    Hey guys! Here is the highly requested Herrmann pass tutorial. I perform the Herrmann pass in a little bit of a unique way but I think this helps covers the move and really simplifies it. I hope you guys enjoy my touches and subtleties! I really appreciate you taking some time to watch this tutorial. It’s filled with details because it needs to be. There is so much that goes into convincing sleight of hand and deception. I implore you to watch it all as even if you’re more experienced, there will be something for you to take away from this. Enjoy!

    Make sure to keep your right pinky glued to your ring finger. When learning "shifts" back in the day, Richard Kaufman taught me to practice by holding a U.S. nickel in between my ring finger and pinky... if the coin drops. You flashed. 🤘🏼🤘🏼

      @@ReidFerry Thanks!! As I continued to watch I saw you do the shuffle pass. Again, it's like you were reading my mind!!!-- I do that when performing all the time-- But it always seemed strange to me shuffling face up to the spec. So shuffling face down and controlling card to the bottom is fantastic-- never even thought of that. I started magic/card sleights last year, I've still never been caught on copping a card off bottom of deck-- probably my best move-- Thank you!!!

    I like the fact you mention not doing "unnecessary" movements. Too many practitioners are overly fidgety with the deck - doing lots of pointless cuts and riffles - which just creates the impression they're doing something furtive even when they aren't!

    • @ReidFerry
      @ReidFerry  Před 5 měsíci +1

      100% you’re completely right! Thanks!

    • @apostatereacts
      @apostatereacts Před 5 měsíci

      @@ReidFerry My own philosophy is, fine, do your Faro and friffle and waterfall and Sybil, but only to gain attention and make people watch. After that, you're done, everything is just clean and smooth and simple.
      Nothing flashy. That abrupt change of gear is what makes the magic, magical. While cardistry and card conjuring are on the same Venn diagram, you don't want too much overlap.

    Reid Ferry : Thanks for your thoroughly Detailed and Demonstrated Tutorial. This SURPASSESS ( lol ) all other tutorials I have seen on the Hermann Pass so far. You have a unique, embracing style. Also, the Hermann Pass seems to be an easier and much more practical pass, than the Classic Pass.
    I have little performance experience ( family, friends ) but like to thoroughly practice key card controls as I reckon they are the framework for good magic. Pleasantly surprised that I came up with a similar handling to you, while trying to work it out for myself. I incorporated a move I learned from - Fernando p1 - on U-tube called the Real Pass, that involves completely covering the deck for a split second while performing the move. Fernando is the best card magician/teacher I have ever seen so far.
    P.S. I have been practising a move I came up with, but has prob been known for centuries, that is a variation on the Side Steal; I call it the side glide rotation shift lol. I have never seen it on U-tube but u will prob know of it. It involves controlling a single, central card from the middle to the top of the deck, either face up or down. It seems to be a lot easier, more speedy, subtle and seamless than any of the passes. I reckon it would make an excellent in- depth tutorial for your viewers. Anyway, good luck with your channel.
    Peter.

      Hey Peter, I really appreciate the kind words, thank you!! I do agree, I much prefer the Hermann pass to the classic pass.
      I haven’t seen Fernando, I’ll check him out.
      I’d love to see a video of the move or maybe a more detailed explanation. Send me an email if you’d like. rf.sleights@gmail.com

      @@ReidFerry Reid Ferry : Thank you for the reply. As I say, I think your Herman Pass Tutorial is- hands down - the best tutorial I have seen and I have watched more card magic U- tube tutorials than are Eh healthy Lol. Or not Lol. Anyway, I reckon you will be fascinated by Fernados skill and eloquent subtilty. He is - out of orbit - the best card magician I have ever seen, anywhere.
      Reid, I'll be happy to E-mail you a description of the move I thought out, within a few days. Don't know how to send videos. But i know u will be familiar with it and it'll b well known professionally, I reckon. But I've never seen the move on the net and convinced it would be a very helpful Alternative Card Shift to many, who may find the traditional passes Awkward.
