It had been two years since one pet owner had last seen his beloved dog. So when rescuers found the animal alive and well, the man had no idea if he would even remember him. And yet as soon as the dog heard his master’s voice, his reaction was mind-blowing.In January 2014 Bill Ballato lived in Westerley, Rhode Island, with his beloved dog Bosco. Bosco was a nine-year-old beagle mix and Ballato’s neighbors knew the pair well. So when the dog went missing that month, they appreciated how devastated his owner was.Bosco had been in Ballato’s yard when he managed to escape from his collar and disappeared. In a bid to find the dog, Ballato recruited his friends in the small town to help. He also posted missing posters and made contact with the police and local animal shelters.However, Bosco was nowhere to be seen. So all Ballato could do was continue his search in the hope he would find his buddy somehow. But when he moved to Lafayette, Colorado, a few months later, he almost gave up hope of seeing his dog again.

My malamute was stolen from my yard by kids. But his beauty was nothing compared to what they were in for. HOWLING and fits. I finally found who had him and I heard him in the background AND the lady (mother) was telling me things about him to the point that I said......."you have my dog." I got him home safely where his ridiculous behavior was loved LOL......it was his behavior that got him back to me.
Tip: The video wasn’t put together well. When you create anticipation leading to what seemed a climax.... you then need to have a climax. Like a video, pictures are nothing compared to videos.

The dog was in the yard when he "managed to escape his collar and disappeared". So he was tied up and alone. Any surprises he wanted to escape?
Then he lived free in the same town without ever choosing to go home. It took trapping to reunite him with his owner, who had moved house and did not come to get him - the neighbours crowd-funded to send the dog.
When the dog arrived he seemed less than pleased to see the man. Returning to yard captivity, presumably.
Living free, the dog was happy and had put on weight - tells you something.
Just because the man wanted the dog, doesn't mean the dog wanted the man.

I've been there, but it only took me 2 weeks to find my precious Abigail. I walked the streets, and must have hung at least 200 signs. This is no lie. She was so happy to see me. I cried my eyes out with joy. ♡♡♡

tinybrownin I don't have my dogs any more. I used bad tenses when writing my comment, but I use to worry about this from time to time. They were my only kids. And 3 different ones wandered off through opened gates. LUCKILY we found each one quickly, and safe. Everytime I heard a story about either missing children or pets. I hurt. I can imagine what the parents of both are going through. Give your friend a hug from me.

Me to. I have 2 yorkies at my grandparents home and I love them dearly. If I just think what might happen if they were gone breaks my heart.
Roxy, our one yorkie, is nearly 10 and still plays like a puppy. She loves milk, brushes and baths. She's a very loving dog.
Leo, our other yorkie, has been my grandads shadow from day 1. He's an absolute sweetheart.
I've had to be separated from my pet ferret twice now for a short period of roughly 2 months, every time I came back home she let me know how badly she missed her daddy, wouldn't let me get more than 3 feet from her for weeks. As traumatic as it is for us to be separated from our furry babies, it's just as hard on them, if not harder. Treasure your fur babies, they are special.

Reasons why this is a fake story:
1) man's shirt doesn't chance in 2 years.
2) he can afford having a dog but guess what? Can't afford to go get his dog back when it's found by someone because its "too far" (not sure if I understood that part correctly, I'm a bit tired.)
3) dog really isn't happy, it isn't wagging its tail.
4) third reason is why they couldnt film a believeable reaction, they cant force a dog to act excited anyway.

A happy story but the video doesn't support the dialog. The dog appears very pensive and wary; no joyful tail wagging and other bonding actions.
Dog was miserable and escaped on purpose. Dog was upset that he was brought back to the owner. The body language of the dog reveals everything dogs are smart and know how to get back home especially in a small town. Dog seemed scared and nervous to be back with this owner.

Dogs don't communicate via Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram; they communicate with body language and a very big part of that body language is expressed with their tails; not inconsequential as any pet owner can tell you.

I’m not surprised. Dogs remember everything.
Especially abused dogs and every dog that had a home one time or another. It takes time and patience. Please be patient with your rescue. You don’t know what this dog has been through. I’m not afraid of dogs and I’ve been bitten out of the poor dogs fear of humans.

I am so touched beyond words! The bond that pets have with their owner is just so sweet and touching. So happy they found each other again! Hope they stay together forever from now on.

SomeOne took my dog in 2011 visiting a small town in Green Bay Wisconsin . driving from Chicago.. and I never heard squat back..It hurt ..regardless of all my efforts.This is an amazing story.. Congratulations Microchip n tag Your dogs and hopefully You'll find them .

