  • Forget about rubber bands, zip ties, wire, Velcro® straps, shoelaces, or gaffer tape! The Light Control System (LCS) by Cloud Defensive helps you securely mount a weapon light remote pressure switch, and Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant shows us how to install it. In a previous Quick Tip ("How To 'Dress' a Weapon Light Remote Switch Cord"), Caleb showed us how to cinch down a remote switch's cable to keep it out of the way. But Cloud Defensive offers an even tidier, simpler, more elegant solution. The LCS consists of a mounting plate that is model-specific to a particular remote pressure switch. Caleb is mounting the LCS for the Streamlight ProTac switch; Cloud also offers a plate for the Surefire ST-07 switch. Separate side plates lock the mounting plate to the handguard rail. Why don't they come already attached to the main plate? Caleb explains. The side plates include cable "management" channels and holes for mounting screws. The holes in one plate are threaded, so it's easy to install the screws, with no wrangling of separate nuts or locking bars. The result is a very clean, streamlined switch assembly with NO protrusions to get in your way or gouge your hand.

    Well Caleb, you made that look super easy, I just installed mine and even though it took almost an hour and made me want to end my life a few times I finally got it. I don't have a workbench so trying to hold the rifle and fool with two pieces + screw something in was getting me heated hahaha. Now that it's on I'm super happy with it. looks and feels amazing....now I'm gonna go larp.

      I ended up taking heavy books and a few cut down 2x4s to try and steady the rifle as best possible so I atleast had some kind of steady platform. I too tried doing it without any support and thought about ending my life as well lmao! Congratulations on getting it without support. I gave up trying to do it that way because I was going to chuck my entire rifle if it didn't take a break to settle down.

      Did you get the aluminum, or the polymer? I got the polymer and the tolerances are probably not the same as the aluminum, because I also struggled for an hour and actually could not get it to attach to my 1913 rail.

    • @tenchikid80
      @tenchikid80 Před rokem +1

      @@franklong3402 I got the aluminum one, I didn't know they made a polymer version as well. Regardless, I imagine either one is going to be a pain to attach without your weapon properly held in place.

  • @richardlaycock7747
    @richardlaycock7747 Před rokem +1

    Excellent video as usual Caleb. I have the same setup only left handed on an 18" barrel and a 15" handguard. The length allows me to use a C-Clamp grip by moving the tape switch back on the rail. I run the on/off button towards the back as you do. The wire is not taut but it's a pretty straight shot to the Streamlight.
    The design makes it pretty tricky to keep all the tape switch components aligned, switch, frame, sides, wire & screws. When I tore everything down to cerakote the barrel & handguard I discovered that the screws on the pressure switch are long enough to keep the switch assembly together when backed-off enough to remove it from the rail. Same goes for putting it back together. Slide one side back onto the picattiny rail and the switch will drop into place when aligned to the slots. Tighten it up and you're done. Never had to mess with the wire when removing or replacing the switch.

    Has anyone else had an issue getting theirs to fit? I got mine for a Streamlight Protac Rail Mount 2. The threaded side plate can't quite reach all the way around the top and bottom, so the top is just pinched against it instead of hooking under it. Thought it would pull together better, but no matter how much I try, it's like it's not machined wide enough. I'm using a Magpul 7 slot aluminum rail piece. It's grabbing good enough I guess.

    Thank you once again for the product video. As mentioned before; please provide a direct link to your companies web page regarding items demonstrated in these videos, at least for me, (a multiple repeat customer, for years) this would make for “ease of ordering” in one easy step. As to customers in general, I believe this small feature/addition would help generate sales as I know that I will be doing something else and end up moving on from the video and then NOT coming back to it to order the item in question. Your IT/IS department should be able to accomplish this in a short period of time. Thanks again for the information, and now onto the copying and pasting of this item and then opening a website (yours or maybe not if it’s not easier for me) and ordering this item. Thank you for your time, again relating to this request/suggestion.

Feed it through the mlok (or whatever type of slot), zip tie it down, and then feed the cable back out a slot further down the rail out to the light. ?

    Seems to be a lot of negative commenfs for some reason. I bought a streamlight because I was afraid of breaking or losing my issued surefire and didnt want to pay for it. I found that the included rubber tape switch mounts would come off too easy. I went overseas with the LCS a couple of times and have been using it ever since. Two issues with it. 1. It takes some fidgeting to get the side panels properly lined up. 2. Its a pain to remove and re-install every time you have to turn your weapon in or draw from the armory. I love my LCS to death and it is the bees knees. It wont be leaving my (now personal) weapon until I get the TAPS sync

    These are awesome I have 4. Just don’t get the polymer because the polymer is weak junk and the nut will spin through the polymer and eat through the polymer because the torque values are wrong. Cloud hooked me up with aluminum replacements so they were cool about it, but a heads up don’t buy the polymer version. If you have an ATLAS S-ONE rail that doesn’t have a full picatinny top rail, check out Driven Arms, they made one with Cloud exclusively for the S ONE rail system and it grabs the side ATLAS slots.
    Impact Weapons Components has the best light mounts. They’re better than Arisaka.

      I've got one of these mounts. I will stick with this mount over zip ties any day of the week. Zip ties are okay, but the simple fact is that they leave a lot to be desired, and like Sean just said, heat can be a considerable issue depending on how they mount. They also can somewhat harm the ergonomics for you.
      Also, this mount is made of aluminum. It's added weight, sure, but it's such a minor amount of added weight it hardly matters.
