…I dearly admired this humble and down to earth woman…what incredible times she has witnessed for 96 Years…Rest in Peace lovely Elisabeth I I…❤
One of the most beautiful, sensitive and deeply personal biographies I've ever seen, on anyone. This left me feeling as if I was there, with Her Majesty and felt her love of this land and inhabitants. The finest Lady after mine own heart. I could have very happily lived my life at Sandringham. I love farming and the animals especially the Horses, Dogs, and the Birds. Its a magical place and a magical record that captures the essence of the place and especially the humanity of THE QUEEN. Thank You for this beautiful magnificent film record of such splendor.
A Colorado Mountain Woman USA 💜🇺🇸💕🇬🇧🌟👑🌟🌹
We visited Sandringham the smell of the trees were absolutely lush!
Thank you for such a loving and touching look at this side of Her Majesty . She was such a humble lady in a world of the greatest grandeur. I miss her.
I live in the US and I cannot get enough of the beauty of the UK. My grandparents were dairy farmers and my family comes from farmers. Its in the blood. Our family farm is now gone but the memories remain. My love of the land, dogs, horses and flowers all come from my time on the farm.
I am very happy to learn about the Queen's leisure time. She worked so hard for so many years I am encouraged to know she did indeed have a full and enjoyable personal life as well.
As I watched I feel honored somehow 😢❤Felt
I throughly enjoyed this and learned so much about Queen Elizabeth, may she rest in peace.
Very nice to hear the Queen talk candidly and see those old pics. She obviously left a great impression on those who knew her as a "country woman." Perhaps one day we'll see inside Sandringham as well.
Thank you so very much for these wonderful videos of Queen Elizabeth II. She was amazing in so many ways. I don't think there will ever be another monarch of the United Kingdom as great as her. I hope she will receive the title of Queen Elizabeth the Great.
Amen to that!

That was just a lovely documentary! Thank you! ❤from Idaho USA 🇺🇸
Wow, I had no idea about the amount of work that went into Sandringham. What a treasure! Also, how cool is it that the Queen was so amazing with her working dogs. The more I read about the Queen, the more I respect her (even though my respect was immense for her before).
Every animal on estate, including pigeons who saved lots of lives in WWII when communications were destroyed-but her understand ing of land, crops, foods, animals and wild life-to preserve human life.
As an American, I have always admired the Queen and the way she forged forward no matter what was thrown at her...she always looked so composed. As I also live on a farm, I admire her commitment to the land, her horses, cattle and dogs...I love them all as well!
The Loft manager got me, i can't imagine how he feels when he heard about the Queen's death. 🥺
Mrs. Hyacinth Bucket has a lovely and accurate exact reproduction of HM the Queen’s sofa at Sandringham House.
This series has added depth to the Queen and increased my admiration of her even more.
This has been an honor to get to see more into the real life of the Queen ❤
She will always be My Queen since I was born in 1956 my parents got married in April 1953 and they went to London for their honeymoon and they were getting ready for the coronation
what a purposeful and sought after life. though her time was extensive, i wish that she could have had several additional and healthful years. how blessed the uk was to have her.
When you approach Sandringham in Norfolk it’s like stepping back in time. No modern houses anywhere to be seen, like a Thomas Hardy setting!
It’s beautiful but for many of us, Downton Abbey has stolen our hearts when it comes to British ancestral homes and country estates. Thank you for posting this fascinating program on Sandringham.
A beautiful documentary, bravo!
I'm not British but I've always been fond of Her late Majesty who embraced her destiny and duty with grace and dignity. The more I discover about her (which this documentary allowed me), the more I admire her.
May she rest in peace.
A wonderful dedication to a dedicated Lady of historical importance to humankind. Thank you.
An American who watched the coronation Day as a 9 yr old on our little b/w tv fascinated while my mom walked about working and saying " those people sitting for hours in the Cathedral could be fitted with tubes so they could pee without getting up."
Yup. Thanks mum
What a wonderful documentary! I'm so happy to have come across it. That you for uploading it!
This was a mesmerizing video. Thank you for making it available to us in the general public. Queen Elizabeth was magnificent. I hope King Charles and the Prince of Wales carry on the Sandringham traditions that were so important to the Queen.
She was a country girl at heart.
