    Jarek i have been learning from you since this past summer and i am constantly impressed and pleased with your tutorials. Having said that, your new pass tutorial is way better than that of your past one. You have inspired me spend all of my waking hours practicing magic, thanks for all of your tutorials and advice.

    Jarek, thanks for all your time explaining all these moves! I learned the one handed palm by Brian Brushwood and it took me along time to learn. This pass along with your instructions helped me learn it quickly and now look forward to practicing the move to perfect it.

    Hi Jarek,
    I'm french (leave near Paris) and I started closeup magic tricks in may so I'm just a beginner but I just wanted to thank you so much for your great tutorials and specially those about the pass and the double lift. That really helps a lot.
    Please continue!

    Thank you for this. As a beginner magician this is by far the most detailed I've seen for this pass yet! And thank you for the small hands suggestion with the credit cards! I literally got the pass motions down in a matter of minutes (though nowhere near good enough to perform in front of people. Lol!) My hands suck at magic but this tutorial helped out a lot! So thanks again!
    In fact all of your tutorials are amazing! They engage me in a way that makes me continue to learn as a beginner. So thanks for everything!

    for those of you that have smaller hands, ive figured out that if you hold the very left corners of the bottom packet between your middle finger and thumb while in the exaggerated pinky break thing and just lift it up and over the top packet with the ring finger , it makes it a lot easier. and also it is easier to move your thumb on the left hand completely out of the way when doing the pass so it will be easier to clear the top packet instead of "jamming" the bottom packet into the left thumb. and ALWAYS remember to relax your hand a bit when doing the classic pass

    Hey Jarek - "Snap Change" (aka Suit Change)
    -prep card deck with doubled up of all the same values but opposite color (example: red Ace, black Ace, black 8, red 8, red 3, black 3, ect, ect ...)
    -briefly show under side of deck via fan (to show no funny business, eg classic bs)
    -shuffle (once to minimize disturbing the deck)
    -peal 2 as if 1 (ideally of same value hence first step)
    -then set them (tossing them as if only 1 to reaffirm the notion of 1 card) squarely face up atop of the face down deck.
    -prep for single handed pass with pinkie under edge via a natural hand fidget and perhaps squaring if you tossed.
    -snap the fingers of your free hand as you gesture over the top of the most visible part of the pass, done in sync with the
    passes first part (moving 1st face up card perpendicularly over the edge of the deck in your hand) .. aka the magic part.
    -you complete the illusion by 'squaring the deck' while transitioning the deck itself from hand to hand, while the 2nd half of the actual pass completes by being slid under the deck by the losing hand.
    (obviously this can sometimes not actually be the same value if pealed unluckily. so being a bit ambiguous about the change itself in your wording is the wisest when performing)

    One thing that helped me pick this up fairly quickly, I'm still not too great at it yet, but I didn't find it as hard as I thought based on what he was saying, but anyway, a good way to practice this is to do lots of one handed cuts. The motions are very similar to what you were showing. The main problem I have is the same I have is the same problem I have with trying to do the clip shift, I can't seem to hide my wrist movement enough.

    A slight variation, this can be used to control a card to 2nd from top. With chosen card placed in middle as per video, before gripping top half into pinky & ring finger, break up the top card. Then pulling the top half out and under as usual, will leave chosen card 2nd from top. Useful for various routines. Alternatively, when putting the top half on the deck prior to break, grab the pinky break by pulling one card down from the top stack; this also places chosen card to 2nd from top.

    While practicing this, I noticed that occasionally I would accidentally turn over the card under the break. I think I figured out how to not do that, but then I got interested and started figuring out how to do that on purpose, so that you end up with the chosen card upside down in the middle of the deck. I'm still working on it, so I don't know how effective it will be; but do you know if anyone else already does that, what if might be called, any existing tutorials, etc?

    I have a question about this pass. I have been practicing it for a while now, and it's quite simple with the credit cards. But when i move to full/half decks, my pinky cannot hold the deck strong enough and the middle cards that my picky should hold slip out. I was able to fix this by using both my pinky, and pointing finger to do the pass, by putting them BOTH between the cut, while having the middle and ring finger on top. This made the whole pass much, much easier for me. I just wanted to know if this is a bad habit, and will make it harder to expand with this move, when making this pass more hidden for example, or if it's a small divination that does not hurt other slight of hands later on. I know you explained that if it does not feel comfortable, experiment. Which i have, I just want to know if there are any negatives you see in the way I do it. Thanks!

    • @VforVakilos
      @VforVakilos Před 9 lety

      yes actually there are your point finger is visible by the ppl in front of you and if you do perform it getting into position to execute the move will make it visible (there is a big gap in front that isn't covered by anything) and also it makes your hands look stiff .

    when you do the classic pass, you should close your fingers.
    it may be hard not to lift up your pinkie. But if you practice it, it will help you do better pass

  • @common0324
    @common0324 Před 8 lety

    I could do the pass "well" in that I could move the top pack of cards to the bottom. I can hold the cards easily with no risk of spilling or miscontrolling cards, but it was so obvious what I did. I figured out a trick though.
    Once you have the control to handle the cards throughout the motion, don't use your bottom hand as much. Instead of pulling the cards off, turning them vertical, then placing them on bottom, simply pull the bottom pack through the top pack. With the control you've built up, the bottom pack with naturally turn the top pack, allowing you to switch the locations without having to open your bottom hand as much. By limiting the amount of movement your bottom hand has to do, it looks much more natural. Just have to watch out for creating a scraping noise which only happens if you're holding too tightly.
