In the United States, milk is big business. In 2016 around 96 million metric tons of the calcium-rich liquid were produced in the country. And a recent survey discovered that more than half of the American public choose dairy products when it comes to getting their protein.
In order to keep up with demand, milk production is therefore on the rise. Indeed, as of February 2017, there were more than 40,000 licensed dairy farms in the U.S. And for the seventh year in a row, these businesses produced more milk than they had done the previous year.
Of these dairy farms, 99 percent are owned and managed by families. This means that multiple generations are able to grow up watching, and learning about, where their food comes from. But while that’s fine for many humans, for some of the cattle it’s a different story.

We have a rescue Jursey cow we got her 2003. She was a low milk producer from a dairy farm. She was 5-6 yrs old when we got her..
She had never had been in a grass pasture or near trees. Took several months for months for her to get use to her new home.. Tessy is still with us... living with our herd.. she is a very happy old girl..

Beautiful story, So glad Maybelle was reunited with her calf, and then able to raise and be a mother to two calves.
Sadly, this is what happens to most cows and calves in the industry everyday. And this example just shows that cows are much more intelligent than we give them credit for.
Still, I’m glad to see that they were both reunited- even if it just one family, I’m sure it made a huge difference to them.

A mother is a.mother.. we miss and need to be with our kids ! My only child my son is my baby for life and he's 34 years old ! Lol but he's my baby!!!😄🎉💕 I'm so happy this wonderful couple that loves animals was able to take in Maybelle and eventually her son that she missed, I feel joy in my heart 💕 they are now reunited and Maybelle had her last baby calf aww my heart sings💕💕💕🎉👍😄. I am such an animal lover !
I know there are people that would say "ok shut up now" because they do not care for animals but how can you not care ! I love dogs too😄 I really feel sad for people that just hate animals..
I just love that there are people, rescuers out there able to bring these happy reunions together. So sad that there are so many babies being taken away from their mothers of several different species. God Bless the rescuers, whether it be one cow at a time or like this loving family taking in, ultimately, 3 cows, mother baby and her baby in her belly. Hugs to you.

I'm so glad the cow is happier. I've heard some homesteaders do this with milk goats - mothers and babies are separated at night. In the morning, babies are fed, goats are milked, then allowed to be together all day. Yes, this means the homesteader gets less milk, but the babies are better nourished and the animals are happier.

I'm so grateful there are people in this world with a heart. Anyone who has ever spent a lot of time with animals knows they are intelligent and definitely experience emotions. It's not just the most common like dogs and cats, but all of Mother Nature's creatures. We humans aren't as unique as we think we are.
I'm speechless when it comes to the neglect and abuse of any children, animals & the elderly. I'm so happy there are good people to protect them when possible. Thank you for this sad but beautiful story.

What wonderful people to care so much for Maybelle's feelings. Animals have feelings too. So glad Maybelle got to keep her last two babies.
I hope the rescuers are prepared to castrate the bull calf. If not, he will breed his mother back, and his sister who will each have a calf, so now they have 5 animals, of which one will be a heifer most likely. The next year, they have at least 3 calves and in five years they have a whole herd of cows and a bunch of nasty tempered unmanageable very large bulls.

When such cows are rescued they often romp, play and cuddle with their saviors like puppies. Yes, they can be pets. The owner and cow lay in the grass together and the owner massages her face, neck etc. True also of pigs.

I've seen this video showing more of what this momma cow went threw and how the previous owners tried to hide the calf. And the reunion. But I didn't know about the new addition. This is wonderful to hear and now they are all three safe and happy. This made my day even that much better 😊

Thank you so much for showing compassion for cows. They are sweet creatures that love and hurt just as we do. I'm so sick of humans exploiting these gentle giants. I was raised on a very small dairy farm. 12 head. The calves were so adorable and the cows were so sweet. I don't drink milk. I don't eat beef. More than half the world's population has never even met a cow. Maybe I'f they did, they might join those of us who hate exploiting these gentle giants! ♡♡♡

Did anyone's else cry? We have to change the way we treat our animals... Even those used for consumption. We can't force being vegan on anyone, but we can be much more humane in the way we deal with livestock.

It's so unbelieveable cruel how animals are most oftenly treated...At least this cow got a better future...But all these faiths around the globes in the farm/industries...! Any normal mother of warmblooded beeings loves their children...The only mothers I have seen( or heard of) willingly forsaken their offsprings has been humans.
AWESOME--EVEN IF COWS ARE USED FOR MILK THEY MUST BE ABLE TO STAY WITH THEIR BABIES FOR MORE THAN A MONTH.....BUT --THIS ABUSE MUST BE STOPPED ENTIRELY.