Amazing documentary. The story about the pigeons is particularly extraordinary to me❤
A Wonderfully produced Documentary. Very special, full of previously unknown facts about her Majesty the Queens life. Thankyou
Like you said the Queen just loved a simple life. The pomp and circumstance only came because of her position in the Monarchy. Know wonder she loved Balmoral out of sight of the media and the world. She could be the person she really was at heart.
22:50 oh, my heart! I just miss her so much. My heart still hurts like it was yesterday. She's been my screensaver on my phone ever since she passed. Growing up with her as my queen is an absolute honour in my life. What a life well lived. My love and devotion to you forever, sweet Lilibet.
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦❤️✌️
I had no clue she was a farmer. I have a whole new look of her. To know all she wanted was to be a farmer say’s she was a humble Queen and really cared about the people and the land. I’m American but I respect her.
The Queen was and is forever fascinating.
We have no idea what the queen did behind the scenes, amazing
I AM a royalist! This institution makes Britian Great! It's roots are over a thousand years old and are deep within these old islands. It is the envy of the world and is headed now by a kind hearted man who reflects his mothers poise and steadfastness! God Save the King! Long Live the Monarchy!
Монархисты больные на голову тупые люди
we have to have some one at the top and i dont want a president Blair or may thank you
Kind hearted?! Charles? And his slut Camilla? That's totally wrong. Completely untrue.
Thank you!

Stimme 100 Prozent zu.😊, bzgl der Aussage Charles Dow's.
My favorite royal residence ever ❤️ 😍. I am so very pleased that it is a well used and productive working farm. I am also very pleased that the late Queen Elizabeth was a very knowledgeable and professional person regarding her skills in animal health care and welfare, horse, and pigeon racing, hunting dogs, and pet dogs, plus arable crop production. Not to mention the people who live and work on this place. I would live here if I could forever!!! Thank you 😊
Not a royalist but what a Queen , what a human being. Respect !
This was fantastic so beautiful and very entertaining. She did so much for the environment. Wel ahead of her time.
I had the pleasure of visiting Sandringham some years ago. It is a wonderful place! And the staff were very professional and kind to the visitors, especially if you have children with you.
Gorgious IN NORFOLK. I simply love the rural areas of England. From Across the Pond...love these videos. Always interested in RF.
Pembroke Corkies have always been my favorite small breeds. Love watching the late Queen and her staff with her wildlife, dogs, horses, pidgeons.
I grew up on a horse farm from the time I as 12, in America (prior to that I lived in an Irish Catholic neighborhood in the city) where we mostly had Arabian show horses. But always a few American Quarter horses who were working horses and lovely. The Arabians were so high strung, I got rattled once or twice and decided it was not my thing. I read books and went off and studied literature. But my cousins had very respectable careers showing the Arabians. One became large animal vet. thoroughbreds race horses are even more high strung, and look at Her Majesty, totally at comfort with them. She had a way, and with people, also. I will always have much respect for the example she set in how to deal with all living things.
Quarter horses are lovely workers indeed. Thanks
Well said. I enjoyed your story very much and I do understand how a rather large animal can be frightening. As a child I asked for a horse whenever I thought my parents might say yes (never happened) I did however read every book in the library about horses. Eventually I became friends with an avid dressage rider. I loved going to the horse ranch and just petting all of those horses. Have a lovely day, Debbie Lavigne
That paring between you and the Arabians just wasn’t a good match, my friend. And that’s unfortunate but I guess I’m a bit selfish saying that because I’d love to go for a nice leisurely ride with you for fun. So instead, we could hang out on some comfortable down chaises and have great discussions on the books and authors we love-oh, and a nice picnic lunch too :-)
@@tundrawomansays694 It is unfortunate that they first put me astride one of the Arabians. But I did enjoy them at the fence.
Execellent history lesson for all the world.
Her Majesty was the salt of the Earth and for me this is the finest biography ever as it truly exposes the intelligent and loving core of her very soul.
Incredible! She was amazing. !
She was a simple woman who loved the country life and animals.
Wow my twin sister and I was born right then and I remember my mother talking about the storm in London. But this is is the first time I have seen anything that backed this up
Is it possible to miss someone you've never met?