Mine jumps all over me, yelps and cries when I come back from an hours walk. But if I go away on a weeks vacation, he pretty much ignores me for a couple days. He pouts very well.

My dog ran away at age 2 and was gone for over a year. One day we got a call from Humane Society that they found our dog as he was microchipped! Thank god! We were reunited with him and he just passed this last April just before his 16th birthday. I can’t imagine All those years without him.

Love how the dog lifted his hind leg at the end. As he kissed his Dad. He was expressing such happiness and love. Glad he’s home 🏠
well done and hats off to the rescuer and drivers who went above and beyond,,, 2 thousand miles between them would have been a 2 and a half hour plane journey one way ,,,,,,there were even sightings,,, i would have dropped everything ,,,or would have drove down there and searched , and then hatched a plan from there,,, with the owners presence in the dogs neighbourhood he would have been caught much quicker ,,, not wait 2 years
This "story" could've been less than 1 minute long, except it was stretched out with repeated scenes so it could be over 5 min. If the reunion at 3:55 is supposed to be the focal point of this "story" then I believe you got the wrong dog and perhaps wrong story. Reunion stories can be heartwarming. This one gave me heartburn.

Not sure why, but not digging this story. A dog who runs off is one thing. This dog “escaped” according to terms. Spent two years on the run in the same town as his owner...yet nothing. Had to be tracked down by a “pet detective” and caged. As you view this “reunion”, the dog is still imprisoned in the cage. The dog did not appear happy to see the guy at all. “Dude” or not.
We had a dog who loved to escape. She liked to explore her world. She was a purebred, so despite having a dog tag, one time someone tried to keep her. But she kept howling the whole night, wanting to come back home. She just wanted to go out and have fun, then come home, not stay out.
So glad he found his dog .x

Could be. It's a short clip. But I know people who love their dogs and still mistreat them, some claiming that mistreatment makes them tougher (like some parents believe).

was walking her dog and she called our her name. Long story short. She got her dog back.

dogs are the BEST thing to EVER happen to humans!!! they work their way into our hearts and become our kids .. they teach UNCONDITIONAL LOYALTY AND LOVE !!!!!! I lost my baby in 2004 and i still miss her ! there are days that i don't think about her maybe 2 in the last 14years ..As Will Rogers said when i get to heaven (hopefully) and there are no dogs SEND ME TO WHERE THEY GO !! As another person wrote if you have never loved a dog then your soul is incomplete and you will NEVER know what UNCONDITIONAL LOYALTY AND LOVE is and i feel sorry for you!! One thing that a LOT of people DO NOT understand is when you get a pet YOU are saying to that pet I PROMISE TO LOVE ,FEED ,AND TAKE CARE OF YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE !!!!!!

Ya I rescued a cat from the freezing cold. The people who owned him would get both puppies and kittens. Then once they needed to be fixed or got to be like 9 months to a year old. Just threw them out on the street to die. I reported them over and over to every one. Nothing was ever done this poor dog. Seems unhappy to even be back. Maybe he was abusing or just locked the poor dog up. I always check people out first. To make sure they weren't being abused first. Talk to their neighbors, etc. Especially the neighbors who own dogs and or cats.

Dogs find their way home from incredible distances let alone down the street while walking , maybe just maybe the dog was sick of always being tied up and dragged around being confined in a room , the poor dog just wanted freedom and they should gave left him where hes happy

CHIP YOUR DOGS, people! You'll get your beloved pet so much faster if he's been found! I also have tags on my dogs' collars with our phone number as well and a reward promise for their return. Love your dogs, because they love you more than any other human will ever love you.

I have always wondered about dogs run away. Only because we had 10 acres and several dogs at different times none of the dogs ran away always put laying on their land. Which they all passes away so they are still laying on their land
.....Our lab the other saved me, we moved from Michigan to Nevada...our lab now lives in a Condo, ..one day we were taking her for a walk
. Another resident came out of no where with his dog... Our dog first thought was to protect well I lost my balance went down drop leash, our dog I thought was going after the other dog. To my surprise my husband told me our lab came back and stood over me. So,, love your animals if you need help with them ask....

Yes, chip your pets, but ALSO register them! I got my dogs chipped recently and filled out a bunch of paperwork at the appointment. I thought that was it, and almost tossed the papers I was given into the recycle bin. Wow, am I glad I didn't. You have to go online and register your dogs as well.
Trinity (thumbnail) is chipped, and has a tat showing she's fixed (to deter fighting ring thieves, aka, jerkoffs) her tag says "If I'm trying to sit on your lap (flip over) then call my Mom. (phone number)
