- Hi everyone!
So I was thinking. There seriously has been a ton of things Mister Rogers said on TV when I was a kid that I still try and practice today. Literally one of my heroes to this day. And I didn't realize it as a kid either but Johnny Costa (the pianist) improved the songs every show and absolutely shredded them haha. So I figured why not give Mister Roger' tunes a shot. Thank you all so much for everything. It means the world. BIG ups for always rockin my casbah!

This is the song where Mr. Rogers comes home and changes spiky black leather jackets.
Fred Rodgers was one of the rare few who can unequivocally be labeled a badass not for fighting in some war or facing down some aspect of nature, but just for being so nice, caring so much for his fellow man, and working so hard & patiently to spread that attitude to others.
+Synchronizor He stared down a psuedo force of nature, bureaucracy.
Congress was going to cut public TV funding Fred Rodgers appeared before them to make a case for public TV. After his speech, not only did congress not cut public tv funding, they expanded it.
SELongB I was more referring to things like wrestling bears or surviving a mountain storm.
Still, his speech before the Senate shows just how passionate he was about nurturing and educating kids. His influential advocacy for home video recording (in front of the United States Supreme Court, no less) is another good "Mr. Rogers goes to Washington" story.
I couldn't have said it better myself
Mr. Rogers' would be proud! =)
He would be!! :)
This is the song that never ends meets metal!
yes!!
+Madblaster6 But I have things to do!
+boomstick900 Worth it!
This.
And make it a 10-hour loop.
If only Fred Rogers could still be with us today to see how the kids he loved grew up and how much love they are giving back.
I literally started crying tears of joy and nostalgia. Mr. Rogers taught me the more important things in life: sharing and how to be a friend.
Mister Rogers would be proud as hell of this and love how he inspired you to be the insane shredder that you are.
Next up, Bill Nye the science guy meets metal.
YES, PLEASE!!
Yus!
You sir are a genius
+Fizzy Note BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL BILL! BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY!
I want this to happen.
I imagine if Mr Rogers were still alive he would approve and probably might have invited Eric on the show.
This makes me happy and sad at the same time. I've lived in Pittsburgh all my, life born and raised here. Been on this earth since 1983 and I never got a chance to meet Fred. Sad.
This has fulfilled my childhood and and my adult life. I also love how you are so calm and humble while playing, yet be a complete beast! Sounds so awesome!!
Thoroughly enjoyed, you can be my neighbor any day man
I love how you ended it like a Mr. Rogers episode lol
considering johnny costa was one of the great jazz pianists, who regularly improvised around the melody and played the music live in each episode, i was sort of expecting more layers with improvised metal riffs around the melody. I liked it still, just want to encourage you to revisit it again sometime.
+john doe my Jazz improv carries no weight at all haha, so I wasn't even going to attempt it
+331Erock Why not challenge yourself to improve to do it justice as well? :D
+Kain Yusanagi For the reason sometimes you just know when you are licked and doing it might be something he was not happy with at all.
+331Erock i suppose the internet isnt the place to experiment, but it would be cool to revisit in the future if the views warrant it.
Chris LeDoux
"...know when you are licked..." No such thing. You never know you are beaten until you strive to your absolute utmost to try. Anything less is merely a shade of defeatism.
I can die a complete man now that I've heard EVERYTHING there is to hear!
I fucking love you.
+FamilyJules7X Yeah? Well I love fucking...wait a sec...
+RandomGuy666100 that was funny.
+FamilyJules7X I fucking love the BOTH of you!
Remember, it was Mr. Rogers who ultimately won the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.
YES!! Right in the childhood!
LOL awesome. I'm sure Fred would have been a fan! :-D
Nice touch with the cardigan.
Mr. Rodgers was based in Pittsburgh, and I got to see the model neighborhood in person.. The network that produced the show has it in a glass display case in their lobby. It's cool as hell to see it.
This works so well that it's mildly terrifying.
I've never heard or read anywhere that Fred Rogers was a fan of metal. And yet, I truly believe that he would appreciate this.
Mister Rogers would approve of this video.
The awe-inspiring power of metal and the soul of compassion. Never change, man.
Mister Rogers was a true childhood hero, not in action, or to save the day, but to show it is fun to learn, and how to be a good human being. I watched him all the time when I was young, and I will always remember the lessons he taught about how to live our lives and to help others.
Erock is one of my favorite artists/guitarists/youtubers ever because he loves what he's doing and what he produces is amazing, and it's just awesome that he's doing what he loves and creating joy for others with it.
God the memories. Keep rocking man. Do the songs you want. You keep pickin great ones!
This is one of the most underrated covers on CZcams. And it should be getting a huge boost with the new movie coming out!
Im having a childhood flash back
now that you have done this, you have to do Sesame Street meets metal.
The intro to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood reminds me of so many things from my childhood.
Being carried downstairs by my father, half-awake to catch him at 6:30 on PBS.
Lying on that stiff brown couch that we only threw out a few months ago.
The sound of the space heater downstairs, as my dad typed away.
The smell of apple cinnamon oatmeal upstairs.
I'm not much of a believer in an afterlife, but the existence of people like Fred Rogers, whose lives had a positive impact upon the world, make me wish for a grand repository of souls, if even for only the best of us humans.
I'm not even mad, neighbor; this is amazing.
i'm crying this is perfect. your sweater is perfect. my soul is ignited thank you. thank you for the little speech i'm so grateful I love you
This absolutely needed to be a thing. MR. Rogers was one of those rarest of people who was exactly the same on AND off screen. A personal hero of mine. THANK YOU EROCK!

I loved Mr. Rogers naugborhood as a kid this almost makes me wanna cry. This great that he covered this. Fred Rogers taught kids respect & how to treat as well as just entertaining fun.
You have always stirred some sort of emotional reaction in me with your renditions, but this is the first time I've ended up sobbing uncontrollably. Nostalgia can be pretty intense!

This was amazing. I loved mr Rogers.
"One of the greatest gifts you can give anybody is the gift of your honest self. I also believe that kids can spot a phony a mile away."
Fred Rogers
I really have no idea what I could suggest after this.
Simply amazing.
This video wasn't what I was looking for, but I'm glad I watched it!
You're like my hero for this!
That is awesome. A fun tribute to a guy who really did make a difference.
keeping metal alive in your own neighborhoods.
this is a good message.
Nobody could ever replace Fred Rogers but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have one of those happy flashbacks when you did the speech in the middle there. Cheers man.
I wonder what mr. Rogers would of said hearing the metal version of his theme song my best guess would be he would say that's something new to me. He's probably applauding from heaven.
This is 1 i would have NEVER expected, but it's awesome!
Fantastic Eric. Well done
I really liked this. I really liked your little talk too.
Took one glance at the title. Couldn't help but start laughing lmao. Rock on bro!! /,,/