Yes
IN 1963, the then Australian Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies said of Queen Elizabeth, who was at the time touring Australia, using the words of the British poet Thomas Ford" I did but see her passing by, And yet I love her till I die."
So yes you can, and you are not alone.
I miss some great classic actors who lived and created in previous century. I have never met them as they had been long dead when I was born. So yes, people can miss someone the have never met, especially when these people represent entire epoque. The Best Epoque.
I miss her too
Thank you ever so much for uploading these great and informative videos to CZcams. The Queen ad Duke was very remarkable individuals who passed on a Legacy for future generation,
Thank you for the Sandringham video. It was very interesting. The queen lived a full life. I hope Charles and William enjoy and find happiness in their pursuits like she did.

This was the most moving nd beautiful ceremony l have ever seen. I am so glad l did not miss it. The Remembrance Ceremony was just outstanding. Very heart-felt..
What a wonderful film !
I remember as a schoolboy, in the summer holidays we would take the train from London to Boston to visit our grandmother and we all travelled to Norfolk to spend the summer holidays. Great memories especially playing on the vast sandy Norfolk broads.
💝💖💝🙏🙏🙏we will never forget, her Majesty!🙂🙏🙏💝THANKYOU!
Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich is the actual name of the band the pups were named after. They were famous in the U.K in the 1960s.
I was at Sandringham two weeks ago fabulous day lovely walks, the little Church was absolutely Beautiful .
You can see how Charles loves the Countryside has he does he got it from his mother I'm sure he too would have loved to have been a farmer too.
and that's why his Duchy of Cornwall has become so spectacularly successful under his guidance.
This was so beautifully made and reflects the late Queen's passions and her private life so deeply, I had to pause it for a few minutes to shed tears for what we all in the world have lost. God Bless Her forever!
God bless you too Amanda!! This was really so beautifully presented. What a treasure we all have lost. ❤️🙏
I love to watch these programs. This gives us insight into her passions for the country and her animals that she loved so much. What a lovely documentary.
I may be a Yank, but what an extraordinary person she was in more ways than for sure I could ever imagine. My deepest condolences to our friends across the pond. I am so sorry for your loss.
I was fortunate to be present at a walkabout that this estate in 2006.Sandringham is a rather unusual building with beautiful gardens.
“Where low light casts a lot of shadows.” That is precisely how I would describe my stay in London 😆🙌
That's absolutely beautiful..... 😀 my gosh if my family was ever that fortunate Harry 🤔
Thank you. A beautiful program 🦘🦘
Thank you for sharing, missed this when it first came out.
She had a very privileged life, free to explore & indulge in the best of the natural world. She must have loathed all the ceremonial duties. What she learnt about power, influence & control in the natural world may have been useful knowledge when to came to people as well.
Now this is true environmentalism.
I had no knowledge about the January, 1953 storms that devastated coastal Norfolk. Quite interesting. Thank you.
Thank you for introducing this documentary to me.
Beautiful program , I loved your Queen..
This is such an interesting documentary. Thank you for posting it. Like most people, I knew about her love for horses and Corgis but I had no idea about her interest in homing pigeons, cattle breeding or gun dogs. I love that she was an expert gun dog handler and really enjoyed the footage of her working with her dogs. I also love that she was able to spend several weeks on this estate each year. I’m sure it was a great time to re-set herself.
Thank you so much for the other episodes! I absolutely loved them! I learned so much that gives me even more respect for the woman we call the Queen> What an amazzing woman she was!
I still miss the Queen. may she rest in peace ❤
So so enjoyable.
Thank you for this! It was outstandingly done and kept my attention despite all of my distractions. This is a feather in the cap of the creators. again, thank you.
Amazing. Brilliant documentary. The Beeb at its best. Thanks for posting.
Loved this! Thanks so much.
What a beautiful narration.
I love 💕 when you go shopping!! Thank you for talking us along!!
This seems like a photographer dream. I would love to see it and bring my camera , so many beautiful things to see….❤🇺🇸
I hope things can remain the same here now that the Queens gone.
Every reign has it's own dynamic Teresa. King Charles faces a different world. God bless him.
i watched so many documentaries about the queen. I must say I was not expected such content. It really touched me. The way they presented her passion for horses, wild life, pigeon 9 I hate them but now I love them lol), dog training etc...amazing!
