Whether or not everything works, this is a beautiful replica of the Neighborhood of Makebelieve and its residents. Mr. Rogers FASCINATED me when I first saw it back in 1973 when I was 3 years old, and it's so cool that you can ride the trolley through the Neighborhood and see all the people from the real show.
I only went to Idlewilde for the first time in May so I never got to experience this. I knew about it from growing up with Great Old Amusement Parks. Having gotten into animatronics in a big way after seeing some abandoned Chuck E Cheese and FNAF videos I'm so sad I never got to ride this, the cartoon version sucks in comparison. Looks like such a good ride with great animatronic artistry, Lady Elaine's musical instruments in the museum go round seems like the highlight. The worst part about the Daniel Tiger version is the "Miss Alaina find my cardboard helmet" scene that replaced the museum go round is the worst scene by far, like they're trolling the adults.
Let's have some make-believe right now. We'll get the trolley. Let's pretend that people are coming to visit the neighborhood on a tour ride, and King Friday has a special announcement for all those people to give to all the neighbors. What do you think that announcement will be? Well let's think about all that now as the trolley carries our guests by castle-garden in the neighborhood of make-believe.
I would LOVE to see backstage because I am a HUGE railfan! I wonder how they maintain these things! Must take a dedicated crew to keep these trolleys from suffering from fading paint and rust, which some theme park chains would let happen.
Why'd they need to go with "Prince Tuesday" for the scene on the new version? I mean I get why theu changed it to Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood but they should've left in references like "King Friday the 13th" that work as jokes for adults that either grew up with this ride or appreciate the artistry of the sets because they grew up with Great Old Amusement Parks (I remember picking up on that as one of the short scenes from the documentary)? And do they really think kids would care if it was 3D animatronics figures as opposed to the 2D style of Daniel Tiger (I mean, Chuck E Cheese adults are a thing due to appreciation for animatronics)? The reason for the change was likely them not wanting to do as much maintainance work on the animatronics. To be fair though I do like that the new version includes Mr McFeely (just noticed an adult joke typing his name, if someone wanted a Mr Rodgers Neighborhood theamed horror story there's a strong foundation with the names) as I like his famous "speedy delivery" line.
Seems like every video I watch of the ride something is broken. At least the riders can't see Henrietta and X in this video. The other video I saw Prince Tuesday and Ana didn't even move.
Apparently just found out apparently Mr. Rogers worked on the ride with all the cast doing the voices and everything and from the comments the ride is actually pretty old from the70’s so they probably unfortunately broke overtime and because of how old it is, it’s probably a pain to fix. :(
when this was still a thing you could see the remains of the old green trolley that was completely rotted out and what wasn't was covered partially with tarp. just a middle finger to knowing my favorite attraction is beyond broken and will be replaced soon. oh well, there is always the scrambler. . .
The park designers have set the stage beautifully; now the trolly hostess must do her part to make this a magical trip through the Land of Make Believe. Her lack of enthusiasm kills the fun, like rain on a beach vacation. Does she not realize what a special day this is for the kids and their parents? Why is there no joy in her voice? Why is she indifferent when the trolly rolls up and all these beloved characters talk to her? Just listen to her at 1:15 :-(
Can't expect everyone to be on their A game all the time. I can only imagine how many times she has to talk back to animatronic puppets every day she comes to work. As much as we want these people to be the professionals they should be in reality they're probably there just to make their minimum wage pay. This girl is probably a teenager with no significant attachment to Mister Rogers like with some of us who grew up with the show.

I'm sure the people who put this all together had the very best of intentions. That being said, these crude robotic relics are downright creepy! Just seeing King Friday's wandering eyes would be enough for me to jump off that train and head back to the parking lot!

King Friday s hair was not that long corny hair was not black at least the other character looks like the actual puppet it would have been nice if mrs Rogers herself would have been in the neighborhood or on the trolley the children would have been thrilled
We used to have IT all, but now their changing what IT is, and what IT is now is strange and scary to us. It happened to us, we can't let it happen tot he children of tomorrow. We must all continue to spread the joy and warm feelings of the beloved man we all grew up with (Even if it was just on TV)
It's good that thy're making a ride about Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood but they really shouldn't get rid of this! We need to remember Mr. Rogers! Is there more than one of these rides, i hope?

They really should fix the animatronics so they actually work. And so that riders get to see X and Henrietta, when they're not "on vacation."

If this were my job, I would have loved it. Honestly I would have gotten way too into it.
